Shauna, I took a rest day today, too. I think that long run just took the stuffing out of me, which would explain my exhaustion yesterday before I even started my lifting workout. I think it helped, as I'm feeling a lot better tonight. I'll be 100% tomorrow and ready to do another crossfit WOD! :faint: It's not wonder those peeps rest every 4th day, lol.

FB... SKATING? That's what I'm talking about! Did the boy like it?

JG, glad you are feeling better!

Nothing new to report here, just checking in to see if I missed anything exciting. Spent today decluttering the pantry, checked out the broken heater which apparently needs a new thermostat, and made some progress on the 2009 planning/budget. Not bad for a Saturday.

Spoke to the BBB. She was shopping and buying healthy groceries! She's been doing great with eating healthy and her pants are getting loose! I reminded her that she needs to get on here and give FB her trucking report. :s:

Good Morning Gang! :)

What a weekend here. We've been visiting with friends since Friday. Yesterday we had everyone to our house and it turned into quite the unexpected day....we ended up in the ER with one friend's teenage daughter from about 6pm - 1am. She is doing fine. Given the time, we ended up with 5 unexpected houseguests and very little sleep for all. It was not a good time, but I'm glad we were able to be there for our friends. They left a short time ago and I'm chilling out with the boys and my internet friends for a bit. Then I'm going to head to the gym, meet with a friend and back home to watch the EAGLES play!

Alright Jammy & FB....I strapped on my Polar F11 for yesterday's workout. It was just shy of 90 minutes....5 min warmup on the elliptical, 55 min training session and 30 min elliptical. According to the HRM I burned 1618 calories, 55% fat. Avg HR was 65%, max was 82%. Over 1,600 calories....seriously?????

Doing my best to remember the w/o...I don't write anything down since my trainer is leading me through it. Reading what you guys do I feel like a total wimp! Frank does let me push myself on the weights, but we don't push to failure. My weights increase gradually, we do 2 sets of most everything more in a circuit fashion and 15-18 reps of most. He did have me do drop down sets on bis and tris a couple w/os ago. I'm still learning so much...I've been working with my trainer for nearly 6 months. The progress I've seen since the beginning is crazy. Every few weeks he changes up the w/o. We talked about doing more with the bosu ball soon. I could go on and on, but I'll stop for now...Here you have yesterday's w/o the best I can recall.

Leg Extension Machine: 95# x 18reps, 95# x 15reps
Hip up curl ins using a ball: 18 reps x 2
Leg Press Machine: 240# x 18, 2nd time feet wide #245 x 15
Ab/Ad Machine: 140# x 20 (each direction)
Treadmill: walking sideways, 2% incline, speed 1.7, 1 min each side x 2
Box Steps ups: Step about 12in, 8#DB, 25 reps. 2nd set I kick back my follow leg instead of bringing it to the step
Body Weight Squats: holding 12#DB, 15 reps
Ab Machine: 140# x 25
Ball crunches: holding 6#db, 25 reps x 2. Once straight up, once alternating
Knee ups: laying on incline bench. 3 sets of 20.
Chest Press: 15#DBx18, 20#DBx15
Shoulder Press: 10#DBx15, 2 sets
Lateral Raises: 10#DBx12
Reverse Lat Pulldown: 60#x15
Tricep: 20#DB x 15, 2 sets
Bicep Curls on the cable: 40#x15, 2 sets
Incline Push ups on the Smith Machine: 15
Seated Row machine: 80# x 18

I think that about sums it up. What do you think? Go easy on me. :^:

Have to run for now. I typed this sporadically while the boys ate lunch and watched TV...time for nap so I can hit the gym. :)

Laters....

BARB! Over 1600 calories?! Imma fly Frank out to me, okay? Just borrow him for a little bit. :) Bows down to your workoutty self. Look at you.

I did legs tonight. You know, I've never done those AB/AD machines, ever. I have a confession about them. I sweat a lot, lot, lot, lot and am scared butt sweat will be visible to all if I do them or that my period started without my being aware.

You're a TOUGH B! B for Barb, you know. ;) More on your crazy workout later - I'm exhausted from my wimpy 850 cal. workout.

FB 01-18-2009 10:38 PM

Jams - the little guy LOVED skating. I think it may become a regular Saturday event. We're usually so lazy on Saturdays. My husband works and we chill out. I feel guilty at the end of the day after we've done absolutely nothing. Kids need physical time too, duh.

The rink offers lessons every Saturday. My guy and I will be hotdogging it in no time, like those showoff backwards skaters.

