I'm happy for your "whoosh", sophie! Yay! I stick to water/powerade-type drinks when hungover, though. I tried orange juice once and.. well, it didn't work out so well. :P

I'm still at 219, same as Friday.. happy to maintain over the weekend, though, since today's the beginning of TOM week. Looking forward to my OWN "whoosh" for next Monday.

Well, better then I expected. It's TOM for me and I was off track all weekend due to not planning and some emotional stressors in life, so I weighed once on Saturday and it was 178 (YIKES) but I think that is because it was when TOM started. So didn't weigh until this morning and honestly expected a gain, so a 1 lb loss is better then hoped.
Ahyessophie- Yay on your woosh! Welcome to all the new girls jumping on board. I know this challenge is coming to an end for some girls, so we need to make sure to start a new thread when it does!
pink -way to go on a 2 lb loss AND having TOM! I do like Powerade too, but the past few months I've been "binging" on milk...I suppose it's not a terrible thing to drink lots of haha.
mindy - maintaining is WAY better than gaining, so don't be too down. You're really close to goal so I imagine things will be slower just because of that. Keep goin!
ashleigh - good job on 1 lb lost considering TOM and going off plan and other factors.
Do any of you plan on changing your plans when you start school? Different exercise routines? Changes in diet?
Yay pictures =D I start tomorrow =O Today I am 202, I'm exhausted from standing in line at the book store >.> The line is always out the door in the first week. It's ridiculous.

Well, I'm going to have to be more diligent and aware since my time will be consumed with class, clinical, and ROTC - on top of being a wife and dog-owner (and a sane person). I plan to pack all my food (that worked really well last year). I'll basically be doing doubles on Wednesdays and Fridays thanks to PT with ROTC. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday I have clinicals all day so I'll have to figure out when is best to exercise on those days.
Basically, it's going to be a lot of careful time-management and using exercise as a mode of stress-relief. Stress is inevitable..
For good-time management this busy year starting pharmacy school, working a 12-hour job, WORKING OUT, and having some sort of social life, I plan to use my weekends to catch up on food prep, sleep, everything. I also am trying to get into 20 minutes of meditation three days a week for dealing with stress... I've never been into that type of Eastern medicine techniques but recently struggled with a near breakdown and depression and moodiness last semester and it was recommended to me by my doctor. She said she would have dropped out of med school had she not taken the time to clear her head a few times a week. I read the book on it (The Relaxation Response) and I am pretty excited to try it out and see if it works for me. There is actually plenty of scientific evidence on the benefits of it so we'll see!
I don't have access to a scale till Fri when i get back to school, so my weigh-in will be late. I am also dreading it - I am in mid-PMS (mid-third wk of pills) and feel so HEAVY and gross. I also haven't been able to exercise because of the business of moving home, no gym, seeing both parents, and packing (excuses excuses) so that's probably making me feel even worse.
I'll have to change my routine a little bit once school starts, since I normally get up and go for a run first thing.. and I don't think I could force myself to wake up any earlier on school days My residence is right across the street from our campus' big gym, though.. so once I get the courage to go there, that'll be super convenient.
I'm pretty lucky with how my schedule worked out, I'm only in class 8am-12pm MWF and a lab from 2-6 on Mondays, so with 4 days a week with no class, I should have no excuses that I'm too stressed to exercise. and you guys will need to remind me of this when I start to complain. :P
My mealtimes don't really get disrupted from class, so I shouldn't have to worry too much about that.. other than portion control and not letting myself go to the minimart/vending machines for stress-chocolate.
This sounds bad, but I've basically accepted that my weight loss might not go as well as it has once I get back to school.. but I'm going to make definite efforts to make sure it still continues, albeit slowly.
Pink - we'll be here to kick your *** as soon as you start to complain, but only if you're here to kick ours too!! I know what you mean about expecting a stall. I'm hoping that it'll be slow for the first 2 weeks as we all get back into the routine, and then pick up again once we're in the habit of going to the gym and eating right.
Lisa - I'll have to read up on meditation. I could definitely use something to relax with. For a while, Friday lunchtime yoga was good but my inflexibility made it stress-inducing at times. There are always times when life gets a bit crazy and we put ourselves on the back burner, but you'll be back to your normal regimen in no time. Also, just looked at your stats - congrats on being in the healthy range (according to BMI which is often totally meaningless but STILL), that's amazing! A big goal for me... not too long now!
When school starts, my biggest fear is TIM HORTONS. I know it's in the States but I don't think it's nearly as popular as it is here. We have two within 5 minutes walking distance of each other on campus. I am pretty good at turning down a donut from them now, but bagels there are my go-to lunch when I don't pack anything. I'll just need to be prepared and bring food.
Small NSV - my grandma noticed my weight loss! She is not one to fuss over that stuff or talk about weight, so that made it extra special. I walked in the door today and she said "oh my goodness how much have you lost!" and I was a bit taken aback! I said "Oh did my mum put you up to this? Is she telling everyone?" And she said she had no idea! It is finally nice to have someone other than my mother say something. I know 14 lbs isn't life-altering, but it's definitely a boost. If I reach 20 lbs unnoticed, I might get a bit down. I'll take new pics then to see if I can tell a difference.
WTG SarRawr - is that Sonic poking through? Omg I remembering playing that game on Sega Genesis. Try not to see 201 as a failure - you're still down 14 lbs. I know onederland is very symbolic, but you have still had much success. I plan on celebrating when I'm down 10% - 17 lbs - but really it's a very arbitrary goal. 16 lbs down or 17 lbs down... a pound or two is such a small fraction of what we've all accomplished so far. Hope you had a good first day
Yes, sonic, it was between that and a Gengar shirt =O I'm really nerdy. =( lol, I had fun at school had at least 3 friends in every class and my school close to where I live this semester and all of my teachers are easy as ****.
I've come up with a goal for the end of this challenge! [took me long enough!] Since my BMI is dangerously close to being just overweight, I'm going to do it. 5 pounds to go in 2 weeks.. I'll have to push hard for that, but I think it's the most logical goal that I can really measure.
sophie, Tim Hortons is soooo delicious.. their blueberry bagels are my favourite. I hate to play the devil's advocate, but the ones I love are only 270 calories.. so it wouldn't be a terrible lunch. Very carby, but it wouldn't throw off your entire day or anything....
But really, there are much healthier options you can bring yourself.
