Hi Ladies.

I am up a little this week due to TOM. Sorry, hope I did not bring the team down too much.

On the exercise and eating front, I have been doing pretty good. I have been doing some extra activities like walking the dog more, working in the yard, playing soccer with my daughter....It has been fun and I have had much more energy.

Have any of you tried Slim Fast? I was curious about the program and considering it. I am usually pretty rushed in the mornings and the shakes seemed like a good solution.

Have a good day! :)

Hi Jen - I meant to respond before but I forgot. We live in the Houston area. We are visiting Sea World in San Antonio with the kids over Spring Break. It is a fun place I am sure your brother's family will like it there. My husband spent about 6 months there during his AF training. I went up every weekend to visit him.

Hi Girls

Doing a bit better since last weeks pet drama. I'm down 3lb this week and now passed the low end of my challenge goal and also passed the point of losing 30 percent of my body weight which is kinda cool.

I just ordered a new bike for training since I found a huge inventory sale at a bike manufacturer and I only have a heavy old mountain bike. I got a great deal on it, so I'm quite happy. Can't wait till it gets here. It will be my first road bike ever.

Hey team. :)

Decent loss this week--3.5lbs down. I'm happy with it, but to be honest...I thought I would lose more lol. I didn't lose last week, and I worked so hard this week...blah. I shouldn't be whining about 3.5lbs, but I really wanted to be under 200 by Easter and now I just don't think it's looking like it will happen. Oh well. I need to stop setting deadlines, but it's hard.:dizzy:

I'm still trying to get caught up on homework, but once again, I will be SO GLAD when the semester is OVER! This summer I am hitting the gym and I expect to be much lighter come next fall.:D

This just cracked me up! Is it Extra gum? And while you're chewing it do you tell everyone around you that it's only 5 calories per stick? (This of course won't make sense to those of you who don't watch TBL show) ;)

Scenestealer 03-10-2008 01:06 PM

I'm down a bit this week, though it doesn't feel that great b/c it's basically just SLIGHTLY lower than where I started after my gigantic gain. But onwards and DOWNwards, right ladies? This week I am getting back on track and my big change is going to come from making sure I get some good cardio in every day.

Shy Moment 03-10-2008 01:30 PM

laura
Things are going in the right direction and that is what you should keep in mind. Keep the body moving and the mouth closed and the weight will be off in no time lol. I tell myself that, keep the body and hands moving and the mouth shut. You can't put food into a shut mouth lol.

Cassie
Oh be quiet lol. I have never ever lost that much in one week lol. WTG and enjoy.

Ideal
WOW another big looser. Nice going. That would kill my back being bent over to ride that bike. What ever happen to bikes you can sit up straight and ride.

dk
I have heard a lot of people that like slim fast. This is my problem with it. You should NEVER replace food with a drink. The body needs to eat. It loves to eat. Just the action of eating food fills a desire the body has that drinking doesn't fulfill.

TERAPET 03-10-2008 01:51 PM

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for the advice concerning my son's weight. I guess we will just keep on limiting the junk food in the house, try to offer good but healthy meals and invite him to go to the Y with us. That is one good thing about him dropping out of school-no more dorm food.

I was looking at the weekly results today. I don't know about this week specifically but there are some big losers when you look at the entire weeks completed. I am really impressed. I have got to try harder this week not to overeat!!

I am on lunch break and need to get back to work. I will try to do personals this evening.

I also don't like the idea of replacing food with drink. I love food and to eat. The plan that I was looking at consisted of a shake for breakfast, a combo lunch (a shake and about 200 cal from food), 2-3 snacks and a meal at dinner. I thought this was much more managable than two shakes and a meal at night. I also thought of doing the shake thing 4-5 days per week and healthy eating the other days. I am not sure if it would be very effective. It seems like your body would get used to the shakes everyday..... Anyone tried this method?

