Hi everyone. I'm analyzing what doesn't work about this diet. I think I need to drink a lot more water. I've also got the hypothyroid problem and don't take meds for it. I need to remember to take iodine every day, for that.

We've got a beautiful sunny day here after several rainy/snowy cold ones. The weather here can't make up its mind. I'd opt for more early spring if I could make the choice.

I have a lot of writing to do today (I make money with online content writing) and a novel to do a first read-through on. I need to get that done by the end of this week as I've set a series of self-imposed deadlines so I can get it done and out the door by Sept. 15.

Bobbi, sorry to hear about your cooking-related injury!! I hope you recover soon. The last thing we need is more aches and pains...

Good Morning Girls! My back is a tad better, only hurts when I get up out of a chair. The ice helped. Below is an article on vinegar, I can't see myself drinking 1-2 Tablespoons daily but maybe diluted in my noon soup? I'll try, it might upset my stomach with so much acid. Lots to do again today so best get at it, have a good one.

Choose This Fat-Burning Condiment

It's perfect on potatoes, very good on veggies, and divine in salad dressings. And the best news yet? It may help with fat burning. The magic condiment in question: vinegar.
Obese people who took in 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily in a study melted significantly more body fat and belly fat than a group taking a placebo -- despite being on the same diet and exercise plan.
A Sour Path to Skinny
Vinegar may offer a weight loss boost thanks to acetic acid. Seems this sour stuff does double-duty fat-blasting, inhibiting the body's ability to store fat while boosting its ability to burn it. And even though apple cider vinegar was the type used in the recent study, researchers suspect most varieties of the liquid seasoning could have the same get-skinny effects. (Find out what the YOU Docs think about vinegar and weight loss.)
Other Tart Benefits
Vinegar also seemed to help lower bad-for-the-heart triglyceride levels and systolic blood pressure at the end of the 12-week study. That's a Sherpa's load of health benefits for one little flavor maker. So get your daily dose of vinegar with one of these tart-tasting, waist-whittling RealAge recipes:

Good Morning, All...
Bobbi, I can't remember if you said you found the bit of lemon in water to be too acidic; if so, then the vinegar will definitely be too much. However, you can get vinegar tablets (sounds gross!) which wouldn't be acidic, supposedly. I do like those recipes!

Did everyone have a lovely weekend? Rosey, are you nervous/excited? Good thoughts!

Nothing new. I'm finally making progress! Icky weather today, so I'm craving Chinese (CRAVING it!). I won't, but I'd sure like it! My brain is not being reasonable when I say "soon, soon...."

Warm and safe, everyone! Yo, PT!

Bobbi, I put my vinegar in some gin and vermouth and add a couple of big olives for nutritive value...maybe that's my problem.

Thanks for that organics list. It really helped me with my choices at the market yesterday. There were some organic asparagus for $4/bunch, but the fresh local not-so-organic asparagus were much cheaper than that, so I picked up a couple bundles.

Tonight we're going Indian with Aloo Gobi and Saag Aloo (cauliflower and spinach dishes). Usually the dishes include potatoes, but I thought I'd try it with sweet potatoes instead, and coconut milk instead of yogurt, since I'm staying off dairy.

I thought wrist was doing better, until I decided I needed to carry a big bag of books this morning. Back in the brace for the rest of the week!

HI Everyone,

Philadelphia was great. Knee is hurting (went to PT today & got some exercises) - I have some kind of intestinal bug.

Leave for FL on Friday.

Hallllllooooooo, everybody.....we're in the midst, here, of some serious monsoons. Flooding all over the place, roads closed, people having to evacuate their homes...the worst of it is mostly closer to the coast, and I had to drive through about 8" of water getting out of the parking lot at work. It got better as I drove west, and at home the rain is coming down fast and furiously, but where we live isn't flooded out, thank goodness. Ooops. DH just informed me that it's SNOWING, out now. This is ridiculous. I guess it's too warm and wet for the snow to stick, though. At least I hope that's the case.
Ack!!!
Still plodding along with Wendie, doing okay, may consider weighing myself this coming weekend. I splurged some on my high calorie day (yep, had corn bread right out of the oven...yummmmm) but kept to my calorie allowances all week and ate a little more than I should have on the weekend - like maybe a couple of hundred calories more than I should've. Oh, well.
When I was in high school, I had a job in the kitchen of the local hospital (my mother was a nurse there). The dietician was this slim and elegant older woman (probably in her forties; that seemed like an "older woman" to me, then. Shows how much I knew, eh?) and I remember asking her about her diet. She swore by apple cider vinegar - drank it in a glass of water twice or three times a day. She added sweet n' low or whatever the artificial sweetener was back then, and she said it wasn't any different from drinking lemonade when you sweetened it. I guess it worked, because she stayed slim for all the time I knew her.
I've got veggies roasting for supper seasoned with balsamic dressing. I'll add shrimp (Presently marinating in the rest of the balsamic) for the last ten minutes or so. Having it over brown rice. I'm starving. It was a long day, with an abominable drive both to and from work.
Hi PT...Omigawd. I LOVE Chinese food! It's one of my downfalls! I used to get egg foo yung with pork...couldn't get enough of it, especially while I was on Atkins all that time. Now, of course, I've developed an allergy to eggs, which is sooo annoying, considering how much I always loved quiche, egg salad, scrambled eggs, egg foo yung (of course) and just about any kind of omelet anybody cared to make. Guess I overdid it when I was eating so many of 'em. But wait....boneless spare ribs, pu pu platters, egg rolls, spring rolls......yikes!
Oh, and I love Middle Eastern foods..hummus, taboule, falafel, shish kabob....and Italian food...and OH, OKAY. I just LOVE food, period.
Have a good night, y'all !!!! Stay dry!!!!

