Hi Everyone,
I have had the most horrible week last week, my cat died and it was unexpected.
The same day I took my neice to her OB appt, she has been like a daughter to me since her mother died when she was young, and she was told she has pre-eclampsia, she is only 26 weeks along and they want her to get to at least 28 weeks before the baby is born because then it has a good chance of survival.
I'm so sorry! I'm sending positive vibes for your niece and whole family.
Good afternoon everyone. Just checking in. I've scanned the thread for the past couple of days. Lots going on. Just time for a few personals that stick in my mind (and when I can think of them I'd better write them down before I have a senior moment). There are such talented people here on this site. I'm so amazed at what some of you do for a living and also what you do to keep things in order at home and still manage to go to school. I must be old but just reading about it tires me out!!! Didn't do much over the weekend. Went to my granddaughter's 5th birthday party yesterday. This weekend we're going to Indianapolis for the US Nationals for drag racing. I'm a huge fan and have been over there every year for the past 18 years or so. I keep telling everyone when I retire I wanna be a racer!!
Bette - my heart goes out to you and your neice. Sending big hugs and prayers your way.
Mindy - I'm gonna check out your sista's book tonight when I get home.
Better hop off here for now. I'll try to get back later today. But if not, see you tomorrow!!
Right now I am working on getting my BS so I can take my CPA exam. From there I take some specialized courses and VOILA...I am in my dream job! I am SUPER excited about it and can't wait to get there!
Cool! I'm working on the same thing. Right now I'm preparing to take the CPA exam in April, after which I plan to apply to the FBI. What exactly is your dream job?

Hmm...my ultimate dream job would be as a Forensic Accountant...analyzing accounts for fraudulent behavior, trying to uncover illegal accounting schemes, etc. In my dreams, I would be sent the material to work through from my home office. I don't think there is a real requirement to actually go into an office every day, this line of work can be done from anywhere. I am not sure who I want to work for, whether it be a private firm, the government, etc. I guess I will have to see what kinds of opportunities present themselves once I get into it more.
Good luck on your exam, I am looking at being down with school around Dec of next year, so I will probably take the exam the following April. Luckily I work in the accounting field already and both of my bosses are CPAs, so I have some seasoned professionals that I can go to for tips, help, etc. Working for the FBI sounds very exciting!!!

