Rhonda - You do the 3 Day you will be my hero. On a different board I used to frequent we had two girls do it. I have a LONG way to go before I think about one of those.
onthetee - You stay right here young lady. Every tenth of a pound you might lose helps.
Purple - Could you maybe do some upper body workout so you don't feel so bad? Grab the weights/cans/whatever you have and do rows, presses, laterals, etc. Or just relax for the night and watch BL.
practice - I didn't even realize Google had documents like that. I just use my office spreadsheet. Currently I have daily weight, 10 day average, BMI, calories, 7 day average, each exercise I do, all my workout videos listed, treadmill times and distance, and recently added how fast my 5k is. I do a monthly total of all exercise and have also decided to start using the mapmywalk site someone else posted. I am starting out with a walk to my mom's house, approx 90 miles. After I 'leave' her house I think I am going to start heading to the Grand Canyon. I've always wanted to see it, lol.
Spark, I don't recall there being a place to split snacks into am/pm. I use the snacks portion for the not so healthy things I eat. My 8 peanut M&M's or my 100 calorie snack packs. Things I really could live without but I think I need at the time. If I have an apple for a snack I put that in the nearest meal.
We did it! We did it!In the words of Dora The Explorer who is singing in the background here at my house.
Yippee, after being up a little last week, I'm already down 1 from my posted weight week before last - so down almost 3 pounds from Friday. If it were not for this challenge, I honestly wouldn't consider a TOM gain a "gain" at all - it always falls off quickly. I have gotten a little obsessed with weighing myself again though.
QOTD - Anna! You should stay. You're not hurting us at all, is how I see it. We are what we are. We all do what we can do. That's simple. We all know weight loss isn't a linear thing any ways.
Rhonda - can you try a temp gym membership? Try a class? Maybe you'll like it.
Selina - I think that's kinda lame of your doc to not comment on your weight loss.
Marianne - Exercise is such a key for my success also. Obviously nutrition is the most important factor, but I honestly feel that exercise is like the glue that holds my plan together.
Well, I'm behind here at home. Gotta return some calls. Spent 2 hours at the gym and I miss like 10 calls...
Yeah Blue Team! Good job with the weigh ins this week.
What to do with Anna? We'll keep her. Seriously, this challenge is about so much more than the losses that we post each week. Although you feel bad about small losses, to be honest, I don't think anyone else really cares. We all want to win each week, sure, but small loses are not bad at all. Keep posting 'em, girl!
Heather - go get the massage, especially since you know that is what you want. You DO deserve it and you need it, therefore, there really is no coin toss between the facial and massage. The massage wins outright. Glad that's been cleared up, enjoy your massage!
Rhonda - The 3 day would be SO cool. And I hope you can find a team for the relay.
Thank you so much for all the kind words about my progress pictures. You all are so sweet.
According to the doc, it will probably be four weeks before I start seeing real losses again. If you look at my stats, everything is little bits. I hate that I am not going to post big numbers for you, and it seems unfair for me to stay on with the knowledge that until my infection is gone, I just cannot contribute in a way you all deserve.
If you would like for me to drop out of the weigh-in portion, I am totally fine with that. I will continue to post, and chat about with you all, but I certainly don't want to be dead weight.
Edited: this is not some martyr thing. I don't want you all to feel obligagted in anyway to ask me to stay. I am not going anywhere as it relates to posting and support, so my feelings won't be hurt if you make a logical decision.
Oh No you don't! You may not be losing big, and you may continue to not lose big for a while, but you are one of us and you are working hard at it and this is right where you belong. No jumping ship
OK, I will stay, but you may regret your decision.
I am back from the doc and we went over all the results.
1) Low pituitary function. Same effect as low thyroid.
2) Osteoporosis!! Can you believe it? My calcium, magnesium and silicon were all out of whack. He said two pregnancies in three years, plus nursing for a total of more than five is a big factor, since I do love my cheese and get enough calcium. Supplements out the wazoo. Here is what kills me. No one would have tested for this until I was menopausal. How much bone loss would I have suffered over the next 10-15 years?
3) Low potassium--effects overall health and make people more prone to stress (Moi?) Stress is not good for weight loss.
Two traditional doctors have tested nothing, assumed I was a glutton and told me to eat less and move more. Grrrr.
Zinke--I do my strength training in the mornings with Jillian, so I don't do anything else so I don't overwork the muscles. Today is just a complete day off, and my legs are feeling a bit better already so tomorrow I should be able to do whatever I want without wincing again Sometimes ya just need a day off, ya know?
I"m making supper and don't have too many calories left...deciding if I want to go for a big salad or use them up on these roasted potatoes I'm making for the kids...they smell SO good! I'm not all that hungry, so I might just have some They aren't real high in calories, but I'll have to measure the portion carefully to make sure I don't go over calories.
Purple - Yum. Roasted potatoes sound delicious. I just got done eating a turkey burger. I was very bad and put bacon and Miracle Whip on it. I came in to track Spark expecting that I was way over and I wasn't. Right on the money.
Selina - I think I would have said something to your doctor. I was really dreading having to see mine soon because he always slips in something about how I should lose weight. It's always nicely said but still stings as I KNOW I am fat. Duh! He was trying to convert me to vegan but I think he finally gave up on that idea. I think he will be pleased though since he hasn't seen me since Feb 07 and I am down 30 pounds since then. Now I remember I need to make an appt for my annual pap and thyroid check. And my semi annual dental cleaning. I better get that done in the morning.
Wow Tee, thanks for posting that, as I have the exact same pg and nursing history as you. But I imagine 95% of all mothers have the 2 pg's in 3 years thing, don't you? So many people have kids 2 years apart or even less. The next time they offer me a dexa scan at a physical, I guess I will say yes! So are you on phosamax, boniva or one of those??
I also have had 2 pg's back to back - 2 years from start of one to finish of the next. My Mother recently convinced me to start on OsteoDenx. There's enough info to back it up, so I figured it couldn't hurt. I used to drink TONS of pop too and I know that is so dangerous for your bone health.
We are having Tilapia Tacos tonight. VERY healthy and low cal, especially when you use the extra thin corn tortillas.
Hi to all whats up with the blue team? I went over to help

Actually, mine was found through hair sample analysis. When calcium leaves the bones, it places deposits on the hair. They also checked for heavy metals like lead and mercury. Thank god, none of those. That also means the kids probably have not had exposure.
There is probably no way that I would choose a pharmaceutical option. He said that since my baby weaned last week I would probably recoup quickly. Once we get the ratios of cal and mag back in order, I should be OK as long as I continue to monitor those ratios. I will probably be taking cal-mag-Vit D for the rest of my life.
Other little tidbits are low potassium and manganese. These impact mood, and getting those sorted out will probably help my general crabbiness.
With all things considered at this point, I am taking 12 pills of supplements and three different homeopathic drops twice a day. We will check the progress in 6 weeks!
Recipe is here: Tilapia Tacos. I get sooo many of my recipes from allrecipes.com - I just make adjustments as needed. In this recipe I use less olive oil in the marinade. I use corn tortillas and I didn't have any lime tonight - so no lime zest - just the juice from a bottle. Plus, I never use the adobo sauce in the sour cream dressing. We like it so much without it. I also cook the fish in the oven instead of on the grill. It is so delish! The cabbage and cilantro are so refreshing and crunchy with the soft fish. The flavors are amazing considering that tilapia doesn't have much flavor on it's own.
Don't rely on the calorie info you get on allrecipes though. For example, if there is a marinade, you obviously get some of the fat/calories from it, but not the whole amount. They will include it all in the calorie/nutrition breakdowns.
