Les: good for you on the smaller clothes. Sorry about it being in relation to someones passing. I know you were skeptical at the beginning that you'd ever be in a smaller number, I am happy you are finding success! How's the cookie baking going right now? I need to but I know I will eat my way along with it.

Hello Violets!

AM:
Still struggling with it all. I know I need to lose weight, I know I want to lose weight, but hellSbells I'd be more happy if it were easier and I could eat what I'd like when I'd like and not have to micromanage the calories. However we have found what happens when I don't do the micromanaging. I put on weight and it goes up. My whole aim about loosing was so I didn't double my size after my loss. The good news is, I am still down but I have stalled. I am right now on the run w/the family and I am not making me a priority.

Otherwise, still have my ton of projects to get completed. The good news is the tree is up and decorated as is my front porch area. I have most of my shopping done (DH is responsible for his nephews this year) I have to place two orders this am and then find a gift card for my teenage pain in the wazuti niece. She only likes about 2 places, both of which offer clothing that is geared more for college age (she's 13) and her parents think it all hanging out is on trend for her. Yeah. Can kids be kids and the whole hurry to grow up slow way down? Maybe I am naive to hope that could happen, I am in no hurry for my kids to dress like adults before their time and frankly I don't want to have to buy things to encourage it for her.

Sorry, I am off my box now. Ok - back to the task at hand, my weight and my health need to take center stage. I aim to get it going this week as best I can.

Happy Monday to you all!

The holidays are hard for weight loss, Lemon, for everyone. Just try to be nice to yourself and do what you can, while also enjoying your family and time during the holidays. If you need to take a break from weight loss during the holidays, you can always pick it up right after.

Teenagers will always be in a hurry to grow up, I think. Gift cards are the best choice for that age, I loved getting them when I was a teen.

Yes, I didn't think I'd be able to change, and I'm glad see I am fitting into smaller clothing. I actually like shopping now and will go again tonight. I'm spending too much $, though, haha.

Christmas baking will start soon. I love it, but I also love to eat Christmas cookies. All of my favorites are good for this time of year. I will have to be careful to stay under my calories each day for the next month or so. Good luck to us all!

Les: The gingersnaps are calling my name and I haven't even baked them yet. My remedy to help not consume them all is to package them up and then down to the freezer in the basement. Not my favorite thing to do when I feel the need to eat sweets, I loathe having to go down my steep stairs just for a cookie, so that urge passes. I do hope if I can get back into the swing of cycling to do that at least 3x a week. the body feels better when I move and of late I have been on my duff w/all my projects. I had planned to get a bunch done today - but ended up spending my morning too and from the clinic 45 mins away and then of course that wait time. In this house right now, it's always something - it's full of sickos today.

Enjoy your shopping! Have you been filling in w/second hand or all new? For myself I guess I'd buy new a few key pieces but I would have to do second hand until I was closer to what I had hoped. And on top of it, I kept my skinnier weight jeans and they aren't out of style so maybe if I dropped into the 220s at least, I could start wearing them again.

Just take it from me: beware the cookie baking. I have started and those nasty tasty good things just heckle and cat call the baker! Be strong lady!

I am realizing that when I don't move for a period of time, my body goes back to feeling inflamed. I told DH that tonight I have to go move at the gym. It will hurt when I begin but I do hope it makes it all start to feel right again. Makes you wonder why the reaction to lack of movement beyond daily repetitive. So move I will.

How is everyones Holiday preparedness going? I am sewing and baking today. I think, well, that's my grand plan. Yesterday was spent at the doctor so I will play catchup today.

Does anyone have good ideas to keep LO out of the tree and packages? He's a spitfire and will find anyway possible to get into things. He's worse then his sister was at this age.

And diet - well slowly bringing that back on track. I don't want to go on hiatus through the holidays, that can have bad issues for me. So I will try each day, to do at least three good things for said diet be it increased water or hitting my calories for the meal or the like.

Hope everyone is well!

I am not prepared for Christmas at all! I really need to get shaking. I have no clue how to keep a little guy out of the tree and presents, Lemon! Little kids and pets just seem to love them, haha.

Moving makes me feel better, too, so I'm trying to keep up with the walking and small exercise routine. Doing good most days.

