Hi ladies,

Mary - we grow our own popcorn, so we usually have that, cooked on the stove, with no butter. Sometimes it's nice to have the microwave kind on hand, though, and I buy the Orville Redenbacher Tender White. It isn't lite, so I have to watch my portions, but it is so good!

Silver - you'll be back in those clothes before you know it! I have never shared my weight with anyone, just because for me it's a personal thing. I never did mind telling my age, though, haha.

Trish - I like to get some chocolate in my diet, too! Have you tried the Fudgesicle No Sugar Added ice cream bars? 40 calories, and oh so good! Not exactly a "whole food", but ya gotta have a treat sometimes!

Colleen - hope you pop in soon and tell us what you've been up to.

Thank you for your kind words about Sharon and the grands.

The scales moved in the right direction this week, and I've now lost 32.6 pounds, and have almost completed the first six months of being OP. Thirty-two pounds is how much 4 gallons of milk weighs! My knees are thanking me, and they will be ecstatic when I get to goal of losing 100 pounds, lol.

Have a good weekend!

guess I'll post a bit while having my am snack...vanilla soy milk. wanted milk this am with my pancakes but would have made me go over in carbs so had to wait. patience and discipline...definitely a part of living of a diet! Oh well, it tastes even better now!

It's a warm day...suppose to be in the 90s. Joe wanted to sit outside for a while, so I got him out there but I was only in and out as I worked inside and out catching up on housework. Almost done now and he is once again back inside with his leg up. He is trying to keep the swelling down as when his leg is dependent too long it gets worse. He was showing me how easy now it is for him to stand up from a sitting position. It's amazing how he improves each day! Yesterday was kind of a difficult day emotionally and physically but so far today is better. I know there are bound to be those days. He's a very social and active man usually so this is hard for him.

Jane - I love those 40 cal no sugar fudgsicles too! I try to only buy them a few times a year usually in the summertime because I love them so much! This year I did much better...I guess I am finally growing some discipline at least. I'm impressed with your weightloss! Congrats! You inspire me I was expecting to be back down to where I was on Memorial Day but no, I was only down .2 lb. About the hypnosis I don't know if it is helping or not. I haven't really changed my habits/routines...I remember what she tells me at times but am I remembering due to hypnosis or just remember?...I don't know. And other days I don't think about it at all. The instructions say it does not work when you are asleep. Don't think I missed much the last time though as the session is only 12 min. long and I remember most of it and I was also awake at the end so probably only dropped off for a couple minutes.

Hope you all have a lovely day!!

Silver thanks for the link to the yoga page. My lady and I will be using it. I have practiced yoga on and off since I was 17. I think there was a pay off because I am still slightly flexible. Now looking at tai chi, there is a class on Monday mornings near by. This might be a good thing to do during the winter months after my lady recovers.
Mary hypnosis is interesting. I used it with my clients. It works, but works better when the client and practitioner have a high level of trust in one another.

Today is a stay at home and do housework day. We bought the food for the month on Thursday and I still need to make the cooking portions. It is a lot easier for me to meal plan if I know the cal counts ahead of time. Course month's food does not include milk; that we buy each week.

Jane grow your own popcorn! you do live in the midwest . Good for you for staying OP. keeps me motivated.

Hello, all!

Jane, thanks for the kind thoughts. I had to chuckle about not posting the weight, but yes to posting the age. I'm the other way round on this forum. It took a lot of courage for me to post that I had weighed so much. I'm still embarrassed at the weight I am now. Wanted to keep something for myself, and to have success on a weight loss forum, I figured tell the weight, but keep other things private. It was easier to post on a crochet forum, but didn't help me get sleeker.

Trish, am sending you good thoughts for your health. That takes some care, keeping track of blood sugar and blood pressure.

Maryea, I'm glad your DH is mending well. I'm sorry it's so hot while he's recovering.

