Still at 258.

At 257 again. Starting to seriously consider fasting.
|
Quantum Sheep - weren't you going on a scale-free week? ;) Trust me, I know how hard it is not to peek (and to see numbers that don't make sense for the effort you're putting in). I know there are some diet plans out there that talk about fasting, but IMHO, that just doesn't work for me. Fasting to me means I'll be hungry, weak, tired, angry, and even if I manage to go for whatever amount of time without food, when I'm "allowed" to eat I've undone any loss because I've lost control. I certainly couldn't exercise while fasting. Why not just keep doing what you're doing (which seemed to have worked, you've lost nearly 20 pounds!) and make sure you're really sticking with it for a few days, a week maybe, and leave the scale in hiding if you can? I've learned to desensitize myself to the number on the scale - I simply don't allow a tiny blip to ruin my day, my week or my progress. If you keep with it, it WILL go down. If you let it throw you into a spiral of despair, you risk losing all the forward momentum you've got going for you. Good luck!
Edited to add: I just checked out your September weigh-in post. Looks like you've been losing 2-3 pounds a week the past few weeks. I know that sometimes after a big streak of losses, I tend to see a stagnation (and I know a lot of others on these boards that see the same thing). And besides, if you're down to 257, that means you've lost over a pound in the last 10 days or so. That's great, steady loss. Losing "slow" isn't as exciting maybe, but don't discount it! |
Yes!! What jenicra said!!!

I guess I failed at avoiding the scale. I thought I could just weigh in yesterday to get a number for the Halloween challenge, but I got sucked right back in to weighing all the time. It's just really difficult when I'm working out at least an hour a day, eating about 1400 calories and still watching the scale go up instead of down. I know my body is still changing, because I'm currently wearing a shirt I couldn't wear a couple weeks ago because the front buttons were popping open. They're not popping open now. I just don't understand why the scale isn't moving. I hit 256.6 eleven days ago, so being at 257 still is really frustrating. I just want to be in the 240s. I haven't seen those in nearly 5 years.
I'm still sticking to it. The scale is really getting me down, it's true, but I'm plugging along as best I can. I'm just worried that I'm doing something wrong. People keep telling me it's muscle gain (and I am starting to look muscular), but my research tells me that I can't be gaining muscle at a rate fast enough to cancel out what should be my weight loss. ARGH. Anyway, thank you so much for responding. It's nice to have the reminder that I'm not alone in this. |
I know that if my body is sore from a good workout (or more commonly, working in the garden), the scale will be up 2-3-4 pounds for several days after. Especially if you're lifting heavy, that could be part of the equation.
And, as counterintuitive as it sounds, you might actually be a little low calorie-wise if you're working out hard an hour or more a day. I know that I tend to lose more on weeks where I eat more. I count points, not calories, but I'd estimate my calorie intake between 1500-2000/day on average (some higher, but rarely lower), and I typically get in about 6 hours of exercise a week. Just another thing to think about tweaking. Good for you for sticking with it - I'm sure your persistance will be rewarded! |
265.8 this morning.
|
259 :cheer2: Halfway!
|
I started at 269 50 days ago !! Took me forever to get below 250 it I'm down to 244 this am ! Keep on going ladies were all doing so good !
|
258.6 Hahaha. I am chucking the scale out the window.

Quantum, how is your sodium intake? For me, the scale will go up if I'm taking in too much sodium. Is that a possibility in your case? Also, I'm a fan of intermittent fasting. It's been doing my body a whole lot of good since I've been incorporating it. You should do some research on it if you think it may be a good fit for you. :)

255.6 today
I am on a roll; fitting as rolls with butter is what I have been craving lately! Diet bread with margarine is not cutting it for me - I have to decide if I want to use the points on the good stuff or get more food. I love the progress I am making.

263.8 after a night of planned drinking and cake. We'll see if that lasts or not.
|
Hello everyone, and hello 249!!! I made it!!! And I was gone this weekend and could not weigh so this is *evening* weight... I was so shocked I almost fell off the scale LOL. Farewell everyone.... not good bye because I will see all of you soon in the lower threads!! I'm outa here!!
|
Up to 266.2 for my official weigh-in this week (still a loss for the week at least). Oh well, a very high points day on Saturday and a very early weigh-in make me think I might see a drop soon.
