  • I'm down for weekly weigh-ins! I do them anyway, but I like the idea of sharing to keep ourselves motivated!

I managed not to cave into pizza/cookies tonight, too! It was tempting at first, but I thought of much exercise I'd have to to do burn it off (lol, lazy) so I decided against it..and I feel great about it now. Cookies and pizza will still exist when I'm maintaining.. just need a brief hiatus before allowing myself small amounts of them.
  • Quote: I swear alcohol is going to prevent me from getting to goal!
Um... Yes. I swear I'd be at goal already if I could just give up my wine and beer!

I like the weekly weigh-in idea - I always find reasons NOT to weigh in weekly due to excuses (getting my period, had a bad wkend, etc) but I think it's helpful for keeping on track and NOT gaining!
  • Congrats pinksparkles! Some of those foods are just too dangerous...one bite and my mouth is watering and it becomes hard to know when to stop. I'm at work now enjoying my pudding cup (at 100 calories) which is great because a) I can only eat what I brought to work, and b) it is in a controlled portion. Pizza however... is not. Neither is a full box of cookies, haha.

Alrighty so should we set a particular date or just do it at any point in the week?

    Starting next week would be...

    Week 1:
    Week 2:
    Week 3:
    Week 4:
    Week 5:
  • Congrats on the new job AshleighAO! Sounds like a perfect place for building healthy habits.

pinksparkles -- Good job resisting temptation! Also, love the line in your sig. Need to remind myself about that every time I'm tempted to skip a workout!

ahyessophie -- I forgot what brand it is, but Trader Joes has some frozen cheese pizzas in individual sizes for I think 200 calories each. They're pretty good and not too tiny either. I think they come in a pack of 4 or 6.

I'm down with weigh-ins too! How have you guys been tracking your progress? I've been weighing daily and putting the numbers into Excel. I like to see charts with downward trends
  • MMMmm 200 calorie pizza. I don't think we have Trader Joe's here although I've seen the trail mix at WalMart.

An Excel sheet is a good idea... I wish I had done that from the beginning. I mostly keep notes in a notebook and log it online into FitDay.

What do you guys think of weighing in on Mondays? Start of the school week...seems appropriate! Haha.
  • Mondays sound great to me!
  • I hear you on the portion control with pizza and cookies, ahyessophie.. in my worst days, half a pizza would be a serving.. and the other half later in the night. I actually really enjoy 100-calorie snacks, they're just big enough portions of the flavours I crave that makes me feel satisfied. I used to buy them before thinking I was being "healthy".. but I'd eat 2-3 of them. Kind of defeats the purpose!

I wish we had a Trader Joe's here, firefoxy.. those pizzas sound awesome. I was toying with the idea of making my own crust while at school, but.. that sounds like a lot of work. :P

and Mondays work great for me
  • Mondays sound good to me too!!!
  • Okay excellent! So here is our schedule for the next month - seems perfect to start on the first. We can copy and paste it and keep track of our loses over the next month.

    Weigh-ins:

    Aug 1:
    Aug 8:
    Aug 15:
    Aug 22:
    Aug 29:
    Sept 5:
    Total lost:

I'm excited that we'll all weigh in on the same day and be able to get some inspiration from each others' progress at the beginning of every week.

Do any of you have scales that you find to be super reliable (as in, they give you the same reading as your doctor's)? Mine is kinda wonky and I want to buy a new one but only if it's got good reviews.
  • Part of me is super excited for weekly weigh-ins with this group since it's still small and the only group I tend to stick with but the other part of me is dread it as I am not losing and haven't lost in a while
  • No dreading allowed! I bet the support from our little group will get you out of your plateau, AshleighAO!
  • OMG everyone. I'm so glad we're not doing Friday weigh-ins because somehow I magically gained 1.6 pounds in one day. Or that's what my scale said this morning anyway. Ugh.
  • Ahhh no. Screw Fridays. Including tonight, where I apparently ate 700 cals in Delissio pizza and 600 + in drinks. I'm at about 2500 for the day which is by no means awful but still not exactly OP! I'll try and work it off tomorrow.
  • ahyessophie -- You can do it! The weekends are always the hardest, especially when drinks are involved!
  • Yes, and when the pizza is fresh out of the oven and placed RIGHT in front of me. Thanks for the encouragement

Last night I was drinking white rum + mashed watermelon + soda water + a touch of fresh mint. It was sooo good. Refreshing and summery. But my friend said to me "are you drinking it with fruit to be healthy or something?" in a tone that I'm still replaying in my head. Maybe she didn't mean it so much the way it came out but it still made me feel weird. I've only told two people in real life (mum and boyfriend) that I'm working to lose weight, so it's not as if she knew that I'm watching what I eat...but still, why should trying to be healthy be seen as bad?! Maybe I'm reading into this too much.
