Hi team! Sorry I haven't checked in for a couple days.

We've been doing field trips the last couple of days and we've been gone all day. We spent Monday at Legoland and Tuesday at Medieval Times since we're studying the Middle Ages. We had a great time both days. The weather has been gorgeous here. So we'll be going out for a field trip tomorrow too.

Last night, I had a Girls Night Out with three of my girlfriends. We had so much fun. We went to a dessert place and I indulged in one dessert, but I tried to eat light earlier in the day so that it wouldn't completely ruin my calories.

I think my calories were okay for the last two days because I didn't go hog wild, but I wasn't able to measure and log like I normally do. I just tried to eyeball it and not go overboard.

Recommit Survey

1. What is your eating plan of attack? To count calories staying around 1400.

2. What is your preferred method of exercise?
Walking

3. What is something you excelled at over the past 6 weeks? I've been a good friend the past few months. I know that has nothing to do with BL, but it's the only thing I can think of.

4. What is something you are still struggling with?
Exercise. I was doing great before I got sick for most of January. Since getting better, life has just been so hectic. I need to make exercise a priority.

5. What is your goal for the next 6 weeks?
To get past 182 and lose another 10 lbs. To make exercise a priority.

6. Say something positive about yourself!
I am succeeding and I will continue forward! I'm healthier and stronger everyday.

skinnyvibes 02-27-2008 05:58 PM

Melissa~Fuddruckers, YUM! We don't have one here. DH and I drove to Missoula last May and had it for the first time. We even joked about driving over there a couple of weeks ago to get some...lol Good thing there was too much snow for our little car...lol Good luck tonight!

CountingDown 02-27-2008 08:17 PM

Hello all! Hope you are having a GREAT hump day! I'm crazy busy with work right now, but I'm thinking of you all and reading everyone's posts.

I love the recommit survey - GREAT idea. It is so inspiring reading everyone's responses. I hope EVERYONE does take the time to answer :)

Hun.e.B 02-27-2008 09:24 PM

Okay so dinner at Fuddruckers. Ugh! I was kicking myself all the way home. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, asked them not to toast the bun and a side salad w/ FF italian dressing, and a lite beer...sounds like I did fantastic right? Well then I nibbled off dh's onion rings and dd's fries! So stupid! I came home and put the food into WW the best I could, I was overly generous with the portions and I came in spot on for points! I even have 2 activity points left I could use if I wanted! So I'm downing a liter of water right now and I think I'll be golden!
Yay me!

Shy Moment 02-27-2008 10:32 PM

hun
Sounds like you not only had a nice time but did great on the food too.

jl
I love mid evil stuff. We go to this thing every summer where they do a kind of reenactment thing all weekend.

TERAPET 02-27-2008 10:53 PM

Yellofly-Poor thing, I hope you get well soon.

skinnyvibes-Sounds like you are on the road to losing 10 lbs. I try to plan my meals in advance also. It keeps me from ugly suprises when I am adding up calories.

Melissa73-You are doing so well. Keep up the great work. I laughed at your band camp reference but trust me our kids are good at camp. (Although we did catch one boy trying to sneak in the girls dorm!) We have lots of chaperones.

Ksk571-Sorry to hear lifes been throwing some obstacles in your way lately. I hope you enjoyed a great Zumba class tonight. One of my instructors calls it therapy!

Hun E B-You survived Fuddruckers, yeah! Good for you for staying within your points.

jlbake-Good luck getting the exercise back in your schedule.

Tina30 02-28-2008 09:12 AM

Good morning ladies! Well I made it through day 3 of my abstinence:) Everyday it's becoming a little easier to stick to. I had a great time at my meeting last night. I got a lot more reading material, and just felt good when I left...like I'm ready to finish this week off strong. The women are really funny also. It's even funnier because their not meaning to be, it's just how they are:) I love that! So I had a great strength training workout at home yesterday. Legs, glutes, and core. Let me tell ya the legs and glutes are still burning today! I'm going to the gym tonight for cardio. This afternoon while the kids are in school I'll be shopping for Madison's b-day gifts. I did take Laura's advice and bought Mattie the Betty Crocker kids cookbook. It is so cute and the recipies are actually something we could do together, and she will eat the stuff. I didn't want it to be so complicated that it wasn't fun, but these are great. She is going to love it, and it's going to be great for her and I. I did well at my MIL's yesterday for lunch. I had a bowl of her homemade chicken dumpling soup, a chicken salad sandwich, and the big bonus I didn't even eat chips, even though they were on the table!!! That's huge for me...I'm a total chip freak. Now my MIL is the world's best baker, and of course she baked an apple rum dum cake. I had a small piece though, and enjoyed it, but that was it, no seconds for me. So that was a big NSV for me. Other then that though not much happening today. Tomorrow the kids are off school, so I want to get all my running around done today. Hope your all having a great day.

