SG - LMAO, you know, it does taste like lettuce! And the mental picture of you guys doing abs, lol, that's brilliant and pretty much a replay of my ab workouts. Mine sound something like, "OMG, am I bleeding? My stomach must be bleeding, I'm gonna die, oh this hurts...ahhhh it's done." Glad you're feeling back to yourself again and enjoy your last day b/f the weekend!! I will send you some good vibes and some 208's over your way!

Tummy Girl It is cool and rainy here today so while you are channeling up some rainbows, sunshine and lollipops send me some. I could really use them today.

Shrinking Girl That would be awesome for you to get the treadmill. Sending you lots of hope and keeping for you. I have a treadmill and it really helps out.

Delphi Good new girl... you deserve it. It is amazing how when your going through the rough times a cloud is lifted and the sun comes out and you have a wonderful gift in people. I am so very happy for you.

iDream Those breakfast bars sound so good can't wait to make them. My DH says they would be good to put in his cooler for those emergency foods. Good luck with the basement I keep telling myself I will do that this weekend

Ms Perception Hope you are having an awesome day! Good job on planning out your meals for the weekend.

Shrinking Girl Great job on the weight loss!!!!

Today is cool and rainy and I am so very tired from the week I didn't get up to go with DH today. My weight is up a little this morning but I think that is just because I didn't drink enough water yester day. I guess it is time to have a or I have been eating more veggies this week. That is something in my old routines that I never did. There are very few veggies that I thought I liked. My weekly goal for myself is to try one new vegetable so I can get some variety into my eating. Do you ladies have any suggestion on how to fix veggies to make them more tasteful... Need help with this one. I am off to do some laundry so I don't have to do it this weekend. Hope you ladies have a great day.

Ok....got home after doctors office. and am bummed. DH is sick sick sick!!! So any plans to accomplish alot today are gone, cause he has to rest. That's ok though.

Got on the scale this am at home and was 253.0 flat. a good pee and it would 252 and some change but I digress. Got to his office and 254.4. Granted I have clothes on when I am there, but I so wanted to reflect all of my hard work.

So then came the lecture.......6 pounds in 2 weeks is the goal. It is progress. Now, here is the positive though....... BMI was 40 six weeks ago. Today, I am no longer extremely obese. My BMI is 35 which puts me half way through the obese category. So now I can't be bummed anymore. Thanks for listening.

My scale said 25 pounds and that is what I am going for. 4 pounds gets me to my september goal of 249 and I will make. Now it is time to run.

have a great day.

Hi Girls!!

SG Way to go on the new decade! Hope you get your treadmill, I love mine!!

Tummy I think it would be awesome for someone in this group to have their story in a magazine! Glad you made it through your run!

MsP I need to get better at planning, my sister is pretty good at it and making foods for the freezer and stuff.

Mystical I love veges but I don't always have creative ways of making them. My family loves cabbage, carrots, celery, onions, and potatoes cooked uptogether with seasonings (usually garlic, thyme, and whatever else I feel like throwing in). Sometimes I cook rutabaga with it too. Also like to just stir-fry the cabbage with onions and summer squash/zucchini. I like to eat veges raw too.

Sandye I can't wait until I am giving clothes away because they are too big. I do have a couple things that I'm not wearing anymore because the are too bulky.

Delphi

Jellofer2 Good luck on your doctor's visit!

Well, my weight is the same for the third day in a row My calories were higher yesterday than I would have liked but still in weight loss range. My legs are really sore from the indian workout so I'm thinking its still water weight.
Have a great Friday gals!!!

Jellofer2 You got your post in before me. As long as you're losing and not gaining is the main thing. Thats what I have to tell myself when I'm not losing as fast as I would like. It's very unlikely I will make my Sept. goal but its been a crazy month for me and as long as I have lost something and not gained I'm happy!

Delphi--that is so awesome that you found a place and that people are pitching in to help you! I am so glad for you!