Tina30 03-10-2008 02:13 PM

Hello ladies~ I'm just popping in for a quick hello! I woke up this morning to a crusted eye that is very swollen. It makes it really hard to be on the computer:) I'm going to the doctor this afternoon to get it checked out. It is really swollen, itchy, red and watery though so I'm thinking I've got pink eye. It wouldn't surprise me with all the sickness going around my house. Hopefully by tomorrow it will feel better and I can get on here for personals. I did well over the weekend though and I'm on day 15 of my abstinence! I also lost 1.5 lbs this week!:) I'm going to still workout today...I'll just have to be careful not to drop a dang weight on my head!LOL! I feel good though besides my eye, so I don't want this to de-rail my exercise schedule. Have a great day ladies~

Catsgetnhealthy 03-10-2008 02:41 PM

Okay I'm going to try this again, it's lost my post 2x's so far. Is it my computer or the website?? Right now I noticed the litte red X's in peoples siggys and for the reply button. :dizzy: Let me see if I can remember what I posted yesterday....
Oh I weighed myself at home and was excited that it read 239.8 and was tempted to count that, but decided against it and would weigh in at WW. Well did that this afternoon and I weighed 239!! So I was a happy camper. Now just to keep going down from here and not back up, again!! Which yesterday I said that Melissa and Shy are inspiring with how well they stay on track. It helps me when I read about everyone's successes(sp?) to tell myself that yes I can do it and will. :)

Tina~ I posted to you about feeling the way you do when I leave my WW meetings. I feel very empowered and have been thinking of maybe going to another towards the end of the week just for that boost. I'm glad OA is working for you. And I'm sorry you have pink eye. I had that before not fun and wasn't thrilled with having to throw away makeup and contact stuff.

Muse~ (((big hugs))) to you. I'm so sorry about your kitty.

Mom23bc~ prayers said for your MIL.

Laura~ I hoped your BL workout day went well. And then I saw that you completed another race, you rock girl!!!

There was someone I gave a :woohoo: to for breaking their plateau, I'm sorry I can't remember the name right this second. :o

CD~ awesome NSV!!!:carrot:
I had a big temptation yesterday at my SIL, she had french bread, roasted some garlic and heated up the brie. Which this is my all time favorite thing to eat. And I had 1 slice(about 2'' in dia and 1/2'' thick)french bread with a big clove of garlic and less than an ounce of brie and ate it very slowly and savored the flavors. :D That was a big NSV for me.

Cassie ~ awesome loss this week!!!

All my team mates~ just know that each and everyone of you inspire me to keep going and do this. I wish I could express it better how much you all mean to me. I am thankful for ya'll. :grouphug:

Catsgetnhealthy 03-10-2008 02:42 PM

YAHOO IT WENT THROUGH!!! :)

Sugar-N-Spice 03-10-2008 02:42 PM

Hellooooo Ladies!

Mom, congrat's on the loss this week! Huge hugs and prayers in action for you and your family.

Cathy, hope weigh in went great for you! Enjoy time with your family!

spidermonkey, I did slim fast about 6 or 7 years ago. Loved it, I lost about 80lbs. The plan has changed tremendously in recent years that is for sure! Back when I followed it, it was a shake for breakfast & lunch and a sensible dinner w/ some snacks in between. I tended to go for the meal bars so I still had the sense of chewing something. LOL The shakes you make in the blender though are yummo and I would have one of those with like say, half a sandwich and a piece of fruit--even before they changed it to that way. What I loved about the plan was that it was completely easy and it actually taught me about portion control. I have to say that the way that I am able to eat now stems from alot of what I'd learned back then. Now obviously, I didn't keep the weight off, but that's not because the program didn't work, it's because I made the choices I did when it came down to eating emotionally and chose to ignore the scale. Even now, occasionally I will have a shake or meal-on-the-go bar if I'm in a rush. Good luck to you, I think you'll do great!

Muse, wow girly, you've got all kinds of good news dont you! First off, congrat's on a great loss this week. Secondly, fantastic stats-- 30% is simply magnificent! Third, love the bike!! How exciting!!!

Cassie, what are you talkin about missy! 3.5 pounds is FABULOUS! Be very proud of all your hard work, you did great!!! Great to see you here today BTW!

Laura, I know you can do it! You're right, onwards & downwards, keep pluggin away it will happen for you!

