Hello, gals. Just popping in early this morning. I'm still on the tiny notebook. My computer was delayed due to weather. What weather??? Hoping it will be here today. It's been on the Island since Friday and as far as I know the weather has been good.

Donna, love that picture of you and your mom. We have several similar pics of mom and my sister attending different functions together and a few of mom and me when she lived with us. She wasn't always able to go places when she was with me because of her age.

Georgia, I hear you on the plans. I guess the best one can do is make the plans and see what happens.

Rosey, good job with the exercises. They won't hurt so badly in a few more days unless your DH decides you need a more strenuous workout.

It's been cold and sunny here. Last night I was feeling quite a draft and complained to DH that I was really feeling chilly and cold (which is not a normal feeling in this wood heated house). He said he was feeling a draft also. So I got off my perch and started looking around the house. Seems as if someone left the patio door opened when calling someone to supper. It had been opened for at least 2 hours before we even felt the cold. DH keeps the furnace on the "hot as ****" setting and it took that long for the house to cool down to normal. Anyhoo, as I was saying, it's been cold here the last few days. The days have warmed up some but the wind is a North Easterly and even in summer that brings a cold blast of air. The ice on the bay is just about gone and it's great to see the water again. Just yesterday another large amount melted even with the cold wind blowing. Now if the snow would go as fast. We were at DS's place yesterday an hour's drive East of us and they have twice or maybe 3 times the snow left that we do. And it was so much colder there, too. They live farther inland then we do and it makes a difference (colder in winter, warmer in summer).

Not much planned for today other than wait around for the computer to be delivered. DH has the day off too, and we can't traipse around. I told him I was going to tear the wall paper off the kitchen and have it painted. He looked somewhat horrified at the suggestion as the drywall behind the wallpaper is a mess and needs to be replastered or replaced. He told me the paper looks great. Hahaha, no it doesn't. I just don't know what color to paint as the counter top matches nothing and it's fairly new. Don't know what I was thinking when we picked that out. Maybe I can talk someone into a new counter top as well. Well, I can at least think about it.

Must go get breakfast and throw a few things in the washer. Have a good Monday and get back on track after the weekend.

Good Morning! Not much going on here today-- Still puppy sitting....I want to get going this morning and get my exercise in before I get busy doing something else.

Donna, love the picture of you and your Mom. You can sure see the family there. Is it warming up out there?

We do have plans this evening to go to my sisters for a birthday dinner for her hubby and their grand-daughter. And to meet the new grandson! He is a month old now but we have never got over to see him since we were both sick with that nasty bug for so long. So that should be fun.

Well, better go and grab some breakfast and get busy. Puppy is beng to quiet!!

Two recipes I found on Allrecipe.com site. 1st one is for perfect boiled eggs.

Quote:

Yield 8 eggs
Ingredients
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
6 cups water
8 eggs
Directions
1.Combine the salt, vinegar, and water in a large pot, and bring to a boil over high heat. Add the eggs one at a time, being careful not to crack them. Reduce the heat to a gentle boil, and cook for 14 minutes.
2.Once the eggs have cooked, remove them from the hot water, and place into a container of ice water or cold, running water. Cool completely, about 15 minutes. Store in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

Special Deviled Eggs
"Horseradish sauce and sweet relish sets these deviled eggs apart from the rest!" Rate/Review | Read
6 eggs
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
paprika, for garnish
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1.Place eggs in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and cut lengthwise.
2.Remove yolks from eggs. In a medium bowl, mash the yolks and mix together with mayonnaise, onion, sweet pickle relish, horseradish and mustard.
3.With a fork or pastry bag, fill the egg halves with the yolk mixture. Garnish with paprika, salt and pepper. Chill until serving.

Good Morning!
Our Easter dinner was cancelled due to DD's bout of sickness, chills, sniffles, etc. My dining room table is still set, the twice baked mashed potatoes I threw in the freezer, the ham will keep (hadn't baked it yet) and we ate the fruit salad with all the expensive fruit in it. My grandsons are going to the Bahamas on Wednesday with their dad and DD and new husband are going to his parents for Easter way up in Northern Minnesota. DD's birthday is April 9th so we'll celebrate Easter and her birthday then. Bummer! I made little Easter baskets with goodies in them for the boys, tell me to keep my sneaky fingers out of them.
Donna...nice pic of you and mom, good to treasure those photos. I wish I'd taken more of mom before she passed on. Unfortunately I'm the picture taker of the family and never on many photos. I'm making DH some Applesauce cookies this morning, we still have tons of frozen applesauce from last summers trees and I need ways of using it up before our new crops this fall.
You all have a great start to Monday, keep OP girls.

Good Morning, All...

Thanks... I think my mom looks pretty good for 87, yes?

Bobbi, so sorry your Easter plans were canceled... and especially after all that work!

Rosey, sounds like you're sticking with the DH regimen! Good for you! Are you feeling better yet? I'll be it makes DH feel pretty good that you asked him for help, too!

Nothing going on here. Karen, it's supposed to be gorgeous this week, maybe even into the high 60's, low 70's... but the snow season isn't over yet, as you know All is well. PT, yo!

Warm and safe, everyone!

Ooof! Mondays! We are dragging at my house. Coffee not working yet. Must...start...home...school......want to go back to bed...

