Smiling Sal 04-01-2003 08:17 AM

Had a lazy weekend and a stressful Monday. Have walked 1.2 miles at lunhtime today

Smiling Sal 04-01-2003 08:20 AM

Forgot to mention I walked 18.3 miles last week in my 20 mile challenge - am going to have an easier week thsi week adn only aim to reach 15, am off to a slow start

cat90 04-01-2003 06:28 PM

Yaaayy..great job Carol :cp: i walked 3 miles on the 'mountain' program today ;)

Smiling Sal 04-02-2003 06:12 AM

doen nothing so far today. Although it is only 12 noon.

Have cleared a space in my room so I can do the aerobics vids in there out of the way. Just need to set up the video and there will be no stopping me

Smiling Sal 04-03-2003 07:33 AM

Well I didn't manage the exercise tape, to busy making cakes. Walked 1.6 miles yesterday lunchtime and 1.5 miles today, am at a grand total of 4.5 miles for the week so far - not like me. Will need to go for a long walk at the weekend to try and catch up a little bit.

Need to get the tapes going again, can feel a difference in my skin tone on my tummy already, the stretch marks are much more visible again.

have no kids from Tuesday night until Friday night next week, so I have no excuse not to get the exercise back upto standard.

After that I am away for a few days with friends and then when I come back I will be in a new exercise regime. I will walk, swim at least once a week for me and aerobic tapes at least twice a week. Still need to work all the details out in my head, but I am going to be so fit come the summer it will be unbeliveable.

Smiling Sal 04-04-2003 03:33 PM

Walked 1.2 miles at lunchtime and then 2.4 this evening getting better, week total standing at over 10 miles now, still leaves 4 and a big bit to do before Monday morning, don't see it happenning but I am getting closer.

Still no aerobics

teel 04-04-2003 04:41 PM

Mmmmmmn! I am not sure at all if this counts as excercise... but this morning I went along to our nearest leisure centre to have a jacuzzi.. ..there was no-one else in there at the time for the whole 20minutes so I did a few leg excercises and general movements, in the hopes that the muscles would feel more toned without straining them in the water..:smug: ..I guess you'd have to do the tiny bit I did several hundred times over to call it an aerobic work-out, but I did enjoy myself, which is what counts as important as far as I am concerned!!!

Have a good weekend, everyone, keep safe!

;) :cb: :dancer::drill: :balloons:

Smiling Sal 04-05-2003 02:58 AM

Sounds good to me teel, in my book any extra movement counts

Am determined to do some aerobics today

Am also determined to make an exercise plan for next week - if I write it down I tend to stick to it - usually !!!

BritinNJ 04-05-2003 08:13 PM

HI girls, let me just say I LOVE CURVES!!! I have been twice now, my first try was Friday night when the girls showed us how to use all the machines, I enjoyed it so much, I actually felt wonderful and fit, cos I wasn't puffed out. I went again this morning and was amazed how quickly the thirty minutes goes by. All the women there today, (it was busy) were so friendly and happy, made me feel right at home standing or working a machine next to them. You do some stretching exercises after the circuit to keep you muscles from cramping, you just do them in the middle of the floor and I felt a bit self concious at first thinking all the women were staring at me, but they weren't so I just got on with them. My friend and I have plans to go Mon, Weds, Fri and Saturdays as that'll fit in with our lives. You can only go the max of five times a week cos you need rest days, so I think this should work out good. Went for a BBQ down the roads with this same friend and her family tonight, she said she feels thinner already, and I had to agree, I do too. I FEEL GOOD :)

Smiling Sal 04-06-2003 01:51 PM

Good for you Chris.

Went for a 3.5 mile walk last night, weekly total standing at 14.2 miles, don't see it going any higher tonight - I am exhausted

Smiling Sal 04-11-2003 02:06 PM

Have walked just over 10 miles this week, so far and still have to Sunday night to go, am determined to make my 15 miles this week, was 0.7miles short last week.

