Hi All! Welcome wannabenurse!

I've read everyone's posts but have to get going so no personals today. I'm doing okay..... but I haven't been to the gym since Monday's yoga!! It sucks, just been the wrong timing. So I'm going to make the effort to go to a spin class and get my butt kicked hardcore tomorrow!

Tonight we're going to an NBA game and tomorrow an NHL game. Crazy coincidence. Bought one set of tickets a lonnnnnng time ago, and was given the NBA tics recently. I can easily avoid all the junky stuff and overpriced beer that they sell there but we have a good friend's bday tomorrow night where I'll just promise myself to drink vodka/soda's all night to cut down on calories. I know, drinking of any sort is not wise for weightloss, but I'll just have to workout extra hard on Sunday too!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Stay strong, be active, and have fun.

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

I haven't smoked for a week today! Unfortunately, the damn things still smell good to me :-S That will pass within another week or two...I have a lot of experience quitting, lol! This is probably the 15th + time I've quit since I started smoking (7 yrs ago). I'm hoping this attempt will stick now that I don't drink anymore. In the past, I have picked the habit back up after quitting for as long as 4 1/2 months due to a night of partying!

The vegan diet is going well. I am eating a LOT though and it's a major adjustment. All the other times I've dieted, I would restrict my food intake big time in order to make approximately 1200 cals/day. I was always hungry and not so surprisingly I lasted a max of 3 months on such diets.
I'm eating a healthy amount of fruit and veggies now, which run right through you! lol So I find that I'm eating every 2 to 3 hours, which is fine by me! (isn't that good for your metabolism?) Whole grains are what tend to keep me fuller for longer. I'm not counting calories but I am aware of them and serving sizes.

I've worked out to Jillian Micheals' burn fat boost metabolism dvd twice in the last 3 days, and I'm pretty sure that that's all I can manage at the moment. I am SO sore the day after 20 minutes with her. Anybody have similar experiences with her dvds??

WannabeNurse - I get the same way with all of Jillian's DVDs. I've done level 1 of her 30 Day Shred and also the first workout in her Yoga Meltdown. Both left me incredibly sore for a few days. I really like the Yoga Meltdown though because it uses body weight training.

I am trying to do the fatsmash detox, but the no meat is killing me, so I am eating one portion of lean meat a day, no more than 2, and so far..... 3 pounds in 3 days!!!!!! with absolutely no new exercises.. lets just hope I keep losing..

I made chili for supper, chili beans 3 cans, (beef, veal, and pork mix of meat, 1 pound) 1 cup salsa, butternut squash - one cup steamed, green peppers - 1/4 cup diced, onions - 1 small, and black beans-1 can. I only ate one bowl. im figuring it at about 400-500 calories per bowl... a cup and a half... so that would make me at about 1500 calories for the day and not hungry in the least.

I'm two days into my complete re-commitment to my plan, and I'm getting those familiar hunger pangs that come at the start of changing the way I eat (for the better!)

But I've been very good and haven't given in! Am at about 1400 cals for today, and I had a HUGE workout at the gym, so I'm feeling positive!

Hey ladies!
Keep up the good work!
I'm doing not too badly... 137.3 pounds this morning, so glad my weight is finally dropping after my plateau!
Today has been a kind of "day off" in a way...as well as taking things a bit more seriously, I've also decided to enjoy things a bit more - kind of a contradiction, but it's life.
I've had Starbuck's, a cupcake and a soft taco today. But I don't feel guilty.

sms thanks! everything is clear here, we got through it okay

prepping i totally give you credit. i think i'd die in spin class. what's your secret??

wannabe eating small meals every 2-3 hours is good. make sure you're not overeating by eating regular sized meals though. eat more veggies than fruit though, or you might actually gain a bit from all the sugar in the fruit!

laneyy this sounds intense!

newme what is the fatsmash detox?

yossarian drinking water should ease your hunger pains. stick with it though!

rainbow hooray! your exercise regimen is working!!

eating chicken nuggets here...but they're the healthy kind from foster farms! they're dino nuggets, actually, rawr! haha, they're 170 calories for 4 pieces, so i had 6, and a salad. it's filling, so i'm happy ^_^ i guess i'm always just worried that when i eat and feel full, i'll gain the next day. i guess it's a constant fear. the other night when i went to pf changs with my friend and had crab wontons, chow fun, lettuce wraps, honey walnut shrimp, and mushrooms, i thought i could feel my face getting bloated. i think i'm paranoid. but all in all, not too bad! my new doctors scale is treating me well, hooray 140s ^_^

laney: I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'll check out those other dvds sometime in the future! I love her intensity but hate it at the same time, lol.

newmelicia: the no meat thing isn't for everyone I guess, but you are doing your best and seeing results! good for you!

yossarianlives: wtg! it sounds like you know what to do to get to your goals. keep er goin!

rainbowstripe: what number is your plateau at? mine is at 140-143...I despise those numbers for that reason lol

jmko: whatever your'e doing is working! I think some of us get a little obsessive, but it comes with the territory. I know that if I'm not a stickler, I fall off the wagon and lose focus.

