Those vacation pounds are the worst souveniers ever!!! We're headed out next week and I'm actually wishing we were staying home so I could avoid the weight gain. Oh well, I guess how is as good a time as ever to learn how to eat in the "real world".

Did you have a good time??

I'm in Florida so I understand your bug observation. I have LOVEBUGS everywhere and they are NOT welcome.
I know exactly how you feel about maintaining but not being exactly at goal yet. I maintained at 145-150 for about 2 months before I kicked my butt into gear this month. It definitely wasn't easy because we're not huge anymore so there is less incentive to be super diligent.

Hopefully we both reach our ultimate goal :) Great job keeping off 65-70 lbs, that's a HUGE accomplishment because I've read that maintaining is hard too.

That's huge progress that you were able to realize you felt crappy during the indulgences. Plus, modifying your behavior while you were in the middle of it is definitely an improvement. I don't know if any of us will ever be able to turn away from temptation all of the time, but if we're turning away more often than we used to that's progress!

Best of luck to you! I had a couple of those weekends in april... it wasn't a pretty sight

At least you are back in the saddle immediately instead of a downward spiral. I'm pretty sure the majority of the weight is water retention due to sodium :D Drink lots of fluid.

You can do it! It's always hard when you go on trips when on a diet. It's okay to "loosen up" but don't lose sight of the important things. Maybe buy some healthy snacks to take with you?

Will you ever really believe it when you say you're eating the bread to feed your muscles for a long run? I know I would totally feel like I'm rationalizing, like, "Yeah, sure, I'm feeding my muscles. I'm not even enjoying these pancakes swimming in pure, golden, sweet, delicious maple syrup." lol.

How fantastic that your kids are learning that eating healthy can be tasty as well. I'm still working on mine (and my hubby) but this reminds me that they can get there.

As far as the bread, that's a scary place for me, too. I would say that when you can truly say you're eating the bread to feed your muscles for long runs vs. indulging then you're ready. Otherwise it can be a slippery slope.

Keep up the great work!
