Atkins Induction Day 45

WOW!! Another 2 pounds lost today :D:carrot::D

That makes 30 pounds in 45 days on Atkins. :D:D:D:D:D:D

When I was calorie counting my weight refused to budge even when I started eating 900 calories. I went for months without a loss. I decided to see if Atkins would wake up my Metabolism and it sure did.

I have MFP set at 1400 Calories, 5% Carbs, 65% Fat and 30% Protein.
This formula sure is working well for me.:D

I wanted to report a friend of mine's success with Atkins. She does not use a computer, and she gave me ok to report the following which I hope will inspire some..

She is on the 20-25 carb program , and on it 30 days has lost 19 pounds and she is delighted... She was on MRC with me, and on maintenance for two years, and then she could not maintain no matter what she tried, so she is real happy here. She gets weighed in at her gym once a week as her accountability. She has upped her carbs to 30 to see how she does.

This program does work, and you can eat real food without all the supplements, protein drinks, etc. that other weight loss places make one buy.

Skelley...

You are doing so well.. I know you said you were on MRC previously...

I have purchased items from Diet Wise that I still have and this morning I tried the BariWise drink BW202. I will see how weight is when I use it..
Calories are 60, fat is 0, carb less than 1 gram, sugars less than 1 gram and protein 15 grams.

skelley331 06-07-2015 03:14 PM

Larry Congrats on weight loss. Fantastic.

I had a bad day yesterday, first one since on diet, as I was losing slowly, but losing.. It was one of those days when I went off diet big time and it was all due to a stressful day and I felt real bad, but it is done, so today is another day, so will hope in a couple of days, the weight I know put on came off. I did not weigh myself today, as I did not want to know what I gained, just starting a new day.

Larry H 06-09-2015 07:19 PM

Today was my Endoscopy. No evidence of cancer :D but the Doctor took several biopsy samples to be sure.

Findings were:

1. Moderate Hiatel Hernia (not new)

2. Barrett's Esophogus (not new)

3. Moderate Gastritis (new finding, they want me to talk to Cardiologist about stopping baby aspririn)

4. Schatziki's Ring ( re-occurance. they dialated my esophogus)

Pending a negative biopsy I will go though this again in 3 years.

My first ZERO CARB day!! :D:carrot::D

Due to the scope this morning, breakfast started at noon.

Breakfast

On Day 3 and so far, so good. My ketostix should arrive today and I should know if I am in ketosis. I am hoping so. Had very bad leg cramps when sleeping last night, so upping my water intake.

Glad you are doing well....

beatboy77 06-10-2015 01:47 PM

Just got the ketostix and am at a reading of 5 on them. That is the first step up on the scale. Heading in the right direction :)

Josh

skelley331 06-10-2015 03:01 PM

Keep up the good work Josh!:carrot:

beatboy77 06-11-2015 09:17 AM

Did another ketone test this morning and I am now in the 40 range on the ketostix, so I would take this to mean I am in a deeper level of ketosis.

Today is day 4 on Atkins and I am beginning to adjust better to life without breads and sugars. At first is was extremely difficult. In a strange way I almost felt sad/depressed as my body craved sugar/carbs. I think I am past that now.

Still dealing with some night-time cramps in my legs when I sleep. I have also noticed, my energy level is increasing quickly.

CONGRATULATIONS!
For the leg cramps drink more water and are you taking a multivitamin?, and you don't want to get too deep into ketosis, not good for you.

What would be considered a healthy level of ketosis? Regarding vitamins, does anyone know of any chewable type which are carb-free?

Josh

Josh I usually test around 40 which is considered a moderate ketone level. From what I have read, anything 80 or above can be very dangerous.
I have never came anywhere close to that while following the Atkins 20 Induction Plan. Sounds like you are doing great!!

I Love this Atkins 20 Induction Plan. :D:carrot::D

My scale was down another 2 pounds today!!

:woohoo::goodscale:cp:

This makes 34 pounds lost in 51 days on Atkins.

In case anyone is wondering, I only count even pounds. I do not count tenths of a pound. This just makes it easier for me to track.

Way to go Larry! I love that you post what you eat daily- really helps me. You reminded me that pickles are great to spice up a meal! :)

Way to go Skelley!!
I'm weighing in at MRC every Friday and losing 1.5 or 1 lb a week. I'm goofing off on the weekend- not fully focused and then gung ho Mon- Friday. On the weekend- I am sticking mostly with protein and veggies- if I snack, it's Pork rinds, pickles...if we are boating- we usually get a sub or fried chicken- I pack hot pork rinds, pickles, olives, peppers...I throw the bread away or give to the dogs on the sub and w the chicken- give the breading to the dogs or fish! Lol. Clothes are fitting better.
What are you eating daily? So proud of you and your success!!