Yello- Get well soon hun~

Melissa73- Slowing down my eating is something I need to work on big time. Like you I eat very fast. My family was always yelling "slow down your going to get sick" It's so hard to eat slow when you've eaten fast though your whole life. I'm trying though and I've gotten better at slowing it down. Your doing great...Keep it up~

Kari- Great job on getting in the exercise...it don't matter what time we do it just do it! Sometimes things happen and our scheduled time doesn't work, so great job fitting it in:)

Melissa- Ahhh Fuddruckers....my husband and I used to go there when we were first dating. I love that place. It's hard for me to go there though because I eat like a fool. I love their fries, not only that I love them smothered in the cheese sauce. So ya see the problem with me going there!LOL! Great job on the control though. You did great. About you thanking me for being in your corner, girl I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. You are such a great person, and I can tell this all by just chatting with you over the computer. You are just a kind person. I'm so glad though that your taking time for yourself. Your number 1 remember that:) Have a great day~

Counting- I hope things settle down a little for you at work. Thanks for checking in though, I love hearing from you~

Jen- Legoland sounds like soooo much fun. Kev and I went to one in Flordia on our honeymoon, but I want to take the kids. I know they would flip out. I've never been to Medieval Times, but we go to the Renassiance Faire every summer and love it. I'm sure it's pretty similar. How fun a night out with the girls. I've been trying to get one together, but one of us has not been feeling well everytime! I'm ready for it to warm up so I can start sitting with my girls on the patio and just relax and chat.

Rennie- I love what your teaching your kids about not being able to take the stuff with you. Especially today, I mean kids have or want just about everything. I'm reading A New Earth, and it talkes about always wanting more, but does the stuff really make you who you are??? Great book, you should check it out:)

Karen- I hope you had a great class. Sometimes a good class is what we need to get rid of the stress~

Tina30 02-28-2008 09:17 AM

Mom23BC- Your little girl sounds like a doll....how cute! I tried explaining to Madison just because a new model of kitchen comes out that she doesn't get it. Kids our funny. I took Laura's advice though and bought her the Betty Crocker Kids Cookbook...she'll love it:)

Laura- Thanks for the advice on the cookbook...I picked it up yesterday for her. I can't wait to give it to her and try our first recipe together! Great idea~

Cat- Great job on the exercise...you had a great workout:)

Scenestealer 02-28-2008 09:25 AM

Sorry to be MIA for a bit. Yesterday I worked 15 hours PLUS a team dinner, and in general work has been really hectic. I posted a big long entry on my blog about TBL on Tuesday night, but didn't get a chance to come here and post.

I did 109 squats! My legs were absolutely SHAKING by the end. I also attempted to do the "Brittany challenge" and do 15 MPH. My treadmill only went to 12 MPH max, which was a really good thing because the first time I tried I almost flew off! The second time I lasted 30 seconds. Did anyone catch how long Jillian was making Brittany go? I also tried to do as many hamstring curls in a commercial break as possible (much easier than squats) - I did 114.

Mom23BC, I'm still sick, but it's the kind of thing where I'm stuffy and have a sore throat, but feel pretty much okay. Hopefully that won't affect my ski trip this weekend. Thanks for asking!

I have been doing a pretty good job this week staying on plan, with only one day over. It's SO hard to eat healthy when I'm eating out for every meal! Last night I was proud of myself at dinner though. Even though I ended up 400 cals over the day, I did not have an appetizer or touch the bread, had a salad as my main course, split a dessert with someone, AND didn't touch any drinks! That last one was the hardest... everyone was raving about the specialty drinks and kept telling me to "just try a sip" and at one point even ordered one for me, but I refused to touch it. GO ME! 300 cals for a fruity martini was just not worth it to me.

Melissa, AWESOME job at Fuddruckers! I've never been to one but it doesn't sound like an easy place to make healthy choices :)

Tina, that's awesome about the cookbook - let us know how she likes it! And hopefully a book and some food is cheaper than a whole new play kitchen, and easier to store :)

That's too funny that you say that because my instructor went into a big speil at the end of our class last night about how she started Zumba several years ago when an uncle was sick and that she used Zumba as "me time" and sorta like therapy.

ksk571 02-28-2008 10:09 AM

Tina - I'm glad you're doing so well with your OA program. It really helps when you have something like that to give you hope. The Beck Solution did the same thing for me. I'm glad that you have some great ladies in your group, too! I hope your daughter loves her cookbook. I had one when I was a girl and loved it, too!

