Matilda - so close and yet so far...this 209 is kickin' my behind! I was kind of calorie counting, but it's a bit more like intuitive eating (my PT's told me to not count my calories; he thinks I'm one of those people - he's probably right - that would end up obsessing about it and spending too much time worrying about their calorie intake each day, rather than getting out and, uh, living). I had a mini-goal (I'm off-schedule wrt the Valentine's Vixen Challenge, but that's ok) of onederland by the New Year...but I'm not sure I'll make it.
Heck, just getting below 209 before the New Year would be present enough for me!
Purple, Abby - I hear you on the "I don't deserve this" thing. For some reason my attitude's changed recently (thank God, and I really mean that), but I couldn't tell you how or why that's happened. It's a knife-edge though, sometimes; I could so easily topple over and go back to that place where I hate myself. It's pretty scary.
I am not giving up but I start getting depressed when I think about how Ive gain a lot of weight back. I had gotten down to 220
I can relate, as I think most women can. I was almost under 200 at the beginning of this year and gained it all back plus more. I am starting over now at my highest weight ever...but it just makes me more determined to succeed this time!

you have been through a lot. I am proud of you for hanging in there and trying. That's a big step, just to try to better your life after going through something like that.
How is everyone doing? I'm stuggling with overeating this time of year.
I know I need to get back on plan. Try to get to the gym more. It's harding being motivated this time of year. Any Suggestions?
YAY to everyone already dropping a pound or two...keep it going

At least we have each other for company in the back...and who knows, we may be able to catch up...though I hope we don't, I hope they smoke us and get there fast, we will then be front in the line for our turn

Have you tried doing something drastic with your workout routine? Written down everything you eat for awhile to make sure there isn't something hiding there? Took measurements to see if you are losing inches/gaining muscle perhaps? Usually shaking up the workout routine, doing something I have done before, and utterly confusing my body will work.
Hmm....Jillian Michaels has a DVD designed to shake you out of this rut...not sure which one it is, probably the metabolism one.

I honestly think it comes down to pure willpower. Few of us will make it to the new year completely on plan 100% of the time...but you can get there with your dignity and a few pounds lost. For me it comes down to sheer determination and commitment to this process. I want the changes in my body and life much more than I want the goodies....most of the time. When I really just want the goodies, I try to indulge just a little but get right back on plan the next MOMENT...not the next DAY.
So, eat what you really, really, really must have and anything else that is not good enough, let go! Another idea is to eat everything in little tiny servings, just get the taste of the things you love but never eat anything all the way. Or, you can also eat just a few bites, but stop when it doesn't taste so great anymore.
Today has been a long, exhausting day, and I'm shattered. Thing is, though, I'm shattered in a good way. I think I need to keep myself busy from about 8am - 5pm, then I know I've had a productive day filled with good activities, including eating properly. So now I've got some hot choc and will be heading to bed soon to get a decent night's sleep in.
Hi everyone!
I would like to get into this challenge, it's a BIG Goal for me. I do so well working out everyday and then I stop logging on to post and stop working out, what's up with that. I guess going on this site is a big motivator for me.
Good luck everyone. I'll post my weight tomorrow morning after I weigh in. I'm pretty sure it's higher than my current ticker.
Purplefirefly- how did you find out about the walking events? I would like to look into that Im in NJ!
I used the race finder at runnersworld.com. Most of them allow walkers, some even have separate divisions with awards for walkers (though I am not a speedy competition walker and will eventually be running them I hope!) A lot of the ones held toward the end of the year will be up earlier in the year, so you kinda have to check back sometimes to see if anything new gets put up.
I also have found lots of stuff just by searching for my state 5k races, etc.
