Good afternoon GG's,

Yea ~ back home again. We took a 3 week road trip to see some of the great American sites. Maddie went with us, Sara (mama) joined us mid-way through the trip for a week. We went to Sante Fe, NM, Durango, CO where we rode an old steam engine ~ an all day trip to Silverton, CO. On the way there and on the way back, there was a person who was dressed in clothing of that time and was playing the part of a person in the history of that place and told of life at that time ~ that was interesting. Went to Mesa Verde and saw the cliff dwellings. The Grand Canyon, AZ. The four corners monument ~ where the four states Utah and Colorado
Arizona and New Mexico

come together. Got to see the Hoover Dam. Went to Las Vegas, NV (not to gamble, just to see it). Went to Salt Lake City, Utah and go to see the Mormon Tabernacle and Temple Square, the Utah State Capitol building. The Great Salt Lake ~ it was stinky. Traveled to Wyoming ~ The Grand Teton National Park and The Yellowstone National Park. Then traveled to Hill City, SD and got to see Mt. Rushmore. Rocky Mountain National Park and went to Pike's Peak. On the way home, stopped in Dallas, TX and went to Thanksgiving Square and the Thanksgiving Chapel and the George W. Bush (the younger Bush) Presidential Library.

It was fun, we got to see some neat stuff, but it sure was tiring.

Maddie is getting to stay overnight with a little friend tonight and will be with her tomorrow during the day, so we get a little break.

Forgive me if I don't do personals tonight ~ tired ~ it's gonna take me a few days to get rested up.

Missed you all while I was gone. I was able to read here sometimes, but other times, we had no phone signal and no wifi at the places we stayed. I was going through withdrawals ~ LOL.

Last night we visited our friend who is ill..found out they still don't know what kind of ca he has. That must be frustrating. They are transferring him to a hospital in OR that may be able to help him more. When we left we were hungry so stopped at a Chinese restaurant...dh liked his dish but mine wasn't very good...I ate all the veggies (at least there were a lot of them in a tasty sauce), but left the chicken which didn't taste fresh to me. My weight remains on the high end of my range but I forgot to take my bs this morning. We went to the gym and I got a good workout, at least the best I do these days...walked/jogged 1/2 mi, rode arm bike 6 min, stationary bike 18 min and used three weight machines, working back/waist, legs/hips and arms. We stopped for a few groceries on the way home. We are babysitting this evening and son said he's bringing home pizza. I will probably make a salad or some veggie.

Need to get to my cleaning...didn't do much yesterday and so far nothing today. My plan today is to clean my office and the hall. While we were at the gym I got a text from my dil that Halo had gotten into my office and peed on the one of the kids' pillows, on a stuffed animal and the plastic mat under my chair. She cleaned it up, just left me a few things to wash. I was a little concerned about Halo when we left....she was still asleep so we didn't put her out as dh had put her out very early this morning. I think she woke up, my dil (she wears a hearing aid but still might not have heard her), and the children didn't pay any attention. She always whimpers and will bark if she gets very desparate. But again, she did not do it on the carpet...she seems to know she must avoid carpets and if she can't hold it always tries to get to a throw rug (or in this case the plastic mat). I tell them to keep that door closed so she won't get on the trundle bed but they get up and go to their mama's room in the mornings and leave the door open. She loves to lie on the bed or pillow. So if she got up and no one put her out, she probably tried to sleep on the pillow but couldn't hold it and did the best she could, poor thing.

Wow, Glynne, you saw a lot in your travels! I made note of a few things you mentioned that I don't think we've seen (some I know) in case we get a chance to to that way again...Durango, CO and Silverton, CO (not sure), 4 Corner Monument, Pike's Peak/Rocky Mt National Park (probably drove through but can't remember much), and Dallas, TX. We have friends in Dallas so may visit them someday. We still plan to take a road trip to MO and on to KY before long. I think we'll probably take the northern route there and southern route home.

Sandy - Sounds like some good times. A book club sounds fun. Glad you got to visit with your son.

Carol - Hows your pain today, any better? I made an appt to get my arm check but can't get in til the 22nd. My back has also been hurting again since I've been sitting reading so much. I have a hard time maintaining good posture in the chair I've been sitting in.

