Omigod ladies. My week has been crazy.

I thought I'd be able to rest up after I finished midterms (still no grades, it's driving me nuts...) but I've had almost no downtime since. Yesterday I had class from 8AM until 5PM since it was my long day, then I had afternoon tx in the clinic which I thought would only take 10-15 minutes but there were some issues, and I wound up being there for 3 hours! Then I had tickets to go see Of Montreal, and I thought the show would be starting around 9, but the band didn't even go on until 11, and my friend that was driving got super drunk and it wound up being a whole big thing... Long story short, I decided to take the day off and catch up on my sleep for reals.

So I'm feeling a little better now, but this is definitely the most out of control I've felt in a long time and it's kind of freaking me out. I used 22 of my weekly points this week and only exercised once, and have literally eaten nothing but frozen food or takeout for the last week and a half. I am about to turn into a human saltlick. I know being able to deal with these stressful times is going to be a big part of maintenance, and that everything in my life is something that I have chosen to have there, but right now even the stuff I'm trying to do for fun and relaxation is making me anxious. I'm drinking way too much coffee, my blood pressure is up, I'm not sleeping well, my TMJ is bad and I've had a headache for like a week and a half. So obviously I need to work a little harder at having some balance in my life.

Okay, finished with rant. Sorry for being such a whiner. I know what I need to do, and now it's just a question of doing it. I'm going to make real food for dinner tonight, take care of my life maintenance stuff today, and take a nice long walk in the woods

Ade, I'm usually a big proponent of the TV dinners, especially when time is an issue, but it's a slippery slope! Just try to stay hydrated and supplement with fresh vegetables. The Kashi dinners are a little more expensive, but they tend to be a bit lower in salt and higher in fiber and taste great. Amy's Organics also has a fantastic Palak Panner dinner that's only 5 pts that I LOVE. Also, I totally had the Healthy Choice Potsticker meal for dinner last night.

Kay, that is so sweet that your coworkers try to bring you things that work with the "lifestyle", even if they're not always on target. I normally don't make a big deal about my eating habits, but a friend outed me to my wildlife team, and since then they've been awesome about bringing snacks that I can eat, like fresh fruit, and for my birthday one of them baked an angel food cake!

Zan, you are a rockstar (also, I imagine you as having a giant purse). Do you like the WW food scale? I've been thinking of getting one, but haven't done the research yet.

Ugh I need a little mental/vent break. I just had an angry department person call me complaining that something was done wrong and he wanted us to fix it. He has no concept of the processes involved and just started demanding we make changes. First of all due to DEA regulations I could not do what he was asking so flat out, no, I was not going to be doing what he asked. He started getting all mad and snippy being like, "you guys can't fix things when you make mistakes!?" when he is a complete idiot and it was the department who made the mistake. He swears the department did not make the mistake even though he doesn't realize we couldn't have even helped the department in the first place unless they gave the us the info he says we got wrong. Jerk. I started getting snippy with him too and I like NEVER do that. He asked to talk to someone who can change the process... I should have told him to call the DEA. But my pissed off self told him to contact our director although I did tell him this was a very specific and regulated process which would not be changed. At least that felt a little satisfying.

OK vent over.

MsCoh- Sounds like you have had a really crazy week! I hope things settle down soon!

zanheltangia 09-23-2010 02:41 PM

Busy, busy! Life gets hectic now and again, and I am glad that you are feeling a little better , I hope that balance comes back quick, and that walk should help definitely! Hopefully getting back to your usual meals will help bring relief too, I notice a big difference when I eat heavy-high-calorie meals vs. what I usually eat now (I try to go low point to get a in-my-mind decent amount of food volume), I get crabby, don't want to do anything, and basically want to sleep it off.

Personally, I think the food scale is awesome. I stick a container on it, zero out the weight, then plug in the Calories, Fat, Fiber, and Serving size in Grams. Then I fill the container with whatever amount looks good and pop it back on to get the points value. (Then add more or take a bit off,!)
It's crazy how much difference 1/2 cup vs XX grams can be, either too much or missing some, and that might knock the points values around which is frustrating.

Some other scales are great too, but I liked the fact that the WW one would generate the points values, (The one above I am thinking of also getting, just 'cause I would like to have the rest of the information at my finger tips without having to turn on my computer and I'm a bit overkill like that [note a paper & electronic point calculator are in my purse,] ;), but I'll just plug that info into my points calculator when I use it anyway)

So yeah, I have had one for MONTHS, almost since I started, and that's how I weigh my cereal and pasta, etc, easy, but the things without nutrition facts, I just get their information off the web instead of looking them up in the little booklet that comes with it, and then plug it in and there you go.

Yeah, the purse is big [as long as my elbow to the base of my fingers], but mostly empty, :lol3: It's kind of my snack & water bottle bag as well. :p I got a thing for a bag that'll fit my netbook and random junk in it no prob when I feel like lugging junk along, but most of the time there's nearly nothing in it. Great for sneaking healthy munchies into the movie theaters, Muahaha

I think someone needs a voodoo doll...

I hope that stress blows over, and someone takes care of that guy for you, Kay. Ugh. If only callers could take a second to cool their heads before picking up the telephone, yelling is not going to get their problems solved, just increase them. :frypan:

Side Note: It's crazy the things that can be found on the Internet, but, I'm just repeating common knowledge, aren't I? :D

ade903 09-23-2010 03:52 PM

zan - you always seem to crack me up. Like seriously. You are awesome.

kay - people are rude and mean. Glad we are here so you can vent.

