OBQ 01-26-2009 11:20 AM

I am new here but this seems like a fun motivation. Don't really know how to do the graphics you'all have posted, but I am committing to losing 8 lbs by Valentines day and exercising at least twice a week. Thanks for the opportunity.

melinda4952 01-26-2009 11:36 AM

Hi All
WELCOME OBQ ! Good luck keep me posted
I have weigh in on Tuesday we shall see if I gained anything back !
down 5 another 13 to go before Aruba in March

jamsk8r 01-26-2009 11:43 AM

FB, great pic! How cute is that barbell? I've tried doing mine, but mine weighs 80 lbs, which is kinda hard to BP when it's all floppy and giggly.

Angel, it's cool that you have friends like that! Nice tattoos, peeps! I hope your boy enjoys the skiing.

Jenny and OBQ, :wel3fc: :celebrate:
Good luck with your V-day goals, ladies, and welcome to the challenge! OBQ, just keep posting. After 30 days and 30 posts (or it might be 20 and 20, I've heard both lately), you can go to your "user cp" and "edit signature". Then you can add a weight loss ticker to your signature. In the meantime, you can track it in your "edit profile" thingy. They had to do that to keep spammers from joining just to upload codes for ad banners, unfortunately.

Nicki, you are doing great with the weight loss! :cb:

DG, cutting out processed foods and white carbs should definitely give you a boost!

Isabella, I do that with my veggies, because I get the big bags, too. I just portion them up in ziploc bags, and it makes meal time easier, esp since I tend to eat the same stuff day after day, while my boy likes/needs more variety.

I hit 180.0 again today. Cruel scale! It's just teasing me. Will I EVER see a 179 on there? lol

Melinda, you posted while I was typing this novel. Aruba, huh? :beach:

melinda4952 01-26-2009 11:51 AM

Oh yeah baby Aruba !
I have not been able to get on the tread mill for a few
my ankle is all bruised hurts like mad!

FB 01-26-2009 01:11 PM

Ha, my little guy wasn't too thrilled about that - but my hubs and I found it amusing. He's skerred of heights. :) Since it snowed yesterday and I couldn't push the car in the name of Jamsta I thought I'd find something else to do.

Jams - 179 is coming soon enough. SOON!

Better be soon for one of us. I'm getting annoyed here. I miss changing my ticker. That used to be a fun highlight of the week. I'm easily amused, lol.

nicki rose98 01-26-2009 04:00 PM

Doing well on my goal and progressing nicely. One pound lost towards my Vday goal

BarbPA 01-26-2009 10:45 PM

Howdy Gals!

FB - Love the pic. Great workout buddy you have there!!! :D The Unit is a CBS show about a secret military unit. The hubby got into it so I bought him the DVDs for Christmas. We've watched the 1st season and just started the 2nd. It's pretty good.

Nicki - Great job on your progress towards the V-day goal!

Melinda - Hope the ankle starts feeling better.

Jam - YES! You are going to 170s...soon!!

Angel - Love the tattoos. I will be getting one when I hit 199...can't wait!

Jam & FB - Pedicures are amazing!!! I get one once a month or so. Love them. When we were on vacation last summer I took my DH to get one...he's hooked now too!

I just realized the time...I've got to get to bed. Tomorrow is another early/long day. Today was a POP day for me including a great session with my favorite trainer!!!

Toodles!! :)

nicki rose98 01-26-2009 11:05 PM

everyone is doing so good!! the tats look great. I'm afraid of needles so no go on that for me. lol

Bev 01-27-2009 10:14 AM

Hi everyone, Well I kind of fell off the calorie counting wagon but I am back on it as of today. I didn't blow my eatting plan just didn't count my calories. I need to get serious if I plan on getting this weight off by this summer. This morning I weighted 175.4

Bev

Hey peeps. I had a great LB/legs torture session last night. Today is UB lifting and some kind of cardio, I don't know what yet. I made a fake barbell out of a broomstick and some plates, and it worked pretty good. Can't hold a lot of weight, but it was fun to do anything that wasn't all DBs all the time! I left it put together so I can maybe use it today.

I have to buy a real oly bar weight set and an EZ bar for the house. A bench would be nice, too. No matter how much I think I'm going to be able to go to the Y, something always seems to get in the way, often enough that it would be worth the investment. I think I'm going to keep an eye out for some kind of stationary bike, too, on the cheap. That would give me another option for cardio on the dark days of winter.

FB, TOM finally showed up today, so I don't think I'll be seeing the 170s right away, but maybe next week. Maybe the scale is stuck for you because your heavy lifting plan is working? Or, more likely, subconsciously you feel guilty for leaving me in the dust, so you're waiting for me to catch up! :lol3:

Barb, I'd be too embarrassed to get a pedicure. Skaters have scary lookin' feets, as a rule. The little pedicure lady would probably faint dead away just lookin' at them.

Nicki, congrats on your weight loss!

Bev, it looks like you're making good progress, too. :carrot:

FB 01-27-2009 03:51 PM

JAMMYS - Hey you! I thought of you and weighted sleds today, it snowed here - so I pulled the boy in his sled, running through deserted parking lots. That's some workout! No, seriously - I had my heart rate monitor on from the gym earlier, it was a real workout.

You're on the very brink of the '70's - they'll arrive in full glory for you SOON!

We live downtown, otherwise I'd have taken the poor kid to a hill. Around here, it would mean his demise. Joyrides on sidewalks instead! :)

In other news, it was shoulders day. The gym was lovely and empty because of the snow. My car handled beautifully, I was worried about it. I got it in the summer and have been dreading the ice as it's a 2 seater. I didn't think about the positive in the ice - that the car is it's own center of gravity, not much in the way of a body to slide everywhere.

I think a home gym would be a good consideration for you. You've proved time and again that a gym membership isn't necessary for fitness/weightlifting. I admire that, nothing gets in your way. You're very resourceful. I should hand over my title of MacGyver to you!

I found a good quality stationary bike last year at a used sporting goods store. Ended up cheaper than Craigslist options. If you lived closer I would gladly give it to you. :)

PS, a late edit - how much weight do you load a weighted sled with? I REALLY liked that workout!

sweetshauna 01-27-2009 10:29 PM

I'm baaaaaaack!!

Hey cc challenge sweethearts,

I've been out-of-commission (reading, but not posting) for about a week- came down with a case of bronchitis and I decided to take it easy with both the food plan and the exercise until it clears up:faint:.

Anyway, I'm back with the program- antibiotics all done, feeling like my old self again. Actually, I have since Sunday, but I entertained on Sunday, which resulted in a caloric/ carb disaster!!:fr: Can you say rice, baked ziti, potato rolls, baklava, AND chocolate cake! Yes, ladies, I had them all ::sigh::

Today when I ate that last piece of baklava and 3 (THREE) potato rolls all to myself during dinner hours, I realized that THIS HAS GOT TO STOP! I'm no longer sick, I have no excuse, and I HAVE TO (have to, have to, have to) GET BACK ON PLAN!

So tomorrow is a new day:yes:- I'll be checking in daily like before (the accountability really helps), and hopefully tomorrow will be the re-beginning of my vals day challenge.

Bye for now and see you soon!