Supposed to get to 81 today...too warm for me but this morning it's just right. You all take care and have a good day.

My pain is gone. It goes away by itself, and comes back by itself. I have had back pain since my 20s and have done chiropractors when it won't go away on its own. Mary, my shoulder clicks sometimes. I hear/feel it mostly if I reach forward for something, but it doesn't hurt. Just like a bone clicking.

Sandy, I sleep mostly on my side, so no pillow. They put a pillow under my knees in the hospital when I had to sleep on my back. I am able to sleep with the CPAP masks. I don't know if I'm getting good sleep, but I know it's better than if I didn't have it. I don't know how it is compared to other people. I slept until 3 AM last night, then laid awake for 2 hours, then fell back to sleep until 8. I can remember back in my 20s I would fall asleep and not wake up until the alarm went off. I don't know how much longer I would have slept if I didn't have to get up for work. That would be nice to sleep the whole night like that, but those days are gone. I will not take anything to help me sleep, except Tylenol occasionally.

Gayle, it's good to see you back. It sounds like you had a very nice trip. Wish I could do that, but we have no one to keep the dog while we're gone. DH wouldn't want to drive that much, either.

So far this morning I've been on the phone trying to set up an appt to have my eyes checked r/t the pain I continue to have. I called one place and ask for a specific dr who was on my ins list. That was yesterday...and the lady insisted on knowing who the primary subscriber is on my ins. I told her there wasn't one...we each are our own. She said that was impossible. So I called today and found out I was right, and called her back and she finally believed me and set up the appt but right at the end I find out it was not with the person I asked for. She told me the name and I said is that spelled Shea and she said well it's spelled differently and seemed to suddenly be rushing the call. I accepted that thinking I could still look this person up in my ins list...but couldn't find anyone that was spelled anything like I expected. I did find what looked like a Vietnamese name, checked her reviews and they weren't so good. I realize you can't totally go by online reviews but something didn't feel right so I cancel that appt. I didn't about her being Vietnamese as long as I can understand her, I didn't care she was female, but I felt sorta tricked into accepting a different person without being told upfront plus the bad reviews so I cancelled. Might have liked someone else in that clinic but then felt uncomfortable calling back for another person. Finally found someone in the clinic I used to go to (my dr is retiring)...a bit further away but not much. Looked him up and he looks very good so hoping to like him and also I can get in tomorrow.

Last night we babysat and it was supposed to be two hours (plus driving time), but turned out to be four hrs. I was hurting in my back (old back pain coming back and it's the worst!) plus my arm. Don't blame the hurting on the kids...they were good...but I was just hurting to much really to be taking care of small children. I've told them I feel to old to babysit, esp that many hours, but they keep asking and I have a hard time saying no esp since they are living here. My son said he made a mistake about the time and they left too early that's why it was longer. The children are easier to care for these days but ask for snacks a lot...usually just pb sand, cereal and/or chocolate milk...easy stuff and they don't eat very healthy meals so I feel like they need it. I don't mind getting things for them but when I'm hurting it's kinda hard. When I realized the parents were running late, I got them into bed and they ask for a story. I think because for once they had no electronics. So I read them a couple short books and again, was happy to do it but it's not easy when I hurt. I took Tyl but it didn't help that time. I took more Tyl about 11 but it didn't seem to help...had a rough night but finally got some sleep early this morning and feel better today so far.

Carol - Sometimes that crunching sound/feeling is from scar tissue and that might be what it is with my shoulder/arm but with the increased pain I want it checked just in case something has been overlooked. I don't want it to be anything that requires surgery so sure hope not. At least I have not allowed it to be come frozen, I am able to move it...just hurts and crunches with some movements. I also have some restriction on movement. I just would love to be able to sleep on both sides again...sometimes in the morning I am able to for a few minutes but that's about it. Most of the time it just feels like a slight sprain but it's been about four years now (at least) since I re-injured it and I had a few months of PT. I probably need to start doing all my PT exercises again for my back but the ones for my shoulder never really helped that much.

Talk later...

Mary, reading about your arm, I just realized that my shoulder hasn't been crunching lately, for a few days. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the back pain I was having that also went away recently. I got the original back injury 40 years ago and never did any more about it than see a chiropractor from time to time, but realizing that our bones are all connected together, I'm thinking the two were related. Lately I have just been letting the hot shower hit on my shoulders and neck, and lower back when I take a shower, plus getting some back rubs from DH when I can coax him. LOL I hope you find relief somehow. Your problem sounds different from mine.