Chicpanda, I hope there's something on Yogatic you can use. Much of it is too hard for me at this point, but I notice that I'm getting stronger and stronger. And the sleeker I get, the easier it is to bend exactly in half. Tai Chi would be wonderful, it just has a very high learning curve. I'm not keen on the cost of learning or the time it would take to master the whole cycle, just now. Perhaps at some point. It's beautiful. When I lived in San Francisco I used to enjoy watching the elderly Chinese people doing Tai Chi in the parks.

I think growing popcorn would be a fun gardening experiment. I grow herbs, as they are mostly perennials, but have some tomatoes and okra this year. May try bell peppers again next year or chilis. I grow stevia every year, as the leaves taste so nice and sweet. It has no calories and helps to stabilize blood sugar. I eat a few leaves in the morning when I'm watering the plants. My food plants are all grown in containers. I'm not keen on kneeling on the ground.

Have been jumping on my rebounder again and enjoying it. Don't know why I haven't been using it the last few years now that I have one again. It's grand, to just do a gentle bounce and listen to an inspirational tape or study one of my exercise videos for fine tuning how to do the exercises.

Hope you all have a lovely evening!

Jane CONGRATULATIONS on the 32 lbs gone and for the 6 mos OP. You are doing great. I am so happy for you. I haven't bought any kind of ice cream even the Fudgesicles NSA mainly because the darker chocolate seems to cause my BS to spike. The chocolate shake has just enough chocolate for taste and seems to work.

Maryea I'm glad your hubby is getting better. I think Tony's leg is getting better, but he can't see it. He has so many things going on now that it is almost overwhelming for him. He found out he is diabetic and his has not come down a lot yet, but I think he is going to have to have medication to help him. He loves his ice cream and I may have to get him some of those NSA Fudgesicles.

chicpanda When my kids were teenagers and I worked, I would spend one of my days off to cooking for the week ahead. It made it so much easier for everybody to go in and take out what they wanted and thaw it in the microwave and have a meal. Sure was easier on me too.

Silver I understand about being embarrassed about your weight. About 7 years ago, I lost approx 70 lbs. I went home for a visit and everyone was so proud of me. We moved to SC 3 years ago and I never could get back on my low carb woe and I slowly started gaining a lot of it back. I never got back to where I was when I lost all that weight but I did come close. I got to where I just could not lose no matter what I did. When I found this new physician and he told me that my blood sugar was up, it was just what I needed to get me back on low carb. The medicine he put me on does not bring the blood sugar down like most diabetic meds... this one is supposed to help me lose weight. I look forward to getting this weight off again and hope I can see my goal weight this time.

Y'all have a nice evening.

Good Sunday Morning Ladies,

Didn't make it to church today. Woke up early to check on hubby because he hadn't been to bed. He was just going to bed at 6am. I usually move to my recliner about that time and sleep an hour or two. Still sleepy but finally woke up a little after 9. So I didn't make it this morning. I needed the sleep and was thrilled to see that my BP was 106/61 this about normal for me. My BS was 109. Yeah!!! Then I went in to weigh and I was down 2 more lbs. bringing my total to 15 lbs for the year. I have my own modified low carb really almost like the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet and it is working. Yesterday when I talked to my Daddy that I had my own diet which is a combo really of many things I have learn. He said his doctor told him that there are many diets out there and people write a lot of books on what works, but truth is that a person has to learn and do what works for themselves. I am so excited that this is what has happened for me.

Have a Super Sunday everybody!!!

Trish, congratulations on your successes! It is nice to find what works for us, I agree. And to have that confirmed by someone in the family helps a lot.

Hi ladies,

Mary - glad Joe is doing better. He'll be chasing you around the kitchen table before you know it, lol.

Coralee - making out your meal plans in advance really helps me, too. I've been doing that for over 25 years, and find I don't waste many groceries, plus I can add up my calories before I eat them.