Terapet, best of luck with your son. I know you will find a solution that works for all of you and hopefully he will get on the road to good health. I agree, aren't there alot of fabulous "losers" on our team!?!

Tina, aw hon, I'm sorry to hear about the eye. You've just had a rough few weeks with the sicky haven't you? lol Hope you get it resolved quickly. WTG on the loss this week lady!!!!!! 15 days is AMAZING!

Karen, Renni, hope you ladies are having a beautiful day!!

Mel, where is you??????

And Melissa73 too, for that matter?????

skinnyvibes 03-10-2008 02:47 PM

Good morning ladies!!! Well had a great weekend. got Zachary's old clothes put on Ebay. Nothing is selling yet, so that's a bit discouraging.... Oh well what can ya do. Went to a new church yesterday, well it was the 2nd time there. We really like it. Then we went for a bike ride. Let me tell you those seats are TOO small! My rear is still sore!!!! lol But I felt great that we did it. Well better get things going around here.... Plan on doing some spring cleaning this weekend and want to get a jump start on some of it. My family is just thrilled that I am making them do this...lol

Danielle & Melissa, you girls are doing awesome! I commented on your MPMU page. Can you believe there are only 2 more days before MPMU is over? Holy Cow!! Where'd the time go?! We are going to keep our site up though as it is such good motivation and is awesome for staying accountable...putting it out there for all to see how good or bad we have done.

DOT came yesterday but when I weighed myself I was still down 2 pounds for the week! We will see how tomorrow morning's weigh in goes. I also am sick again. I went to the gym to finish my W1D3 of C25K, went out for lunch, called my mom (who is sick) and as soon as I walked into my home I was pretty much full force sick again even though I didn't feel anything before walking in the door. Go figure. :dunno: have been sneezing and coughing. Not sure how I am going to run with the cough. I'm going to be loading up on Mucinex that's for sure! Can I blame this on the Daylight Savings Time switch? I sure hope no one else is getting this crud!

Andi, thank you so much! I have truly enjoyed doing the page for sure, it's kept me honest and motivated. We are definitely going to keep going with it! It's something that took me totally out of my comfort zone, putting it out there for God knows who to see. LOL Hey, you girls did an amazing job as well, much to be proud about!!!
Congrat's on your loss!!! :yay: Hope you're feeling better today!!

I am way happy, I managed to lose the .5 I gained last week, along with 2 more! So long, sayonara! :carrot: It's starting off to be a fabulous week!

Shy Moment 03-10-2008 03:46 PM

dk
Now that might be an idea. Combine the drink with food. Get the vitamins and such in, lower the food a bit. I know they taste great. There was a time I had to live on baby food and slim fasts lol.

WOW look at everyone losing weight. Nice, real nice. Those that haven't lost any this week. Don't let it get you down. There are so many reasons, hey might be you are gaining muscle at the same time you are losing fat. It is DOT time so I hope I am down. The pants are a bit snug around the waist from a bit of bloating. We shall see what we shall see. Wednesday when I go to the doc for my weigh in.

Scenestealer 03-10-2008 03:49 PM

Rennie, love that motto - it's a great one :)

Tina, I used to get pinkeye all the time and I hated it! I switched over to daily contacts (that is, I throw them away every day and go for a fresh pair) and that cleared things up. Made me feel guilty though because I swear I was cleaning my two week ones!

Cathy, congrats on the NSV! I am very bad with once food is in front of me, I eat it. That is TRUE willpower to turn it down when it's right there in front of you!

Danielle, it is indeed shaping up to be a fabulous week! Good luck everyone - sounds like we're doing pretty well.

Hun.e.B 03-10-2008 04:07 PM

Okay!! I can come up for air!! I'm so glad too because I feel completely disconnected from you guys and I know that has ALOT to do with why I had such a horrible week last week. Even though I did post a loss there is no reason for it. And before anyone says maybe I didnt do as bad as I think lemme just tell ya...bacon cheeseburger, french fries w/ ranch dressing, alcohol, cheesecake, movie candy, carrot cake, chili cheese dog, macaroni and cheese, gosh thats all I can remember right now but I know there is more!