I don't mean to call you old, but I agree that you are getting to old to be taking care of young children. Not so much as putting the children in danger, but just for your own health, especially since you have no say so in how they are being raised. We don't watch our grandson much anymore, but that's mostly because they have moved farther away and it's not as convenient. His other grandparents watch him more than we do, and they live closer, but they are in AZ over the winter.

We have neighbors across the street who practically raised their granddaughter so that her single mother could work. When the granddaughter grew up and had a baby she wanted them to do the same, but they refused. It was just asking too much of them.

I'm sorry to hear the problem you had with making an eye appointment. I think you should get the doctor you requested. We had a dentist who was a favorite of us both. He still owns the practice, and he is still on the television commercial, but has taken on some other dentists and that's who you get if you call for an appointment. He's younger than we are, but I guess he's in a position to just collect the profit from the practice instead of doing the work.

It has been a very hot humid summer here for us. Unbearable. So many days near or in the 90s, and it is so humid it smells like a laundry out there. I will be very happy to see fall weather come. I've spent most of the summer in the house, unfortunately. I would like to lose a few more lbs and be able to fit into some of the fall and winter clothes I couldn't wear last year.

Yesterday esp evening was painful ...my back was the worst. Until recently I haven't had that pain for a few years. Trying to get back to my exercises. Last night was easier. I took Tyl and Benedry (so basically Tyl PM except just a bit stronger I think), and after two hours I took 2 of my Hyland leg cramp pills...never tried that before for my back but the back pain is a spasm so thought it might work. Well either it did or finally the Tyl and Benedryl kicked in because I went to sleep and slept pretty well after that. So thankful. This morning my backs ok but my rt leg is hurting...guess when we get old something has to hurt. Yesterday we babysit for a short time...maybe 45 min. I was really hurting during that time but at least it wasn't long. And yes, I do feel too old to babysit more than a couple hours...maybe because I never had a mom to babysit my kids....we had to hire someone if we went out without them which was seldom.

I finally called the clinic where my previous opthamologist is (the one that's retiring) and got an appt for this afternoon with another doctor there. Looked him up and he looks pretty good. Actually my eyes aren't bothering me much but since I can make them hurt by pressing on the lid sometimes I just want to be sure iritis isn't coming back. I rather doubt it but I'll feel better for knowing and since I have to change doctor's this will be our intro visit. I hope he's as nice as my previous doctor is. Thought later perhaps I should have had them look for an appt with him as it would be nice to say goodbye to him. I hope he enjoys retirement. This receptionist said (unlike the other one) that he is still taking appts if he has openings in the time he has left), It was just hard to turn down getting an appt today. Perhaps I'll see him there.

How nice for that dentist!...some people just know how to do things like that.

It's supposed to get to 91 today...way too hot for me! But I think so far we've had a very nice summer....I'm sorry for you who gets so much really hot humid weather. This is about the only time we do get the very high temps (mid-late Aug) usually.

Well I have much to do and won't be long til my appt.

Mary Your 91 degrees would be better than HIGH 90's we're having. We stay inside when it hits high 80's. This morning we did a bit in garden in the wonderful high shade we have in back. Front was full sun, awful.
Hope you can get good sleep and become free of pain.

I remember, too, sleeping all the way thru when I was a teenager. I had our first child at 21 and it seemed my nights have been interrupted until fairly recently. Of course the normal "empty my bladder" trips, usually only one but occasionally will be more. I usually get right back to sleep. If I don't within about 20 to 30 minutes, I get up and go read in Living Room.

Carol Sue Your back injury, that is one of my fears. Seems to be one of the worst. Glad your legs suddenly decided not to fuss at you. May that breathing device choice be easier to make and satisfactory.

Gayle Your enormous trip sounds delightful. With Maddie along, too, I'm amazed you all did so well. Good for you!!! Wondered where you were.

I just had Advance Tech go into my computer and work on it. Hopefully that will take care of some of the problems I was having. I asked about the possible "Disk failure." He asked, "have you been getting error messages?"
I have not. He said that is a good thing!!! Sure hope it continues.