SG--W2G on the scale dropping! I knew it had to be coming soon for you! Man I hope you get that treadmill--that would be such a life saver..... I'm crossing my fingers for you!

Jello--we have the same goal of 249 for Sept! Although I think you are going to make yours, lol. My BMI is still at 40 though---congrats on getting out of Extremely Obese..that is such a huge accomplishment! Maybe my new goal should just be to get taller instead of losing weight.....hmmmm!

Sandye--I have no idea how you managed to actually bake the cookies and not eat any. One of my blessings in not eating no-nos is they are not sitting around my house anymore since the separation from my ex, and I do not bake or the smell would get to me. Seriously if I had to bake cookies I would eat the dough as well as the finished product--you have such amazing willpower!

...Stupid freakin scale. Up another 2 pounds today. Doesn't surprise me as TOM is STILL here. Seriously it has been almost 2 weeks and I am getting pissed. I am watching my calories, drinking lots of water, avoiding sodium and working out harder than I ever have before and the scale is going UP. Each day I get on thinking, okay--it will drop now! "Only a few pounds to reach my goal with a week left--I can do that." And here it is with 5 days left, and I now have over 5 pounds left to lose instead of 3. Jerk TOM!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, 2 weeks? Go awaaaaaay! Well, needless to say I am losing faith that I am going to meet my goal this month. Unless TOM goes away and a bunch of water weight drops right away....but otherwise I fear I am just going to stay this weight for life. I will be on this thread in 2034 complaining I am still at 250-255, lol.

Well, anyways, not much else is new. Almost finally moved in completely to the new place. I joined the Biggest Loser Challenge on here, and we just had our first weigh in last week--I was the biggest loser our of both teams which was kinda cool! At least I have hope for when TOM is over, lol. This week I will probably be the biggest gainer, LMAO.

Evening Ladies,

Mystical - My favorite veggie way is roasted, it makes everything sweeter which is nice especially when you don't really like the bitter of some of them. eggplant, pepprs, cauliflower (oh with garlic and olive oil, that's awesome!), anything really. If you like salads that's a great way to get them in raw. As you know I'm all about the greek salads and you can just use spices and red wine vinegar with no dressing/oil and it's marvelous. I mix veggies in my rice/grain dishes to "hide" some more. We ended up with a beautiful day today so I hope that comes your way, well it'll take a few days to get over there

Jellofer - I think that's marvelous progress! I hope your doctor was at least somewhat supportive of how much you've accomplished, but if not, we sure are and I'm glad you're spirits came up. You should be very proud!

Ruth - that was an awesome workout! I love the sore feeling, no crippled but sore is nice. That's frustrating silly scale, let's hope for tomorrow.

Jessicado
- Goodness that's frustrating too, I can't imagine 2 weeks! That's just like right after the baby, and that was just gross, for soooo many reasons. Have no fear it will end and you already made your goal, you're the first one this month! It's the second goal that might be harder, so good for you on making the first one and fighting so hard for the second!

Aprilcp - Wtg on the 0.2lb, those ones are soo little but it's true it feels better than the other two options so i'll take those too.

Nella - Have fun at mom and dad's this weekend! Right on for the 178.4 That's sure a nice thing to see b/f heading off for the weekend.

I got a very pleasant surprise today, my friend sent me some Indigo gift cards for the clothes I sent her, $150.00 worth, I about feel over. To think of all the cookbooks I could buy.... I need to go online browsing later, they're good for the internt which is so great considering I live about and hour and a half from a bookstore.

The workout this afternoon perked up a bit, I've been having a hard time concentrating this week on my workouts, my mind has been wandering a bit, not good when you're supposed to be working hard and pushing yourself. But I went through the motions and finally this afternoon I got another quality workout in where I could actually get out of my head a bit and really push it. It's funny how TOM hormones really affect everything, but I guess b/f when I felt like garbage all the time I never noticed a big difference.

