I'm interested in BFL but I cannot afford a gym membership. Am I out of luck?

Nope, I don't go to a gym.

Krista Smash has wonderful lifting advice on her site. http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php

And I've gotten loads of good advice from the Ladies Who Lift.

I'm not saying this is the best way to go but you can certainly do a good job.

And ... we'd love to have you with us!

No gymmie here either. YOu can do it without one. Check out yard sales or thrift stores for some hand weights and you can get good cardio to start by just walking outside or doing a walking video indoors, like Walk Away the Pounds (there's even a separate forum on 3FC if you want to learn more about that).

I shovelled snow for cardio today. I'm pretty sure it's not HIIT but it was work.

I had an oops today.

I've been spot-on with workouts; then today was upper body and I somehow thought that these exercises (I think they are reverse flys? Where you lean over & pull the weights backwards like a fly?) were for the back, so I did them as my back sets, but I've never done them before & just looked it up & they were for my shoulders (rear delts, apparently)!

So I worked my shoulders way much, my back way little.

In the grand scheme of things, probably not so bad. . .but I am really tempted to stick some back exercises in before my cardio session tomorrow, just to even it all out!

It's such a good and positive sign when we want to stick just a little more of something into our workout. Fun, huh?

You're so nice & optimistic, Susan. Where the reality is just that I don't want to do anything that might possibly be messing me up or throwing me off, and I feel guilty for accidentally shorting myself on back today, and since I'm only doing back every 5th day, what will it do to me if I let that go?!?

Not to worry Su, once you get into the swing of things, your body lets you know if you've gone too long. Like, my shoulders are asking me to work them out today. Last workout was Sunday, was due yesterday but didn't get it done yet. Your back will let you know if you've gone too long! It will start talking to you with an achy little voice something like this, "work me......wooooork me......."

Hmm. I have to say I have not yet heard that little voice. But I did back weights after my 20 min HIIT sesion this morning - so I guess I am back on track! Had a not-so-great eating thing last night (Xmas party, of course), but still met my protein requirements for the day, so ok I guess.

Thanks for the laugh SB, I loved Wang Chung in college!! Ah, the 80's

UBWO today, LBWO today, 1 hour of cardio today. Clean eats all day. I am Whipped! I am much more tired and irritable on a day when my eating has been good than on a day when I have wandered and "supplemented" myself.

The shoulders that were talkin' to me yesterday to work them out are complaining about it today. They're just never happy, I tell ya! 1/2 hr cardio tomorrow and that's all, thank goodness.

I got a pm about the Wang Chung thing too.
I love music! It can inspire any number of moods ... including energy when you need it.
Upper body for me today.

I have been hanging around with Fran too long! I did a perfectly acceptable upper body workout this morning but ... I'd like to do more ... I think I will.