I'm sticking to Windows 7 and DH has that on his notebook computer in the the TV Room. Our son gave him and Pat one each of the larger Monitors from the office that they didn't need. What a huge difference. He gave me the one I have when he was buying them for the office, so this one is huge, too and only about a year old.

They chose his old Algebra Teacher as his Realtor. She did an amazing job to put a great movie of his home on u-tube. It shows the marvelous complex they've developed with 2 story home, basement that opens to Pool and Hot tub, and down the hill the great fishing lake He developed from springs near by. I didn't realize how many changes in roof direction in that house, because I've never been above it. Our home is simple range with simple roof (thank goodness.)

Going to dinner with a new friend in the city, got to get ready soon. May our weather give us all a break! Sandy

Today is supposed to be our last of temps in the 90s for a while. It's supposed to be in the mid to low 80s through Wednesday, but with storms each day. That will probably keep the humidity up.

I hope you got everything fixed on your computer, Sandy.

And I hope your appointment went well, Mary.

Well, yesterday was supposed to get to 91 and ended up at 96! Didn't bother me because I was mostly in doors...only out to see the eye dr. At the clinic I had to wait a few minutes in the lobby, then I saw the tech, answered her questions, then waited a total of 1 hr and 15 min in the little room for the doctor! He spoke very fast although he didn't actually hurry me and was thorough in his exam and explaining things. He did not see any iritis ...I didn't think he would but it's good to know for sure. He said I do have an abrasion on my eye ball (apparently this is common) and that dryness may get in it and that may be why it's much more painful at times. Otherwise he told me to just up my lubricating drops again and to take the "one time or disposable" type as they do not have the preservatives as preservatives cause some people problems. I don't like taking those kind as they are expensive and seem so wasteful...there is always some left in the little vial but I bought them in case they help me. Then I continue the gel type drops at night. So I'm back to setting alarms on my phone to remind me of the drops (ugh!). My back was hurting while I was there and I considered going to urgent care for some stronger pain med but when I called the ONE urgent care that was on our insurance list, they said they didn't have urgent care there. So I called the insurance co and she tells me I can go to a couple places that are even further for me...I told her there are many urgent cares near where I live and I didn't think I should have to go so far. She looked up my coverage and finally said I can go anywhere that takes Humana since I don't have a deductible. I would think they would have them on the website list since the search is set up for my type policy, not just any. I really thought I might need to go last night so I'm glad I called, but I managed to make it through the evening and took my usual pain/sleep concoction last night and actually slept pretty well. I made honey chicken, stir-fry green beans last night and the kids seem to like it, they ate it all.

Sandy - Your son's house sounds nice. It sounds a lot like our dd's home at the coast. They too have a lake and deer come into their back yard. I've seen her large tub on FB. Like you I'm happy enough with my little ranch house all on one floor.

Because of my pain, I have not gotten over all my house this week...hope to quickly clean the living room today, to mop the kitchen floor, scrub the kitchen sink and faucet and maybe clean out the pantry. I really doubt I'll get all that done but I'll try as so far no pain. I think we are having barbecue burgers and salad tonight.

Take care you all..

Mary what a relief that you don't have iritis (what is that?) The drops are ones I used to use but forgot about. I'll pick up up after Church tomorrow because I realize now that is why I feel as if I have to blink so often.
The single viles are expensive, I agree. Sure hope you regain your energy and get rid of that pain.

CarolSue This extra hot weather is down right scary!!! Thank God for air conditioning. We did receive some rain as DH was mowing. Not much but the temperature is better. Right about the humidity becoming so high.
We are fairly close to you and hope our temps also drop. It was at least 97 when the rain hit.

We visited our friend in the hills of a town I don't know and got lost over and over even with garmen system. Luckily I got off interstate early because a tractor trailer just turned over 10 minutes earlier and traffic was backed up for miles. By going early I was lucky.

Another couple I like were also invited to MF's dinner and the 5 of us had hours of delightful conversation and good food. Both women are in my book club but this is first time DH met them, and BS's husband who ended up being a fisherman, too. Sure am glad we got to go.

