Well Echo, I didn't make it to the 150s this week but with a 2.4 pound loss, I'm pretty darn close at 161.2!!!!! I have now lost 30.8 pounds since July 26, 2008 and 16.2 pounds since September 2, 2009! Today is probably one of the happiest days I've ever had. I even allowed myself a homemade, straight out of the oven, chocolate chip cookie to celebrate!
awesome KurLEQ! cant wait for you to join me! you're so close!!!! aww bless

Thanks Justkeepswimming!!! aww you're so close! hope to see you in the 150s very soon!
I'm still teetering between 167-169. It's annoying me, but TOM will be gone tomorrow and hopefully that will help. Need to get back on track with my workouts. Rain kept me from walking in the mornings, so back to it this week.
Hey all! Just checking in...weighed in at 163.6 Sunday!! My mini-goal is to get out of the 160s by the end of the month, which I'm sure I can do...and probably even a little sooner than I had hoped! The 160s have been going by really fast!!
Also, I'm looking for a new weight-loss buddy. I had one for a while, but i haven't heard from her in almost 3 weeks. Looking for someone around the same height and weight..doesn't have to be exact. Just someone to check in with a few days a week to help me stay motivated...kinda give me a little friendly "competition"...and swap info and tips with. If anyone is interested, PM me!
162.6 this morning. I think I really will be able to meet my goal of being in the 150's by the end of November. My original goal was 158. I'll take anything within a lb of that!
I need some advice on how to get out of the 160's when it's my starting weight. I've been walking every morning for 35minutes to an hour for about 10 days now, and I don't want to do this for a long period of time and see no results. What else should I be doing? I eat pretty healthy and try my best to count calories. Help? I don't have any money or equipment.
Britt - It's a slow process sometimes. Walking is great excercise, and you can't give up after only a short time. You said you try your best to count calories, what range are you staying at? I put your stats into a calculator and to lose 1 pound per week, you should be eating no more than 1630. There is a lot more info in the counting calories section. Start there is that's what you want to do.
So, I'm down to 166.8 today! Yay!! Thank goodness TOM is gone!!
I can't believe I have to say this but I didn't make it to the 150s this week. In fact, I didn't even get any closer to the 150s. My official weigh in weight was exactly the same as last week. I know I didn't try that hard this week but it's the first week I haven't had any change at all and it hit me hard. I've taken today as a rest day to get things back in order and I'm going to work twice as hard this week. I'm so angry with myself
My starting weight was 169, although that only lasted a few days so the average was more like 165, and I'm 5'11. When you don't have as much weight to lose it can be SLOW progress when you're starting out!! Especially because at our height, 160 is in our healthy weight range, and often it's harder to lose when your body thinks it's at a comfortable weight and is perfectly happy to stay there. If I don't exercise FAITHFULLY, if I even slack off for a few weeks, my body will retain and even gain back what I lost because it's so comfortable around 160. But I keep at it, because I FEEL far better both in confidence and overall health when I'm thinner!
Don't get discouraged though! When you keep at it faithfully you WILL see results! :-)
My best weight loss secret is to eat no more than 1400 calories (I have a very sedentary job and move very little during the day), and walk/run for one solid hour daily. Make sure when you do your walking that a good portion of that time is spent sweating quite a bit, to release toxins out of your body and lose excess water weight. For me sweating is very important in moving weight off! I try to sweat for a solid 30 minutes of my workout.
Also I've found that I have food allergies to wheat and dairy and if I eat those I cannot lose at all, but when I eliminate them from my diet the weight comes off much quicker. So keep an eye on what you're eating just in case; generally if a certain food makes you feel sick or instantly bloated, it may hinder weight loss.
It WILL happen for you! I'll see you in the 150's thread soon! :-)
I sure hope TOM is the culprit...which I'm sure it is, but today when I stepped on the scale it said 166.something (I didn't even bother to read the last number). I should have known not to get on the scale this morning!! And I should have known not to eat most of the crap I had for dinner last night too....(my mom invited us over to eat). If it wasn't for the fact that I didn't eat very well last night, it wouldn't have been so discouraging when I saw that number. Blahhh. Getting my butt in gear for the rest of the week--and I'm not getting back on the scale until TOM goes away!!!!
Kurri - Don't get discouraged. I was stuck at 169-167 for over 2 weeks. Maybe you had more salt than normal or maybe TOM is coming soon. Just keep on going, next week is a new week!
Amba - TOM sucks, doesn't it? Next week will be better!
I'm down .6 today to 166.2. Slowly but surely. I think I'm going to miss my goal of 160 this month, but it is what it is and honestly I need to get my butt back in gear and do my workouts more often.
