MsCoh- the meeting went well. The diving video was amazing. Now if I could just book someone for November I will be set for this year!
|
Okay, so had a mini meltdown. Talked it out. Ditched class and went to the grocery store. I got bananas, peaches, strawberries, and frozen dinners. I'm kind of against frozen dinners because of the sodium content, but ****, it's better than the crap I've been eating. I'm having a serious talk with the BF tonight. Him and his dad are having a "I can lose weight faster than you" war, and they are trying to sabotage each other (bringing treats [CRAP] home), and really, I'm the one falling for it. So until I can whip my butt back into cooking, frozen dinners it is! Baby steps...ugh. Oh well, I'm not going to dwell on it, that's not getting me anywhere.
Sorry for being Debbie-downer lately. I'll get back to where I was. It'll happen. I love you ladies. Thanks for being there! |
Ade- you are not a downer! We all go through our ups and downs and we are all here for support so when you are down we will bring you back up. I have also been doing pretty horribly lately. I would like to blame a lot of it on a busy schedule but I know it's really just me. You aren't alone. I am so sorry your BF and his Dad are going through their dating wars with you as the only casualty so far! :( I would tell my husband to toss it before bringing it home!! LOL

See the problem is my boyfriend lives with his dad. So he brings home crap hoping his dad will eat it and his dad brings home crap hoping he will eat it. I don't really have a say in it. And the stakes are high. The BF is getting a Macbook pro or something really expensive if he wins. So he wants to win. lol. Oh well. I was pleasantly surprised when I got home last night and the Chocolate pie from Claim Jumper decided to jump ship into the trash can.
So I asked the BF what he ate yesterday...and he had a chicken sub from Subway for breakfast, a turkey sub for lunch, and a turkey sub for dinner. Then some watermelon for dessert. He is gonna burn out on that fast. He was talking about sugar cookies and pie and all these horrible things last night. And I said "SEE SEE, this is my life. It's been two days for you. I deal with that every single day!" I think he might get it now. Oh and I waited to eat my frozen dinner until he was home. It was Asian Pot stickers, so it smelled sooo good. And I ate it in front of him. So now he knows how it feels. I've been putting up with that for months. I remember the first weekend I started on WW he went to Jack in the Box, Quiznos, and McDonalds. And every time he asked me if I wanted anything. Okay, I know, I'm being terrible. But I kind of like feeling powerful!! Or maybe I just resent the fact that he may have talked about sugar cookies and pie and all that, but he doesn't act on it (we'll see how long that lasts). Kind of a strong willed guy. Alright, enough about problems at home. I'll keep you posted. Still feeling good about the frozen dinners/fruit plans for the next couple of days. Maybe I'll burn out and actually cook this weekend. Hope all is well <3 |
Hm. I wish I had something to say that might help you, Ade. I am kind of lucky in that regard, as it's just me and roommates, so "unless I bought it I can't eat it" rules here.
Grats on living through your midterms, Coh, that's always a feat! :D Maybe if you found quick/semi-cooking recipes, then you can veer back from the frozen meals? But just some to tide you over shouldn't sky rocket a salt issue, unless you need to watch your blood pressure of course. I'm a fan of precut veggies (I usually do cabbage, snow peas, and green onion) zapped in the microwave for one minute while my somen noodles (Japanese pasta noodles that cook in 2 minutes) boil, while some precut stir-fry beef cooks in another pan. When the noodles are done, I drain a little of the water out before mixing in Better Than Bouillon beef paste and some random seasonings. Toss it together, stick the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and eat. Yum. That was a go-to meal for a few weeks. I also found a 4 point salmon burger in the frozen section near the meat department at a publix yesterday. I popped that sucker on my George Foreman grill for 10 minutes. That with 1 point provolone nuked on a 1 point bun/wrap, and more microwaved cabbage (got to use it up!), OMG yummmmm! I am a fan of quick and easy, single serve, can you tell? haha! |
Sounds good Zan!
|
:( Great now I want that salmon burger now...
Well, fruit and yogurt for lunch today... C'mon 4pm, :lol3:! I walked another 2 miles yesterday, yay. I'm going to get back on the treadmill tonight after dinner. There's no stopping me! :carrot: (Unless the electricity goes out, :p) |
zan - I'm just in a slump. I'm pretty quick at cooking. It'll take just four hours or so for the whole week. I just have zero planning motivation, so frozen dinners are gonna be it for now. I drink tons of water, so we'll see how the sodium effects me. And I'll get back into the groove. I'm still weighing in and going to meetings. I have an accountability friend (guamvixen on here) and you guys are loads of help. Thanks for the support! and way to go with all the walking you've been doing. Do a little for me, k? ;)
|
Yeah... That whole "make enough food for the week" thing would never work with me. I still have chili and black bean soup in my freezer since the last time I mentioned making it!
Me and "leftovers" just don't get along, :dizzy:. You got it, lady! :tread: |
Just wanted to share a little observation of my friends and coworkers. They all know I am watching what I eat so instead of bringing me "treats" they bring me drinks. One gave me OJ another brought me coffee. It just really shows me that they have no idea that drinks can contain the same amount of calories as a bad treat! Oh well, at least I can poor out a drink later and not feel too bad. ;)
|
zan - I love leftovers. Too much. And oh I can feel the burn!! Keep on going! lol
Kay - that is pretty funny. Man, I'm totally wanting a coke right now. I just might take a walk and get a coke zero. Get me out of here!!! lol. |
I've been good with no-soda in the past, but I find myself grabbing one or two from time to time now. Yay for diet coke, :p