Laura - Just reading about your life makes me tired! ;) But I guess I worked crazy hours like that when I was young. I can't do it any more. I believe Jillian had Brittney running at that speed for 10 seconds. She stopped at 8 seconds so she made her do it for 15 seconds the next time.

Jen - Your field trips sound like they were a lot of fun! It's nice to change up the work routine a bit. I'm glad you had a fun girls night out. Those are great!

Melissa (Hun) - I'm glad your night out ended up being within your plan limits. Thanks for the recommit survey. The responses have some good information!

Mom23BC 02-28-2008 10:15 AM

Andi18: Good for you for wanting to start running. Have you looked at the C25K program?

Tina30: Congrats on making it through day 3. I am glad your son is feeling better. I may have to go out and find that cookbook for my boys. Maybe after I move this spring, I will have more time. I think they would love it. Thanks for the idea. Let me know how you like it.

HuneB: Thanks for the reminder about the challenge. I know I only posted once, so I will try to be better.

Yeap. Very fitting! I stayed on plan yesterday and lost all my water weight from the past week. Today and Tomorrow I am going to do extra exercise to make it closer to my monthly goal.

Melissa73: You are awesome! 60 days on plan, WOW!

Terapet: Hello! Good for you for writing everything down. I may need to start doing that.

Cats: Wow! Awesome day of workout!

SkinnyVibes: Good for you for getting your workout in!

KSK: I hope you are in a better mood today. Have fun at Zumba class. I have never heard of that.

JLBake: It sounds like you had a lot of fun doing the field trips. One of my favorite things to do with the kids for homeschooling. The Zoo is one of our favorites.

Countingdown: Have a great day at work.

SceneStealer: I am sorry you are still not up to par. I have a feeling that if they put you in the hospital, you would ask them where the workout room was. You really are an inspiration. Have fun skiing (snow, right). I would love to do that one day.

As for me. I have a monthly goal to loose 5 pounds a month. I need a miracle to make it this month, but I am going to give it my all this next 2 days. I’ll let you know how it goes. Here is a big hug to all you guys.

ksk571 02-28-2008 10:56 AM

Melissa 73 – I struggle with getting my veggies in also. I’m a bit veggie challenged but am working on it! Way to go on doing the last chance workouts. 103 squats is great!

Kari – Way to go on being able to get rid of some “fat” clothes! It’s so nice that you were able to give them to someone who will really use them. I usually garage sale mine and then give the rest to the good will, but I tend to get attached to a few items (silly, I know) and it’s great to know someone you care about will be using them! On your recommit survey you said one thing you struggle with is not being lazy. This cracked me up mostly because I can so relate! Here’s to not being lazy!! ;)

Laura – I’m decided to go back further in the chat to do some personals so I’m going to hit you again! I really admire you for staying as on track as you have with the lifestyle that you have. You really do great and are an example of what I would like to be when I get to my maintaining stage. I know you are frustrated with not making it to goal yet. I think your maintaining is a great accomplishment! It has always seemed that losing weight is harder the closer you get to goal. I have heard many stories of people who decide to focus on maintaining instead of losing and somehow their bodies decide it’s time to let go of the extra weight. I really hope that happens for you!

Muse – 10 months is an amazing accomplishment. You should be so proud!

Emily – I’m curious, what is t-tapp? Way to go on accomplishing 7 weeks of C25K. I’m impressed!

Counting – It’s tough to be happy with losing weight slowly, isn’t it? In my mind, I know it’s better to take it off slowly for many different reasons, but I like instant gratification!

Rennie – Being a turtle instead of a rabbit is a great mentality to have!

Yello –You sound like you feel miserable. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Mom23 – I’m working on snapping out of my funk, you’ll have to join me! :D Very cute story about your daughter. Thanks for sharing it.

Andi – I’m glad you’re liking your classes with Marty and Amy! And it’s great that you’ve been able to find something new to enjoy as a result!

Cathy – You’re doing great on the exercise. It almost March so hopefully the snow will be leaving soon! Don’t worry about not losing weight if you’re losing inches. The weight will come.

ksk571 02-28-2008 10:58 AM

skinnyvibes 02-28-2008 12:14 PM

Good morning ladies! I was perfectly on plan yesterday! DH wanted pizza for dinner last night, but I already had dinner in the crockpot. And we were good for dessert even though he wanted to pig out on junk! So I am very proud of myself for that one! :) Got laundry going and going to get on my tredmill here in a few minutes. Think I might take little man outside to play this afternoon, the snow is finally gone in the back yard. YAY!! I have to also go post my results for our vacation fund. :) Sorry I have been slacking at that one. Ok, time to get busy!!