Good for you for doing something each day during the holidays. Hopefully it helps and you will get a nice drop by January!

Les: I biked last night for 45 mins. Since I hadn't for some time, I didn't push it, thought I was going to come off the bike at 20 mins and kept on for my 45. I managed 13 miles in that time. It makes me wonder what they think (video surveillance) when I hobble off the bike to get the cleaner. But I felt better this morning as a result. So I will try to get there again tonight. Weight is at 234.8, surprisingly not as high as I thought I might have been.

Oh - I hear you on being way behind to get things made and done. I was cutting out fabric last night. My DD is concerned I won't get her concert dress done in time. I aim to get it that way today less the hem - that will have to wait until school is done. then maybe I can finish some more items that have been moved to the back burner. Have I wrapped anything - HECK NO! I need a full day baby sitter just to get that done and less crap happening in the world that makes me glued to the news for a while. Maybe my MIL will watch the kids one day for me. Oh one could hope. I have given myself a cut off of 12/20 to be done with it all. HAHAHAHA.

AM: It's been mighty quiet here - I do hope the other violets are doing well and weight is just falling off in great quantities. You all have been good encouragers for me to keep up with this journey. Did I think I'd be down 20 lbs at the end of the year? NOPE. I thought I'd be 20 heavier, so thank you for keeping me focused.

My weight tracker says my 10 lb goal is due 12/22. I hope I can do that and then some. I am trying to keep track better and with the exercise hope it will continue to do a gradual slide to the 220s. I haven't been that since 2008 if I recall. I hope to surprise my doctors next year at my yearly and be under 200. That would be a nice gift to myself. I'll keep working with this and see where I go.

Happy day to you all!

Morning! Scale moved a tad further down but still trying to get out of the 230s. Has it been easy? No way. But I try each day. Currently on my second cup of coffee - today I am at a full out sprint - 3 appointments all over the county. Yeah. LO is in the seat to ride with me. Hopefully that goes well, under 3 you never can tell how one will do. Patience can be extremely thin and melt downs high.

I need some dinner ideas tonight - bored today w/what I though I'd make. I think I will use chicken breasts, but beyond that I don't know. Something fairly easy as it's got to fit in to the slow cooker here at some point.

Happy day to you all!

Woohoo! I am on the cusp of falling into the 220s! I haven't been 230.6 for almost what eight years? Feels good this morning to see that scale on a downward trend. Thank you all for letting me moan, groan and help you celebrate along this way. Geez, when I started my goal was just not to go up which I was most certainly fearful was going to happen after my news in July. I am glad I decided to do something for myself. This is a nice feeling to have. According to my app I have 5 lbs to go until the next mini goal. Did I think I'd be in the 220s by Christmas, no not at all. So I think this spurs me to keep going - cookies be darned.

Les: How are you doing this am? Will you have the LOs for Christmas? What type of gifts do you ply them with? How about your cookies? do they help you bake and decorate? My LO is the pourer of all ingredients. He's learning and gets indignant if I DON'T invite him to bake with me. If he sees me anywhere near the mixer I get the cookie question. I do hope all is going well for you!

AM: I got up my nativities finally last night and I got some presents wrapped. Thus far the LO hasn't discovered they are under the tree as it's kind of in a corner and has an end table wedged behind it, so he hasn't realized we stuck the wrapped ones under the table yet. Here's hoping he won't. Knowing him, I will come back down from my shower and have a pile to rewrap.

I do hope you all are doing fine and having weight take the trip! I wish this thread got a bit active again - you have all been such a help for me. Too often I think weightloss fails because no one in real life wants to cheer you on or say I do notice you are loosing weight. Here we all have stopped started or fallen off the journey when we think we can just do it. So thank you Violets for giving me the gumption to keep with it.

Lemon, Christmas is here! We are decorating and baking and trying to make it as fun as we can for the little ones. That has kept me busy and away from here though. The oldest will sometimes help with cookies, but I think he just likes making a mess, haha.

Good for you for being so close to the 220's! I am glad you decided to do this also! It feels good to take care of yourself.

