Exercise 2003
I hate to be the one to bring this up, but  we all know a little bit of exercise helps the weight loss and will leave us all toned up for the beach this summer.:flow2:
:drill: Anybody got any great plans ??:drill: I'm going to get my walking going again. I went for a walk tonight to the roundabout - very exicting ??? Took 15 minutes in the :rain: rain and sleet, was soaked and freezing when I got back. Have also done 5 minutes work with the :barbell: weights today. A slow start, but I need to tone some of these muscles. :strong: :drill: Would love to get back to the swimming on a Friday night, not always easy with Rays shifts. May try tomorrow night, if he is home at a reasonable time. |
i had the best of intentions to start my swimming tonight but have a raging ear infection, so not really the best thing for me to do. i will be off to see the doc tomorrow, hopefully get it cleared up in a few days......owwwww!
I fully intend to get back on my strider. Starting with 20 mins a day and building back up to 30
I did manage seven whole minute jiggling about on the trampoline...got a sweat going and then crumpled in a big fat heap! I'll build up slowly but surely :)
Been for another 15 minute walk, got home just as cold, but not soaked through this time
Swimming has just become so easy.
Sean and Steven used to have their swimming lessons one after the other, they are at different stages as Steven had to be 5 before he could start, something to do with insurance. But Steven is going up a class and now takes his lessons on a Thursday, while Sean has his on a Wednesday. It was either that or spend nearly 2 hours hanging around at the pool on a Wednesday, not a lot of fun. But it does mean I can go for a swim with Sean one day and with Steven the next. 2 x 30 minutes swimming sessions a week, for the next 8 weeks anyway - I can't wait I want to go right now not in 2 days !!!! Am going to keep the lunch time walking going too, I am going to build it up to a mile. One day when the weather is really bad, I'll drive around and measure some of the routes I walk. I do want to start my exercise tapes again, need to find the motivation to get out of bed early though. This weeks plan Tues - 30 min walk Wed - 30 min walk & 30 min swim Thur - 30 min walk & 30 min swim Fri - 30 min walk & 10 mins of stretches Sat - walk Sun - rest Mon - 30 min walk & 10 mins of stretches Seems a lot when I write it down. Will build myself up this week to dust of an exercise video. |
My Plan is to use the gym upstairs and get my money's worth outta that darned expensive treadmill that i begged for last year  it's not like i don't like it..i  it..but..for some reason i just won't get my lazy arse up there to do it. I took the VCR out of the bedroom today and rigged it up in the gym so i have no excuse not to use an exercise tape..even if it is'nt the "FIRM"
I had a new bike for christmas so am going to cycle each day. Also i have to walk the dog each day so am going to start with 20 minutes and slowly build it up. Also intend to do an exercise tape 2 or 3 times a week.
I intend to do something once I can walk in a straight line. At the moment taking H to school and collecting him is a task. Ear problem is affecting my balance, haven't been on the wine honest!!
Went for another walk in the freezing cold at lunchtime, was invigorating and probably the quickest I've walked to the town and back - was absolutely freezing.
But I did feel better for it - honestly !!!!! |
Went for a walk at lunchtime followed by a 30 minute swim this evening. Besides being all very energetic at work.
I will definately sleep tonight |
I did 4 miles on my treadmill and 30 mins on my exercise bike..i should really get my 'real' bike out and get out in the sun before this beautiful weather changes :)
I managed to walk into town yesterday in the snow, and back. I did feel better for it too. Can't wait to feel better and get back into the swing of things.
Well reading all your replies - I really must start getting some exercise. I'm the world's worst, hate exercise, but know I should do some.
i walk my daughter to school, its only about 7 mins each way, but I do that twice a day - so it's a start. We bought an all singing, all dancing exercise machine last year off one of the shopping channels, and the idea is you get a full body workout in 4, yes 4, minutes a day (I'm starting to sound like the advert!). We had to move it into the garage to make some space for lots of Christmas visitors, but I'll get my hubby to drag it back out again - as it wasn't too bad to use, hard work, but only 4 minutes, it's not too much to commit to - I'm absolutely exhausted afterwards though!!:dizzy: |
7 minutes each way is a good start. I am a firm believe of anything other that sitting vegging out on the couch is good for us.
Having said that I haven't been for my walk today. I just back in from one of the other offices, did give me a chance to measure my usual walk in the car. If I walk down to the town, turn round and coem straight back, I walk a mile a day. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. I will still be going swimming tonight, no excuses. |
Been walking again today, doc gave me more antibiotics and a note for a week so off next week too, lets hope I am fighting fit by then. Not writing too much cos have kept losing my posts all day, fine this morning then'page not available' when I submit reply, anyone else having problems?
Nope, no probs posting here TQ....have you lost your cookies by chance (that sounds funny)! Sometimes I can't post and have to re-do the options thingy cos someone has eaten the cokkies or something daft like that...Dave always says it's not him too! Glad to hear you're walking and is it in a straight line yet luv?
Nearly straight but a bit wobbly.....but then aren't I always :)
Don't think that is anything to do with the ear problem, more likely due to the wine. I've read stories about women sitting at home all day.