Scenestealer 02-28-2008 12:39 PM

Mom23BC, HA! I totally would ask where the gym is if I were in the hospital. And if I were bedridden with a broken leg, I'd either ask for dumbbells or MacGyver a workout out of whatever heavy objects I could find in my hospital room (tricep dips on a walker?) :) Now, let's just hope this plan does not get put into action after my skip trip!

Karen, thank you so much for the support. And woo hoo - I totally beat Brittany by doing two thirty second sets :)

Emily, I don't know what t-tapp is either... let us know if it's something fun to try!

You ladies make me smile so much and put me in a great mood for the day... THANK YOU! :)

melissa73 02-28-2008 12:46 PM

Good afternoon ladies,

Well I am hurtin' today. I did the cardio kickboxing class last night for the first time. It was, try it for free before you join. Well I HAVE to join because it was the best workout i've had in a very long time. OUCH!! I thought i might die...LOL. So today my muscles are aching and i'm up a little on the scale because my poor muscles are sore and healing. It's funny, when we were doing all these squats in class I was cursing Melissa's last chance workout of squats because my legs were already sore from the 103 squats I did the night before! YEOW!!! So needless to say all the kicking and knees and squats were really burning. I can't wait until Monday. I don't think i'm going to do such an intense strength workout on Friday nights before my weigh in, not until I get used to it. So I'll be sure to do the class on Monday and Wednesdays.

After school yesterday, I also went to the bike shop by my house and put a nice green Raleigh Mt. Bike on layway. I'll be able to finish paying for it and pick it up in April. Now i REALLY can't wait for Spring.

So I am focusing more on sitting while i'm eating and eating slowly and mindfully. I'm doing really well with it. Today my focus is making time, which I already do, so today i'm going to find the time to make a schedule on paper and put my workouts in so that I can stick to it. :D

No time for personals because my lunch is almost over! I'll be back to post tonight after DS's soccer game!

Cassie501107 02-28-2008 01:36 PM

Hi Team!

Well, so far this week has been good, eating-wise. I am on plan, and the scale is moving back down from where it was on Monday (there is a reason I used my freebie LOL)..hopefully I'll have a loss to post on Monday.

In other news, the sick people in my house are on the road to recovery, and I'm good besides my pre-TOM migraine. Ugh!

Hope all are well!

bella mia 02-28-2008 02:01 PM

Hi everybody,

Thanks for the great support on the 3 lbs loss…unfortunately TOM will be here any day now and I have a feeling I won’t be so successful this week.

Do you guys ever feel tiered of having to worry so much about weight? I mean I have so many things to be grateful for and I love my family to death, but sometimes I wonder how I would be different as a person if I didn’t always have to struggle with this weight issue, I mean it has been a constant battle all my life and I think its not only aged me but tier’s me too…I just want to be happy with me….okay enough said…can’t ball at work right now and I shouldn’t even be doing this.

Well have a great day all!

1. What is your eating plan of attack? LA Weight Loss (on my own)

2. What is your preferred method of exercise? I like to mix it up…elliptical, stat. bike, treadmill, walking outside (if it ever gets warmer) and exercise dvd (just received my first WATP…can’t wait to try it out)

3. What is something you excelled at over the past 6 weeks? I have gotten much better at dedicating myself to exercise. I am up to 4 days a week.

4. What is something you are still struggling with? I am finding it hard to find time to do things that mean a lot to me such as posting on this great support chat line and getting enough sleep.

5. What is your goal for the next 6 weeks? To be more involved on this chat thread, to push myself harder and stay dedicated to my exercise program and to challenge myself each time a little more, whether it is by doing a longer work out or intensify my workout. Also, to be true to myself and enjoy what is infront of me, as I have so much to be grateful for and sometimes I feel like this weight issue take everything from me and allows me not to be the person I want to be.

6. Say something positive about yourself! I love to help and give to others. I will and will always be the friend, mother, spouse, daughter that you can trust and count on.

Good Afternoon everyone!! I've went and gotten myself behind on posting again. But I've been procrastinating homework so bad lately and I've GOT TO STOP! I've got to focus on getting this paper written before I can do fun stuff like personals. Although I have read through and you guys are just awesome!! We have such a great team! Keep up that awesome REAL red team support!