I'm stuffed from pork loin chops and squash. We had 3 Butternut squash left from last summer's garden that I baked this afternoon. I think this is the longest we've kept them, they stay cool out in our breezeway in the winter and preserves them. Last week I stirred cooked butternut squash into some Sugar Free vanilla pudding and added Stevia and Pumpkin pie spice, yummy!
Zoe...I think I'll try that and see if it agrees with me. I'm not worried about the taste, all food and drink is good, but how it deals with my tummy.

Linda...you have a lot of computer time with writing novels, It makes my back ache just thinking about it. What kind of chair do you use? One of the gals posted her use of a round ball chair, she said it was great sitting on and helped with her tummy muscles.

Jess...I get strange side aches if I have too much acid in my tummy? Weird. If I knew I'd get the same benefits, I'd order some pills.

Good one Georgia, HaHa. Red Wine gets me into trouble so I quit drinking it a couple of years ago.

Rosey (or anyone)...
you gave out a site a while back that lists restaurants and their offerings/nutritional values. I THOUGHT I saved it; however..... maybe it had to do with the Wendie chart? Anyway, if anyone remembers, I'd appreciate getting it again... and I'll hold onto it this time! Thanks!

Thanks, Lynn.... and I forgot how to highlight your information. I like those little blue boxes, and I figured it out once... it's gone now! Maybe that went with the original site address, eh?

It was fun reading all your dinner menus. I just had delicious leek-potato soup. I wish leeks were sold locally. They'll definitely be on my out-of-town shopping list from now on. I'm finishing up with half a cup of applesauce.

I took a walk to Little Grider Creek and back between sunset and nightfall. Because we live in a deep valley, we have plenty of time without sunlight at the end of the day... a perfect time for walking! Today was hot and sunny! So strange that only a couple days ago we were caught in a blizzard on the Klamath River Highway!

Lynn, get well soon!!

Bobbi... I will admit it. Earlier today when I saw what you posted about apple cider vinegar I remembered I'd bought a fresh supply recently, and went out to the fridge to put two tablespoons in a cup. Then... I drank it straight! What was I thinking? It was a shocking experience and I don't think my throat has recovered yet.

Oh, I know what I was thinking... that I liked the taste of vinegar and that getting it all down at one time would be the easiest way to do it. LOL

Don't try that at home!

Anyhow, thanks for the information... I will start taking it regularly... diluted in water.

Good Morning Golden Girls,

It's raining out and my head is stopped up. Took a sinus pill and now i'm a little groggy. CAn't win for losing. Hope the day gets better.

Bobbi, I've read about the vinegar before. I do know it's good for lots of things. I'll try it again. Can't hurt, right? I think i'll put it in a tall glass of water and add some sweetner too. Not sure I can take it "straight". I do still clean my floors with it. I started when the grands were little and I didn't want them crawling around on a floor cleaned with chemicals.

Linda, You are a writer? How interesting! I'm a reader! together we make a great pair. I decided long ago that I had no talent but that I appreciated it in the ones that had it.

Isabella, how are you doing, going computer withdrawal cold turnkey?

Rosey, I understand the mixed feelings. I know you must be getting anxious. I will be thinking about you tomorrow. I know things will go well for you.

Lynn, Oh no! Tell that stomach flu that you don't have time right now! Feel better.

Z, stay warm and dry. We're getting such strange weather this year. Never know what to expect. And I love food too. I guess that is why most of us are here! I love chinese, middle eastern, Indian...and of course American. It's all good!

Georgia, Sorry your wrist isn't up to par yet. It is very annoying not to be able to do things you want to do. Try to be patient. I know, not easy to do. Hang in there!

Donna, Dottie's has lots of good information. Hope you get the information you want.

Everyone, make it a good day,

Freda

Good morning, I finally weighed again on Saturday but forgot to update my ticker.. I guess a 2 pound gain wasn't THAT bad for being sick for the month and doing nothing but grabbing food--- what ever sounded good. BUT NOW BACK TO THE PLAN!!! I need to get those 2 off and lots more. Just had to post to keep me honest!!

Everyone have a great day!!
