wow, great job OnePerDecade...getting to move that little ticker is so exciting.

I'm new to this board, so hello all you calorie counters...we're all in this together .

I am in lurveeee with Fitday. It makes me so happy to see that what I'm putting into my body is meeting daily requirements of this or that and that my protein to carb ratio is getting better! I usually try to stick to around 1200 calories a day.

I am never quite sure of what to think of their amount of calories burned in a day (which number am I supposed to use?!?!) Since I've been trying to more actively lose weight, I like to get in 10,000 steps a day, and do basic toining exercises for about 30 minutes daily...and in January I'm planning on adding more exercises to my weekly routine.

OPD, that is awesome! Congratulations on your accomplishment thus far. How much are you losing per week? I'm hoping its better than my weekly loss (which is often a positive number rather than a negative..ugh, darn that fitday).

Finally signed a contract at the gym. They gave me a bit of a break on childcare price so I feel better. I just had a hard time especially since their child care hours are limited to 9-11 am and 5:15-7:30 pm. Just wasnt getting weights done at home. I can get up early to do my running, but anything else just is too hard to get up for.

Good for you ennay, it is a real challenge to actually go over there and sign up. How old is your little sweetie now? I have a 6 month old myself. What a joy she is..she was definitely worth this horrific weight gain. LOL

Mami, the one in the picture is 2 months old, and I have an almost 3 year old. I had been working out at the gym all last week and working on them because what they charge for the facilities - compared to other gyms- is ludicrous. They are taking advantage of the fact that they are the ONLY gym in town. So I was pretty happy when they came down in price for childcare pass.

Oh ennay, that is wonderful. That was how my day started out today. I headed to the gym for the first time in ............oh gosh who the heck knows, maybe a decade. I figured it was high time, if I wanna keep this weightloss up and I most definitely do it's time to kick it up a notch with the exercise. So I go there and I ask the girl at the desk if someone could show me around, and she says NO. She's says I can look on my own, but there's no one who does that. They will show you around, take measurements and weigh you when you join. And I'm like how do I know if I wanna join if I don't know if I'll like the place. Anyway I look around, am totally CLUELESS on how to use the big scary machines and I walked out.

Enjoy the gym ennay, as for me I guess it's back to my videos.

* And yes I know there are other gyms, but this one is really convienient and the price is right. So whatever, maybe I guess I should join and THEN they'll show me around. But how do I even know if I'll be able to use the big scary machines? And do they deserve my money?

rockinrobin - almost ALL gyms will give you a trial membership for a week. Go in and ask for one. A few charge but most will give it for free. Do not take no for an answer. I would be very leery of a gym that wouldnt show you around, most gyms do.

I asked them about checking out the place for a week and she said well maybe a day. This is a big national chain gym, so I don't know what to think. Perhaps I will call them one night this week, so chances are my "friend" at the desk today won't be there. Maybe they will have something different to tell me. Come to think of it I had called them a while ago and I'm thinking maybe they did in fact tell me I could try for a week. I'll definitely give them a call.

Today's calories: 1067 in, approx 3000 out (that could increase depending on whether I get to exercise tonight). All in all, pretty good - especially since I am a tad bit stressed with my son deploying tomorrow, the phone company mistakenly shutting off my cell for most of the day (and my spouse works there for the love of cheese...*sigh*) and my autistic toddler discovering that pulling my hair is an effective method of communication.
Some days, I just have to laugh or else I'd lose my mind

I plan on joining the gym this week. I have had a month free pass and now it is up this week and they have free day care, but only from 9-12a and 5-9p. i go with my friend about 9a until i start work again. Sometimes I think I do more at home with my treadmill, weights, and videos, but the social part of it, I can't get at home. So it's a toss. let those other gyms know that 24 hour fitness gives month free passes and free day care. ofcourse it probably won't do any good unless they think there might be one opening in the area .

1839 cal in; no exercise today