I'm in the same boat-I have an 8 page paper that I need to get pumped out!:o

cecil 02-28-2008 03:59 PM

Hi team I don't really have time to read everyone's posts so I am going to give you update of how I am doing. I have pretty much stayed OP perfectly for the last week. I am back down to my weight from right after Valentines day so things are looking up! I went Cross country skiing this weekend! Boy was that interesting and good exercise! I have a temptation weekend coming up.... I need some tips. We will be in the car for about 4 hours tomorrow then as soon as we get there we are going to a concert. So I won't really have much time to eat.... I guess I will have to pack some stuff. Then Sat I am sure we will go out to eat and I am sure there will be plenty of drinking involved. That's what always gets me I can do really good on the food portion but when it comes to drinks I always go over. That is sooo frustrating. I may have to use my Freebie week this week. Does anyone know how I do that? Do I just let Chellez know? Well Ladies wish me luck! And hope fully I will be able to check in again tomorrow before I leave! I am sooooo excited!

I am sure glad to hear my mentality is ok lol. I have never done anything quickly. Heck I didn't even have my first child until I was 24.

Just wanted to check in and say HEY to everyone. Trying to get things finished up around here. Leaving in the morning to take care of a friend that just had a hysterectomy she gets out of the hospital Friday morning. Not sure if I will have time to get back to the computer or not. If you don't hear from me, I will be home Sunday sometime and I will post then.

Idealmuse 02-28-2008 08:28 PM

Hi gals -

Well I found a solution to my where to work out for training problem. The place I was going didn't have a pool and was kinda icky. I just went there because I had a free 2 month pass from the Discovery Channel Body Challenge.

After pricing places that were as much as $45-80.00 a month I finally found out that the place I'm taking my swim classes offers community memberships for what runs around $20-$25 a month depending on what session it is (its a university) SCORE. I ran right down there and they pro-rated me for the Spring Term so it was $45 for the next 2 months.

So Stupidly happy about this. It's close to home. Takes about a 25 minute walk to get there which will be nothing by bike when it gets warm.

Also... I tried on some of my stashed away 14's I bought on clearance. I can get them all closed! A wee-bit too tight still on most of them but I'm wearing one pair right now. 14. 14! Holy crap!!! I started in 26/28s. (I didn't actually own any 28's but my 26's were tight at the time)

Just a bit excited today! :)

skinnyvibes 02-28-2008 08:45 PM

Muse~ WAY TO GO!! That is so awesome about the gym and the pants! How exciting! I am so happy for you!

Idealmuse 02-28-2008 09:23 PM

Skinny V. Look at our trackers lost/left they are almost exactly the same!

CountingDown 02-28-2008 09:37 PM

Muse - WOW - great day for you! And 14s!!!! You have come so far! You are an inspiration :)

Cecil - stay strong! I pack string cheese and raw veggies for car trips - baby carrots, string beans, snap peas - anything crunchy. And - for some reason, I can entertain myself seeing how many "strings" I can make with string cheese. It can take 15 to 20 minutes to eat that way ;)

Shy - hope everything goes well with your friend! We will miss you!

Cassie and Hun - good luck on your paper! Oh, do I remember those days!

bella - funny thing this time around. Since I finally got it through my head that this is a forever lifestyle change and not a "diet", I don't worry about it any more. While I sometimes grumble that this is going slowly, it really doesn't get me down. If I don't lose weight during the week, I know that it will go down next week. I've adjusted my "goals" several times - my new philosophy is - so what if it takes an extra month, or two, or six, or 10 to get to my goal weight. Life is good. I am getting stronger and fitter and smaller every day. I'm really trying to enjoy the journey instead of focusing on the destination.

Melissa - congrats on the new bike. Mine is in parts and pieces in the basement and garage. The kids canibalized it for parts 2 summers ago. Now they don't live at home any more and it is doubtful that they will have time to assemble it when they come to visit. :( Good think I like walking and hiking so much :D

Laura - If I had HALF the energy and commitment to my workouts that you do...

Kari - the crockpot is such a great appliance. It keeps me from doing the quick (and often high calorie) thing for meals when I am hungry and tired after work. Congrats on staying strong!

Tina - congrats on your success with OA. It is a wonderful program. I'm so proud of you for taking that first step to go to class. And also for your positive attitude. You are looking gonna finally break through and be able to control your eating and we are blessed to be able to be here to help you :)

Mom - I'm not making my goal this month (barring a miracle loss) but I find that weight goals are very, very difficult goals. Even though I have been POP all month, I can't control how my body responds. If you don't make it tomorrow - don't let it get you down. Look at what you HAVE accomplished this month - celebrate your success! You have done well.

Karen - I wish we had a zumba class here. It sounds like so much fun. I think I may have to break down and order the DVDs.

Jen - congrats on your dessert victory! I've a total weakness for cheesecake. I have to split dessert with dh or I go hog wild!

Yello - hope you are feeling better soon! I started with Leslie's "I Can Do Yoga" It was a short workout, but it helped me with my confidence in trying other routines. I like Gaiam's Yoga Conditioning for Weightloss too. I use all of the props and even some modifications of my own. If you are taking a class, make sure that the style of yoga that is offered is one that shows you the modifications you should do to the poses.