Have brought a new exercise vid, a salsa dancing one. Am still trying to workout a realistic exercise plan for when I come back from holiday next Friday. Am looking for something workable that I will stick to. Am determined I will still be walking and the plan will include swimming

Might even log it here so you can keep me on the strtaight and narrow

cat90 04-15-2003 08:39 PM

Finally got on my treadmill :cp: the first time in 8 days  i'll have to make sure i do some daily again :D

BritinNJ 04-16-2003 07:14 AM

Keep it up Cathy, you always walk a million miles when you get on the treadmill.
I am still loving Curves. Am managing four times a week so far, which works in with my life.
I get weighed and measured there once a month so will report anything on that note, next month (after my holiday which I hope I don't do too much damage on).

cat90 04-16-2003 11:57 AM

I like the ad for Curves Chris :) no supermodels..just average looking moms trying to lose weight..is it like that for real?

BritinNJ 04-16-2003 05:36 PM

Oh yes Cathy, everyone there usually has some definite curves on them. Makes you not feel so alone if you're jogging on the spot or doing the machines and something wobbles. I have a seen a few young girls come in there and they are obviously very fit already and want to stay that way which is admirable. I love the fact that it women only, some of them have a chat now when we go in but some keep to themselves, but on the whole it's been a very friendly experience. I am off for another session there in a few. felt very tired earlier after work, but am raring to go now, and I do find it really is giving me the extra energy I need to get through the days.

cat90 04-17-2003 02:38 PM

:cp: woohoo..good for you Chris..thats the bonus..the extra energy :) i find exercise does that for me too. I was out all day yesterday with hubby so missed a routine..plan on treadmilling later ;)

cat90 04-18-2003 10:12 PM

Did'nt do any exercise so that was 2 days missed :( did some today though :)

Smiling Sal 04-22-2003 08:58 AM

walked 1.6 miles at lunchtime my first exercsie in over a week !!!

cat90 04-22-2003 12:55 PM

:cp: good job Carol...i did'nt exercise on Saturday but walked/jogged for just over 2mls the last 2 days :)

Smiling Sal 04-23-2003 06:25 AM

Did the warm up of my salsa exercise tape yesterday. Only took 8 minutes, but it was too much fun to be good for me.

Will be walking shortly in the sunshine

cat90 04-23-2003 12:27 PM

Walked/Jogged 3.35mls yesterday :D

Smiling Sal 04-24-2003 08:30 AM

walked 2.9 miles yesterday.

Have walked 3 miles today. 2.1 first thing this morning and 0.9 in the freezing cold at lunchtime.

Am desperate to do some aerobics tonight.

Smiling Sal 04-24-2003 08:32 AM

Ray put a double socket in the bedroom last night so I can run teh aerobics vids through there in peace and quiet. So now I have no excuses

cat90 04-24-2003 01:25 PM

2.30mls yesterday..had to go shopping so had to cut it short :(

Smiling Sal 05-04-2003 01:13 PM

Had to bring this one back up - no excuses

On Thursday I walked 1.1 miles

On Friday I walked 1.9 miles

On Saturday I did 25 minutes of Lorraine Kelly aerobics vid

Today I have taken the boys swimming, was more of a splash around than a proper swim, but was better than sitting on the couch doing nothing.
I've also done a pile of ironing, must have burnt some cals with that - please tell me I have.
Am going to do the warm up / cool down to the salsa video is good fun.

Am thinking about doing the swim for life, you have to commit to swimming a multiple of 22 miles between now and the end of December. 50 lengths of the local pool would give me 1 mile, could I do that 22 times between now and the new year. Am thinking long and hard about it at the moment. best not leave it too long though. Time is the problem as opposed to the swimming.