Silver - I think me keeping mum about my weight started in high school, when, at 5' 9" tall, I outweighed most of my friends by about 20 - 30 pounds. I wasn't fat, but thought I was. I remember the gym teacher weighing us in front of each other, and my weight was 147, and feeling mortified! Right then and there I decided it wasn't something I ever wanted to share again. I'm embarrassed at my current weight, too, and can't believe I let myself regain what I lost a few years ago. We are on the right track, though, and that's what counts! When I was in SF last year, I saw about a dozen baby boomers doing Tai Chi in the park across from the Japanese Gardens. Such graceful movements!

Trish - YAY for all your good news - the weight loss, lower BP, and lower BS, too! I didn't make it to church today, either, since I am just worn out from the stress of the week. Thank you for your kind words. One of the best things about losing, and being OP for the past 6 months is that for these months, I haven't fretted about being out of control of myself. I absolutely love knowing that I am eating healthful foods, and doing what I can to honor the body God gave me.

Hello to anyone reading this.

I thought I already posted on this thread, earlier today. Guess I'm losing it, lol. Today we're going to grandson Tyler's 7th birthday party. Mary wasn't sure if she should go ahead and have it or not, but I, and others, told her Sharon would never want the party cancelled.

Yowza, it is still so hot and humid here, that I can't spend very long at all outside. Neal thrives in the heat, having been used to it since he was a kid.

Have a good Sunday, and try to keep cool!

Hi Everyone!
I am new to this site. Looking for some support to stay healthy and lose the last 15 lbs.

I feel like I am hungry all the time and enjoy going out to eat. I sometimes don't have the energy to exercise, but know it would help.

I had lost 18 lbs from November '09 to a month ago, then started gaining it back. I'm up 6 lbs now and can't wear my size 10's anymore! I am now back on program and trying to be good....it's so difficult!!!

HELP!
Tari

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a nice Sunday. We too are not back to church yet but hope to start again next Sunday. It's quite a ways to walk even if I drop him off in front. There are several carpeted stairs going the shortest way into the sanctuary and using the ramp it is further. Then the carpet in the sanctuary(to me at least) is a little disorienting, and the floor declines toward the altar and then of course it's uphill going back and when you go out a side door which we normally do, it can be a little uneven and disorienting too. Don't know exactly how to describe it but that's why I have felt it was best to wait a while. My dh and I always read the Bible and pray together every morning and on Sundays we just read a little more since we are not in church.

Tari - welcome to our group!! It's not always easy for sure but we can do this and we are here to encourage you.

Jane - LOL He's not exactly chasing me around the table yet but he is definitely feeling back to normal in the romance department! Which I take as a very good sign!

Patty - I subscribe to Peertrainer.com and what you are doing they call diet fusion. Where you take parts of programs and put them together in a diet of your own to make it work for you personally. I practice diet fusion too..like peertrainer says most of us KNOW how to do this, it's just a matter or working out a plan that keeps us on track and that is personal for everyone. I'm glad you have found yours. Glad your dh is better...sounds like he is just too overwhelmed with it all right now to appreciate it. He will probably like those fudgsicles!

Silver and Jane - I'm not very sensitive about my weight or my age...to me they are just numbers..that is, until I see myself in a mirror! Then reality sets in.. I can think I look so nice in some outfit but then I see myself in a mirror somewhere and think oh, my gosh, that tummy is sticking out so much and I feel so ugly! I joined the Prism Weightloss program several years ago (when I lost 33 lbs but later gained it back) and one of the things that was cool about it was I learned to have a better body image. I used to hate my built but now I know that if I just get down to the right weight I will actually like it. I am not a curvy girl..I have a rather straight boyish figure but now I actually kinda like that. It's just that I have abused food and made my middle get too big. That program actually taught me lots of other good things too...not sure I could ever keep to the rules again, as you have to give up (temporarily) certain foods (starches, desserts) but it did teach me a lot that I still apply today like eating whole grains and decreasing simple sugars in my diet. It taught me to read labels much more carefully. At the time I gave away all my white refined sugar and corn syrup and to this day I don't have any refined sugar in my house except brown sugar which my dh uses on his oatmeal (and I do too occasionally) and sometimes at Christmas I buy a little powdered sugar for making goodies for the kids if we get together. So that's another example of diet fusion I guess. I haven't yet eliminated all simple sugar from my diet though as I occasionally have a bit of chocolate or a child's size scoop of ice cream. I want my diet to work for me as I intend to stick to it the rest of my life and for me I know that totally eliminating these things will not work. At least that's the way I feel now. Maybe some day I will have the desire and strength to give it all up.

