Congrats, La Presidente Kay! :carrot:
Good luck getting those projects of yours done, I know how hectic that can get! |
Thanks, Zan. it kind of fell in my lap. The old president stepped down and with no VP in place it fell on me as Secretary. The crappy part is the President stepped down at a point where he had nothing in place. So now I am scrambling to set up events and speakers. Ugh. At least it will be smooth sailing once I get those things set up.

Congrats Kay! What kind of events/speakers does a fish society have? Good luck with all your crafting!
Hope everyone's plugging along. I hit one plateau, break it, then hit another. Aargh. Stuck at 148.6 for the last month and a bit now. Oh well, at least it's down from the last one :) Been pretty stressed lately so I have days where I eat too much and days where I don't eat enough. One day I will find a balance, maybe when I find it in my life! Bex, glad to hear things are sort of straightening out on your end. Hello to everyone else, have an amazing weekend! |
Freedom- we do frag swaps (fragments of corals), equipment sales as well as BBQs. We have all kinds of speakers from underwater photographers to chemistry professors doing talks on the technical end of the hobby. We have had the coral keepers from major aquariums come by for talks as well as people who are working on ocean re-population. I have gotten to know some very cool people over the years.
Sorry to year about your plateau. Once you stress subsides the scale will move again! |
Kay, that is super cool. Ive never had much luck even keeping goldfish, but before I went to vet school I used to volunteer at the animal hospital of the aquarium in Chicago and was just blown away by the husbandry involved. What kind of events are you planning?
Freedom, sorry to hear about the plateau, that's where I was for the past month. I know it helped me to think about how even though the scale wasn't moving, it was so much lower than it used to be, and there wasn't a deadline for losing the weight, so it was just going to have to come off at it's own pace. Ade, congrats on the loss! Slow and steady wins the race. Zan, any fun things planned for the weekend? I took my first exam this morning, and have survived. While there were definitely things I didn't know, it was a fair exam and I think I did a pretty good job preparing. I'm feeling a little down because I had been planning on going home to spend the holiday (Yom Kippur) with my family, but I know I wouldn't have been able to do everything I need to for school. So, I'm going to try to learn as much as I can, and not wallow too much, and do some serious retail therapy on Monday when this is all over. Happy weekend everyone! |
MsCoh- Tonight we have a diving video from the Philippines taken and edited by one of our members. Next month we have a guy coming out to talk about large tank constructions, I don't have anything for Nov. but Dec. is our holiday party so big raffles, free pizza, games and friends. I have a couple professors from Penn State coming out next year to do talks about lighting and organic carbon in our tanks. Next month we also have our annual swap. We show up with 3 corals and usually leave with 10-15!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Mad and Crazy weekend was had by me!
I drove 2 hours to see Alpha and Omega with friends right after work Friday (Yesh, we watch the silly kiddy movies from time to time). I had left work for the day and had to head back to check the office door, I could have sworn I hadn't locked it, and my mind kept repeating the question, "Would my boss fire me for that if someone popped in and stole stuff?" So yeah, not such a great start stress-wise. But I had fun playing Dance Dance Revolution after the movie. I cannot believe the energy level I have now after losing 50 pounds. I could have played that game more, but one of our group wasn't joining in, and I hate leaving people out. We ended up watching Tank Girl and The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, which were awesome, I recommend those movies! So between an hour and a half sleep that night, and a two and a half hour drive to a Halo Reach Lan Party Saturday and another three/four hours sleep before 17 hours of two roleplaying games, then another hour and a half drive and less than six hours of sleep before work today, I am TOAST! Zombie-ing it here at work, :p What a wild weekend. That Fish Society sounds awesome, Kay! Great work on getting those people and speakers together. I always wanted to learn more about it, but it is a lot of work to maintain a salt water tank! Especially if you don't have a semi-permanent place for it. Sorry you missed out on the Holiday with family, Coh, but sticking it out for school was a smart move. Enjoy your retail therapy! I here it gets tougher closer to a normal weight range, but you can do it, Freedom, just keep working on it! |
Zan- Thanks! The saltwater tanks can be kind of crazy with all the work involved but my husband does all the technical stuff. I am the one that knows all about the corals and fish, he knows the chemistry. LOL Sounds like you had a great weekend!
I am having a kind of off day. I was supposed to cook an Indian dish for a potluck lunch today but ran out of time on Sunday to cook it so I ended up buying a dish from a restaurant. I am sure it is much more fattening than the dish I would have made. I also had half of a "pizza bagel" from a really good bakery in town. Good thing I have a salad planned for dinner! |
I lost 2kg this week. So thats 4.4lbs. I AM SO HAPPY!
I have lost 20.8kg. Which is like 46lbs. I have not been this small in 3 years. :D |
Congrats Bex!! That's fantastic - almost 50lbs gone!
|
Bex that is FANTASTIC!
You'll get back on track, Kay, life happens, ;). |
Congratulations Bex!
|
Congrats, Bex!!
So I feel like a broken record. I've been saying the same things for weeks now. Off track. Blah. Gonna concentrate on making better choices before I jump back in. My motivation is so low, I think that's all I can do for now :( Part of me feels like a failure, but I'm not quitting this time. Just a boulder in my road. Sorry for being a downer. |
Congrats Bex! That is fantastic.
I survived midterms, although I won't find out about grades until later in the week. I've been a little off track this week. Saturday's date involved the eating of fried cheese, and in general I was just awake for a really long time which necessitated some late night snacking. Hopefully now that the serious school stress is over and I can catch up on my sleep I'll be able to get back into a good food and exercise routine. Zan, your weekend sounds like so much fun! Kay, how'd the fish meeting go? Ade, sorry to hear about the missing motivation. That can be rough. Hopefully the more you make the good choices, the more ingrained it will be, and then motivation will be less of an issue? Hope everyone's having a good week so far! |
