Aquareggie - can you get away with eating vegetarian pizza as a compromise and just tell you friends that you are trying to eat healthier and experimenting with vegetanarism/vegan in an effort to see what works best for you?
That way you can join them, not have to explain "diet" and then eat Vegan for the rest of the week.
Hope I'm not too late. Just found this forum. I'd love to lose weight by Halloween. I was hoping to lose weight before my Dr. appt. 10/13/03 but got sick for about 3 weeks straight. So really hoping to kick it into high gear for Halloween.
Current weight: 199 lbs (down 2 since 9/2/03)
Goal weight by 31st: 192 lbs (would love to get to 190)
Personal goal: start eating better, 1 step at a time.
Fitness goal: just started walking 30 min at lunch in addition to my 3 days at the YMCA (weight training, step and kickboxing)
I didn't lose this week. But had a vegan day yesterday.
I want the weight gone now. Now now now now now. It's going to take at least 60 more weeks. Why can't I actually get that thru my head? Guess this week was reality check for me. Oh well. Real is a good thing.

I know, the wait is painful. It is just like credit card debt....we finally get how we need to manage our money, but we still have to pay off the debt......
the weight, is our debt!!! we all have to have patience, because once we lose it, the REALLY hard part starts...keeping it off....
Mauvaisroux - I checked with my French teachers and the word for belly dance in French is either la danse du ventre or le balide (I'll have to confirm the spelling on that for you).
Yesterday was one of those hungry days. I just felt like eating. I showed some restraint and ate only lowfat munchies. Thank goodness I went to bed early! *LOL*
RB, that is a great analogy. I've been in that situation, too. A little lightbulb goes off in our heads, and we wish we'd never gotten to this place... "If I knew then what I know now..." Well, the good thing about time is that it develps habits. Like you said, keeping it off will be harder. If it takes a year and a half to lose it, I'll be more likely to keep it off eventually.
Couldn't wait till Monday just had to share that I am offically at 225. it wasn't flu weight like I thought! off to shop & EXERCISE. Have a sparkling day all!
AR---I agree, but the wait is so painful.. I have been hovering around the 9-11 mark since last week, but there was the holidays and life, and overall a 10 pound loss in six weeks is great in my book. Thank goodness we all have the support we have here...
Sflake.....that feels awful good doesn't it? Good for you, hope you bought yourself some great at the store....a new thing special!! congrats!!!
