Well, I didn't take any of my own weight shedding advice, but I'm down 1.2 to 171.6 for the week. Like you, April Snow, I'm going slower than I had been. I haven't upped my activity, though - have been working out almost every day for months. Slow and steady wins the race . . .

Wyllowbelle 08-17-2011 12:23 PM

no movement. well - actually it's +.2

***PREPARE FOR WANK***

I'm not quite sure what else I can do. in the past month I have started walking 3 miles a day, alternating my "race walk 30 seconds, recover walk 30 seconds" walking with just my normal hilly terain 3.5 miles per hour walking. I do NIA (low impact aerobics) on the mellow walking days. I do Pilates and strength training (weights - 5lb dumbells for 15 - 20 minutes) on the Racewalking days. I work out 6 days a week. And even on the 7th, I tend to do Yoga.

I log my calories on livestrong and net between 900 - 1300 (after exercise - I'm actually eating between 1500 - 2000 daily). I drink 2.5 - 3 L of water a day. I juice my breakfast and my lunch so that I'm getting at least 50% of my intake from plants. I eat dinner (the only meat I have all day) and sometimes a few snacks (greek yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts, rarely whole grains) as solid food because I'm working out so much.

I am frustrated.

I think I'll take measurements. I KNOW there are changes happening. I just didn't expect to plateau the SECOND week of doing this. My friend Heather, who's been at this journey for at least 8 months, has dropped 45 lbs in 6 months. She told me she doesn't drop for 7 - 8 weeks at a time, then it's this huge WOOOSH. I'm not sure if I can take that, mentally. The common factor is that we both work out A LOT. so the muscle for fat thing could be happening. But man. It sucks. I'm this close to an out and out tantrum. :tantrum:

April -- LOL! Too funny!

Lin -- Still a respectable loss this week. Great job Lin!!

Wyllowbelle -- This journey is tough at times and our self talk almost always makes it harder. There are very few times where you want to live in a "bubble" but I'm begining to realize that weight loss is definitely one of those times. So many external influences alter our perspective. (i.e., how someone else is doing, whether or not others are noticing, etc.) that it sets up our expectations and we can sometimes fall short. (And trust me, I do that too...ALL the time.) Just keep doing what you're doing. Ultimately, I think most of us truly just want to be healty and you are...you're living a healthy life every day and the weight just has to catch up, which it always does.

Wyllowbelle—I’m so sorry that you are struggling. It’s good to have a weightloss/workout buddy but try not to compare yourself (easier said than done). We all walk this path differently. Every work out, every good choice is another step closer to your end-goal regardless of what the scale says. Measuring is helpful. Or try on a new goal outfit to see how much closer you are. Whatever you do, DON’T BINGE.

Hope everyone has had a great week.

Willowbelle - Any loss is a good loss...including measurement losses. I am getting ready to find a tape measurer (the kids always move them and do not put them back where they belong) and see what kind of loss I have from the tape measurer since the scale has decided to hold onto the 167 -168s for a while for me.

Lin - 1.2 is awesome!!!

My goal weight for Thanksgiving is 148.8
July 07 181.8
July 14 178.4 ~ 3.4 down 29.6 to go
July 21 177.4 ~ 4.4 down 28.6 to go

wyllow -

where are you in your cycle? not that weight loss is that straight forward anyway, but that would be a simple explanation of why they scale isn't moving at the moment.

I am down 1.4 this week. I was hoping for more since I was up last week. However, I have to remember that my body is adjusting to some big changes. I am just now hitting 2 weeks since the doc took me off of my diabetes medication. The fact that I no longer need that is a huge marker of the success of my journey. I am 3 weeks into P90X, which is a huge change in my workout schedule. I am also coming down from a serious sodium overdose from Tuesday (almost 3,500mg - smoked porkchops). So all in all, I am happy and have 0 complaints.

Happy to report that I'm down 1.8 this week. :)

My WI is tomorrow and I'm definitely expecting to be up this week. I'm already up 1/2 my loss from last week. REALLY wish I knew what my body is doing.

ShoeCrazy -- Great job! Keep that down trend going.

Envelope -- Your numbers are looking great over the long run. Keep up the good work!

Roxy -- GREAT job! Getting off that medication is definitely a huge milestone for you. Congrats on dropping some this week...you're doing great!

Sweets -- Woo hoo! Way to go!

April Snow 08-18-2011 11:30 AM

Congrats on the losses, everyone!!

I think that sometimes when you hit a new low, your body freaks out a bit and starts trying to get back to where it was. A LOT of people seem to have this kind of up and down pattern. But hang in there, I know you will break through and get back that low and beyond!

Wyllowbelle 08-18-2011 11:35 AM

Hey LooK! WI is on Thursday not Wednesday.

Aaaaaand.... I'm down a lb (and 1.2 from yesterday).

I did a naked victory lap around the bathroom this morning. (My folks have a HUGE bathroom. like I've had apartments smaller than this ridiculous thing). So I'll take it. It's just NICE to see numbers move. I know it's a fickle evil machine, but it's a drop. and even if it goes up, it usually returns to this point and drops lower. THIS gets a dancing Carrot, my friends. :carrot:

PS It's kind of sick and wrong how -1 little number can make such a difference in my mood. I'm working on perspective... really I am. I'm not sure I'll be dropping enough weight to meet my challenge goal, but I'm keeping it the same to remember the other half of that goal was to "learn my body." That means having real expectations about how this journey will look.

Thanks for the Love and the Support. You kept me saner than you realize!

-Kiki

I know you all though you had got rid of me on this thread, but no such luck. This is the one challenge I may just actually come close to winning ;)

To far behind to catch up so I'll just start this week

1oftheLuvs good job on the 1.5lbs down for the week :)

April good job on the 1.6lbs down for the week :)

Larry :congrat: on 100lbs GONE, what a victory :)

:welcome: lulu best of luck to you with your goals :)

Lin good job on the 1.2lbs down for the week :)

ShoeCrazy good job on the 1.5lbs down this week :)

envelope you are and have always done great. Keep it going Lady :)

Roxy good job on the 1.4lbs gone for the week :) Lots of victories for you also, Way to go Lady

SweetTreat good job on the 1.8lbs down for the week :)

Jami you are working out like crazy, I wouldn't let the weigh in tomorrow dampen my spirit. (I wish I had the determination that you do) You know there are great days to come, all with your name on them. :) Those people in the gym challenge had better look out

Kiki my weigh in's are like that often. The day I have to weigh in it's high the next day I have a drop, go figure. Good job on the 1.2lbs gone :) Great workouts by the way, You go Girl :)

OK I think I got everyone, to those that I may have missed keep doing what you're doing, if it's the right thing your efforts will pay off. If it happens not to be so good ... brush yourself off and start again. BTW I fall into the last category quite often, we can do this :)

Have a great day Everyone