So this is my jumping off point! I'll be back to doing personals from here on out! I need to sit down and figure out how many days till my last final because my goal is going to be to stay OP that many days. I can do that! I'll let you know the official number. I'll have to take inspiration from Melissa73 and her almost 100 days OP!

So I hope everyone is having a fantastic monday! Dont forget weights are due tonight!! We need a red team win!!

Shy Moment 03-10-2008 06:11 PM

Hun
I am sorry you had a bad week. This week is going to be great :)

Laura
It is easy to let things get you down, to see the dark. Sometimes, what we need is to find that pin point of light. You know, a pin point of light turns into a great sunrise.

Hun.e.B 03-10-2008 06:31 PM

Thanks Rennie!! This is going to be a GREAT week!

I've got my ticker made...57 days till my last final! 57 days to make some major changes by staying OP the whole time!

Looks like we've got some amazing losses this week! That run for the BL crown is up for grabs! Who is gonna get it!?

jlbake 03-10-2008 07:12 PM

Hi Team!

I started my day with exercise once again. The scale is not my friend this week, but I'm just going to keep on trying!

Danielle--We live in San Diego and we love it! It's a wonderful place to live. In which part San Diego did you live growing up?

Andi18 03-10-2008 07:45 PM

Hey teammates! Thought I'd stop by and say hi! I'm going to make it quick though as I still feel like cr@p and look like Rudolph with my bright red nose. I am down 3 pounds for the week, and that is with TOM so I am super excited about that. I don't have much of an appetite today as I can't smell a darn thing but have been thirsty beyond believe and have drank enough water and juice to last me all week long! Surprised I'm not floating away yet, that'll probably come tonight! I hope everyone has a great weigh in today...looking through the posts I don't see how we could not be team of the week this week ;) We are rockin' da house!

Shy Moment 03-10-2008 09:09 PM

Andi
That is terrific keep it up. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

TERAPET 03-10-2008 09:32 PM

My Goodness-you all sound FIRED UP! I tried to eat better today but I ended dinner with M&Ms! Yikes. My daughter measured them for me but they still have too many calories. So tomorrow will be better. I did run for 30 minutes on the treadmill after work today. I love exercising everyday. Yesterday I was at the Y for two hours for both Pilates and Zumba. I am finally feeling stronger. I am going to try to use higher weights at body sculpting tomorrow. Right now I only use 5 lb weights and a 12 pound body bar. Last summer I used mostly 8 lb weights and a 15 pound bar. I have never been real strong even when I was younger but I hope to get back to where I was last summer. I also used to run on the treadmill at 5.6 now I am all the way down to 4.4. Waah. I know why. I lost momentum after band camp (we were co-directors last year also, it is a two year stint) and just didn't exercise enough. Just need to keep on keepin on!

Cats-Good job at the SIL. Sounds delicious and you did it the right way.

Tina-Sorry about the eye. Hope you get better soon.

Hun E B- I am glad you are able to find time to come here. You are one busy mom. It will be worth it when you are all done with school. I have an accounting degree. I work for a small business doing the books using Quickbooks.

Laura-Hang in there. Just look at all the great things you are doing running and the many wise food choices you make each day.

Andi18-Sorry you are not well. Hope you feel better soon. Congratulations on the weight loss.

Jasmine-Sorry your job is making you miserable. I hope things improve for you and in the meanwhile it never hurts to just look around for something else, right?

Sugar N Spice-Congrats on losing 2.5 pounds. Awesome.

Counting-Great job not eating the desserts at church. You picked the good stuff. I found out the other day I could have alcohol on Sunday and still fulfill my Lenten obligation. So I had some yesterday and guess what-it wasn't near as good as I remebered it. Funny huh? Congratulations on your continuing weight loss. I hope I catch up with you someday.

Cassie- Way to Go losing 3.5 pounds this week. WooHoo. You may make that Easter goal after all. If not, you alot closer now!