BritinNJ 05-04-2003 01:18 PM

Carol luv, sounds like you're back on tracah even if you haven't managed to get outside right now. Well done.
Your talk for Scotland on the other page was brill, you are an ispiration with your ways of thinking :)
I have been avidly going to Curves still anad am still loving it. I got weighed and measured yesterday (they do this once a month). ANd I am VERY proud to say that I have lost five and a half pounds in weight (although I follow my own weekly weigh in so there's doesn't really count for me) and I have lost a total of ten and a ahlf inches altogtehr adding up the losses from the boobies, tum, hips thighs and arms. I am really chuffed...even got a sticker that said great job! LOL! I can feel the difference in my clothes, and in my energy level, so I reckon Curves and following points is the way for me to be a slim jim in the near future.
Have a great week everyone.

cat90 05-04-2003 02:20 PM

Yaaayy :cp: Chris that is fantastic! i'm so glad that you are loving it..Carol you are back with a vengeance  and i'm sure you can do the 'swim' ;) we all know what you are capable of when you set your mind to it :)
I have'nt done any exercise for a week now..unless you count yard work..painting..planting and weedeating  and my muscles hurt enough so it sure felt like exercise

Smiling Sal 05-04-2003 02:45 PM

Well done Chris - I measured myself last September haven't been near a tape measure since.

If I ever find the book I wrote it all down in I can do a comparison

leigh-r 05-04-2003 03:57 PM

I keep forgetting about this thread. Six weeks ago I started setting myself weekly exercise challenges involving my strider. I am working my way up to using it for 150mins per week. I started off at 50mins per week and I add 10mins each week. My current week sees me on 100mins. I start the challenge the day after I am weighed and ensure all my minutes are done before I go for the next weigh-in. And it seems to be working, I just need a bit of structure. This week I have also started jogging on the spot. It isn't much, I started with 2 mins and each time I do it I am aiming to do an extra minute. My last attempt was 4 mins and I managed it. I feel to conscious of my size to go and jog round the block at the moment. But I am definitely getting fitter as after 10mins on the strider I would be out of breath, but most of the time now I do 15min straight stints on it. And I am not particularly out of puff when I do my few minutes jogging on the spot. Also I try to walk the dog when the weather is nice, but the poor old dog is knackered after 15mins and pulling me back to the car!! But never mind every little helps and I wouldn't want to walk without the dog for protection (not a very nice area where I live).

cat90 05-07-2003 02:03 PM

Great Job leigh-r :cp: i have'nt done any exercise apart from what i'm getting outside  but i did open those new Pilates tapes yesterday and have a go at that  hmmm :chin: hopefully i'll get better with practice ;)

Smiling Sal 05-07-2003 04:08 PM

Haven't done any exercise so far this week, apart from a 1.6 mile walk yesterday lunchtime.

Need to get my butt in gear

BritinNJ 05-07-2003 04:08 PM

Cathy, I tried the Pilates tape a couple of times, felt like I was trying to be a contortionist....so I figure I stay with Curves for now, maybe I'll try them again when I'm more limber? :)

cat90 05-07-2003 09:17 PM

Tell me about it Chris..i tried to do a little of the advanced workout today and you have to lie on the floor lift your legs right over your head and put your feet on the floor behind you  they had finished the set before i'd even gotten my arse off the floor  think i'll just practice with the basics for a bit.
Today i did 3.15mls on my treadmill..15 mins of weights and 10 mins of trying to do myself an injury.

BritinNJ 05-07-2003 09:40 PM

LOL Cathy, I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a bit of trouble with it luv. I have to laugh cos the people on the video don't even break into a sweat and I am puffing and panting whilst trying to contort my body and like you say, by the time they've finished a set, I'm not even in the first position and that's the end of me. And all the time they do it, they keep saying to breathe evenly, it's definitely a multi task programme to follow....

Smiling Sal 05-08-2003 06:07 AM

Used to be able to put my feet over my head and touch the ground when I was very very young. Doubt I could get them anywhere near my head now.

Stick to the treadmill and TV, sounds a less painful alternative to me.

Glad your still enjoy curves Chris, am dead jealous
