FB, that is cool that you pulled the boy on the sled! See, I am lazy. When my boy was 4 years old, I had the DOG pull him on a sled. He liked going fast on the sled, too. Back in the day, before the boy, my friend and I used to put our dogs in their weight pull harnesses, which have a wooden bar at the back. We'd get the saucer sleds, and we'd line the dogs up for a race. You sit on the saucer sled, grab the spreader bar at the back of the dog's harness. One person stands at the other end of the yard and calls the dogs. If you're really good, you can hold on and get the ride of your life. Lots of times, though, you'd get about a third of the way there before the dog rips you off the sled, and you drag the rest of the way on your face. Good times! :D
Re: the weighted sled. Our sled weighs 35 lbs, I think. I warmed up with a truck tire first, then the sled, then added 30 lbs of plates, then the last set I had 50 lbs of plates on there. Could have used more for walking forward, but it was a little heavy for me walking backward, at least for the 3 laps I was trying to get. I might play with that workout again. It was fun to do, for sure! Edit to FB: found this link for how to make a simple drag sled out of wood: http://www.pulldoggies.com/dragsled.htm Being a welder girl, you could probably make one out of metal, like this: drag sled Tonight I did my UB workout using my MacGyver barbell made out of a broomstick and plates and duct tape, lol. It was cool! I did bench press (flat), barbell rows, T-bar rows (single arm...my first time, and those felt good! ), rear delt rows. I also did 21s for curls (killer! made it through 2 sets, though!), reverse curls, bench dips, shrugs...that's it. It was a good workout...my back and arms are sore already! Gonna put the rubbing alcohol on so I'll be able to move tomorrow. Shauna, carbfest is right! You'll feel better better now that you're back OP. At least, I always do. Brat in the Hat, thanks for the smiley party. You are doing really awesome on your eating plan and keeping up with the daily plate! :carrot: That doesn't make you the boss of me, though. ;) LOL about the intervention! However, I know your secret, girly-girl. You're like the cleanest truck driver on the road, so you're not foolin' me! |
Morning, ladies! :coffee:
The scale said 182 this morning. That's up over a pound from yesterday. Normally, I would glare at the thing, but this morning, all I could think was, "Whoa! AWESOME lifting workout last night!" I haven't had a water weight gain like that from upper body lifting in like, well, maybe ever...sweet! Thanks, FB, for the inspiration on the 3-4 sets to failure. I'm keeping the weight in the higher rep range, like 12-15 reps, since I'm still cautious about overdoing it with the left forearm/wrist, but I sure like the simplicity of it. |
Good morning all :)
I am going back after this quickie post to read all that I missed. Quick update: weight stable, somewhat minor progress on housekeeping hellhole progress but progress all the same. have good one, all! |
down a pound!! woo hoo!!!
|
So....question. My legs are KILLING me!!! Yesterday I was doing filing so was up and down a lot...I guess that's why they hurt. Should I not do leg weights today?
|
Nicki - I think it would be fine to do leg weights today, if your legs are sore it may help them to feel better. As a rule, I don't do my legs twice in a row when abusing them with a workout - give the muscles time to heal. So, rest them up tomorrow after your workout.

BBB! S'okay for your protein to be sky high - as long as it's not a ridiculous amount of sky high. My intake is usually around 300% of The Daily Plate's suggestion. Yay on you!
Of course women are better truck drivers. Women are just about better at everything! :) I like Eggbeaters too. Yummo. I them quite often, often enough to justify buying them from Sams. Which offers quite the deal I must add. JamGyver - Thanks for the info on the weighted sled! Hold up! Rubbing alcohol is good for sore muscles? I did not know that. I ache today, would it help with it after the fact? I read that green tea helps with DOMS, so I do have a cup of that. The BCAA supplements also make a notable difference, one I noticed right away. Your description of dog joyrides sound like a ton hella fun. Oh, it would be so cool to have our dogs pull a sled. Specifically our one eyed chihuahua. Dogs just love having a job, maybe I need to assign our some. Glad I could help with simplicity on the weights! Imma have to come up with home gym ideas today. We're snowed in worse than yesterday. Grrr! |
Yeah I only do weights every other day but i guess the cardio i did yesterday and do the filing at work i worked them a little too hard. lol. i will do them and hopefully they will feel better

Haven't written in a while cause I've been stressed and short on time which is noooo goooood. Tried to do low carb yesterday to speed up my weight loss and it was a dismal failure. I knew better but did it anyways. I got sick around midnight, my tomach hurt sooooo bad! Needless to say I am back to calorie counting today. I need carbs! I've seen a three pound drop on the scale in the past week or so and I am SUPER pumped! I've been making an effort to walk the dog almost every night and do the eliptical before bed. It seems like doing it right before bed has helped push my weight loss! YAY! It was taking FOREVER to see the scale move! I need to read what everyone else wrote, so I will comment more later. Thanks for listening! Sarah

Hi CC Friends!
Flying by to say HELLO. I've been laying in bed with the laptop and just realized it's after 11pm. My alarm will be going off at 5:40am so I need to close my eyes....Catch ya tomorrow! :DBarb |
Good news & bad news. Good news first...
I hopped back on the exercise train today. YAY!:carrot: I went to spinning class, which was awesome.:ebike: TTTT, I wasn't at full throttle during the class, but I was there in mind and body and got a not-too-bad workout. Bad news... carb overload today.:fr: A friend of mine invited a fews friends over for dinner. I knew every single dish was going to be high carb:eating2:, so it was either go and shoot the day to ****:cbg:, or not go. I chose friendship, spanish rice and spring rolls- filled friendship. Oh well, it happens:shrug:. Tomorrow I'll get back on the wagon. I'm still on Atkins induction, so no going out of the 20-25g carb range. NONE whatsoever!:nono: |
Hey CC Chickies! Thanks for the compliments on the tat!!
Just checking in to say things have been going good, not great but good! We did go skiing on Tuesday, the little guy was a bit confused about the boots but he got into after a few mins!! We are planning on taking him again. I forgot how much of a leg workout that skiing is!! Hope everyone has a great Thursday, we just got 13 more inches of snow so I think I will be doing some shoveling today! :) |
Yay Nicki, glad the legs made it okay. :)
Shauna, as you probably know a carb overload will likely mean a temporary water gain, don't worry if it does. Carbs are so hard to watch, tricky little things. Stupid f'ing snowplow plowed my car in. I'm trapped, buried under ice! Seriously, the snow is piled as high as my mirrors. Ergh! I can't park it in the alley to avoid that because I'd never get out. Bright side is that I'm protected by walls of ice and no one will slide into it. :) It's like a fort. |
sweet WTG on getting back on the exercise train...it's okay on the carb overload. you picked hanging out with your friends and that's cool!!!
angel never been skiing here. don't have much of a chance in New Orleans. LOL. of course i would probably fall on my behind more than anything fb you weren't trapped inside your car were you?? lol as for me, down a .5 of a pound today!!! super stoked. |