Coh - wow crazy week! Good for you taking a day off. Much needed.

Me - Still sticking to my frozen meals. Drinking lots of water. Tired and groggy, but keep on chugging. Weird: I had several dreams last night where I was in several car accidents. Called my mom this morning and my sister hit my moms car. Crazy? Perhaps. (damage is minimal, everything is fine). But still, crazy. I'll be checking in tonight after my weigh in. Only been back on track for a couple of days, so I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks for getting me through my rough month. You guys are the best.

KayNicole 09-23-2010 04:36 PM

: printing voodoo doll for future use : :s:

Thanks, Zan! You are always good for lightening anyone's mood.

Ade- You guys are all awesome. Wouldn't it be nice if we were all rich and we could all meet up for an awesome vacation somewhere? I remember hearing about a weight loss cruise... that would be so awesome. lol

Ms GenghisCohen 09-23-2010 05:49 PM

How about Biggest Loser Fat Camp? The commercials make it look super fun and the desert is good for my hair.

ade903 09-23-2010 05:53 PM

That would be fun! When I was in high school I did a morning boot camp. I really want to do it again. My only problem is consistency. M/W I'm not in my city, weekends are hit and miss. Maybe once I graduate (and have more money) I can look into it more. Random thought.

zanheltangia 09-23-2010 06:22 PM

Now that's odd. A few hours ago I was looking at a local boot camp here on the space coast. They have a set of afternoon days that would fit my schedule. I think it's fate, muah!

:hug:s for all!!! I love having you all here to chat with, you keep me going, :D

Side note: I decided randomly to get my "virgin" eyebrows waxed an hour or so ago when I spontaneously got my hair cut (it needed it, it's been nearly two years). OH MY GOBLINS! I thought the woman was going to climb onto the chair, YeeeeeOUCH!!! I think I have three hairs left, just kidding, but OMG where'd they GO???

KayNicole 09-23-2010 06:50 PM

I just had to share that I got an email titled holiday boot camp and had a mini moment of uh oh who signed me up!? lol but it was a craft related thing.

MsCoh- Biggest loser camp would be amazing! I looked it up and really it seems reasonable when you consider its like a vacation to save or at least change your life! I love that a place like the BL ranch is out there for people!

Ade- I also crave consistency but can never seem to do it for myself. That is why I LOVE fitness classes. I feel obligated to go and people notice when I don't go!

Zan- way to pamper yourself! Do you like it? Did they turn out ok? I know sometimes they can get a little crazy and leave you looking like you need to fill them in with an eyebrow pencil.... as long as you don't look like this lady...

ade903 09-23-2010 07:34 PM

Great picture Kay!!

Well I am down a pound and on my period so I am calling that back on track! Woo! Thanks for your support!

zanheltangia 09-24-2010 09:41 AM

Congrats, Ade! :woohoo:!

Kay, with my makeup skills (or more specifically, lack there of), I probably would look somewhat like that woman if I tried to draw some on.
They look okay in my opinion, though I'd probably like to have them thicker, but now that I had someone do the shape for me, I can maintain 'em.
I can't imagine what would have happened if I had waxed 'em myself, or plucked 'em or something. I'd probably be lopsided,

Yay! It's Friday!
The weekend awaits!

Ms GenghisCohen 09-24-2010 01:41 PM

Ade, congrats on the pound! And on feeling back on track; it's great that you've been able to work your way through this and come out on the other side.

Zan, that is a pretty big step. I feel brow grooming/shape can have a huge effect on the overall look of one's face. Do you feel different? And pictures?

Kay, how are the preparations for your craft fair? It's this weekend, right?

I was up 0.2lbs this week, but I feel like it's a small enough gain that it could easily be water so I'm not going to get worked up about it unless the trend continues...

My day off from vet school was exactly what I needed and I finally succeeded in making real food for dinner and am finally starting to feel less thirsty all the time. So that is good. I also got my midterm grades this morning, so "yea!" for no more suspense, and double "yea!" for the news being good, so at least now I feel all the misery of the last couples weeks has been worth it.

My plan for the weekend is to try to reincorporate exercise into my life and of course, get ahead on the studying since there's only 3 weeks until finals... You guys got anything fun going on?

KayNicole 09-24-2010 02:51 PM

Zan- I am sure you would have to try pretty hard to look like that lady! :D

MsCoh- My craft show is this weekend! Only Saturday though, I am so glad its only one day! I still have a few pieces to finish off and I still have to find some gift bags for the items we sell. Oh yeah and I still have to tag and price everything. Ugh... seems like a lot but I should be able to have it all done in a few hours.

Well I am worried about lunch today. It is "date lunch" (since we don't have nights together anymore) and the hubby decided on a Chinese buffet. I will do my best to make smart choices but really... not many of my options will be smart choices. Wish me luck!

zanheltangia 09-24-2010 07:46 PM

Ugh, Kay, you should have seen me last halloween, muahahaha  It's a lot of work, but what a relief to have it all done and ready! Don't stress too much about that Date Lunch, Chinese is tough, but it's not like you eat that daily,

Congrats on the good news, Coh, you are one busy lady! That hard work is going to pay off though!

So picture, huh?

eeeeee.... Okay...

Your thoughts? (I'm thinking improvement!)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...seph/Brows.jpg

Next step, new glasses. My previously chunky face stretched these black ones out over the past two years - I look down now and they go flying off my face! :dizzy: 'bout time for an eye exam anyhow..
I suck at picking glasses though. Can you tell that I chose these to hide behind? ;)
