I still have no snow. I am in Scotland, we are supposed to get the snow, but we have had none this winter at all !!!!!!!!! :(:(:

You all had snow a few weeks ago - isn't fair {stamps foot in huff} {and again for affect}

Not exericising today, too busy beign in the huff

cat90 01-31-2003 04:54 PM

3 miles of basic walking today :)

Smiling Sal 02-01-2003 04:51 AM

Cathy, you are amazing. Keep this up and you'll be walking marathons come the summer.

I am hoping for a walk or a bike ride later on, depends on the boys. I know I could take them swimming, but am saving that for tomorrow. The pair of them missed football training this morning, as we slept in. So need to get them moving today, for a short while anyway.

If I'm home alone tonight, I am planning on doing my lorraine kelly video again. I missed it yesterday morning as things didn't go according to plan.

tupperware queen 02-01-2003 05:06 AM

test

cat90 02-01-2003 12:52 PM

Carol..i've been thinking about that :D i only walk fast at the moment with an occasional spurt of jogging and i feel so energised while i'm doing it :) i would love to be able to eventually jog if not run for some considerable distance :D to take part in a small marathon would be great :cp:

Smiling Sal 02-01-2003 02:04 PM

I can't run or jog the length of myself, would like to be able to run further, maybe it'll come as the weight goes down.

I could walk forever though, so maybe I'll just enter and walk an entire marathon ?

cat90 02-01-2003 05:10 PM

We can both enter together then :D i 'went' 4 miles today :)

Smiling Sal 02-02-2003 04:31 PM

Took the boys swimming, more of a splash around, but better than nothing

Need to get my act together and get walking.

teel 02-02-2003 05:38 PM

I have found a treadmill in the Argos catalogue...!!!!!!!

I wonder how long before I decide to "find it" in my house?  :cb:

cat90 02-02-2003 06:18 PM

Teel..what do they cost over there :?: is it a good one with all the options :?: power incline..preset programs? mine cost a bomb so i have to use it  otherwise face the wrath of hubby..by wrath i mean tutting and

Smiling Sal 02-03-2003 04:21 PM

Not done any exercise today - :(

Am going to get up early tomorrow morning and do 30 minutes of aerobics - am looking forward to it - how sad is that :) :) :)

cat90 02-03-2003 10:28 PM

Worked hard today..did 3 miles on my "user program" one that you program in yourself..on this one i start at 3mls per hr at 0% incline :) then every minute the incline increases along with the speed until i reach 15% incline  and then come down again..it is one rocking workout :D

Smiling Sal 02-04-2003 04:21 PM

Couldn't get out bed this morning - whoops.

Walked for 30 minutes in the snow, sure it burns more cals - will try for tomorrow morning for the aerobics, depends how comfy the bed is though

cat90 02-04-2003 09:07 PM

4 miles of hill walking today :D

Smiling Sal 02-07-2003 07:53 AM

Wed walked and went swimming
Thurs - walked
Friday - walked - too fast have knocked the stuffing out of myself

Smiling Sal 02-08-2003 03:35 AM

Housework will be the exercise of the day, followed by 30 minutes of aerobics if I can get everyone out of the livingroom later

tupperware queen 02-08-2003 06:19 AM

My 'ear bandit' has arrived this morning, swimming will commence on Monday no matter how tired/cold etc I am feeling!!

cat90 02-08-2003 01:57 PM

3.25 miles on Weds, 3 miles on Thurs, 4 miles on Fri. :D

BritinNJ 02-08-2003 05:06 PM

TQ, What is an ear bandit??? Sounds interesting. Cat....you are a walkaholic luv, you are brilliant putting all those miles on you. Carol, housework must count as exercise, I do enough of it to count I swear. And I've worked a sweat up doing some of it at times too!

Smiling Sal 02-09-2003 03:44 AM

Am just physcing myself up to go for a walk. Not sure whether to go for the 3 mile round circuit or whether just to walk up to the Co op do some shopping and walk back, a mere 2 miles.

Will need to get dressed first, as snuggly as my dressing gown is think people will laugh at me

cat90 02-09-2003 01:25 PM

 i don't know Carol..could be quite the fashion statement :D i was naughty yesterday and took a day off :o think it was the after effects of friday's booze really  will do some today :D

tupperware queen 02-09-2003 02:55 PM

An ear band-it is like as neoprene band that helps to keep water out of your ears when swimming, you can see it on earbandit.com, I hope nobody laughs at me in it!! I am trying to prevent a re-occerence of the ear infection from ****:)

BritinNJ 02-09-2003 08:58 PM

TQ, if anyone laughs at you, use your ear bandit like a big rubber band and flick it at em luv. Jusat know that you're the only one that matter's and your balance too. :)

Smiling Sal 02-10-2003 01:09 PM

If it's the 'betty's' in the pool who laugh (betty equals woman swimming in full makeup and hair still perfect) please swim past doing a splashy stroke and give them a big soak from all of us.

Went for a lovely 2 mile walk yesterday morning and then a hike with the boys, must have been at least another 2 miles, but it was over rough terrain. Was just lovelyin the sunshine

Went for a walk in a downpour at lunchtime today.

Why can't this weather be consistent, and by that Iwant yesterdays sunshine back not more of todays rain.

Arwen 02-10-2003 04:43 PM

A mystery

OK so two weeks ago I couldn't do an ab-crunch come love or money but since than have been doing some pilates exercises to build up stomach muscles, not much though. On thursday I was walking past the ab-cruncher and thought I'd give it another go and did 50, could feel the burn as I did them and nothing else hurt so thought I must be doing them correctly. I thought I wouldn't be able to move the next morning but I was in no pain at all so did 50 on Friday, 75 saturday and sunday and 100 just. Still no pain. So what is happening? Surely something should hurt? My husband says I must be doing them wrong but he watched me and said I seemed to be doing them OK and as I pointed out, surely if I was doing them wrong something else would hurt? When I've done them before its always been my neck muscles that have taken the brunt but they are OK too. I'm just wondering if anyone else thinks this is normal or could it mean I'm doing them wrong?

