Good Morning girls! I'm going to make DH some Irish Soda bread to go with our Ham/bean soup tonight. Now if only I can eat only 1 piece, we'll see. He's not Irish but we can still enjoy some Irish bread. Below is your laugh for the day!

Freda, our little Zoe also writes! I think this is a very talented group!
Status quo here. After a dreary yesterday morning, it turned glorious... chilly, but beautiful! I think we might be thinking air conditioner today! I'm eager for Spring, dreading Summer!
Donna, I know Z is a writter. that is why her posts are always so interesting. I didn't know that Linda was. Yes we do have some really talented people here. and then, we have me! ha

The last person who insisted to me that he had no talent for writing, now has a self-published book out! So... you never know. As far as I can tell, if you have a good command of the language (which you do) and patience... meaning you don't give up but keep on writing through to the end... you can write a book sized manuscript.
Bobbi, you asked what kind of chair I use ... well, it is nothing special. Just an ordinary (inexpensive) office chair I bought from Target.Com because someone gave me a gift card. Sorry to say it is the best chair in my house. All the others are plastic lawn chairs. I live sort of simply, you could say, in a remote mountain cabin type house... and a few years back I threw out all the wood kitchen chairs and the living room furniture. It is hard to get more furniture as nobody delivers it this far out in the woods, so far as I know, and I don't have a truck.
Well, off to workland... must go do some gardening.
Hi everyone..another sunny day here..i am getting ready for tomorrow..i have to be in anchorage by 8 am so we must leave my house no later than 4 am..its going to be a long day..thankyou all for the great support..if you want to read up on what i hope to accomplish go to the Alaska Bariatric Center..i will check in on thursday..(((hugs))) rosey
Rosey! Good luck tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you!
Today, Dear Hearts, was most challenging for yours truly. I got almost all the way to work, only to find the access road to our office park underwater, and a police car sitting across the road with blinkers blinking to warn us away. There were no suggested detour routes, and having just moved to these offices in January, I'm completely unfamiliar with the area except for the way I get to work every day. I was in contact back and forth with one of my colleagues who has a GPS system, but all the alternate routes it suggested were also flooded. Pretty amazing. We finally got there after about an hour and a half of driving up on one dead end after another. The flooding is pretty bad around Boston and along the coast to north and south. Then, at work, things were busy and annoying and it looks like I will be embroiled in meetings for most of the week, and I think you know my feelings about meetings. I think we have some meetings for the sole purpose of discussing when we should next meet and what we should discuss at some later meeting. NOT optimum for getting day-to-day projects completed, trust me.

Last week I stirred cooked butternut squash into some Sugar Free vanilla pudding and added Stevia and Pumpkin pie spice, yummy!
That DOES sound yummy, Bobbi! I think I'm going to have to try it myself! Okay, I'm getting myself messed up here with colors and quotes and such. I'm going to stop trying to do that. Grrrr.
Freda, luckily, I have managed to get through this winter in a fairly healthy manner. I know I took some sick days but I can't remember if I was actually sick or just in need of a "mental health day". With me, you never can tell.
Oh, I miss Isabella!!!!! I hope she gets back online soon! Linda, I wish I had the courage to live simply and rid myself of all my "stuff". I have to admit that I just love beautiful things and like to surround myself with them. Of course nothing is more beautiful than nature, and you have surrounded yourself with that. I suspect that once I am able to retire, I'll want less stuff to be bothered with. Truth is, I already do want less, and I've stopped for the time being with all the decorating. Well, sort of stopped. I am redoing the guest bedroom, but nothing too drastic. Oh, blah. I haven't stopped after all. I want to though. I'd like to live in a yurt with some nice oriental rugs on the floor. But I'd need to be someplace warmer and drier than here. And I'd need my own bathroom, separate from DH's. I'm just one big bundle of "needs". But the truth is that I'm never happier than I am on our annual pilgrimages up to the White Mountains where we live in the rough for a long 4-day weekend and solve the world's problems sitting around the campfire with our cronies. But I'm always happy to get back to my bubble bath, too.
Well, Karen, you can just climb back up on the wagon with the rest of us and shape up for summer now that you're feeling better. Welcome back aboard!
So, PT, did you find any low cal Chinese food or what? If you do, be sure and let me know - I'll drive out to Denver to get some with you. Lynn, I sure hope you're feeling better for your Florida trip. Nothing puts a dent in a vacation any more than not feeling up to par. Get plenty of rest beforehand and make sure everything is organized and packed well ahead of time so that you're not running around trying to do it at the last minute. AND, I hear that it's warmed up down there, now, so you should be hitting some great weather. Have fun!
Okay, have a good night, y'all...see you tomorrow!

The first rose of the season is sitting on my desk. I was able to convince my DD (my housemate) that the sun is a good thing. We walked to the river and then around the block. This was the 8 dog - barking at me walk. I have several walking circuits, this is the noisiest.
Rosie I hope the outcome of the visit in Anchorage is what you desire. to the two writers, ex professional reader here, I was a librarian in a former life. What do you write?
Hope you all are having a grand evening.