Coralee - Did you do the hypnotizing yourself? What type of clients did you have...some kind of therapy? Perhaps you can help me understand. How can I know that I am reaching the hypnotic state?

Speaking of hynosis, I need to listen to my tape. Talk later...

Good Morning, all!

Am feeling more rested this morning. I was purposely quieter yesterday and that helped.

My food and exercise plan is helping. Down another 1/2 pound today. Am enjoying being active in a couple of the challenge threads on the forum and that helps, too.

It's so nice to be eating more healthfully and finding what works for me, and what doesn't. It's grand to feel better. Hooray for the good days!

Tari, welcome! Hope you're finding your way around 3fc. Nice to have you here!

Am off to the morning chores and exercise. Will check in later.

Wishing you all a happy morning start!

Good morning, I have been gone way too long! I took a vacation with my daughter and grand daughter a few weeks ago, and before that was busy with haying, cultivating, etc. No weight loss to report but I have been doing well with my walking buddies. Although we didn't walk this am, I think one friend, who was the mother of the bride on Sat and the other who was the hostess for the wedding we wore out, so I opted to sleep in a bit. now I need to head to the farm and do time cards and then get some cleaning done in the office before I haul straw and then rake hay. Next week will be a busy one as our grand daughter is showing a steer at the fair.
I am trying to catch up and see there are some new people here, that is good.
Have a great day all, and I will catch up a bit then head to work.

Hi ladies,

Tari - to our little slice of 3FC! You came to the right place! We will give you encouragement, friendship, and support.

Mary - "back to normal in the romance department" is indeed a very good sign, lol. Like you, I try to not eat much refined sugar, and after 6 months of this, I don't crave it very often at all. When I see others eating it, or see sugary products at the store, the first thing that pops into my head is how yucky I used to feel after eating stuff like that. Yes, I do know what you mean about slanted floors!

Silver - YAY for 1/2 pound more down!! I'm glad you've got a plan for food and exercise. I don't think I'd make it very far on this weight loss journey w/o my food plan in place every day.

Pam - there you are!! Yes, missy, you have been gone too long, lol. Did you have fun on your vacation with your DD and DGD? Last week was our week of the county fair. It was so hot and muggy and muddy that we skipped it this year. Good luck to your DGD showing the steer!

Doris, Carol, all others, we miss you!!

Well, the viewing is over for Sharon, and the funeral is tomorrow. I didn't get as much accomplished today as I had thought I would, but did get some phone calls and paper work taken care of. I need a secretary, lol.

Do any of you buy Clean Eating magazine? I subscribe to it, and love it! The brand new issue for Sept/Oct has an article in it (pg 18) that I was very interested in sharing with you all. It says they have clinical studies results that shows diets very low in carbs bring about depression, due to the low amounts of serotonin associated with that kind of diet. Also in this issue is a recipe for healthy Whole Grain Zucchini Apple bread (pg 21) that I'm going to try. I'll let you know how it is.

Ciao, bellas!

Good Morning, everyone! Had a bit of a splurge day yesterday, and did about half of the exercise I'd been putting in each day for the last few weeks. Splurge was nice. No food off-plan, just too much. Slept quite soundly, too.

Today is back to little-old-lady amounts of food, and am rethinking the exercise pace. I have felt like I was pushing myself as one would have at those lose-weight resorts that were so popular among the very well-to-do when I was young. (I visited someone at one of those resorts once. Very posh.) Don't know if those are still around or not. I've been giving myself my own summer fitness camp. It's nice to have the choice.

Am off to water the plants and watch the sunrise.

Hope you all have a day filled with beauty and loveliness.