Atkins Induction Day 51

Skelly Congrats on the loss!!:carrot:

I had a good day out in the sun building an enclosed trailer for my motorcycle. A little too much sun as the back of my neck is peeling.

Breakfast
Home Made - Extra Large Hard Boiled Egg, 2 egg
Kraft - Mayo, 2 Tbsp

Lunch
Usda - Pork, Loin, Whole, Roasted, 5.5 oz

Dinner
Jennie O - Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage (Lean), 4 link

Total: 1,367 Calories, 0g Carbs, 92G Fat, 124g Protein

Goal: 2,908 Calories, 48g Carbs, 194g Fat, 243g Protein

The reason my goal is so high today is that I recorded 4 hours of general carpentry in MFP and it automatically adjusts the goal. I do not eat back my increases from exercise.

Thks for sharing! I've been eating celery with palmetto cheese with jalapeņos - so good!! And it's only 1 carb. It's pimento cheese w soul :) made in Pawley's Island and tastes homemade.

Thanks bigdog:
I usually have a mocha latte w/real coffee and 3 slices of crispy bacon on my way to work
At home in the mornings while getting ready I have my donut house decaf kuerig cup w/HWC
Mid morning I have 4 celery sticks with whipped cream cheese
Lunch: small side salad w/ranch dressing and grilled chicken or I just get a low carb burger with bacon/cheese/mayo no bun wrapped in lettuce
dinner is whatever meat I fix with a vegetable
Then around 8:30 I fix my decaf coffee again w/HWC and have my atkins peanut butter cluster bar

Congratulations on your losses! I don't cheat anymore on weekends, I'm geared to getting 5 lbs under my goal then I will have that cushion to explore

beatboy77 06-12-2015 11:48 AM

Day 5 and still doing good. Ketones at 30-40. Each day I am finding the diet easier to do as my body continues to adjust. Fit in to some pants this morning that did not fit a couple of months a go, so I must be slimming down (not weighing myself any longer in life).

Does anyone have a good egg scramble induction recipe? I like to make a big batch of it and eat it for my breakfast throughout the week. Also was hoping for an induction-friendly sir-fry recipe.

Josh

For the ones that use Myfitness.pal

I have had some problems changing goals.. For instance I wanted to lower my calories, as I can not meet them, and I can put the numbers in, but when I go to save, it is gray.

This is second time I have contacted customer service and while I am waiting for an answer, they are telling me that Myfitness.pal is available in the Premium, which is not free, however, the free is still available.

Just thought I would let you know.

Yep they are trying to get people to pay. Not me no need to pay. How low are you wanting to go? I don't think they will let you go under 1200.
But I will let you change your macros, I went 5% carbs, 30% protein and 65% fat

RPM I am able to change mine in the free edition. I changed the calories and saved. The screen showed them as unchanged however when I exited the program and re started MFP the new readings for calories that I had entered were displayed.

Substitute Jalapeno peppers for the green peppers and this is what I do also. I like green peppers but I like the kick of the Jalapeno pepper better,

Another 2 pound loss today and I just lost 2 pounds yesterday. YAY!! :D:D:D

I want to go to 1200. I am at 1300 now, but can never get there. I usually come in around 1100 .

I agree, no need to pay..

If you set your goal to lose 2 lbs and sedentary it will go to 1200 calories

beatboy77 06-13-2015 10:18 AM

Day 6 and all is good. Had an extreme craving for a sweet/dessert last night and fought hard to fight it. Finally gave it some thought and ended up having a slice of approximately 2.5 oz of cream cheese with a packet of Splenda poured on top. Tasted surprisingly like cheesecake and this completely took care of the craving.

Josh

rpm3060 06-14-2015 07:50 AM

I met some friends at Ruby Tuesday's.. It is easy to eat out as long as one has the mental status to say no.. I did not drink alcohol, did not have dessert, so that is a plus.

I ordered salmon grilled well with nothing on it and a side salad , minus the croutons and onions.. I had my own dressing. I know salmon may have been marinaded, but I added extra to myfitness to compensate for that.

Worse part was I have had a craving for dessert lately, and everyone at table had one of those decadent desserts, but I let it go , so feel better today for it.

Tomorrow I weigh in, so will be back then .

Myfitnessplan has corrected itself to 1200 calories after I contacted company, so that is done, and thank you anyone who helped me with this.

beatboy77 06-14-2015 11:17 AM

Day 7 and I have decided I will weigh myself today. Had a strange thing happen last night. Had my first panic attack in several years. Did some research online and it appears people with a history of anxiety commonly re-awaken panic attacks when going low-carb due to the decreased serotonin in the brain. This can be helped by upping your B6 and magnesium intake. I am going to look for a vitamin which is high in both of these.