MF wants me to think about moving into her apartment complex, but the cost would wipe out our savings in before the end of the year. If we sold house, we could stay longer, but actually glad we realize this is too high living for us.
She is almost blind, but gets around well because she knows the place after 5 years there. Lots of windows everywhere. COmplex built in an H so every apartment has a deck to outside and a view!!! Really delightful.

FOr this year we've been fortunate to only have regular doctor's appointments and so far no real illness. DH's blood pressure went up today for the first time this year. He stopped blood pressure meds mid winter. He takes his blood pressure twice a day and records it. He also puts notes in such as last night's nightmare that had him scared, and probably accounts for high pressure that early.

Pictures of our many gardens shows that Tomatoes and Peppers are so few compared to past years. Not sure because the soil was good, lots of rain, but perhaps too little sun????

I also noticed that I've really let the front Mail Box Garden get full of weeds. Now that the rain has cooled off the temps, think I'll go pull some weeds. That garden is one that has finished blooming all day lilies and coneflowers, so I may simply cut them back near the ground. Olympics have been fun to watch. Was up after 1:00 am watching what I'd missed by going out to dinner. Then was too excited to get to sleep till after 2:00 am. Grrrrrr.

Computer seems to be working well today. In past It would stall as I was writing but none of that since the Technician worked on it. Hopefully we get another year out of it.

Our thermometer says it's only 78 degrees outside right now, but it's pouring down rain so that probably cooled it down. We are going out after the rain stops so I'll see if it feels that cool. The humidity is probably still high.

Sandy, most of the apartment complexes around here suitable for seniors are very high priced. There is one in particular that is very nice and has a lot of activities, but you have to buy in, then pay a high rent. You have a period of time to adjust during which you can change your mind and get a refund, but after that time, your money is gone. It's scary to me to have to stay here alone if that situation arises. Even DH is starting to feel the strain of what he has to do. I told him this week that we should have bought that house up the street when it was for sale. Would have been perfect in my mind, but not in his. LOL

I think it's possible that a nightmare could raise a person's blood pressure. Last night I woke up and could feel my heart racing. I tried to use my pulse-ox to check my heart rate but it was dead. I checked it on my Fitbit and it was in the 90s, which is very high for me. My resting heart rate is normally in the 50s. I don't know what caused that. Maybe I had a nightmare but didn't realize it. I have a lot of dreams, but they are not usually scary. I got up and drank some water then went back to bed and it was up for a while. Now it's back to normal. It's 55 right now. DH put new batteries in my pulse-ox and it's working again. I keep it by my bed.

Mary, I'm sorry to hear that your back is still bothering you so much. My pain comes and goes, but it's really never bad enough to require more than an occasional Motrin.

My step daughter had an injury to her eye once when she was still in high school. She rubbed her eye while wearing artificial fingernails and caused a flap to raise up. It was very painful. She had to wear a patch for a while, and use eye drops, and it bothered her for years. The eye doctor told her it would never heal, but she hasn't mentioned it for a long time so I wouldn't be surprised if it healed.

I hope the drops work for you.

Carol Sue Your step daughter's eye injury sounds scary. Our oldest was 5 when her brother shot her in eye with rubber band. Dr. checked it and we coud see the shape of the hit, he put in special meds and she is now in 50's and doesn't complain. Being young may have helped. She does wear glasses and has since 1st grade.

Night mares and high blood pressure. I'll tell DH about your experience. His is normal, in fact very good today. Rain cools off, but for us it is still a cooker without rain today.

Moving to another place: We plan to stay here as long as we can. At least our lot is flat and single story. Largest problem would be yard work and being so far from stores and church. Trying to live one day at a time and just for today I've been glued to Olympics after going to early Mass at 9:00 am.

Worried about all the many substitutes I needed to find for this week at Adoration, but got one yes, second probably and I am NOT going out and miss any of the Olympics even if no one covers some of the hours!!!

We go to Doctors tomorrow, Massage, Grocerys and out to eat. I'm missing Wednesday's speical things at Church, but going Thursday for Mass and Lunch Bunch because this is DH's special pleasure!!!