Hello to everyone I missed - Stay strong this weekend! We are gonna win that challenge this week.
RECOMMIT! FOCUS! VIZUALIZE SUCCESS! We can do it!

Good Morning Ladies! :sunny:

I have been sick the last 3 days or so, just not feeling human lately. I have been so exhausted that I've literally come straight home from work and picking up the kids from school and gone to bed. Yesterday was better however so I'm relieved. I've had a sore throat that has been threatening me off & on and today it is here with a vengeance already. I am not feeling tired though so I think I can fight thru it and get going where I left off with exercise and "to do" lists.

I only have but a few moments, I'm headed out to work but I just wanted to come by and say hi and see what you've all been up to. I will have to do personals this afternoon.

Keep up the great work everyone! You are all doing SO great and all this positive progress has put me in the 'go to' mind frame! Thank you!

Make today great ladies! :flow1:

"bella - funny thing this time around. I'm really trying to enjoy the journey instead of focusing on the destination."
Thanks counting down for all your kind words you are truly an inspiration. My problem is I don't know how to not think of my weight...it dominates my whole life...its always there. I just would like to be able to sit down for example, for breakfast an have a bagel or muffin if I go to Tim Horton's with my family and not have guilt consume me all day. How do you get past that? I can't seem to get past this hump. Yeah, I am ON Plan 100 % ...but it killed me this morning waking up knowing how good I have been and yet I'm up again, how can that be. I realize that TOM is due today and tomorrow but this yoyoing between 177-183 is driving me crazy. The way I look at it, is I think if I didn't care too much about what I ate than you know it is what it is but I really work at this each moment of my life and its such a constant battle and for this....this plateau has got to give, but how? Sorry I guess TOM's arrival is making me even more miserable!
Well, I have to head off to work now, I really do apologize for venting, I a m just so frustrated because darn I am so committed why can't my body just work with me!

Shy Moment 02-29-2008 08:14 AM

I just had to stop in this morning before I leave and see what everyone is up to lol. Ok I am nosie you can say it lol.

bella
I think for those of us that count calories instead of being on some kind of plan like weight watchers for example it is easier to think of this as a life style instead of a diet. There isn't anything we aren't allowed. We just fit everything into what we allow ourself for the day. I know I don't even think much about it anymore. There are times I kind of grumble because the weight is coming off so slowly but generally I really don't think much about it. I pretty much eat the same things within a week because they are the things I like. From time to time I add something new and get rid of something I am tired of. It takes time to get to this point. Something I don't do is eat out but then I never ate out. OH YUCK, the thought of someone else touching my food. The one or two times a year I do eat out. I plan that right into what I allow myself. Keeps the guilt away I guess. As far as your DOT goes, I can be 3 to 5 pounds up during that time. NEVER do a weigh in within three days of starting and within 3 days of being on it. Who needs to see those numbers, that is just depressing. You will get to the point that you think of eating and weight less and less and it just becomes something natural that you do. Don't get down, it takes time. Counting and I are a great deal alike when it comes to the journey we are on. I didn't gain the weight in a day or a week or a month. I am not going to take it off that fast either. Will I hit goal by my birthday, who knows. If I don't, oh well, that is how it goes. I will sure be more healthy and a lot thinner than I was when I started this journey.

Danielle
I am so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. My gosh it really is going around and doesn't seem to stop. You take care of yourself and give that body plenty of rest.

Ideal
WOW you are doing terrific. Look at the sizes you have gone down. Love to see someone that really sees the difference. It isn't all about the scale. This journey has so many challenges but it also has so many rewards so many victories. Enjoy each and every one of them.

Hun.e.B 02-29-2008 09:34 AM

Just so you know!! We only need about $1500 to make our trip! Once we get to the island I'll tally up and see who our biggest earner was!

Hun.e.B 02-29-2008 09:47 AM

Good Morning Red team!!! I hope all is well with everyone! Gonna try and squeeze out some personals before I need to run the girls to school then its back to my paper.

Rennie....thats not nosey! this place wouldnt be the same if you werent here checking up on everyone!!

Sara....there is no need to apologize for venting. Thats what your support system is for! Losing weight is more a mental game than a physical game and its understandable to have those constant daily struggles. I go through it too, as if its a race. Slowly I'm working through it, WW and journaling has helped. I think to be successful you've got to be mindful but it cant consume your life, eventually you'll find that balance. It just wont happen overnight. Maybe we can be like Valerie Bertinelli who woke up new years eve and for the first time ever didnt think about her weight LOL!