I got an obscene amount of stuff done today, I felt like superwoman. So glad things brightened up after that dismal run and yucky start to the day. TOM's still not really here after showing up yesterday, this has been one odd month, I can normally set a clock off my cycle but this weight loss seems to have altered things a bit.

Anyway, I'm off to sort through some schooling stuff, I toying with getting another degree while I'm off work and I need to go research it a bit. And then a little bit of book shopping might be in order

Alrighty enough of that, have a great night ladies, a great weekend and I';; catch up tomorrow!

Tummy Girl Wow $150.00 worth of cookbooks I would just be in heaven LOL. I love the indigo/chapters bookstores. I bought that Eat Clean Diet book, I thought it was the cookbook when I bought LOL. It has some good recipes in it and has some good reading material too so it wasn't for nothing. I am going to go back next week and get the eat clean diet cookbook it has allot of recipes that I want. Is there any others that you would suggest ?

Hello ladies! Wow, it's 11:15 and I'm still awake--that hasn't happened in a long time--but I had to stay up and watch Grey's!!!

Delphi~ Gee, I don't know how ya missed it--perhaps you were a bit preoccupied with something...what was it?Hmm...was it laundry, no...kids, no..., oh that's right--LOOKING FOR A NEW PLACE!! So, how'd it go today? Did you get all the papers signed and get the keys in your hot little hands? I'm so freakin' happy for you!!! I can't tell you how relieved I was to see your post yesterday!

SG~ Welcome Back hun! It's nice to have ya back!!! Now that's the kind of post I'm used to seeing from you! So glad you're feeling better and back to your old Mrs. Doubtfire kinda self!! You were killin' me talking about your hubby!! Mine doesn't have the guts to do my 8 min ab workout Well, he probably does, but he doesn't want me to kick his butt doing it is what I really think is going on. Super cool about your ils maybe giving you a treadmill! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Tummy~ sorry TOM put a damper on your run, I fully expected him to do that to me yesterday but I was good. Let's hope it's the same tomorrow...I made some more pumpkin breakfast cookies today but added some protein powder...it totally changed the texture in a massive way! They're all super puffy and airy--not nice and dense. But, they're edible so I can give them to the kids when they're refusing 'real' food (the girls are currently boycotting any real meal ). Dear girl, I think you've lost your mind! Jacque absolutely deserves to have her story in the mag--me? No way. It's nothing special and I'm not even at goal yet anyway. Besides, I wouldn't have a clue as to what to write anyway! Well, except maybe "Drink Your Water!!!" But thanks for the nomination! That was super sweet. Oooh, have fun shopping for books!! I would be giddy if I got a $150 gift card for a bookstore! Oooh, the cookbooks I could buy!

Mystical~ did you make them yet? Did ya? Mmmm, they smell so good baking! And I tried one today--YUM!!! Not super sweet like normal pumpkin bread, but very yummy!! I never ate veggies before, hence my recurring goal to eat more veggies, I love zucchini, yellow squash, asparagus, fresh garlic all chopped up and sauteed in a pan with a little olive oil spray or the real stuff with lemon juice and this stuff I bought called Grilling Seasons Vegetable Seasoning by Simply Organic--it's super yummy! I do wish I could find more seasonings like it--I just toss all the stuff in a bowl with a lid, toss to coat the seasoning and toss it in the pan. When it's almost done I toss in some sliced grape tomatoes and when it's just about done I add a giant handful of baby spinach and toss until it's wilted. Now you can call it finished and start eating or you can add chopped chicken and a serving of pasta and call it a meal! That's usually what I do. Oh, there's also some other seasoning that I'll add at the end, it's Land o Lakes seasoning--Parmesan Herb, there's other flavors too but that's my fave. Other than that, I'm just trying different recipes and not having much success (remember my over done eggplant? ). If I discover any tasty veggie dishes I'll let ya know!