A nice pleasant but warm day about 84 degrees I think right now. We went to church and then to Shari's for lunch. Just shared some appetizers plus I got a side salad. Followed that with a trip to Fred Meyers for a few grocery and other items. I found some gel nail polish that doesn't require a light to set, hope it does a good job and keeps my nails strong. I usually get my nails done but the last probably 5 or 6 times the gel manicure has chipped after a week...it's supposed to last 2 weeks. So thought perhaps I could make my nails look better here at home in between manicures. I can't do a manicure as well as they do but I don't have to have the whole manicure done every week, just like the polish to keep them stronger. Sometimes I just use nail strengthener polish but this will be another color option.

The kids are still hoping to get the house key by Friday...haven't heard a thing yet though. Sure hope they won't be disappointed again. I know they are anxious to have their own place and I would be the same.

I don't watch the Olympics but do catch some of it online. Just can't sit there and if I did I'd be eating. Dh watches it all the time though and we talk about it now and then.

I rarely have nightmares...did when I was younger though. Last night something kind of strange happened (at least strange to me). I thought I was awake, trying to sleep. All I know is I got to thinking about myself walking down a sidewalk in a neighborhood and seeing a dog. It wasn't scary really but there was a sort of sinister aspect to it, like I didn't really know the neighborhood or something. I think I was young. It seemed so real and I thought it was a memory but then I tried to remember where it happened and I couldn't. It still seems very real in my mind like it really happened. I also feel I had started the walk from a school. But I have thought and thought and I cannot remember where I was or anything else about it even though I went way back to age 3 in my mind trying to remember. I can only figure that I was dreaming. The mind does interesting and strange things sometimes.

My recent labs showed my triglycerides are high so I'm trying to eat less fat. I've cut the pb in my mochas to 1/2 T and trying to be more careful about fat with my meals too. I don't feel I eat really high fat though so it's not easy. It reminds me of the One-One-One Diet...where you eat very balanced...one carb, one protein and one fat each meal and snack. I tend to eat that way anyway, but have to admit sometimes I eat a larger portion that I should of the carb and fat often. Not so much the protein.

Last night we didn't like the barbecue burgers I made and we both threw away at least 1/2 but I did eat several brussel sprouts. They are not a big favorite....i don't eat half a plate like many veggies.. but sometimes I like them. Tonight my dil is cooking a Mexican dish. We usually just snack on Sun eve but will try her dish at least.

I've read a few good books recently and am still reading two. I'm really enjoying reading on my iPad. My gs sometimes wants it but I remind him that I am now using it again and he has his own iPad, just needs to charge it quickly when it begins to get low on power. He tends to use his until it dies and then wants mine, but no more since I've gone back to using it. He's on electronics far too much anyway.

My back hasn't hurt too badly today but it was starting to get worse before we left the store. I lay down for a bit and think I will again, then after that I'll go out and work in the yard a bit if cool enough by then.

Good afternoon GG's,

(Saturday) It started out to be a drizzly day, but it cleared off and is partly sunny out now ~ humid ~ yuck. I was out running errands this morning ~ it was ok when I got in the stores, but between the car and the stores ~ yuck ~ humid. Glad to be inside again now.

Now, just puttering around ~ passing the time ~ waiting for Jason to stop by. He is gonna share with us how a class he took last week went.

One more week, then school starts for Maddie. She'll be in the 3rd grade.

(Sunday) I started this yesterday, but then never got back to it.

Jason finally came by ~ we had a nice visit with him.

I have been doing puttery stuff today. Started a couple little sewing projects. One for Maddie ~ I got a small shoulder bag/purse for $.99 at Goodwill. We had talked about some kind of a thing like that that she could put her beloved stuffed animal Zeebee in ~ she carries him around a lot of places and she does a pretty good job of not losing him, but I worry that one of these times, he might get set down and forgotten. She's had him since she was 2. I kind of reshaped the flap (velcro close) so that Zeebee can be in it and have his head stick out, but the strap will go across his back so he won't fall out. If she doesn't like it, I'm only out $.99. It would have cost more to buy cloth and make some kind of thing. And after spending money and effort to make it ~ she might not like it ~ I won't feel so bad if she doesn't like this thing ~ didn't cost much and didn't take a lot of time.

Mary ~ sorry you are having so many pain issues. Not fun. Hope your son gets the house like he hopes ~ will be good for he and his family ~ but you also. I understand about the babysitting. Maddie isn't too hard at the age she is now ~ thankfully. If I was any older and she was younger, I don't think I could do it every day ~ all day like we do in the summer time. Like you, I don't watch the Olympics. I just can't seem to get into it. Steve watches it ~ all of it. We are so different in our TV viewing preferences ~ so glad we each have an area where we can watch what we like.

