rain- WOW! I can't believe those girls... I really hope these aren't people that you would classify as friends. First of all at your height you're not even considered overweight so what the heck do these girls know! Please don't let them get you down. You're doing an awesome job!

Hi Ladies! I feel like I just made my way into this thread not too long ago and for some reason I'm already down to 165 which brings me to......

50 lbs LOST

So super excited about that, but I still have another 30 to 40 lbs to go!

Congrats kswood!! Psh, I can't WAIT until 50 lbs are gone. I'll be strutting around like Miss America!

How's everyone else doing? I think this weekend is going to be my first set back weekend. I have been eating horribly! On top of that my knees are killing me so exercise isn't fun. It hurts to stand, walk, run. I may need to get them checked out because bad knees run in the family.

Yesterday I was doing my Active workout and accidentally didn't save it before turning off my wii! I was just going to take the loss but I laid in bed for five minutes and decided to do it all over again. I guess there's some positive outcomes there: twice the exercise is better than none, I felt GUILTY for not wanting to do it again, I didn't waste a "rest day"!

I'm thinking about starting the 80oz of water tomorrow. The whole family is going apple picking and then we don't have anything planned for the rest of the day. I figured I could calculate how many times I'll really need to use the bathroom by drinking that much on a boring home day... I HATE PUBLIC RESTROOMS!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and our low 160s girls can jump that hurdle to the 150s!

Thank you guys for all your encouragement re: my last post here! It means alot to me! I seriously love the 3fatchicks community and you girls here on the 160's thread are my favorites! :-)

Echo: I'm 5'10 3/4, so I was pretty offended they were so dogmatic about me needing to weigh 140ish and have certain measurements! It's utterly ridiculous that people have this "ideal" in their heads and think it's the only way to be :-P

Kswood: CONGRATULATIONS on the 50 lbs lost! It's so awesome to hear stories like that! :-)

This was a let-down week, instead of seeing 159.9 like I had earlier this week, in my weigh in today I saw 162.5. BLAH. This coming week I hope to start exercising again (I've been off my foot for several weeks) and eating on a proper schedule. That's my goal, and to see 159 next Saturday!

Oh gosh, today has been a terrible day, self-esteem wise. I finally told some girls I know how much I weigh (never told anyone before) and that I'm trying to lose. And I'm 162ish, and though I know I weigh more than they do, I don't *feel* that big compared to them, so I thought they'd just be like "Oh, that's nice, go for it." But instead, several of them said things like "We wondered when you were going to try to lose that extra weight", and one girl (she's a fitness trainer) asked what my body fat calculations are (they're 31%) and told me even though I may not LOOK obese, those calculations are OBESE and I must have alot of extra body fat and no muscle and I really need to fix that!

Another girl (not a friend, so she might have been intentionally cruel) said "Oh, 160 pounds! My husband (aka a MAN who should weigh more than me) got up to 160 pounds after we got married, and even his relatives were saying he looked all fluffy! I don't know, maybe I was feeding him too much!"

It's like, people take no consideration of the fact that I'm 5 inches TALLER than her husband, it's just the "160" that sends them all into skinny-people orbit. Then one friend (she was trying to be helpful) gave me a chart of how you're supposed to weigh 100 pounds at 5 foot and 5 pounds for every inch after, so at 5'10 150 pounds should be the MOST that I ever weigh, and if I want to be "average sized" (WHAT?) I should be around 140 tops. Then she added that obligatory skinny-friend comment that she weighed 110 on a FAT DAY, of course.

It was all really, really discouraging, to find that even when people were trying to be encouraging - subtly they all think of me as some tall, large cow. :-p To top it off I tried on lingerie I used to be able to wear and looked awful! Needless to say, I am SERIOUS about this weight loss now. :-P
I kind of feel like you're just going to be my buddy now, because we both have screen names with viola in them (I do everywhere else, like on AIM, but chose a different screen name for here so people couldn't trace me back here so easily. I have played viola since I was 11 and am still in orchestra now at college) and because we're both tall girls (I'm 5'10"!) and because we're both 161 right now and I have hardly any muscle either!!!!!! Let's be twinsies! XDDDDDDDD
So... coming from a fellow 5'10"er... THAT'S RIDICULOUS! Seriously! Even if you are like me and kind of flabby since you don't have a lot of muscle, that doesn't mean you're a fat COW! I bet you look GOOD in clothes... maybe not so good naked, but good in clothes, and that's 90% of the battle, since anyone who would be seeing you naked probably wouldn't care that much anyway! I'm 161 and about your height and I know sometimes I feel my stomach is still ridiculously big (I wear a size 12) but every single day I tell myself "I am not fat anymore. I am a NORMAL weight. I look NORMAL. I look GOOD." It's true. It's REALLY true. And I know it's true for you too. How about you post a picture or two in the 20-somethings photo album? I'm sure we'd all think you look fab! Congrats on your current loss and good luck getting down to 145.... (see! We even have the same goal! We MUST be twinsies!!!!! XD)

Thanks guys!

