Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, just done one week of successful induction, want to lose around 2 stone. I need a place to post my daily menus and thoughts, as well as read your diaries. Looking for self accountability and support. Do I start a new diary thread? Or just post in this column? / |

I've learned a lot from everyone on this forum and really looking at carbs on labels on everything I eat and drink. I don't have that bloated stuffed feeling anymore :) Family is in town and have been to dinner twice so far- fri got the fish tacos and left the shells- enjoyed the grilled fish, salsa and cabbage. Sat. had a chef salad. Pimento cheese, celery and dill pickles on the boat today - love all the choices! |

AWE thank you trip switch x, It means a lot as the last board where I posted daily was completely dead. Nobody ever bothered looking at others diaries. I have just done one week of strict induction and WI'd this morning and lost 5lbs - which I'm happyy with as I'm 11st and wish to get to 9.7-9 and serial yo yo-er, so I know the woe loses its effectiveness each subsquent time.
Where do I post my daily menus and ramblings? Here? or create a new diary thread? |
Well done x

Today is the beginning of week 2 for me. I'm deep in K as I have come on TOM 2 weeks early and know from past that its a sign of the body releasing fat cells. Area's of concern are 1)I'm not eating enough due to loss of hunger, currently eating saucer sized meals, 2) since I have cut out dairy I may not be getting enough fats. So, main concern is that I will stall due to not getting enough calories or fats. Although I was happy with the albs week one loss I was secretly hoping for more as I have been very strict the past week, could the aforementioned be the reason? Appreciate any feedback.
I usually do 20-30 minutes pilates daily and 10-20 minutes toning with light hand weights. Menu B Boiled egg (which I had to share with lil'one!) L tuna mayo and a salad of lettuce, olives and anchovies D chicken thigh and spinach curry with romaine lettuce S copious tea with unsweetned soya milk Boiled eggs if required Hope to get to know some of you better soon x. Busy x |

Induction Day 33
skelley331 :bravo: on the 2 pound loss.
busybusy12 :welcome2: and :congrat: on the 5 pound loss. I had a great time yesterday on a benifit motorcycle poker run for a great biker woman who was the victim of a hit and run driver. I logged 266 miles round trip from home with a great group of old and new friends. Some of it under water LMAO we went through a couple of rain storms that were incredible. Rain hurt like being hit with hail and in some points the water was ankle deep while riding the bike. I could not have been any wetter if I had swam across the Gulf of Mexico. We we all laughing our butts off when we got to a stop. A group of drowned rats we were but it could not be for a better cause than to help this friend. :D:carrot::D On the plus side MFP logged 1339 calories burned from 8 hours of motorcycle riding and I stayed on my Atkins plan. :carrot::carrot: 5/24/2015 6g Carbs, 105g Fat, 66g Protein My Daily Goal 18g Carbs, 109g Fat, 88g Protein |

That sounds great! |
busybusy... I seem to eat a lot of chicken and A LOT of fish... So pretty low fat protein choices... I've decided that since I tend to keep it pretty low fat I'm going to supplement with healthy fats... I recently bought a few different types of omegas to add to things... I've been trying things from Barlean's (flax oils, fish oils) and I like them... Not sure if they are available in the UK... But there must be something similar... just a thought.
Also I decided to order some Tonalin-CLA which I guess is some sort of healthy oil supplement that is supposed to help with fat burning... It's also from Barlean's and I ordered it from one of my local health food stores... I had never heard of it before, but I'm always up for trying new things... So we'll see if it helps at all... :) |

1lb chick thigh off the bone 2 bunches of fresh spinach 2-3 cloves of garlic and a knob of fresh ginger 1 small onion and 1/4 medium sized toms any oil/fat you use (I use olive) green chilly 2-3 (optional depending how much heat you like) tsp garam masala chop onion and toms, crush ginger and garlic and add to hot oil, add salt and red chilly powder and turmeric powder, fry on med/high heat for 5-10mins. Add chickstir fry for another 5-10mins adding a little water if it starts to stick - keep frying until the chicken starts to take on the colour of the spices. Add washed and chopped spinach and green chilly - stir fry until desired consistency. Its really nice if you add a tbsp of dry Kesuri Methi (sorry not what this is called in english but its a strong herb) Hope this helps x |