Yeap! I am getting paid under the table to mention this. Just kidding! But I probably had a subliminal message from that show to chew gum. :dizzy:

Mom23BC 03-10-2008 10:22 PM

SceneStealer: Thanks for the support. I agree! At least I’m not going up and I know I can tell my body is changing. And I didn’t say this in my last post, but I was thinking that you could beat any of the contestants on BL as far as stamina goes.

SpiderMonkey: I’ve never did the program, but I like the shakes okay. Just look at the sugar content though. It has been awhile since I had these.

ShyMoment: I love the books. Spent the whole summer reading all the books. Very good. They are much better than the movie, but I’ve never sat through the movie yet. I’ll need to rent them, when I have more time to watch. My kids rarely let me watch a movie. So, how did you like it?

Cathy: That has happened to me before. That’s why I write in Word, and then copy and paste. Plus this helps me to do all the personals.

Idealmuse: Great job on the weight loss. I need to get my bike out. Thanks for the idea.

Cassie501: Great job on your pounds loss. That is great. And you never know, you may still hit your goal. But if you don’t, you are still heading in the right direction.

Terapet: That’s a great idea about getting your son to go to the Y with you. Great job on all that exercise.

Tina30: Congrats on the weight loss. That does sound like Pink Eye. Hope that you start feeling better.

SugarNSpice: Thanks for your support and prayers. Have a great day!

SkinnyVibes: I love bike riding too. But I do wish the seats weren’t so small. My butt always hurt for days afterwards.

HuneB: Hello! Glad you are surviving all that work. Congrats on the loss.

JL Bake: San Diego is a great place. I bet it is a great place for field trips.

Andi18: Congrats on the loss, and I hope you start feeling better.

Scenestealer 03-10-2008 10:24 PM

Melissa, your post made me hungry! :)

Mom23BC 03-10-2008 10:26 PM

Hello everyone. I did pretty good today. After my kids finished school work, we went to the beach. I took my jogger stoller to the beach. Let me tell you: That was one heck of a work out --- pushing a jogger stroller on the beach. I am already feeling the soreness in my legs. I am even sure my upper body will feel it by tomorrow. I would like to do that at least once a week. We had a great time, and my kids got in the water again. Still too cold for me. I can't even keep my 14 month old out of the water.

Have a great night everyone!

CountingDown 03-10-2008 10:40 PM

Quick Flyby to say hello and keep up the magnificent work team! So many wonderful losses this week. We leave for Chicago tomorrow and I don't know if/when I will have Internet access. Thanks to all that helped with my wardrobe crisis. I will finish packing in a few minutes and I think I have the perfect clothes for the trip. I will try to get some pictures of the dinner cruise if I can - speaking of which - I need to go pack my camera.
Have a great week! You guys ROCK!

The results came back and the surgeon said that the cancer has entered the blood stream. She goes to see her oncologist on Tuesday. Right now, I am a little (a lot) worried. I spent hours and hours last night searching the net. Of course this just scared me. I shouldn't have done this, until we had more answers from the oncologist. She is more like a mom to me than a MIL. My mom passed away about 9 years ago, so this is just tearing me up. So my request is: Could you please say a prayer for her. I do believe in Miracles. I also believe there is a PLAN. Hopefully the plan is for her to be around for a very long time, so please pray for her. Thanks and God Bless!

Your MIL will be in my thoughts and prayers. When I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2005 I was devestated. I joined a thyca support group and it was the worst thing I could do. All the talk about all the bad things that COULD happen is NOT what I needed to hear. Stay away from the internet and just be positive. I am a firm believer of positive thinking, it helped me get through one of the toughest times of my life. I came through cancer free and i'm hoping the best for your MIL. Positive thoughts and be there for her! XOXO

Hey ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. My weekend was very busy and very fun. I managed to stay OP while going out with some couple friends and DBF. YAY me!! It was such a good time and quality time with DBF, I think we all laughed for like 3 hours straight. I needed that!

I lost another 1.6lbs this week. Because my WW meeting was cancelled LAST week due to snow, I received my 10% key chain Saturday as well as my 25lb magnet. My mom got her 25lb magnet too and we have them both up on the fridge! How exciting!!!