183 here for the second day. Feeling pretty good about where I am right now. I definitely want to get more exercise, and am trying to work it in each day. Hope everyone is doing well!

Sadly I have to change my ticker in all efforts of remaining accountable. This weekend whenever I got on the scale it'd stay at 230 but it was doing larger leaps up to 235. So I picked it up and found that LO had wedged 2 dry beans under it and in the grout lines of the floor. When I cleared that out and reset the scale down it stayed at 235. Sadness. Well, we pick up from here and just keep moving I guess. Downward is a plus, lets just hope I can do it again.

Not anywhere close to being done on the gift making side - I did get the concert dress done, less the hook/eye I have to put on. It looks good and she's happy with it. Today after therapy I can begin in earnest (I HOPE) the rest of the items. I am good on house deco and I have a bunch of presents wrapped, so that helps that overwhelming feeling as well. Maybe tonight I will have DH help me wrap while we watch football. Will have to see.

So I do hope you are all well and loosing weight easily. I aim to kick mine out the window.

235 is a lot better than where you started, Lemon! You can do this!

les: thank you for the encouragement! I'm down 2 so that's a good thing. I keep trying and that's what's important. I hope you are doing well. I see your avatar shouts 40! Good for you!

AM: doing ok with it all. Working on my gifts and it's a bit slow going kind of like my weight. Working on increasing my water working on tracking my calories and trying to get some movement into my day. It all helps. My mini goal is to go into Christmas at 229. I think it's attainable I just need to stick with what works and take my time and keep the spirits up.

Wishing you all well and best wishes for the weight falling off!

Added to: Can someone explain to me the allure of the thigh gap? I saw an article on a quasi famous person and in every dang photo I have seen of her on my news feed she's always showing off her thigh gap or her waist, but she always looks contorted int he photos she's posting. What the heck? Since when does the thigh gap become enviable to all? Even when I was thin as a teen my thighs still were together - not as much as now, but never inches apart. I'd just be happy to be in a thinner size who gives a rats patutty about inches between my thighs. Just curious, I know bodies come in all shape for sizes, but why the demand for this ridiculous achievement?

I am half a pound away from 50 pounds total loss, so I'm feeling pretty good. I'm excited for the holidays! I still need to do some shopping, though.

I don't get the thigh gap, but it's always something. I don't worry about any of it, haha.

Les: 50 off! Fantastic for you! I am happy to read that number for you. I am dropping a 1/2 lb here and there, so that keeps me motivated to keep it up. I sure wish it'd be a lot bigger, but I am hurrying to get all things done and fitting my diet in between. Still eating fairly well I guess is what I am trying to say. What are your plans for Christmas? How's the cookie baking going? I haven't begun that yet. The sewing has to get done first, then the wrapping. I need 10 of me this next week to get all accomplished!

AM: Weight is on the downward trend, so I am happy with that. Nothing huge, just slowly moving. I need to keep that focus in mind as I continue on with this. I'd love to be in the 220s by new years. That's my mini goal. Ideally I'd like 225, but I will take anything 220. I haven't been in that since DD was an infant.

Anyone have any new mini-goals or plans to gift themselves w/their loss? 'm starting to notice that my top half is getting a bit slimmer, though I still have the back fat we all dread, it's not as pronounced. I will need DH to take new photos of me so I can add them to my collection at the decade intervals. I do hope it's starting to look different. I have a pair of shorts I bought on a whim two summers ago in hopes that I could loose, well, maybe this summer will be it to fit into them. Here's to small victories!

Boy this thread has gotten way quiet - I am hopeful you all are just readying for the holiday season. Once Les looses her 30 lbs I'm afraid I won't have anyone to cheer on here.

I think I am doing well, I didn't get on the scale until after breakfast and two cups of coffee and at that point it said 232.4. So I am hopeful it's closer to 231 this am. I have been living on coffee of late - mainly for the warmup effect not necessarily the caffeine. But it does help when I am trying to get all these items done.

How do you all plan to not gnosh on the sweet items this holiday time? I have been having a bit of an issue with such. I will admit, I like sweets, but I am trying to tame the beast. Any suggestions? I have been doing better if I have my string cheese and a big jug of water when I want them, but still, there are those moments.

Wishing you all well!