I have not checked in lately but have been on plan. :D I had a routine doctors appointment with my pulmonologist for my COPD. The appointment went well but I noticed his scale and my cardiologist's scale show higher weight than my home scale by about 5 pounds. After the appointment I checked mine again and it still reads low. This means my starting weight was higher and my current weight is higher than I thought. My loss so far of 23 pounds is accurate but the starting and current numbers are different. I am adjusting my signature. I bought a good digital scale and it agrees with my doctor's scale. Now for the first time ever I have a scale that gives me readings to the closest 10th of a pound.
Today's food 15g Carbs, 111g Fat, 92g Protein |

A good on plan day today. Tomorrow I am having a sleep test to see if my CPAP needs adjusting. My DW says I am snoring while using it. I told my Pulomologist this and he scheduled me for a sleep test. The last one I had was about fifteen years ago. This seems to be my week for doctors. On wednesday I see my Hemotologist who is following my anemia then on Thursday I have two appointments, one with the Gastroenterologist for routine follow up and my Eye Doctor for a follow up. He told me on my last visit that I have the precurser to macular degeneration. So these are the Golden Years? At least I have kept my sense of humor.

I weighed in yesterday and I lost one pound.. Slow but sure...
Larry you are doing fantastic, and are committed. That is wonderful. |
Slow but sure is a good thing rpm3060
Larry H you are doing awesome! Very inspiring! |
My scale was kind to me today and granted another 2 pound loss down to 279 :D:carrot::D :goodscale
That makes 43 days on Atkins Induction and 28 pounds lost I just left the Hospital where I had a Sleep Study last night. Was told I had 25 Sleep Apnea events per hour. Woke up with a mild headache which is unusual for me. The nurse said that was due to a lack of oxygen during the sleep test. It felt strange sleeping without my CPAP machine last night. |
Congratulations Larry H!!! Good job

I use fitness pal, and my calories, protein, fat and carbs are from MRC Maintenance.. For those of you that are trying to get back to maintenance as I am, what numbers do you have set into My fitnesspal, if that is what you use.
Thanks and I hope I am making myself clear. |
rpm3060:
I also use myfitness pal but I'm currently trying to get to my goal then to maintenance so not sure if this will help you or not. This is what I have my macros set for; Calories 1250 Carbs net 20 (5%) Protein 94 g (30%) Fat 90g (65%) |
I went for lab work and an office visit to my Hemotologist today.
I have been Anemic for two years. The bottom range for a normal red bood cell count is 13 and for two years I have been 12 and lower. Today my RBC was 14. The only thing I can attribute this increase to is the Atkins diet with its huge increase in my meat consumption. :D:D I am still a little low on white blood cells and platelets so I have another appointment when I return from New York. WOW!! Only three (3) grams of carbs today :woohoo: Breakfast Great Value - Cheese, Sharp Cheddar, Finely Shredded, 1/6 Cup Walmart Great Value - Extra Large Egg, 2 egg Great Value - Sweet Cream Butter Unsalted, 1 tbsp(s) Swaggerty - Premium Sausage Patties, 2 patty (1.2 oz) Lunch Home Made - Extra Large Hard Boiled Egg, 2 egg Dinner Jennie O - Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage (Lean), 4 link Total: 3g Carbs, 104g Fat, 110g Protein Goal: 18g Carbs, 109g Fat, 88g Protein |

Could we share some snacks? This is my problem at times. I cannot eat any of Atkins bars, shakes, etc.. I gain weight with them, so am with real food.
I do the Caprese Salad, with basil, low fat mozzarella cheese, balsamic vinegar, splash of olive oil, tomatoes.. Am open to any snack ideas one wants to share.. Thanks |

My snacks are:

Almost forgot my great news:
I went Monday for preventive health care testing. Had a heart scan for the first time and a vascular scan and blood work done. Drum roll please!!! All my test came back perfect!!! Was so excited. I got a picture of my heart scan and all my vascular test were clear, no blockage in my veins got to hear my hear beat for the first time ever! All this for $79 can't beat it. I don't have to go back for 4 yrs. My cholesterol was 199, blood pressure 108/58!!! Atkins is treating me good.:carrot::carrot::carrot: |

An interesting day today. Started with a trip to my eye doctor this morning for a follow up check. My last visit he said I had the precurser to macular degeneration and said to take vitamins and prescribed an eye ointment for each night. Good news the deteriation has been arrested. His exam showed no change from the last exam. This afternoon it was the Gastroenterologist turn. He said it was time for an EGD scope of my esophogus again and he scheduled it for June 9th. I have a condition called Barrets Esophogus caused by acid reflux. Their is danger of cancer developing there but so far so good. Hoping for good news on Tuesday.
A little low on calories today. Only 947 and I am full. Carbs were great at 7g |