My geekiness hurts my pocket far too often...
I'm thinkin' of picking up one of these (depending on reviews): Perfect Portions Nutrition Scale I'm just hoping that I can find a list of the "Built-in database of nearly 2000 foods", I'd like it to have items like bok choy, savoy cabbage, pummelo, or dragonfruit, not just Apple, Red. ;) The Sodium and Protein readings interest me too, so hmm. This WW point counting thing can get tricky (I need two/three electronic devices to figure out how many points 138 grams of a specific fruit is, depending on whether or not I have internet access, haha!). Um... I hope you guys don't mind... But I think I'll copy a WW recipe into this post for easy access later: POINTSŪ Value: 5 Servings: 6 Preparation Time: 12 min Ingredients: 1 spray(s) olive oil cooking spray 2 cup(s) frozen hash brown potatoes 1 cup(s) frozen corn kernels, thawed 1 cup(s) frozen pepper strips, thawed 8 oz Casual Gourmet Turkey Sausage - Mild Italian, or other brand, thinly sliced 1 cup(s) fat-free skim milk 2 large egg(s) 1/4 tsp table salt 1/4 tsp black pepper 3/4 cup(s) low-fat shredded cheddar cheese Instructions Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a medium square or rectangular baking dish with cooking spray. Place potatoes and then vegetables in baking dish; top with sausage. In a small bowl, beat together milk, eggs, salt and pepper; pour over sausage and then sprinkle with cheese. Bake until casserole is hot and cheese is browned, about 45 minutes. Cut into 6 pieces and serve. Note: Precook meat. Add more seasonings as reviewers found it to be a little bland (Spice it up!), so add sauteed onions, garlic, use [instead of the milk] the leftover jar of mild salsa in the fridge, use [instead of vague "pepper strips"] the fresh green pepper also in the fridge. Keep the liquid low so not to make it soggy. |
Zan- I hear ya on the points calculating thing. I have been doing pretty bad with point counting for a few weeks now. The hardest part is the items you have no nutritional info for. I am not at the point of being able to have a totally planned and structured diet. I am at about 75% planned and 25% non-planned. I just do my best and hope to get better with time. :/

Yeah, I don't "plan" at all really. Like how Ade used to cook on the weekend and have the meals ready during the week. My folks did that for quite a while when I was growing up and I learned quickly that I can't do that when I moved out on my own, I imagine that if I did that now I'd "cheat" on myself, ;), it's just how I am. I'm rebelling and the only one to rebel against is myself,
I just make sure that I have the technology to figure out the food I come across on hand (my 3 month journal, a basic point calculator, the food resources book, and a paper point slider in the purse when I am out and about, then that and a WW scale and internet browser at home - I google "Food name Nutrition Facts" so much I don't know why I don't just bookmark a few sites of them). I've managed to memorize my go-to foods down like fruits and veggies but since it's common for me to repeat meals like that soup thing for a while before switching to something new then coming back to it, it's a bit easier than if I was making something new every meal or something. Crazy how I can do that, but premake it and it will sit in my freezer until I am sure it is no longer edible! /facepalm. |