You're going to take all 4 parts in April? Holy **** woman!! It's taken me a year to get through it!
Good Morning! I survived the trip to the ils!! Ok, so THAT was a little dramatic! Although dh and I have decided that maybe one overnight night is about our limit....anyway, it was ok.
Saturday was great. I started the day with a nice long walk before it got super hot. Then I did some power shopping. I found some great deals--jeans at Old Navy for $12!!! I tried on a nice dark pair and was wearing a shirt that fit (not an old baggy shirt like I had been wearing), when I looked in the mirror, it was hard to believe it was me looking back! Nice ego boost! I know I have a long way to go, but it was nice to think I looked nice--especially in a fitting room mirror!!!! I found some great bargains at other stores too, so I am set for fall.
Saturday I stopped at the store and bought some nice healthy stuff for a salad. After a few snide comments, I actually felt like I had to defend 'why' I wanted to eat healthy, they got over it. Whatever. Like I said, one overnight might be the limit!
On a positive note, I got HUGE NSV's from one of dh's BIL's. He kept telling me how great I looked, asked me how I was doing it, after he found out that I exercise he asked what I do and how often--so that was really nice.
Have a great OP day!
I agree with you on the one night stay with the in laws..lol.
Don't you just love Old Navy?! I love that store, esp when they have their great sales on the kids stuff..and denim sales.
Congrats on the NSV - that is awesome. feels good to have someone notice the hard work and ask how you did it. makes you feel important and special. i know it's great being noticed for good things you do. WTG!!
I am majoring in Business Admin at the 2 year college here on post, but focusing on Accounting so I can transfer to the 4 year college that's just outside the gate (i.e. in town)...never heard of forensic accounting...that sounds fascinating...might have to look into that.
thanks for all the well wishes. i've been online for about an hour since this has been my first real chance to get online and check on things....we did manage to wake up at 645am and be ready to go by 730am (Abigail was ready by 7am and itching to get to school - today was her first day ever eating bfast at school so she was excited)...and we got home after dealing with allll that traffic. people get insane the first few weeks of school! but got home and i did the 5 advanced miles WATP with all 3 boosters...what a workout! burned almost 500 calories. and so far am OP for calories. Class went well....even though i finished my workout late which lead to a late shower and getting Alex to the sitter late and i barely got into the classroom on time (after spending 5 minutes trying to park-we students share the parking lots with the soldiers who work in the surrounding motor pools [a.k.a. wheeled vehicle and tank workshops]). then took way too many notes and she expanded a few equations which are gonna be a pain to remember for our first exam on sept 8th. then finished there and went to get alex, talked with the sitter for a bit till she had to leave to get her girls from school, so we came home and chilled in the a/c for 20 minutes before we loaded back up in the van and went to the school to try to find parking. then got abigail from her teacher, she was good at school adn got a sticker yippee!!
now we're home. kids' box came from their grandma (a.k.a. my MIL) and half the clothes wont fit or they already had them, so will be exchanging those soon.
need to start dinner so we can eat by 6pm and have their baths at 7pm, in time for bedtime at 8pm. so we can get up at 645am tomorrow and do it all over again (minus me going to class). LOL
well tomorrow wont be as busy...i need to do my homework and still read chapters. and exchange those clothes at walmart (which ought to be interesting since my MIL always rips the prices off the tags and soemtimes damages the bar codes)....fun fun.
didnt have time for my pilates abs this morning, so may do that after they get to bed, since it'll only take 10minutes and wont get me all sweaty and undo the great shower i had this morning LOL
Laurie--It's ok, I get tired reading about what other people are up to too!
Mindy--I will check out your sister's book...how cool that it is published!
MonteCristo--The FBI--that sounds cool!
ArmyWife--I LOVE Old Navy!!! Two years ago, I worked there part time--for the discount, but it turned out it wasn't worth the time I spent driving, etc there...I had SO much fun. The store I worked in was a great place to work. It certainly didn't help my addiction to the store, though!!!! Thanks, yea, it was nice to get the compliments. I have done that WATP workout...WOW, you rock! You certainly had a busy day! Great job quitting smoking!!!
The pre-eclampsia CAN be treated very easily. Dr. Tom Brewer created a diet in which NONE of his patients ever had PIH. All of my moms (I am a doula and childbirth educator) who followed the diet never had high blood pressure: http://snhbw.blogspot.com/2008/08/bl...baby-diet.html
None of the moms did raw milk, and any soy or dairy product will work. She needs a MINIMUM of 100 g protein a day, and if she is pre-eclamptic this early, I would up it 110 for the minimum.
And no exaggeration, she cannot eat ANY processed food. None. But she can treat this, stay out of the hospital and get the baby closer to term.
Where the heck were you when I was pregnant? I ended up delivering at 34.5 weeks because of pre-e.
I continue to lose inexplicably. We have four gigs between now and mid Oct. When I get under 150, I am getting a new pair of jeans.
I even changed my ticker.
I wondered when you were going to change it. I was getting prepared to ask you and everything. Glad the scale is moving for you.

I am returning to teaching after a two year disability leave..I am just a tad..well terrified...everything is very new and in my role as resource teacher I am supposed to help everyone else..translation 46 special needs kids and seven classroom teachers Grades 5-8 (but who helps me!) LOL.
I need to deal first and foremost with my response to stress as it can really aggravate my condition. I have to get my diet and exercise routine integrated with my new work life, and not fall back into my formerly bad habits. My current plan is work in the AM. Art class monday afternoon Tai Chi Mon and Wed night, 3 days of 20 minutes treadmill and weight training (probably Tue/Thur/Sun) at my new gym and my TOPS meeting on Thursday night. I am planning Friday afternoon and evening as my DAY OFF ..well maybe walk my poor neglected dog.
I am NOT planning on coming home the days I am planning on going to the gym. I will take my lunch to school those days, change into my gym clothes and go directly there, because I know the couch will look far more comfy than a treadmill or a weight bench!
I am looking forward to participating in this challenge and I assure my team mates I will do my best for the team. I just hope I can follow how exactly we are to do this as it is my first BL challenge on this site
blueeyedlvrgirl= my daughter is an accounting major with a minor in forenic science. She was given an internship with the FBI . She ended up not taking the position but is very interesting in forenic accounting. She loves the fraud and stuff.
To who ever is taking the CPA at one time good luck..I know my daughter is going to take it in parts and spread them out.She is graduating in dec. and then starting to take the review for the cpa.
You're going to take all 4 parts in April? Holy **** woman!! It's taken me a year to get through it!
No, I'm not taking all four parts at once. My plan is to take two sections in April, then the other two in June or July. I may even take one section in February, but I haven't made up my mind. I definitely plan on being finished by the end of summer '09. I should have done it this summer, but I wasn't very motivated, as you can't even apply to the FBI until you're 23, plus I needed to get in better shape for the physical requirements.