Been for a swim, am absolutely knacked. |
Wine :?: must be well off...whatsup wi' beer ? that's all i've got :dizzy: i 'walked' for 3 miles..'rode' for 20 mins..and did about 10 minutes of that new pilates tape  too much for me..my shin will never meet my head  unless i go A over T.
Am no good at pilates or yoga or anything like that.
Have hurt my back lying on the couch, only I could do that. It will ease as I move around - surely. Walked my mile today, keep hoping it will do me some good |
Whose hubby ended up on the floor trying to do one of their wives exercise tape a while back and ended up falling and laying (naked)? on the floor covered in potpourri? I remember reading about it ages ago and being in hysterics, it was a well funny story :)
I have wrestled an angry three year old who is built like buddha, about six times today, can I cound that as exercise? |
It sounds like exercise to me Chris  did about an hour of assorted exercise tapes today and 3 miles on my treadmill.
Theres a free pilates dvd in the daily mail tomorrow....of course I will be getting it....might even watch it!!
Didn't do any exercise yesterday.
Have no idea what we are doing today, if it involves a lot of vegging out I will escape for a walk to burn of some of the wine I drank last night |
Did get the dvd didn't even watch it!! Must try harder.
Did'nt exercise yesterday unless you count stacking firewood ;)
We have just been for a long walk and fed the birds and squirrels, the pond is frozen, come home to a lovely hot peppermint drink (would rather have lovely steaming mug of chocolate and biscuits!!) That will do for today it will be back to the Monopoly board all too soon....yawn.
Walked for a whole 10 minutes, had to fight against the wind on the way back, does that burn more calories ???
Walked for 5 miles on my treadmill today :D tried to make up a bit for missing a day ;)
Way to go Cathy
You are superstars!! i have walked around the shops for 2 and a half hours, does it count??
Course it counts TQ :D
I've just rejoined this site after a 3 month absence and am seriously thinking about exercise.
I currently walk my daughter to and from school and swimming (and to the nursery at work) for 1 hour 20 mins on a monday 1 hour on a Tuesday, wed, thurs, fri This is all the exercise I currently get. I would like to start using an exercise video and wonder which ones you would all recommend as being very good for someone very unfit who needs to lose upwards of 100lb. I do have Mr Motivators BLT2 from several years ago but was wondering about something new that would feel a bit special because it was new. BTW, has anyone tried these exercise balls? And if so what is your opinion? I was also wondering about re-bounders but not sure if I want to keep hitting myself in the face with my stomach. How fit do you need to be to use one effectively and do you just jump up and down or is it a bit more technical than that? Any input would be appreciated!:) |
I like the lorraine kelly videos.
What about borrowing some from the library until you find one that suits you. I think the exercise balls look like fun, but I wonder how long I would use it before it ended up in the garage with everything else gathering dust. I haven't tried rebounding either, like my boobs where they are, not on the ceiling. :) :) :) No exercise today, although I was very active at work. Didn't walk because of the rain, will go out tomorrow, what ever the weather. No excuses |
Rebounders are great but like all equipment are only any use if used to exercise on and not store your clothes/odds and ends etc on. Mine is still in the garage but will be back in the house and in use before the end of the week.
You can get videos to do specific exercises on or you can just stick on a favourite cd and dance around. |
I jog and jump on my rebounder while watching telly, makes me keep my mind busy and then I don't realise I'm working out. I like the rebounder cos it's soft on the joints and since starting on my weight loss journey, I've not had much luck with my joints at all. I did look at some video's that went with them, BPB sent me a link, somewhere on this thread to veiw, but they really looked like too hard work for my liking...
I've popped in!
Hi
I have not been here for a while but I can tell you that I am still struggling as much as ever... in fact more. I am currently 1/2 stone heavier than I was last time I visited. I just cannot lose this weight and I am sure that the main reason is due to lack of exercise. I work in a school office and although I don't sit for long periods I don't move around too much. This means that when I diet, the loss is slow, so slow that I lose patience before I lose the weight. I have tried all kinds of diets BUT they all allow me to eat too much in comparison to my calorie output but if I eat much less I am really starving, it is a "chicken and egg" situation. I am like most of you, I really don't like exercise. When I was slim, it was so easy. I played sqush, badminton and did 3 classes of aerobics per week but it gets hard as you get older. You drop the classes one at a time until you are doing none, which does your weigh a power of good!!!. Anyway, my main reason for posting here is to tell you about a new exercise tape I got just before Xmas. Its a walking tape and is therfore a little more gentle BUT very effective. I use that and my rebounder and that does keep my interest a litle longer. I still need no excuse at all not to do it but it may do some of you some good knowing about it. It is the Leslie Sansone 2 mile walk but you can stop at one mile. Basically its very low impact and does not require too much space. 2 miles takes about 20 minutes, I keep telling myself that 20 minutes out of a day is nothing if I am to achieve weight loss, but I don't always convince myself. I hope you find this of some interest. J |
Walked another 3 miles on my treadmill last night :D i tend to use this the most..i really should try to incorporate some weightlifting into my routine to vary it a bit.
Well done everyone, the walking tape sounds good Jano, great to hear from you. I have cleaned my upstairs, polished furniture and floors etc, that orange stuff does make my hands sore though. Really should try to get into Marigolds.