Hi, lot's of gym stuff going on here. I had a small setback this week and gained a pound. Don't know why exactly but it's there. Hopefully, it will be gone this week.

jamsk8r 01-19-2009 02:14 AM

Hi Isabella! You'll get that pound gone in no time!

I had a bazillion calorie meal tonight, for my sister's Bday. After we ate, my 2 sisters started talking about MY bday in June, and where should we go to eat. We joked about cheesecake factory and only eating cheesecake. But, you know what? I am feeling DONE with celebratory dinners already! What is the point of eating a mazillion freaking cals of stuff I don't normally eat, and it's just not that good, then I have to spend the next week or three working it off. How dumb is that? So, I need to think of a new way for my family to celebrate. Like, maybe we should enter a 5K or go hiking or something cool, not throwing down a bunch of money for high calorie, high carb, high sodium food! I'm revolting. No, not like that :frypan:, like I'm going to revolt. Sheesh, stay with me here! So, my sister C's bday isn't till March. Maybe I can talk her into doing something cool for her bday that doesn't involve off-plan food, because her and her dh are on Atkins maintenance anyway, so they don't need it either...nobody does! Any ideas for cool ways to celebrate that don't involve bad food, lay them on me. In fact, it shouldn't even involve sitting around at all.

Alright, sorry about the rant. :blah:

Barb! Strong arms and shoulders, I noticed! Also, those leg curls on the ball are killer. I can do about ten before I collapse, so I am impressed! 1600 cals in one workout?!!! I need a trainer like that!

FB, I am so glad the boy liked the skating! When you and Barb and myself get together on the other side of maintenance, we can have a butt-kicking workout, then I think we should go skating, and I will show the boy some jamskating moves. Kids always pick it up right away, plus they're cuter than grown-ups when they dance. ;) Lessons are always a good idea. I'm thinking of taking some again, because I have some balance issues...bad habits from skating in circles for too many years. I need to re-learn to get my center of gravity where it belongs, instead of always too much on the left leg. I've tried to fix it myself, but I think I need a pro to whip me back into shape.

Brook, wow, you are doing awesome on this challenge! I wish I could get 10 lbs out of one of these, but lately that just hasn't been happening for me. The bazillion cal dinner tonight isn't going to help either, I reckon, but I've been angelically good otherwise! Workouts, it is ALL about the workouts for me, so I need to get them in earlier in the day, and stop waiting till 9 or 10 pm, when I'm tired!

chubbyphotographer 01-19-2009 11:41 AM

BarbPA 01-19-2009 10:04 PM

Hi CC Friends!

Just a fly by tonight. Mondays are typically long days and today was even longer due to a bit of snow and 2.5 hour drive home! Ack! It normally takes 1 hour which is bad enough. Thankfully my trainer was able to wait for me and I still got in my training session. Basically the same workout as Saturday. I noticed the weights on the leg press and leg ext were a little higher than I originally thought by about 10 or so pounds and I bumped up the treadmill a touch on the side steps, oh...and went a notch lower on the Smith machine pushups.

Now I think I'll go pass out in bed....sweet dreams to all!
:)

FB 01-19-2009 10:57 PM

Barb, your workout is entirely a solid one. Why did you ask us to go easy on you? Crazy! I forget, how many times per week are you seeing Frank and Heidi? Is it 3 and cardio the other days? Full body workouts are killer hard on me. Since I'm a lazy butt I do splits.

Tonight was shoulders and back. Some steroid guy asked where I learned my shoulder routine. I immediately started worrying I was doing something wrong. He said it was an intense workout, that he's never seen a woman do something like that. I just said, 'I read a lot' and put my iPod back on to prevent further conversation.

I don't know why he meant by that. Is it that uncommon for a woman to do a lot of isolation exercises?

FB 01-19-2009 11:03 PM

Jamsta - Experiences other than food is a wonderful way to celebrate various days. I've requested shooting lessons, horseback riding, long bike rides with a healthy picnic, hikes and so on. On my anniversary my husband and I did an anniversary gym challenge, trying to wipe each other out.

If it's strictly girl time, and you're girly sorts you could do a workout or run, followed by a massage, pedicure or something else kinda splurgey. I LOVE outdoor stuff with healthy picnics. That way the focus isn't a carb load.

I sooooooooooooooo want to skate gracefully. I can't figure out how to brake. I just slam into walls.

nicki rose98 01-19-2009 11:11 PM

Okay hope it's not too late to jump in on this challenge. So how much to lose by Vday? I'm gonna say....7 pounds.

SW: 208lbs
GW: 201lbs

Woo hoo! My first 3FC challenge!
