Lisa - Thanks for the update. Positive thoughts are still being sent your family's way.

Friday's QOTD: Re: Weekends

Used to be & still are a big downfall. No real routine is what trips me up.
I had to MAKE my own routine. I plan out meals & dinners. And I do my exercise pretty much first thing in the morning so it gets done RIGHT AWAY. The weekends are better now than they used to be.

It doesn't have to. I don't use more than a tbsp. The yolks made it creamy enough for me.

Then at 3pm, our HR Director declared a "snack attack" and we all gathered in the conference room for cupsfuls of m&ms. (Personally that's too much like preschool for me, I asked for a nap instead.) Oh, and then she passed out "prized" to the people who guessed the triva question right on our intranet this week....candy bars (it's always a food prize, so I never guess). That was all yesterday! I do have to admit to sharing a small brownie with a co-worker, but it was homemade, and not iced. You ought to hear what they are planning for Cinco De Mayo next week. Nachos with cheese (the canned nacho cheese from Sams). Gag! My first thought was "Do you know what Anna would say about that cheese?" It's beyond a product.
WOW. That is some serious junk food culture right there. The HR Director calls "snack attack" and everyone convenes for M&Ms?? Maybe you should pass him/her some literature about how sugar highs and subsequent crashes are terrible for office productivity

I'm actually kind of impressed in some weird way at your office's commitment to sugar and product

Lisa - thanks for the update. Your brother-in-law and your family will be in my thoughts.

momof4girls - egg salad doesn't have to have a bunch of mayo ever try making it with a dab of plain yogurt, or 1/2 mayo 1/2 plain yogurt? Tastes pretttty good to me!

Nope, but thanks for the idea I am going to have to try that. So like a tbsp of each? How many eggs?

Weekends are the worst for me. Hubby is home, and he snacks and makes me weak! Also we are usually on the go on the weekends, and it's hard to find something to fit into my calorie range when we are out. I have started taking along something for myself if I know we are going to be in the situation to have to grab "fast food" which isn't always McDs or BK for us... it's usually subway, and I do eat that if it's still in my calories for the day.. but like to be prepared for anything.

QOTD: Yes, weekends are typically harder for me. Being out of a routine throws me. Plus, if we go out, it's always on the wknd. I don't have a hard time getting the exercise in, but my calories are always higher. I try to have my 2 low calories days on Friday and Monday to help even it out. And I don't weigh myself on Monday because it's usually higher! By Wednesday it's dropped.

God bless your sweet Southern heart for keeping your mouth shut. By the time I was done, I would need armed security at all times! Can you see me with the big can, standing on a desk reading the ingredients then explaning in detail why they are bad for you?

I don't know how big your company is, but in a company where I knew the HR department pretty well, I would point this kind of thing out. "You want us to work to be healthier so that we can lower premiums and health insurance costs, but then you offer these 'choices' to us? That makes no logical sense. I think we absolute SHOULD celebrate and have fun and enjoy ourselves while we are here, but I think we need to make better choices about how we do this." I think if you offer some concrete suggestions before the next wingding gets under way, they might take you up on them.

God, my arteries hurt just thinking about it.

My people don't eat it, so I use two eggs, one chopped kosher dill spear, 1/8 of an onion (diced), one stalk celery (diced) and 1 tbsp mayo, salt, pepper and a squirt of mustard. That makes 1.5 sandwiches for me.

Obviously, I don't eat them all at once.

Homemade pizza tonight!

And Miss Nori, where have you been? I was going to shout out at 5 if you had not appeared.

Friday's Question of the Day

Weekends are a little harder but not as hard as it used to be. I do try and drink all my water and still make good choices when I go out.

Heard a good quote yesterday and found a way to apply it to us:

Work is love made visible.

When we work our bodies, we are showing that we love them. When we truly love our bodies, we find it hard to put harmful substances in them (like canned nacho cheese). When we love our bodies, we treat as we would our children; we nurture them, give them the best, make the best (healthiest/safest) choices for them.

When we are overweight it hard to love our bodies. We don't feel they deserve a good work out. We don't feel they deserve succulent produce. This perpetuates the cycle. We don't love our bodies, so we don't honor and nurture them. We don't provide the best for them, so they don't look and act the way we want; then we don't love them.

Treat your body like it is already at the weight you want. It deserves good food, hard work and a little naked time....

That sounds so yummy! I'm going to have to try making it that way. Loved the quote too, very fitting.