So I'm going to a hockey game today, and I'm not drinking! Those two go hand in hand so this is new territory for me. Wish me luck!

I got a great cookbook yesterday, Good Housekeeping's Simple Vegan. I like recipes with few than 12 ingredients and about a 30 min cook time, max., and this cookbook fits the bill! Can't wait to try some new dishes out, when I have the time!

I'm having a hard time not weighing myself everyday. I do it every morning, but I know I shouldn't because when you're losing weight, the numbers tend to fluctuate and I don't want to end up discouraged. Haven't put the scale in the closet yet...lol

Have a good OP day ladies! Ciao!

rainbowstripes: congrats on moving through your plateau! It's always nice to have a "treat day", though!

jmko: I love chicken nuggets, so you've got me on the look on some variant of those chicken nuggets. I find eating at buffet restaurants really stressful, too, but sometimes you just have to enjoy yourself!

wannabe: I know what you mean about weighing every day... I used to really neurotically do it, but it used to really get me down sometimes. Last year I managed to go about a month without weighing, but this week is proving really difficult not to weigh. Frustrating!

SMS: congrats on your running! I'm currently training for a fitness test, and I know just how hard (and AWFUL) running is, so *snaps* for you!

Umm, today has been good, again. Sticking to plan for day 3 of new me! Went to the gym today and did about 7K. I've had a niggle in the backs of my calves, so I've had to lay off running which is frustrating. But I'm feeling lighter already!

jmko I wish we had dinosaur nuggets here ahah.

Wannabe Well I'm the lowest weight I've been in my adult life, so I didn't know if/when I'd plateau, but for nearly 4 weeks I'd been stuck at 63kg/138.8 pounds...it's finally moving, I am hopeful it will stick and continue downward! I love Good Housekeeping cookbooks, they're always good!

SMS Congrats on the running! Way to go!

yossarian It is nice to have a treat day - I even planned it to be higher calorie but ended up right on my usual target haha!

~Sunday here, first week of slightly lower calories and slightly more exercise is nearly over! I think I've done pretty well so far! Only have the rest of today to go with calories, and I could even go over 1400 and still have it even out for the week.
I have to phone someone about a job tomorrow, I'm kind of nervous - it's sort of bypassing the application process and just phoning to talk about it - it's at my boyfriend's dad's company, as a receptionist...I just worry I'm not good enough at talking myself up! It could be a great opportunity, more money, more stability, more actual work to do and responsibility...also less time to do other things, but I think that might make me more wise with my time and more motivated! We'll see. I'm nervous.

ok ladies,,,,there is too much to catch up on so I am just to resume from here.haha well we are not going to be able to get into our home for another week and a half or even 2 weeks! bummer. But we are staying in a nice hotel with a stove and fridge. The up side is our floors are getting upgraded and new cabinets as well. So a silver lining. I am going to take advantage of being downtown and am going to walk every week day around the park for a 4 mile walk/jog. I do it in about an hour. Also today was the last day of DD treatments so we are free for 6 months! haha now back to the normal therapies during the 5 week days. lol Hope you chicas are doing well. muah missed you.

sun Glad to hear you're ok and making the best of the situation! The walks sound nice and I guess the hotel is almost like a mini-holiday (or at least that's how I'd try to look at it hehe).

wannabe i tried weighing myself only once a week and decided i couldn't do it. i feel like i need to track my progress daily, to see what i was eating and if it affected my weight or not.

sms that's a mile! i don't know if i could do that. way to go!!

yossarian they were in the frozen chicken section of the grocery store. i spend forever grocery shopping because i have to read all the darn labels. hope you find some!

rainbow dinosaur nuggets are just more fun to eat. i'm sort of ashamed to say i was playing with them and making them "fight" before devouring them. haha, i'm such a kid. self-confidence is important for selling yourself. believe you're fantastic and you will be!

sun hooray new cabinets! that sounds great! and it's good you have a kitchen in your hotel room. that way you can still stay on plan and be healthy!

my doctor's scale is treating me very nicely. i'm actually quite glad i spent the money and bought one (hooray craigslist), because the digital scale is evil and tells me i haven't been losing, when my doctor's scale does. obviously i pick the doctor's scale. hahaha. i've been so busy with work i haven't been cooking all week and have been feeling a little guilty about it. i haven't been eating terribly out (well, except for pf changs), so i guess i'm okay. but i have been leaving the DH at home with the cat while I've been out playing. oops. i guess it's time to be a better wifey.

So I had a horrendous night and was so messed up this morning. But it was beautiful out so I went to the park with my girlfriend and her kids. DD was good so we went for lunch. Had a big salad with walnuts and feta and then ate a chocolate almond cookie. soo stuffed. Well DD is asleep so I am hitting the hay although its 4 in the afternoon. see you ladies later