I did my 60 min cardio kickboxing tonight and i'm doing really well now. I measured myself again this weekend and I lost another 5 inches for a total of 20" lost. I am on a roll ladies, and i'm not stopping anytime soon! :-)

DBF is moved into his apartment now and it's only been a few days. WE had a great weekend together and it's weird how him being an hour away and not seeing him every day makes me realize just how wonderful he truly is. I think our times together while he is long distance, are going to be much more meaningful and we will enjoy eachother more. Then in a year or two, we will move in together. Right now we have two totally different agenda's and that's okay, because when we reach our goals, we will come together again and be totally stronger in our lives, our success and our relationship!

I am so behind in posts that I can't even imagine doing personals right now. I'll be better at posting daily this week. I hope you are all doing great and congrats on any losses that were posted this week. Keep up the great work red team!

cakses 03-10-2008 11:38 PM

Lost the pound I gained last week. A little more focused this week and hoping to lose from here on out!

Tina, :getwell: I hope your eye get's better fast. I used to get pink all the time in my early 20's. it was such a pain and it hurt. :mag:

Laura, I have been converted to The Daily plate to count my calories & Fitness. I'm hooked! It offers so much more than fitday. I love it!

Sounds like the red team is still rocking it! Congratz on all the losses!

melissa73 03-11-2008 09:18 AM

Melissa: OMIGOD girl. If I ate all those things today, I would totally puke. LOL. I ate one of DS's onion rings when we went out to Uno's and I felt sick. And that was only one! You must have felt like crap! Amazing that you still pulled off a loss after all that. Well I hope that you did feel awful eating that (no offense, only for your benefit) and that you'll get right back on the wagon. XOXO

Andi: That is a great loss. Sorry you feel like crap, but glad that you had a great loss this week! Feel better soon...(((healthy vibes)))

Counting: Enjoy your trip. Can't wait to see pictures!

It is really swollen, itchy, red and watery though so I'm thinking I've got pink eye. It wouldn't surprise me with all the sickness going around my house. I'm going to still workout today...I'll just have to be careful not to drop a dang weight on my head!LOL! I feel good though besides my eye, so I don't want this to de-rail my exercise schedule. Have a great day ladies~

Tina: I used to get pink eye often when I was younger. No fun. I hope it goes away soon. Be careful at the gym, pink eye is contagious.

This just cracked me up! Is it Extra gum? And while you're chewing it do you tell everyone around you that it's only 5 calories per stick? (This of course won't make sense to those of you who don't watch TBL show) ;)

HA HA HA as a matter of fact I AM chewing extra gum right now. Only 5 calories a stick. LMAO!!!

Danielle: thanks for shouting out for me. I am here, I've just had a really busy week! I think I posted enough today to make up for it. LOL

Hi Ladies!

After a weight gain 2 weeks in a row, I was expecting yet another one (due to my food choices) but was pleasantly surprised to have lost 2 pounds! :carrot: That 2 pound loss is enough to re-motivate me to get back on track. My work has been a little crazy and I haven't had a chance to log on much.

This morning my job is offering free health screenings. They check height/weight, BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose. Because of the cholesterol check, I cannot eat breakfast until after my screening. Why is it that I'm not overly hungry in the mornings except on the one day that I am not allowed to eat? I am anxious to see my cholesterol levels so that in about 6 months I can see my progress. I'm a little nervous about the results. I should know my results in a few hours so I'll let you know how bad it is! I decided to weigh again this morning to see what I weigh in these clothes to compare to my normal weigh-in scale. Amazingly enough, I was already down a pound from yesterday. I'm not going to count that as official yet since it can change, but it made me happy today.

Anytime there is a time change, it drives me crazy! I got up this morning and did my workout but my eyes were closed most of the time. I am wiped out! I love the daylight at the end of my day but I am so tired! <rant over> ;)

I'm hoping to have a break at work today so I hope to be back to do personals in a little while.

I think I've posted this before, but those "commercials" always remind me of the Truman show where she has a new grater or something. Truman is figuring out something isn't right and looks at her like she's crazy. I think he even says something to her about "what are you talking about?" Everytime I see them do that on TBL, I crack up. ;)