I would be grateful for any advice. I'm more than happy to keep doing them but would like to feel a bit more confident that I'm doing them correctly!

Thanks

tupperware queen 02-10-2003 05:16 PM

I did it i went swimming, 45 minutes in my ear bandit !! Got a few strange looks, my mate said it made me look 'sporty' ha ha . First time ever in my life!

cat90 02-11-2003 02:10 PM

Helen..the pilates must have strengthened your muscles enough so that you are past the pain..if you know what i mean :spin: when you first did the pilates did it hurt a little? if it did then you probably worked all the muscles in your midsection..the same muscles you would use to do a sit-up..if you had'nt been doing the pilates first and just done the sit-ups you would have probably been sore like you are expecting to be now...hope this makes sense :)

TQ..we'll have to re-name you ZORRO

Arwen 02-11-2003 03:45 PM

TQ, you should go swimming with me - everyone will be giving me and my stomach strange looks and won't even notice your ear-bandit:)

Went to Aerobics this morning and we have all requested they keep this course going after half-term. It was initially only for 6 weeks. Its sounding hopeful. I suggested we had 1 hour on a mon, tue and wed morning but maybe I'm just being obsessive!

Swimming this afternoon was a real pain. My friend and I were aiming for 32 lengths but it was really busy. I ended up doing 1/2 lengths so I wasn't encroaching on the busy end of the pool but had already been slowed down enough that I only managed 25 lengths. I'm a really slow swimmer anyway so couldn't get out of everyones way or swim round them quickly enough and I'm not confident enough to swim away from the side. I do a special stroke I invented myself called "underwater crawl". My husband says its doggy paddle!

Cathy, yes the Pilates killed when I first started doing them, I can't believe such a little exercise could make such a big difference in such a short time. Did mention this "problem" to the aerobics teacher and she said it sounded fine to her and that I should stop crunching when I feel the burn. I'm sure I can feel and see a difference already between my bust and waist and have lost 1 1/2 inches of my waist though I've only lost 11lb and only been exercising a bit for 3 weeks now.

Smiling Sal 02-12-2003 01:39 PM

Well done on the inch loss Helen, keep up the good work.

And to TQ for the swimming, I'm off to do a few lengths shortly whilst Sean is in his swimming lesson.

Got up at 6:40 and did 30 minutes of Lorraine Kelly's second aerobic tape, then walked at lunchtime and still the swimming to come, plus all the times I ran up and down the stairs at work today. Will definately sleep tonight.

cat90 02-12-2003 01:50 PM

walked 3 miles on monday and tuesday will do same today (hillwalking) :)

cat90 02-12-2003 05:20 PM

i fibbed..i did 4 miles today :)

Smiling Sal 02-14-2003 04:12 AM

Swam last night - another half hour stint.

Also got up early adn did some callanetics. For somethign that doesn't involve a lot of movement it is a killer. I only did the warm up, the first stomach exercise and the cool down, that took 25 minutes and I ache - must be doing me good ???

No walk yesterday

Plan for today is a walk, my 3rd 30 minutes aerobics session of the week and natural calorie usage through house work.

Smiling Sal 02-14-2003 04:14 AM

Exercise plan for this coming week

Sat - walk
Sun - nothing
Monday - aerobics & walk
Tuesday - callanetics & walk
Wednesday - swim & walk
Thursday - swim & walk
Friday - aerobics & walk
Sat - walk
Sun - nothing

There I've put it in writing now, gotta stick to it :gulp

cat90 02-14-2003 01:35 PM

i tried my Callanetics tape ONCE  i think some of the "poses" are hard to get into..do you find that Carol? but it does work the 72yr old on my tape has a better body than me :yikes:  and it shows before and after pic's..after 19 hours the pic's were incredible..maybe i should give it another whirl :chin:

Arwen 02-14-2003 02:36 PM

I haven't tried callenetics. I bought the new Yogalates video two weeks ago but can't do it. I tried it but my stomach keeps getting in the way when I'm trying to get into certain positions, especially ones where you are supposed to hold your knees into your chest. I think I shall have to put it away for now and try again when I'm about another 3 or 4 stone lighter.

Would I have the same problem with callenetics?

cat90 02-14-2003 02:59 PM

Not neccessarily..if you can't do them she shows you another option that is'nt as hard for you to do until you get more flexible :D

Smiling Sal 02-15-2003 04:34 AM

Yes the poses in calanetics are impossible, am working my way through the tape slowly. Only managed one stomach exercise last time, couldn't face the second where you have one leg up in the air, not straight, your buttock still on the floor, chin on chest and roll up your shoulders, and then move forward half an inch - didn't even manage to get in to postion before they had done all 100 moves - maybe next time.

It is a big scunner when the 72 year old has a better body, but I'm working on it !!

Have a yoga tape too, but can't even attempt that one yet, as you say Helen maybe when we are a bit lighter, my tummy keeps getting in the way at the moment.

Smiling Sal 02-15-2003 11:00 AM

Have just been for a 3 mile walk in the glorious sunshine - was really good.

Smiling Sal 02-23-2003 09:20 AM

Have done lots of exercise this week, been for lots of walks and swam and done areobics and callanetics and boy do my stomach muscles know all about it.

Went for a lovely walk to the co-op this morning and then carried a whole load of shopping back in my rucksack. So doing weights as well

cat90 02-23-2003 04:12 PM

i walked 4 miles on my treadmill yesterday after taking 3 days off