Jellofer~ sorry to hear your hubby is so sick! I hope he's feeling better soon! Congrats on the lower BMI!! That's awesome!! I'm sure the upped weight at the dr's office was clothing, difference in scales, ya know nothing big. But I understand you wanting to see that lower number. Keep up the great work! Your goal is just around the corner!

Ruth~ sorry Darth Scale is being a jerk--you're right though, it's probably just a fluctuation and could definitely be post workout retention! You'll be giving your clothes away in no time! Just keep up the great work!!

Jessica~ Oh I can tell you with 100% certainty you will not be this weight forever!!! Dang TOM and his stupid issues--2 weeks? For the love of Pete, that's quite enough!!! I can't stand it when my cycle gets all wonky!! Being a girl sucks sometimes doesn't it? Hang in there kiddo, I bet you'll end up with a big post TOM swoosh soon!! And yeah, baking muffins doesn't get to me and that's what these cookies are more like--muffins, but if I was baking actual cookies...hmm...I don't think I'd be singing the same tune. I bet some batter would have mysteriously found it's way inside my mouth and more than a few cookies would have as well. I'm not quite ready to attempt cookie baking unsupervised yet.

April~ congrats on the loss! I can't wait until it's in the 50's here! I love cool Fall weather!!

Nella~ Congrats on the loss and have a great time this weekend with your parents!!!

*Yawn* Good gravy I'm tired! I can't believe I used to stay up until 1:00-2:00am on a regular basis! What was I thinking?!?!

Well, got the bananas all used up in some good ol' regular banana bread muffins for the fam--reduced calorie and fat of course, but nothing 'extra' added so I don't have to wonder if the kids will like them .

I have my run tomorrow and I've decided to sleep in and eat something small before my run. I normally don't eat before running and last Saturday I started running at around 8:00 (usually get going at around 5:30) and it was a crappy run to be sure. So I want to see if eating a little something first helps at all. Also, tomorrow I will have exactly one week to prep for my first 5K!!! Geez, I can't believe how fast that got here!

That day is also my oldest ds' birthday and we'll be having a little cake & ice cream gig here on Sunday so I gotta get on the ball with planning that too. Egad!

Well ladies, I'm heading to bed! I am officially no longer a night owl! Hope everyone has a great night sleep!!! Catch y'all tomorrow!

Helloooo Ladies!

Well someone slap me over the head and wipe the shocked expression off my face.. the scale said 208.0! That's right... right on the money. Half a pound more and I'll be calling my September goal! I just have to be reallly reallly reallly good this weekend and I think I'll have done it! So.... don't anyone congratulate me yet on goal... but I see the finish line!!!

I've got a fairly busy day ahead of me. I'm off to work out as soon as Curves opens up, then on to the grocery shopping, then home to do some laundry and straighten up the house, then on to working at the town festival and then possibly going to an unofficial class reunion. It could be a very looooong day! I'm sure I'll find it easy to stay OP though with goal so close!

Tummy Haha, I was cracking myself up when I wrote that lettuce bit. It's nice to know someone else finds me funny too! I'm usually cracking jokes like that to my students and they just stare at me like I'm from another planet.... teenagers... SHEESH. I'm totally down with Sandye and Jacque sharing their stories! They've inspired me... why not thousands of other people? Oooh school! I would be one of those professional students if they paid me instead of me paying them! What would you go for?

mystical I had the same problem with veggies, I would buy them but not know how to prepare them and so they'd just rot on my counter. I recently bought a little book called The Field Guide to Produce (you can search for it on amazon) and while not being the end-all of books for produce it does have some nice advantages: it's small so you can fit it in your purse which means that you can identify something that looks interesting at the grocery store or farmers market, it doesn't have recipes but it does tell you what flavors mesh well with that particular fruit or vegetable which I like more than recipes since it enables you to experiment on your own with the superior knowledge that all those chefs in the world seem to have. There are other produce guides out there that DO include recipes so you may want to shop around for what suits your needs.

jellofer Congrats on the BMI improvement! That is a fantastic achievement and you should feel great about your progress!

ruth Here's hoping your scale will move in a big way very very soon!

jessicado Man oh man, you and TOM don't seem to be getting along! I'm sending him a mental kick in the butt to get him to leave you alone!!! I've been meaning to ask you how your C25K is coming along? I saw over on the exercise thread you're on week 2, congrats!