I was actually going to post some pictures in the mini-goal forum but of course I left my camera in a friends car this past weekend so it will have to wait. It's weird though because I actually feel bigger now at 165 than I did at 215. I KNOW I'm smaller but eh I feel the same.

kswood- I haven't lost as much weight as you have but I had this conversation with my sister the other day. Even though I'm 23 pounds lighter, I look in the mirror and still feel fat. She recently lost a bunch of weight too and she said it's best to look for the more obvious differences. Yes, I still have love handles but now I pinch them, before I'd get a whole handful of fat there.

Today was my official weigh in, and i had a 1.1 lb loss! i know it doesnt sound much, but considering the week i had, im happy !

so all that calorie counting and calculations paid off lol. i am especially pleased, because i was nervous i would either gain or not lose anything at all, cause i've been quite sick this week, with a painful sorethroat, and so i wasnt able to work out as hard as i would have normally. so i'm very happy with 1 lb loss

even yesterday my scale hadn't budged, so yesterday i was beginning to doubt myself, but still kept pushing onwards and exercised and did my last chance workout and burned as many calories as i could and ate within my calorie intake... it was only today that it finally moved!!

i'm also very happy, that my BMI is now 25!!! yippeee and i broke through the 160 barrier - albeit just slightly ! lol by 0.2 lol but im taking it hahahah.

now i just have to maintain it this week and keep going! i'm not ready to leave this thread yet though. i wanna stay until i know the loss is real and i'm abit further away from the borderline , 159.8 is still too close to 160!

taking the day off tommorow , to run a couple of errands and treat myself to a cinema trip, havent been for ages!!

so looking forward to that. and now i have even more reason to treat myself , i had said to myself when i reach a bmi of 25 i would treat myself so gonna go and watch a movie :-)

have a good day tommorow everyone !

thanks everyone for your support!! you girls are awesome!!

Hi everyone!

I just saw this thread an thought I might join you

I will probably stay here with this thread for some time because I have some health issues, I'm on hydrocortisone and can't exercise at the moment because I'm recovering from surgery. I will however try to lose weight even if everyone says it's impossible to lose while on steroids. I am not that overweight but I let my weight get to me if you know what I mean. It takes away my confidence and I really hate that I guess you can be sexy at any weight or shape if you know how to strut your stuff I'm just really awkward and shy. Some people think I am very cold and unwelcoming but it's just how I get when in public. I don't look at people around me, I avoid eye contact, don't really know what to say to people I meet for the first time.. Very weird.. But if you get to know me I am great

I am on no particular diet, just trying to eat healthy but I will call for a meeting with a nutrition specialist tomorrow to see what he has to say about my situation. Maybe we can beat this. I really hope so.

Hope you have a great week ahead.

To rainsweptviola, and all the other responders (especially fellow tall girls) I totally agree that shorter people frequently have no concept of what difference your height makes, and it is REALLY annoying when people act like it is ridiculous if you weigh more than a man who is WAY shorter than you. I weigh close to the same as my husband right now (which I must I admit I am not a huge fan of), but it totally makes sense when I consider that he is about 2.5 inches shorter than me. Why are people so insensitive? I guess I am blessed to have a skinny BFF who is constantly pointing out that despite the fact that she weighs about 30 lbs less than me, we can still share clothes (we are exactly the same height). Of course, they look much better on her so I want to fix that, but she is kind enough never to mention it.

Hello Ladies! Mind if I join? I was actually in the 150s a couple of months ago, made it all the way down to 154 at one point. However, I fell off plan and gained some back ... I got around to finally changing my ticker today. Anyway, I'm ready to get back on track! I bought groceries today and now have healthy choices in the house. Also, I just moved into a new apartment with a free gym! So here we go, 150's here I come, and hopefully 140s won't be far after that!
