  • Congrats on the treadmill Eilui! I love the one at the gym.

I found for fitday and had to put myactivity level extremely low. I think bedridden even though I am fairly active to have the calorie counts come out right.

    Sunday: 2451 calories, 118 surplus
  • Intake 1900
    Output 3565

Not sure if I calculated that correctly (Lifestyle 1213, exercise 793, basal metabolism 1559). Please correct me if i'm not suppose to use basal.

    Leaving a deficit of -1665.

    Thank you!

For yesterday, 1794 calories, and I hit all of my goals like water, calcium, and eating breakfast. Yay!
  • Hi everyone. I've been around 3FC, all around, that is for a few months now, and I think this is where I belong as well. Because I am counting calories and it has been succesful for me, although I have a loooong way to go I plan on doing this forever. I see that you basically post your calories for the day here. Problem is I don't like Fitday, sorry, I know most everyone here does. I just don't find it accurate enough for me and therefore it bugs me. And I find the activity component very inaccurate. Any suggestions on what I can do to make it work better for me or do any of you know of another website I can use? Or I suppose I can keep using the old noggin and hope that I'm being accurate. So besides posting calories is there anything else I should know about this thread/forum? I look forward to getting to know you all better. I do see some familiar "faces" around here. Have a good day everyone.
  • Hey, rockinrobin.

I use a computer program called Diet Power. I tried using FitDay a while ago and found that I like programs like Diet Power better. But it's not free.

I don't know of any websites. I hope someone else will have a better answer.

  • Rockinrobin - I am only concerned with calories at this time, so I just use a Mead Composition notebook to record my calories and weekly weight. Its 200 pages allow for 200 days of counting calories.
  • I am cruising along at about 1500-1600 per day...higher tham my personal goal but still about a 1200-1500 calorie deficit per day. I was blaming DH & his stupid Christmas cookies but since I don't remember him holding me down & cramming cookies down my throat, I guess I have to take responsiblity on this one...*sigh*
  • rockinrobin- I also use a notebook to keep track of calories and exercise. I go to www.calorieking.com just to find out calories for certain foods. I do not pay for their other services. I haven't found a real accurate activity calculator yet. Still looking, but until then I use fitday for activity calories. Let me know if you find a good site.
  • Thanks everyone. You girls have got to try Nutritiondata.com. It has calorie counts and nutritional information that is priceless, priceless. I think I'm okay just doing it the way that I was - no fit day and just checking on calorie counts of foods. And for activity counts, what's the difference really, you've got to do what you've got to do? I don't think for me personally it would make much of a difference. I've been sticking to 1100-1300 calories a day. And I don't beat myself up over it if I exceed that ocassionally by 100 calories or so.
  • Hi everyone!

I had an earache today so I didn't get any exercise in.

    Monday: 1785 calories, 563 deficit
  • 1585 for today, and I hit my goals for the third day in a row. I'm on a roll.

I track when I exercise, and how long, but I don't really count on those calories really being burnt. My treadmill says that by exercising 30 minutes at 2 miles/hour, I burnt 92 calories. My program says only 64. I'm finding other resources that say 120 or 140. I don't really know what to believe, but I'll just trust that getting moving is helping without worrying about whether I'm burning much right now.

If that's kinda foolish, tell me!

Getting moving is the most important. It is really the only important part.

Some of the discrepancy between calorie reports is that some report net calorie burn and some report gross. So if you were lying in bed, breathing and digesting your food for 30 minutes you'd still be burning some number of calories in that time. Lets call it 40 calories. If you walk 2 mph for 30 minutes or 1 mile you might burn 130 calories in that time. So GROSS you burned 130 calories. But you were gonna burn 40 anyway so you only increased your calorie burn by 90 calories (NET calorie burn)

Some of the discrepancy is if they dont take your weight into account.

Besides, calorie burn varies depending on many factors including how fit you are. Heart rate affects calorie burn significantly. Thats why you have to keep bumping it up as you get more fit!
  • 1280 calories today
    60 minutes treadmill/stretching
  • Ok, for the first time, I will attempt to list my calories on here... be cool, like the rest of ya'll.

    Calories eaten: approx 1400.
Deficit: 1030 (did 40 minutes of strength training and 30 of cardio)

Eating was all right... my big problem this week is since I am scheduled to close most of the week, I wont be eating dinner until late.. which makes it hard to stay up the 3 hours after eating that I normally like to do.

BUT! Since my hours are long (1-10), Ive had to find ways to work out in between.. Ive been waking up at around 9 am and actually working out BEFORE work, while the boyfriend is still sleeping.. and I find that I actually like it! Work out, hot shower, get dressed.. Im actually rather shocked that I look forward to working out in the morning! Strength training I leave until late at night (like 11 pm), after eating dinner and giving myself time to digest. Tomorrow, thankfully, Im not closing, so I get to work out and eat earlier! (im still waking up earlier to do cardio though. )

Hope everyone's having a fantastic week! (i would do individual replies to everyone, but Im starting to feel rather sleepy.. I did read all written, and you all get hugs from me, for being so amazing!)
  • day 104 = 1335 calories
    day 105 = 1245 calories

I was feeling light this morning, so I got on the scale one day earlier than I was supposed to. I only lost 0.2 lbs this week, a big drop from the normal 2 lbs. I have not cheated this week at all. I've looked back at my calories for this week and think perhaps I dropped my calories too low this week in a haste to lose weight by Christmas. I have been eating 1200 - 1390 all this week. I have had a few days at this calorie count before, but I always had more days at around 1500 - 1600 calories. So I plan to up my calories a bit this week so that my body will start letting go of the weight again.