Nella Have a great time with your parents this weekend!

idream Thanks! It's nice to BE back! Gosh... one week until your 5K! I sure hope someone is going to be there to take pictures of you crossing that finish line! What an accomplishment that's going to be!

Well girls, I'm off! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Morning Ladies,

Mystical - LOL I almost did that too, I really like the Complete Light Kitchen by Rose Reisman, it's full of recipes that are awesome but that Eat clean one is soo my favourite. There's a new eat clean cookbook coming out in October too so I preordered that one last night with my gift cards! I've been living off those two books for a month and a bit now and I'm still not through all the recipes I wasnt to try! Oh I'm also ordering the Eat Clean cookbook for families and kids so I'll let you know how that one is too.

Sandye - Sandye, Sandye, Sandye, tsk, tsk, do you know how many ppl here think you're super amazing? And that you're a sahm of 4 (that's quadruple what I have), with twins! who has managed to loss 60 stinking pounds, who can run 5k without stopping and is in the best shape she's been in in forever! I think that would inspire tons of people and ppl do need reminders to drink their water you know, lol. Oh i think you might like the Eat Clean Cookbook too there's a bar recipe in there and some breakfast cookies and some muffins too, and you won't have to fiddle with them to make them healthy (and it has nutritional info!) OMG you're 5K is almost here, so excited! I can't wait until you've done that, what an amazing thing to add to your success story

SG - Woohoo, here's a happy dancing fatty for 208!! I'm with you on the jokes, that's why my dh and I get along so well, we're both really funny or at least we think so, lol. Some ppl just stare at us but we tink we're hilarious. And what is it about Bio teachers, mine I was telling you about was super goofy and hilarious but I only really appreciate that now, I used to think him a bit bizarre. I'm toying with a bachelor of science majoring in human sciences, dh is thinking my masters in social work would be nice (he sees dollar signs though) but I'm very limited in what I can take b/c it has to be mostly online. We do however live super close to the largest correspondance university in Canada so that's a huge bonus. I'd love to do food sciences, maybe a dietitian but I can't take the courses I need up here. So if I do the Bsc then I can transfer it over once we're closer to a larger city. Oh the grand plans I have, lol. Have a great time with your super busy day and you're so making goal, just keep your eye on the prize!

So quiet on the weekends here, I always forget everyone else has weekends sometimes. Nothing fancy today, just some more school research, getting the mail and all that delightfulness. The scale returned to it's previous glory of 164.8, so that half pound yesterday has gone again, still no TOM but he's allowed to be late I guess. Ok have a great weekend ladies!

Good morning ladies!

SG~ Hey girlie!!! You are SOOOO close to your goal!! I'm so excited for you! You're rockin' it this month!!! For the record, I think you're funny--your humor is right up my alley! I would've been stoked if any of my teachers had had such a great sense of humor! As for the 5K, I'm going to ask hubby to be there with camera on hand--I want to be sure to document this historical event! LOL

Tummy~ haha, okay, okay...so I guess maybe it might be worth it to jot down a couple of lines--of course I'll need to put on my Super Witty Cap (if I can find it) before I start. Congrats on getting rid of that little TOM gain! I hear ya on the wonky cycle--before I started this journey I was experiencing wonky cycles for the first time ever--late one month (Geez was that ever a terrifying month! ), early the next...it was a pain. Then once I started exercising and losing a bit of weight they became regular again. However, instead of my usual 7 full days of blech, it's one day here, off a day, a couple of days there, off another day...it's weird. Only thing I can chalk it up to is decreased body fat maybe? My friend is super duper fit--enters body building competitions fit and her cycles, if you can call them that, are usually just a few hours a month if that. Anyway, all that to say, I hear ya! Thanks for the tip on the cookbook--I think that'll be next on my list of books to get!!

