Gary - good luck to your daughter in the marathon!
Thanks Ennay ~ She didn't do as well as she had hoped. She has always had an issue with her left IT Band...would give her fits when she played tennis from time to time. About 2 miles in her right it band started hurting, she had to stop every mile to stretch it. We first saw her at mile 14 and she said looked good and her time was right on for her 10 min mile pace, she stopped and stretched it and told us it was bothering her but thought it would get better....but she sank back as time went on. Saw her at 21 and crossed over to see her at 23 and she was really feeling it. She ended up with a 5:18:04 which was about 45 min slower than she hoped for. But all in all she did great for her first marathon. Another cool thing, one of her friends ran 10 miles with her, 12-22, which helped. Her friend is amazing! She ran, in competition, a 5K on Friday, did a triathlon yesterday, then 10 with my kiddo today....although her pace was much slower than her norm...but way cool she came out to support my daughter.
We added up all of our miles from my daughter's condo to mile 14 then up to 21-23 and back to the condo...figure we got in 5 today....gonna log it in.
+32.5 for last week, plus another 15 for the last day of May, to end with 448 miles total!
I'm experiencing some overtraining symptoms (like exhaustion, complete lack of interest in exercise, and periodic aversion to...chocolate!), so I'm dropping weight training for the month of June. After the marathon, I'm back to a much more balanced schedule.
ennay - you make it sound like fun! im paranoid about injury but when my body is more used to running i wanna try this! i've read stories about people who say they've run everyday for 20 or so years and it always boggles my mind
diane - can you take a few days off? it doesn't sound like you're having much fun
ez - congrats to your daughter! i'm sure most people would have given up if they were facing that kind of pain

I decided I was in a much more serious place than just needing a few days off -- I've seriously never been so logy in my life as I have been the past week. Not just tired -- I was actively stupid and moving kind of funny. My weights workouts are so energetic that i was basically doing 6 heavy-duty aerobics workouts a week, with the added benefit of throwing heavy iron around as well. I'm amazed I've had any glycogen available for long-distance runs.
I don't think a month off will do too much damage to my musculature, and I'm hoping I'll be rested and rarin' to go for July.
(I also have been getting quite frustrated because my weight loss has stalled...or even reversed, and I'm not eating much more than I was. I am eating more, because I'm doing 15 mile runs, but I'm in no way, shape, or form pigging out, and yet I'm gaining weight. Which has been very frustrating! I figure I will make things a little easier on my body for the moment.)

Took last week off from running to try and recuperate my hip, but I'm still having problems. I'm going to try ~3 miles every other day and see if it improves. Thank goodness I have cycling to fall back on, or I'd be going nuts.
I woke up this morning and found out I got a new job (somewhat related to my field but a big step up from my current job) so I decided to finally purchase a bike! I came out with the Giant Avail 2 http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-ca/...en/2552/32732/ and it is amazing! I put in 20 miles on the bike then only 2.5 running since I have somewhere to be soon. My butt hurts but totally worth it!

Thanks sm177....she texted me on her break at work yesterday and said she was sore but ok...and was walking like an old lady Nice bike Congrats on the new job.
Well Angie, the girls and I went for 2 after dinner.
250/1000 MILES
1/4th of the way there....hummm....what month is this?
+ 3.11 on a treadmill today, boy I forgot how much easier a treadmill is on my body. It felt pretty darn good, though I still can feel a problem with my right hip/glute.