Sandy ~ glad you got some of the spots filled for the chapel time. Glad too that you will get to watch the Olympics that you enjoy. Your day tomorrow sounds like a full day, but an enjoyable one. About moving ~ I would be content just to stay here. When we moved to this place ~ Steve said it would be our last move ~ and picked a place that was a one story place. Sometimes, he has talked about moving to another kind of place, but not recently, so don't know how that will all turn out. I used to get stressed thinking about it, but it is nothing that is gonna happen any time soon. We have a lot of decluttering to do and stuff to go through and get rid of and sort out. That will take a while. I tell him, it isn't gonna happen if we don't stay home to get it done.

Carol Sue ~ it has been somewhat cooler here today with the rain. I was out only long enough this morning to get the Sunday paper ~ I don't think it felt quite as humid as it did yesterday. It wasn't as bad ~ hot ~ in the house either today. We have AC, but the one unit ~ struggles to keep up when it gets really hot out. We've had it checked ~ they tell us there is nothing wrong with it ~ but I don't understand then ~ if there is nothing wrong with it ~ why it won't cool. The other unit ~ on the same day when it is just as hot ~ cools its area of the house nicely. Of course ~ that area is where Steve hangs out and he is the cold one. I think we need to trade areas ~ LOL ~ let him have the area that is too hot, since he always feels cold, and give me the nice cool area.

Hope you all have had a nice weekend.

Picture is of Maddie with Zeebee ~ she keeps him under her arm like a purse. While we were traveling, she was sitting in the back seat reading a book and had him right beside her like he was reading right along with her. Zeebee has had quite a life ~ many adventures. They had a big lab dog at one time and that dog got a hold of Zeebee and pulled his tail off. I had to do tail reattachment surgery ~ LOL. He is getting kind of threadbare now and his stuffing has kind of settled (after having had to be washed several times). She was wanting me to put some more stuffing in him, but I can't find the seams. I think that is too specialized a job for me ~ I would hate to try and get him opened up and not be able to get him back together right. I fear she would be very upset with me. I know my limitations ~ LOL.

Sorry the picture came out sideways ~ I don't know why it does that sometimes.

I guess I spoke too soon about my back feeling better. It hurt a lot when I went to bed. I took a Motrin, but after about an hour it still hurt some so I took another. That's what the directions says to do. It must have worked because I slept deep and long. I have an appointment with the chiropractor at 3:30.

Did anyone ever hear the superstition that if a picture fell off the wall, someone was going to die? I got up around 6 AM and was sitting here reading and I heard a crash. It even scared the dog. I came in to see what fell but couldn't find anything, but then I noticed that a picture fell off the dining room wall and went down behind the computer desk. First thing I did was to into the bedroom to see if DH was OK. LOL It was a picture of my step-daughter from when she graduated high school, so it's been up there for 30 years, and the hook on the back of the picture broke, so it's no shame that it fell. DH tried to fix it and put it back up, but it fell again.

Sandy, Our house is considered one floor, but it's actually two because we have a basement. We have to go down the stairs to get to the garage, and if we go out the front door we have to go down steps to get to the driveway. The house I wanted to buy up the street had no basement. It was wheel chair adapted with a wheel chair accessible shower. I really wanted to buy that house, planning for the future. We are very close to many stores and shopping and I would love to stay in the same area if we moved. There are 4 houses in a row up there where that house was, so maybe one of them will go up for sale. But having that one be wheel chair adapted was a good selling point, thinking ahead to possibilites in the future. I always try to plan ahead.

Gayle, I can't get over how Maddie has grown! My grandson is 8. He would be going into third grade but them held him back a year.

Mary, I love brussels sprouts. Just this week I bought some from Birds Eye, with sea salt and cracked black pepper. I usually just buy Walmart brand by I had a coupon to try the Birds Eye.

My tryglycerides went down when I switched to low carb eating and quit eating sweets. I don't think that's really an option for you. LOL I also take meds for it. The meds have gone up in price this year and unless the doctor switches me to another drug I might stop taking it.