Danielle....ugh! I was so hoping you would be feeling like a champ today! Do ya think it could maybe be allergies? Tis the season, I would imagine with those 80 degree temps everything is a blooming down there too. I hope you have a great day and feel better!!

Counting...thank you for the amazing support for your team!! We ARE gonna take that title back this week!! its funny I've said all along that I love to be a student that I'd do it forever if I could get paid, and yet this semester I just want it to be done!! I dont wanna do it anymore! LOL!

Kari.... G'mornin!

Muse....O>>>M>>>G!!!! 14s!! Are you serious!!? That is such fantastic news!! you are such an inspiration! Every day there is exciting news from you, you really are blooming this challenge. Keep up the great work!!! I work out at the university, they usually have great facilities, I know ours is fantastic! Great job on your find!!

Cecil...if you are gonna use a freebie for the week, you can just type "freebie" into your weigh in. Or PM me, either way if there isnt a weight there it'll get marked as a freebie. Way to go for turning things back around this week! You can do this! Remember those goals! Have fun this weekend, my tip would be to pack healthy snacks to have in the car. Dont go for the soda, get water. YOu'll have to bring the healthy snacks because they are pretty tough to find in the convenience stores. Fruit, dried fruit, pretzels, if you bring a cooler yogurt and string cheese, nuts. Try to put them in single serving baggies that way you arent mindlessly eating out of the bag.

Cassie...EW 8 pages!! LOL and I'm complaining that mine has to be 5-6 LOL! I hope it goes smoothly!!

Melissa73...how ya feeling today? Better I hope! Yay a new bike!! I got myself a new bike last year and I love it!! I cant wait to be able to start riding to school again!

Okay, time to get the rugrats rolling! Have a wonderful day everyone! My plan is to hit the water HARD today. I think my soup I made for dinner last night was high sodium, for whatever reason I'm up this morning on the scale and tomorrow is my official weigh in. I might just take my free pass at WW. Hopefully things will go back to where they were! LOL!

melissa73 02-29-2008 09:55 AM

Melissa: Feeling a little better today. Still a little sore inthe lower back and behind my legs. But I'm much better! LOL I'll be pumped and ready to do the class on Monday! I wonder if I should just go tonight and suck it up. If I don't lose, I don't lose, but the workouts i'm getting are great!! I'll have a better loss next week if tomorrow isn't that great. besides I have TOM, i'm constipated. Anything else trying to stand in my way of NOT getting my 10% and my 25lb awards tomorrow? FRUSTRATING!!! oh well, if not tomorrow, then next week...right?

Tina30 02-29-2008 09:58 AM

Good morning ladies! Well I'm onto day 5!YIPEEE! Just when it was starting to get a bit easier though I have a weekend full of going out to eat and cake. Tonight we're going out with my inlaws for dinner for Madison's b-day, and then coming back here for cupcakes and icecream. The cake and icecream is something I can totally control...just not my thing, but the eating out is really hard for me. I have come to terms though that my calories will be over what they we're during the week, so my goal is to just eat my portion and no seconds. So if I can do that I will feel really good. Also I'm going to research the web for lower calorie options. I have to come to understand though that holidays and birthdays come up and I have to learn to enjoy them, but control myself at the same time. So that is what my goal is going to be for those times, my one plate and enjoy it, but that's it. Today is busy for me. I have to clean, decorate for Easter, go to a conference for Joey, and then get ready for dinner and company tonight, oh yeah and workout;) Today is a home workout day though, so that good. I feel like I'm in a really good place right now though. In control again, and really taking care of myself.

Danielle- I hope you get to feeling better....this getting sick is getting old!LOL! It seems like someone is always coming down with something in my house. Take care hun~

Melissa73- I did this kick box video at home, and I swear I could hardly move the next day. Like you said though great workout, and it will make our legs and butt look great!LOL!

Melissa- Did you get started on that paper yet?

Sara- I can totally relate to thinking about weight constantly. It's something that takes over your life, and it's really frustrating. I have gotten a lot better with it, but it still is on my mind 90% of the time. I don't know how you get over it. It just seems like it's so draining to think about all the time. I mean I have 3 kids, a great husband, a wonderful family, and it's like weight shouldn't be the main thing on my mind. I feel like sometimes it robs me of so much. I do find though when I just concentrate on exercise the eating falls into place most of the time. I also know that if I'm eating right and exercising and the scale doens't show a loss it doesn't bug me as much. I know I'm doing all I can and my body feels good. Hang in there though hun...you've had so much going on lately. I think it's time for you to have a girls day out or something:)

Muse- Great job on the jeans...that is even better to me then a number on the scale! Keep it up!