Okay, so this is such a weird day for me! I'm all outta my routine and stuff this morning and it's got me all

First, I went to bed late, then the girls decided that last night would be a good night to wake up a million times (see, I jinxed it didn't I?), I woke up around 7:30 (over 2 hours later than my usual time) and instead of heading right out the door to run, I ate a snack and waited a while (about 45 mins/hr) and then ran. Of course that threw off my whole exercise/breakfast/shower routine, but on the up side, I didn't feel sick while I was running which was what I concerned about. I also didn't get a stitch in my side like I thought I might with the water I drank. So

And, and, and...I ran my fastest 3 miles yet!!! 30:58!!! True, I'm not speed demon, but I'm getting faster!!

Scale was down a bit today too--170 even at 7:30 this morning. I'm going to guess it would have been a bit higher had I woke up at my usual time, but I'm going to go ahead and take it!

So I gotta tell you about the conversation hubby and I had this morning...

Long story short he asked me if I thought maybe I was getting 'too skinny'. He said that he thinks I need to stop dieting and maybe regain a few pounds. His issue is that my body has changed so much from what it was before and that my butt and boobs are gone--hello...that's kinda what I was goin' for dear! Anyway, we had a long talk about how I'm not really interested in going below 135 and that after that I'll just be working on toning up. He still took issue with other things though, primarily food. He says I 'no longer find joy in eating' to which I replied, 'I no longer look to food for joy' I just don't think he gets how much of an emotional eater I was. How addicted to carbs and sweets I truly was. I also think he's feeling a bit left out and doesn't feel motivated to join me right now so he's making up things to take issue with--kwim? Not like he's trying to sabotage my efforts, but I dunno, maybe he just wants the old eating/drinking/sedentary part of me back for a bit so he doesn't feel bad about not eating right and exercising. Lastly, I've mentioned before that he was married before. They were together for 7 years and the whole time his ex was overweight. When they got engaged and started planning the wedding she started dieting and lost a good amount of weight. She ended up cheating on him and they divorced within a few months. It was a case of losing weight/getting attention from other guys/thinking the grass is greener elsewhere. So I think that is another factor in his thinking as well. So I brought that up at the end of our conversation and assured him that I wasn't going anywhere and that I loved him more than ever so he need not worry about me straying.

Whew! Sorry for the novel. I just have mixed feelings on this whole thing. I mean, I hear what he's saying and I honestly don't think I'm 'too skinny'. On the other hand, I also know that my brain hasn't caught up with the fact that I'm not fat anymore either so what I see in the mirror isn't exactly what other people see in real life, kwim? On the other hand, I'm a little irked that he's not just supportive and proud of what I've done. I mean, he is, but he tends to nag me about being too thin or asking me 'when are you going to stop?' more than saying things like, 'I'm so proud of you!' or 'I can't believe you're running 3 miles without stopping, that's awesome!'. Sigh...

Who knew that me getting healthy and in better shape would be an issue for him?

Anyway, I'll shut up now. I just had to get that off my chest. I've got 2 more pounds to go and when I get to goal and stop losing maybe then he'll feel better about it.

Well girls, gotta go make the troops lunch! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Get out there and have a great weekend and don't forget to...

Just a quick hello to everyone, I have been so lazy this week with work and life just taking over. I have not caught up on the last few pages so can't comment yet. I hope everyone is doing well and I hope my weigh in tomorrow isn't to scary (been OP but lacking in the exercise dept). Have a great day everyone.