Getting ready for FL trip. Doing PT every day this week in preparation. At least now I know what exercise/treatment to do while I am away. Heat before bike - ice after bike. Bike - NOt treadmill.
Went back to eye doctor to pick up revised glasses - still NG. I got my money back & will go to my regular eyeglass place when I get home from FL.
Took cats to Vet yesterday. They got checkup and rabies shots. Little one got sick. She seems better today - thank goodness. Would hate to leave her home sick.
Going to my DD's tonight for St. Patrick's Day dinner. My sister arrives tomorrow night & we leave on Friday morning. I will have my laptop with me, so will check in while I'm away.
I start teaching on Tuesday. Online instruction is GREAT!
Golden Girls - hop on the Memorial Day Challenge -
NEW CHALLENGE - come join us!
WHO - The over 50 gang.
WHAT - Whatever we each think will help us lose or maintain our weight. For me, I will list my weigt, calories and exercise minutes each day. My goal will be to get to 145 lbs by May 31.
WHERE - Up in the sticky area.
WHEN - Begins tomorrow (March 18) ends Memorial Day (in US) (May 31)
WHY - We all need accountability and a target to aim for. Unless we know where we are going, it is unlikely we will get there.
Happy St. Patties Day! Thanks for starting a new challenge Lynn...that is the only way I can maintain, accountability is the key here. Otherwise I ease right back up the scales again. Posting my weight is my biggest incentive, calories are right up there too. We have to take 'Charlie' in for his annual shots today too, he likes going to the Vets It's going to get up in the 50's and 60's today, I think I'll hang another load of laundry out. Two days ago I washed some bedding and a quilt and it dried when only in the 45's. I can only use 1/3 of my clothes lines, the other 2/3 is still over heavy snow banks. Zoe...It would have been scary had you tried to travel thru the flooded road and get stalled. Nightmare! At least you had a good excuse for being late for work! As to the pudding, it's even better using canned pumpkin pie filling. We had so many winter squash and it was a great way to use it up. Try the canned pumpkin, it's even better. Hi Karen...yeah, jump right back in. Please join us on the new challege and the weight will just melt off you. Get back on your shakes only for lunch, I think that's how you lost so well before. Freda...I pour a tablespoon of cider vinegar into a little cup and decide to down it all at once. Geeeeezzz, I thought I was going to barf. I think I'll save it some salads! Jess...I'm eager for Spring, loving the summer. Our house is surrounded by trees and last summer we only had the air condition on one day. Move to Minnesota! You'd love the winters!

Linda...that cracks me up, you really tossed out all your furniture? I love the idea of a remote cabin but I'd have to have it looking like a Homes and Garden magazine. What do you do up there?

Chic...You're lucky you have a good walking area. I envy you, dogs or not. We live in the country on a gravel road and it's so hard on my bad feet to walk on that.

Hi everyone I missed, hope your day will be sunny!
Good Morning, All...
Bobbi, I have friends and relatives in MN, and I always thought it would be the perfect place for me, except... Unfortunately, I don't care for fish, which seems to be a huge staple there, and my hands have really suffered with the cold this year. It's moderate here, so I'm probably better off just wearing gloves a lot in the winter!
PT, I'll drive 1/2 way and meet you for Chinese! No need for you to do all the driving! I'd love to meet you in person!
Rosey, good thoughts! Lynn, sorry about the glasses! Be a pain in their rear, and they'll eventually get it right for you. It's impossible to get anything done right the first time nowadays; everything has to be done at least twice and often more than that! Enjoy FL!
Status quo here, no complaints! Warm and safe, everyone!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!! It is kind of a gray yucky day here today. Makes me want to curl up under the afghan. I've got laundry going--- how come we never get done with our jobs!! My Mom used to say that "Some people are so lucky they get to get up and GO TO work everyday---I just wake up in the middle of mine everyday!" So true!!
I did join the challenge and hopefully it will work for me. I'm hoping to stick with it and see this weight come off AGAIN!! I have checked with the guy who did our pool about making it a salt water pool......been doing some reading on it and it's supposed to be better than using the chlorine. Just not convinced about it yet. I want to redo the concrete around the pool and that is going to be about $3500. It is cracked in several places and has sunk after these many years. Our house is probably about 50 years old. Don't think that I really want to spend another $2000 to have it converted to salt. Anybody have any dealings with a salt water pool? I am sure that I will have to make a choice of either/or.
Rosy, good thoughts going out to you this morning.
Welcome Coralee! Looking forward to getting to know you.
Lynn, enjoy your trip. I'll watch for pictures.
Zoe, I can remember those big rains that used to happen when I lived back there in Peabody! Very scary to drive on roads that are covered in water. Glad that you are OK.
Donna, is it still snowing out there? I know one year when we were living out there we were trying to get ready for vacation on May 16---when we ended up getting 16 inches of snow!! That is why I moved to Missouri! LOL!!
Well, guess I'd better get busy here. The dryer will be calling me shortly. I'll try to catch up with everyone soon.