Cecil- Have a great trip:)

Rennie- I hope your friend has a speedy recovery...she is lucky to have such a great friend like you:)

Have a great weekend ladies~

Ksk: Okay! I am with you. I am feeling so much better. I really think the over indulging last week got me in the funk. It made me feel out of control, but I am back on track.

Skinny: Good job staying on plan. How old is your little man? Snow sounds like fun. My kids would love snow.

Now, let's just hope this plan does not get put into action after my skip trip!

He, He. I knew it. You are truly my inspiration. And you made me laugh.

Melissa73: Kickboxing sounds fun. I really want a punching bag. Where to put it, is the question.

Cassie501: I hope your Migraine goes away. Congrats on the loosing! Oh, and good luck on your paper.

Yes! It can get me in a funk. That is why this has to be a lifestyle change for this time. I just can’t imagine spending the next 4-5 decades worrying about my weight. I feel that I think about this more than anything. I think my kids is what motivated me. I don’t want them to see the struggle. I want a good role model for them.

HunEb: Good luck on the paper.

Cecil: Your trip sounds fun. Pack some healthy foods. I don’t know what is on your plan, but I would plan for your meals. Also, be careful with the alcohol if you can. That only makes you eat more. If the drinking is more than one day, can you limit it to one day, and maybe the other days drink non-alcohol or just one drink? Or for all the days, plan how many you have, plan it in your calorie total. Even if you can plan for one meal, do that. Remember this is a lifestyle change. Even if you make one good choice, its better than that bad choice. I hope this made sense. Just throwing out ideas. When I went to Disney this past year, I ate what I wanted, but I tried to limit the amount. Instead of ordering my own food, I nibbled on my kids food a lot.

ShyMoment: Have a great weekend.

Idealmuse: Congrats on the size difference. It is so funny about weight. I weigh 191, and wear size 18. I can’t wait to get in 14’s. I carry my weight on my bottom half.

CountingDown: Thanks for the support. I agee. Goals can be tough. But I think they motivate me a little. If I don’t make it, it is okay. I am on the right track.

SugarNSpice: I hope you start feeling better and get your strength back.

Good for you. A lifestyle change, right? Eating out at restaurants are the hardest for me.

Mom23BC 02-29-2008 10:20 AM

Yeah for me. I lost my water gain. So maybe, I will have an actual loss this week or at least not a gain. I went to the state park yesterday and walked for three hours with the kids. We had a blast. Then I came back and did 30 more minutes of ab and butt exercise. I am trying to give it one last push for my end of the month goal. It is okay if I don't make it, but I am paying the price for my week of indulgence. Of course I am having fun paying the price. I had a great time with the kids yesterday. The stroller worked out great. I pushed the boys when they needed a rest. The double jogger stroller holds 150 pounds. I even was able to carry my girl while I was pushing the boys. I had my back carrier, but she refused to be in it. That was a first. Next time, I will bring my sling, so she can be on my hip, and I can have my hands free. (See the big hip is good for something. God made them for women, so we can carry the kids on. I LITTLE "shelf" is good.)

Well, I hope everyone is having a great day.

skinnyvibes 02-29-2008 12:05 PM

Good morning ladies! Started my workout this morning, but I was cut short. Intend on finishing it here in a little bit.
Mom~ my little man is 21 months. My other two are 12 & 15.
Muse~ you are so right! Our tickers are almost identical! Yay we have come so far!! I have one pair of 14's, but the only reason I can get into them is because they are denim that has elastic in the material. But I was estatic when I tried on those! :)
Well I had better get busy with my morning stuff so that I can get my workout in and my errands done before the kiddos get here.

Hun.e.B 02-29-2008 12:11 PM

LOL Tina...I've been working on it for an hour and I've got 2 paragraphs written! Woo! Go me!

Debalicious 02-29-2008 12:45 PM

Happy Friday Ladies! Sorry I've been MIA this week - I see I have a lot of catching up to do over the weekend. Work has been extra insane again 12 - 14 hour days and no me time whatsoever. So I thought I'd pop in today while I'm having my lunch to say hello.

Even though I've been super busy with work, my eating has been on track. No movement in the scale though - I've stayed steady all week. Must be the stress.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday! Woohoo the weekend is almost here :carrot:

Yellofly 02-29-2008 01:19 PM

Happy leap day, Red team!

Thanks for the supportive words, Melissa (hun.e.b), Terapet, Tina 30, Karen, and Mom23BC (Your little girl sounds like such a cutie. :) ).

Countingdown, thanks for the tip about the yoga videos. I'll check them out for sure. Sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for!

Has anyone tried to borrow workout videos from the library? Do they have any? I just don't want to end up with a stack of videos I don't like, and wasting 10 or 20 dollars on each one.

-Yello.