The problems is that I cheated on myself this morning. Woke up full of energy, well rested. Took oldest son to high school. Stopped at McDonald's to feed my craving for a sausage McMuffin and hash browns, and there's soy in that, and now I'm paying the price for it. Hope I've learned my lesson. NO MORE McDONALD'S!!!!

Must drink lots of water to clean out my system. I know I'll feel better in a couple hours.

Tomorrow I start at my new Pilates class. Beginner class to teach the basics, twice a week, while my youngest is at taekwondo. Looking forward to it!

Have a lovely day, my dears...

SO swamped at work; raining like crazy here, more flooding predicted; am still eating OP, feel lighter, but who knows.... crazy-busy weekend, twinnie's "official" birthday party Saturday with a cast of thousands, did a lot of around-the-house cleaning and organizing and such yesterday, stayed up later than we should've, tired this morning and had a grueling drive into work with all the "can't drive in the rain" commuters. Can only imagine what it'll be like going home. Looking forward to some sun...sometime. Hopefully we won't have yet another rainy summer, but we're off to one heck of a start, aren't we?
Yo back atcha, PT. Nice pic. Nope, that woman doesn't look 87. Wow. Good genes, huh?
Gotta run,

Z

Hi Everyone,

Please forgive me for dropping out. I am back from FL - we had a good time. My knee is getting better. I think it actually improved with no exercise. For the time being, I am going to stay away from the gym.

I'm teaching from now through the first week in April.

I will try to drop by, but between getting ready for Italy and teaching, it probably will not be often.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy,

Lynn

Good Morning!
Sunny day here with 70's predicted, too bad we have high wind warnings. My bird feeders are swinging violently, hubby says it's too windy to haul rocks.
I have to get back to counting calories today, made some applesauce cookies yesterday to help rid my freezer of applesauce. Ate a few and didn't count calories all day, I'm up this morning of course.
Lynn...I'm glad your knee is better but we miss you.
I'm busy posting DH's many hunting 'stuff' on ebay and had some bids already. I'm going to list more this afternoon and get around to bringing in last summer's carrots. We had them in clean sand in the breezeway all winter and they kept very well. With the warm weather coming I need to bring them in and eat/cook/freeze them.
Lots to do, so little time. Have a good one!

Good Morning, All....
Lynn, glad you had fun! Maybe that knee needs to rest for a while; maybe the exercise just aggravated it. You have to be in fine fettle for your foray! Getting excited?

PT, too bad you can't work from home. That daily drive sounds wearing! I'm always so impressed that people don't whip out guns and blast away!

In the 70s today, can you believe it??? Spring has sprung! I'm washing and will hang the clothes outside to dry for the first time this year... a sure sign of spring!

All is well here. No complaints! Rosey, I'm proud of you! Warm and safe, everyone!

Well, it's not warm here! We've got wind and light, cold rain. DH and I walked this morning in the wind but fortunately the rain didn't start until just around lunch time so we were spared a wet walk. Our wood furnace is on blast and I don't even mind today.

Good news. I'm typing on my new Dell laptop. It came yesterday afternoon around 3:15 pm. I don't have all my programs and stuff put on yet but I have internet. DS will guide me through over the phone. I did do some last night but was too tired to do much. By the time the computer warmed up to room temperature and we had a look at the thing and downloaded a few things it was getting late so I put it aside until this evening when DS will be home from work.

Glad you had a good time in Florida, Lynn. You're wise to rest that knee for the big vacation in Italy.

I'm still hungry. Think I'll go eat more food. Catch you later.

Hi Gals,

It's me. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things again and lose some pounds. It's nice enough to walk outside again so I have been doing that and I have been using my Wii Fitness too. I always struggle with motivation! Grrrr.......

Good afternoon all,

The sun is shining, and it's pretty warm out too. It's supposed to be 72 tomorrow. that will feel wonderful! warm enough today that I haven't exercised yet. The kids are coming over this afternoon and we'll be bike riding and playing. I'll get enough exercise having fun with them. I've had a cold since Friday. Nothing horrible, just a lousey cold that makes you feel terrible but not past going. I worked the weekend and yesterday I just lay around all day. Feeling much better today.

Cindy Gail, Don't rely on motovation to diet and exercise. Plan for it. Write down what you are going to eat, and when you're going to exericse. Motovation comes and goes.

Lynn, Good to hear from you. I'm glad you had fun in Florida. Maybe that knee needed rest for awhile.

Donna, Your mother is beautiful, for any age. You have good genes. I hang clothes on the line outside too. I think a few of us do, I know Bobbi does. I love the smell of fresh sheets dried outside. My favorite scent.

Z, have fun at that Birthday party. My brothers twins are having their first birthday Saturday also. Alas, I won't get to attend, it's in Va.

Georgia, Staw away from MickeyD!!! he is EVIL!! how did the class go? Always say i'm going to try one. It's on my to-do list.

Karen, I bet your doggies will be glad to see the puppy go! Too much energy for an older dog. I can just see them giving him the evil eye!

Bobbi, I make boiled eggs the Martha Stewart way. I put the eggs in a pan of cold water and bring to a full boil. cover and turn off the heat and let sit for 15 min. Perfect eggs

Freda

Isabella, Yeah! new computer! did you get vista or windows?

I have Windows 7.

I'm trying to do my income tax and I'm missing a receipt. Waiting for it to come. Blahhh. I don't like filing out forms.
