Love seeing the data up there like that!

As usual my weekend was not as under control as my week was, but I think I made a few improvements nonetheless. Rather than let one bad choice spiral out of control I refocused myself, a few times. Looking forward to a strong week! The weather's starting to cool down a little so I am hoping to get in some outdoor activity for a change.

How's week one treating everyone else?

Week One's going pretty well! I arrived somewhere early yesterday and took a brief walk instead of flopping down in a chair with a book--I was proud of that. (Even if it meant I was *slightly* sweatier than I had intended to be for my appointment, lol.)

Welcome to all the new people

Dancer1120 - sure you can join. New people can join though the week 2 deadline (9/8). Just add your name to the spreadsheet and post your current weight as baseline (or a guestimation of what you weighed last Thursday).

link to spreadsheet

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...hl=en_US#gid=0

welcome.

Also I'm glad everyone liked the chart. I'll re-alphatize the spreadsheet and clean it up later. I haven't slept in 2 days worrying about this stupid hurricane. Luckily it ended up barely hitting us.

This is EXACTLY what the first challenge ended up doing for me and why I liked it so much. If I had a tough weekend, I would get it together on monday to try and do what I could for my Thursday weigh in, rather than keep my slump going. I ended up having something like 5 "gaining" weeks but lost 17 pounds over the whole challenge. It just kept my mini-slip ups from snowballing.

I'm loosely following South Beach. I eat mostly SB friendly foods but don't rip my hair out if I'm served an "illegal" dinner. I can't count calories because that drives me insane. I just stop eating before bed time, keep my portions as small as possible and try to only eat when hungry.

I also avoid trigger foods like the plague. If I've never been able to eat a food in moderation, I don't touch it. I can eat chicken, enjoy it, put the leftovers in the fridge and not give them a second thought. I can't do that with cake and pizza. I recognize that I have food issues and will always have them (even when I lose the weight). Some foods drive me crazy and I need to manage that.

I've been doing the C25k running plan. I completed 3 5K races and currently can run (or lightly jog) 2 miles at once.

I have PCOS and staying away from the simple carbs and sugars helps normalize my hormones. The cardio also helps.

Like Scarlett, I've also been trying to eat healthy foods and going for small portions, but not calorie counting. I might be able to do that now, but I want to find a method that I can maintain during the school year. My college cafeteria doesn't provide the calorie count in their miscellaneous foodstuffs. I've also been exercising on the stationary bike at least a half-hour everyday.

I have joined a gym, and have been watching what I eat. I am trying to stay under 1400 calories a day, but I am not really counting calories.. I am staying away from sodas (my biggest problem) and sweets.
