I take CLA in the morning along with my other vitamins. You know, I don't know if it's helped, or not. I have lost 15 pounds in the last five weeks-ish (since Feb 1) and have taken them for the last month. It doesn't really matter to me if they're helping or not. I just take them because they might, and since they're basically healthy fatty acids, aren't gonna hurt. I would suggest going ahead and taking them if you feel like it, but don't expect miracles.
PrairieQueen - I agree about calorie cycling being a good thing. I don't do it in any formal way, but instead have a calorie goal range which allows me a bit of flexibility depending on how tired I feel (food as fuel!). I aim for between 1200 and 1450 calories per day, with one day of 1750 on the weekend. I've been having great success with this approach, so far.

It's probably sodium. Or, at least, when I've had those weird jumps, I just say it's sodium and drink a lot of water. It goes away.

Good Luck, Everyone! I finally got back on plan after a month off. I was sick with a bad cold and then out of town almost a week. I got to the gym yesterday too.
I don't have a current weight or a goal yet. Life is semi settling down after getting married and moving. I'm having some health issues. I've had hives for 2 weeks now. My wedding night was sadly spent in agony from the swelling the hives caused. I've lost my insurance because getting married knocked me off. And then I've spent the last 10 days working everyday for long shifts while my husband has also works long shifts plus he just started a second job. Today was the final day of my 10 day work stretch and I can finally relax. I've spent the last week or so stress eating and I think that is making me feel worse. As soon as our marriage license arrives we can start the process of me getting on his insurance. I need to get some serious allergy testing done because these hives are driving me insane and it makes me nervous when my throat starts itching. When I saw a doctor a couple days before I got married and lost my insurance they gave me an epipen along with steroids and a high powered allergy pill. The steroids and allergy meds don't help too much.
I need to get back to eating healthier. I'm hoping it might help me feel better physically because junk food makes me feel like crap. But I need the accountability I get on here. So here I am. I'm back!

TrixieCat: Thanks for the encouragement…and I hope your scales continue to co-operate with you!
VickiLou: Glad to hear you’re feeling better! Good luck getting back on track.
LovelyLeah: Congratulations on your wedding…and based on your avatar, you were indeed a lovely Leah and a very beautiful bride on your wedding day! How wonderful to see you back! You’re one of the few people who was around when I lost a lot of weight a few years ago. I’m so sorry to hear of your issues with allergies and insurance. You say they gave you steroids. I presume you mean corticosteroids (as opposed to anabolic). If you’re still taking them (i.e., if it wasn’t a one-time shot), then the steroids are likely the cause of your “stress eating”. A little while ago, I underwent radiation treatments for a brain tumor and was prescribed corticosteroids (not to worry, the tumor is not terminal, although regrettably I have lost most of the sight in one eye). I was told “you WILL gain weight”. It’s an unavoidable side effect. In fact, I was told to expect a gain of up to 5 lbs. per week, and to only speak to my doctor if my weight gain exceeded 5 lbs. That was not fun to hear! That said, if you’re still taking the steroids, don’t stop without guidance from your doctor. You need to be weaned off them. Great to have you back!
Nici, Nicoley & WebWoman: I hope the whoosh fairy pays you a visit very soon!
flower & TooManyDimples: You’re both dropping like a stone…way to go!
Penny, PrairieQueen, Guacamole & Moosie: Keep up the good work!

Keep hanging in there, K9Owner. Have you considered adjusting your program in any way to see if you can jumpstart your body a bit?
PrairieQueen - Your faith has been repaid! Congrats on the loss
Leah - Oh, my goodness. Congrats on the nuptials and on looking so gorgeous on your wedding day! Unfortunately, your immune system decided to freak out and give you hives. I'm so sorry to hear that, and about the issues with your insurance. Yeesh.
Tuscany - Congrats on your continued loss It's my pleasure to be encouraging. I know that it's important to a lot of people (such as myself!) and just want to be there for everyone who shows up to fight the good fight.
Tuscany - Thanks! Sorry to hear about the tumor. Yes, they put me on prednisone. Luckily it's a lower dose and I only a couple days left of it. I'm nervous that when the insurance is figured out and I see a doctor that they'll put me on more. I'll be sure to let them know that even the high dose they gave me at urgent care didn't help and the current ones aren't helping either. Maybe they will try something different.
TrixieCat - Thank you! Despite the unpleasant night, the actual wedding day went wonderfully!
So I weighed myself this morning and I was surprised by the number. I was expecting it to be higher because how I've been looking in the mirror this past week does not show this weight loss. Maybe it's the steroids, I know they can do something like this. Maybe it's this new scale. But when I first got this scale last week and I stepped on it, I wasn't surprised by the number. It could also be true since my job is more physical. I'm often lifting 20+ pounds of wedding dresses above my head (can't let them drag on the floor) and my fitbit says I usually do about 15k steps.
No change this morning, but I can’t complain given my recent losses.

TrixieCat: Congrats on getting below 190! Isn’t it great to enter a new decade?!
K9Owner: Hang in there. The whoosh fairy will visit any day now…
PrairieQueen: The calorie cycling seems to have worked!
Leah: Glad to see you had a pleasant surprise when you stepped on your scales!
Trixie: I haven't tried to jumpstart a new program. I am eating too much. I eat whole foods, no fast food at all--haven't had it in yrs. I cook alot, but I eat too many cals & I can't out-exercise too many cals. I think I'm still in the mindset that I am lifting enough to support the cals I'm eating, but I reverted back to lifting body weight on squats and lunges and 55lbs on the bench. 1700-2000 cals doesn't support this. I'll get disciplined when I can get outdoors and have to wear running skirts and cry b/c I look wretched in them!
Leah: I seriously hate to be the bearer of bad news, but being on steroids and losing weight is oxymoronic. Steroid use=weight gain and elevated blood glucose, which can lead to insulin resistance. Until you are off of steroids, it is unlikely that you will lose any weight.
Tuscany: You are the sweetest!! However, considering I have NEVER had a whoosh in my life, I am not very optimistic. I MUST eat fewer cals.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. Flooding in my part of the States. YUCK!!
Boo, 3 mornings at the same weight. I'm happy to not see a gain after yesterdays's trip to Epcot. I actually did really well at not going overboard. Most everything we ordered we shared so only got a bite or two of most things. Still waiting for TOM to show up and try to wreck my numbers.
TrixieCat Maybe I'm a bizarre freak exception but I'm still losing weight. I'm not complaining or anything but it does make me wonder if the weight loss and hives are connected. I already deal with insulin resistance so I'm really confused about why I'm losing weight but I'll take it.
