Congratulations Angel!!! That's so cool that you and your mom did it together

I'm totally getting discouraged!!! My weight has not budged ever since Easter. I have been stuck here for almost a month now. It's so frustrating. I'm thinking I might be at one of those dreaded plateaus. UGH!

Chele- being stuck stinks!! But hang in there...keep doing everything right and it will move again. I was stuck most of the winter months.

I lost 1.2lbs putting me to the 95lbs mark. Thats is over 4lbs this challenge so far. I hate that weight loss has slowed so much but I know I can eat like this for life and that is what it will take to keep it off!!
Exercise has to increase again today.
hugs to all

DG, wtg on the 95 lbs lost!

Chele, good luck with the scale. Stick with it, and it will get moving again. Sometimes your body just does that, even though you're POP. You can try shaking things up by switching your exercise plan, if it's been a while since you did so, or shaking up the diet a little.

Angel, to you and your mom on the 5K! That's not a bad walking time at all! My sister and I are doing a 5K in June or July, I think. She wanted somebody to do it with her, so I volunteered. We're doing it together this time, instead of going for best time. Last time we split up, but that wasn't as much fun, IMO.

This morning's "Mother's Day" workout was brutal, but since it involved two of my favorite barbell lifts, I wasn't really suffering. About 1 in the morning tomorrow night is when I'll be suffering, since that's about when the soreness will hit my shoulders and neck, lol. I'm buying the big bottle of tylenol at Costco so I can at least be prepared. Still haven't had a chance to really work on my pull-up goal, but maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow may be a lifting/focus day for us, and if that's the case, I should be able to abuse myself a bit with the pull-ups either before or after the workout. I'll get there early and see how it goes.

Barb, glad to hear that the weekend was a success!

Well, I tried to work on my pull-ups with the blue band today, but my shoulders were really stiff and sore from the previous two killer workouts, so I changed the plan a bit. I tried some singles of unassisted pull-ups on the bar, and can get my eyes and nose over the bar, but not quite the "chin over the bar" we're looking for. Still, major progress, so it may be that even the blue band is giving too much assistance at this point. I will play around with it and see what works best there.

For today, though, some ladies were playing with ring pull-ups, and my friend said I should try it, so I did, and I almost got my chin over on those, from a deadhang! Those are slightly easier, since you can get some help from the biceps with the palms facing each other, so it's sorta like cheating, but anything unassisted is a victory for me at this point! So, really, really close on those, even though they're not part of my challenge goal. Then, my friend and I played with muscle up progressions on the rings, with the rings down low so we could self-assist using our legs and/or feet. I didn't do so hot at those, but it was fun to try..it's sort of a ring pull-up then a killer ring dip combo, and I don't actually have the ring dips yet. We were just fooling around, though, and that was fun!

For our workout today, we did overhead press, aka shoulder press (as in taking the barbell from chest high to overhead with no assistance from the hips or legs. I got 85 pounds overhead, which was a new record for me. I tried 90 pounds 3 or 4 times, but couldn't get it up past my eyeballs, lol. It did not help that everybody was cracking jokes this morning...hard to get all serious and aggressive with a barbell when you're laughing.

I'm trying a bit of a higher carb/calorie day today, since I'm feeling a bit gassed from the workouts lately. Hopefully a re-feed day today will help give me a little more energy in reserve. That's the theory, anyway!

Where is everybody today?

Well, crossfit workout is done. Went in early today and worked on my pull-ups, but no luck with the blue band pull-ups, as far as stringing more than 2 together at a go. I just keep losing the rhythm/momentum of the kip, and have to start my swing all over again. I've got the green band pull-ups licked, so I know there's hope for me, and it will just take as long as it takes, I guess.

I'm off in a few minutes to work for a few hours, then skating tonight, probably just 2 hours, since I did something to my ankle last Friday. As long as I lay off the session races at the rink for a week or so, it should heal up just fine. Been there, done that with this ankle about a million times, so NBD, really, just a temporary annoyance. I'll check in with you peeps later!

Okay, peeps, this is getting embarrassing. I'm talking to myself! Somebody take pity on me and post, so I don't look like a total nutter.

Running and rowing for my workout today. TOM is over, so I'm hot in pursuit of the 160s while I'm not fighting the 2 week TOM bloat-fest. I'm hoping for a 169.8 or better in the next 2 weeks, and that means super clean eats, and taking every workout for all it's worth! Also still chasing my two remaining Memorial Day Challenge goals: the push-ups and pull-ups. The pull-up one is hardest, since they show up so frequently in high reps in our workouts. It's hard to get enough recovery time to really hit those full-strength in my warm-up.

Jam, It has been pretty quiet here lately. Good luck at getting the 160s.

Barb - glad the weekend was good for you.

DG - great job - congrats at the 95 lbs gone.

Chele - Try changing things up to see if you can break the plateau.

Angel - congrats on the 5k.

Hi to everyone else.

I just realized I have not posted in a week. I have been a little sick lately but I am starting to think that it is allergies. I feel horrible all morning and fine in the afternoon.

I was up in weight last week but currently back to 179. I am not expecting to see much loss in the next week since it will be TOM.

I did run again last night. I broke my old record and went 6 miles last night. Still averaging 11 min per mile so that is not improving but at least I went farther. I stretched and used the foam roller on my legs after the run and my legs feel pretty good today. They are a little sore but not bad.

I am off now to boot camp at the gym.

Oh my god....that would have FREAKED me out!!! I hate snakes so much!!! I remember when I was little, a little green garter snake slithered past me in the backyard when I was running through the grass to go swimming in the pool. I don't think I stepped foot in the backyard for months after that without making someone else go first and make sure there were no snakes.

How's everyone been doing? I haven't been around much because I have been pretty disappointed this whole challenge. I have been stuck in a plateau and my weight has barely budged at all!!! So, I haven't felt like I had much of a reason to come talk.
