CoolMom75, sounds like you're nearly on your way out though! 160s here you come!
Betty, so true, and even a no-loss week can be hiding a loss of inches, a gain of lean muscle...
I'm down another 0.7 of a pound this week - never a whole one, grrr!! But, I am closer to 170 with each part of a pound I can drop, so this is fine by me!
Hey lotsakids! I was excited to see your name on the last comment part! Welcome to the 170s!!
I've also lost 90 pounds and just hit a year on this crazy journey on July 1st. Do you find that this is becoming normality now, or still hard, or harder even?
Jenny - aaarrrghhhh! That's how it's going, lol! Thanks for asking! I'm hanging in there, but going through a bit of an adjustment period where my appetite doesn't agree with what I think I should be eating. I know how to do this, I don't know why I keep making it more difficult for myself than it needs to be. Oh well, I'll just keep plugging along!
Crappy afternoon storms have prevented me from getting my evening walks in - I usually carry the baby in a carrier and push the 3 year old in the jogging stroller, while walking the 2 dogs.
Oh, and my husband downloaded a Simpsons game for the tablet and I am becoming obsessed with it. Grrr, now I remember why I hate games.
Hey guys! I too just wanted to say a little premature 'hello' as it seems I'm going to be in this thread sometime within the next week. (Oops, please tell me I didn't just jinx myself...). lotsakids did a nice little introduction, so I'll do the same.
I am a calorie counter. I've lost almost 40 pounds in the 5 months I've been doing it, and looking to lose about 40 more! I was at 180.6 just 2 days ago, but up to 181.6 today. Seems it will level out pretty soon...Can't wait to join you all!
Jenny,
I've been low carbing since May 2013 when I was dx'd with diabetes. It has become a habit now but every once in a while I have spoiled brat days where I want everything I want. So far (mostly because of the diabetes) and because in addition to going low carb I went gluten free - I stay the course. I've blown it a couple of times but now my mindset is to get back on at the next meal. Not the next day or the next Monday or....
When I started it was to get under 200 pounds, now I'm less than 40pounds away from a "normal" weight and less than 10 pounds away from being fat instead of obese. I've figured out how to get some of my favorite foods to be low carb so it really isn't all that painful anymore.
I'm up 1.8 for the week. But I know where I went wrong so I'm picking myself up and getting back on track.
Mayo just about sums it up for me too. Good luck getting OP!
Lotsakids Welcome! My DH is gluten free and my 13 year old DD is kind of...she is with us, not when she's at her dads. DH & DD is for intolerance reasons. So by default I've gone GF on some things. Some are just way too expensive to feed a family of 4 on so I still buy both versions sometimes. I like your thought process about the next meal!
Betty I'm hoping the weather breaks for you! I haven't been getting any treadmill time in because we've been camping every weekend since. And that means 9+ hour days for me so I can leave work early the day we leave.
180 today but I made pizza last night (cauliflower crust yum) and the sodium probably bumped me up. I'm still going to post here if nothing but to keep me committed.
The weather was GREAT yesterday, so I not only had my walk, but also did some gardening.
I'm thinking of signing up for the ChristmasTown Dash at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg in December. It is an 8K (5 miles - I had to look up a conversion), and the terrain is somewhat hilly. My FIL lives in W'burg, so we could combine my run with a [very] early Xmas visit. I haven't had a chance to run it past my husband yet, but odds are he'll encourage me to do it. They also have a Family Fun Run that is 1K, so maybe he can do that with the kids, too.
Hey BettyBooty, sounds like a great plan! How are you and your family doing now?
Welcome XRiotGirl!! 40 pounds in 5 months is immense! Well done!!
Lotsakids, believe me, I know all about that spoiled brat! That's a good way to see it, focusing on the next meal - I read this article about how the 'diet starts tomorrow/next week/next month/in January mentality' is even worse for us as we then overeat before to compensate. When I think back, I used to do that all the time. That's something I feel is an achievement, that now I can get back on it. How is your diabetes now?
Mayolover, show that appetite who is boss and keep at it!!
My main problem at the moment is that I don't have much desire to eat anything savory...it gets to lunch and I feel like cereal or fruit and yogurt, and the same at dinner. I often get like this in the summer. I have to force myself to eat salad or lean meat etc just so I can get to the sweet stuff. It's not good for me I know because even healthy options like fruit pack in the sugar so I will have to control myself. At least it's better than the ice cream cravings I used to have!
Today is the 4th day in a row that I've felt like I made good choices, it feels great to string a few good days together. Relief that I'm not totally lost in this effort.
Welcome xRiotGirl - your loss is inspiring, great job! SO impressed with all of you guys who've done so well! I probably need to give up the idea of just eyeballing the food and start counting cals again to get a better handle on things.
BettyBooty - that race sounds like alot of fun, it is nice they offer multiple events so everyone can potentially participate!
lotsakids - Cauliflower crust sounds interesting, I'll have to google that. I'd love to have some pizza and not feel so guilty about it!
kidlets - I'm sure the treadmill will got lots of use in the future!
jennybutler - I love cereal, I could eat it morning, noon, and night!
Mayolover= Cauliflower crust keeps out of the pizza box! I've tweeked the recipe a couple of times depending on what I have in the house and it always works.
Jenny- my numbers when I test are pretty good, usually under 100 but I was a little peeved when my A1C (in March) showed no change even though it had been almost a year low carbing... not fair! Diabetes isn't fair no matter how you manage it. Sometimes the number just is.
