I've just rejoined this site after a 3 month absence and am seriously thinking about exercise.

I currently walk my daughter to and from school and swimming (and to the nursery at work) for

1 hour 20 mins on a monday
1 hour on a Tuesday, wed, thurs, fri

This is all the exercise I currently get. I would like to start using an exercise video and wonder which ones you would all recommend as being very good for someone very unfit who needs to lose upwards of 100lb.

I do have Mr Motivators BLT2 from several years ago but was wondering about something new that would feel a bit special because it was new.

BTW, has anyone tried these exercise balls? And if so what is your opinion?

I was also wondering about re-bounders but not sure if I want to keep hitting myself in the face with my stomach. How fit do you need to be to use one effectively and do you just jump up and down or is it a bit more technical than that?

Any input would be appreciated!

I like the lorraine kelly videos.

What about borrowing some from the library until you find one that suits you.

I think the exercise balls look like fun, but I wonder how long I would use it before it ended up in the garage with everything else gathering dust.

I haven't tried rebounding either, like my boobs where they are, not on the ceiling.

No exercise today, although I was very active at work. Didn't walk because of the rain, will go out tomorrow, what ever the weather. No excuses

Rebounders are great but like all equipment are only any use if used to exercise on and not store your clothes/odds and ends etc on. Mine is still in the garage but will be back in the house and in use before the end of the week.
You can get videos to do specific exercises on or you can just stick on a favourite cd and dance around.

I jog and jump on my rebounder while watching telly, makes me keep my mind busy and then I don't realise I'm working out. I like the rebounder cos it's soft on the joints and since starting on my weight loss journey, I've not had much luck with my joints at all. I did look at some video's that went with them, BPB sent me a link, somewhere on this thread to veiw, but they really looked like too hard work for my liking...

Default I've popped in!

Hi

I have not been here for a while but I can tell you that I am still struggling as much as ever... in fact more. I am currently 1/2 stone heavier than I was last time I visited. I just cannot lose this weight and I am sure that the main reason is due to lack of exercise.

I work in a school office and although I don't sit for long periods I don't move around too much. This means that when I diet, the loss is slow, so slow that I lose patience before I lose the weight.

I have tried all kinds of diets BUT they all allow me to eat too much in comparison to my calorie output but if I eat much less I am really starving, it is a "chicken and egg" situation.

I am like most of you, I really don't like exercise. When I was slim, it was so easy. I played sqush, badminton and did 3 classes of aerobics per week but it gets hard as you get older. You drop the classes one at a time until you are doing none, which does your weigh a power of good!!!.

Anyway, my main reason for posting here is to tell you about a new exercise tape I got just before Xmas. Its a walking tape and is therfore a little more gentle BUT very effective. I use that and my rebounder and that does keep my interest a litle longer. I still need no excuse at all not to do it but it may do some of you some good knowing about it. It is the Leslie Sansone 2 mile walk but you can stop at one mile. Basically its very low impact and does not require too much space. 2 miles takes about 20 minutes, I keep telling myself that 20 minutes out of a day is nothing if I am to achieve weight loss, but I don't always convince myself.

I hope you find this of some interest.

J

Well done everyone, the walking tape sounds good Jano, great to hear from you. I have cleaned my upstairs, polished furniture and floors etc, that orange stuff does make my hands sore though. Really should try to get into Marigolds.

No walk today, weather was just too bad. Am going swimming tonight when Sean is at his swimming lesson, but will need to take Steven in the water with me as Ray is working.

So no 'real' exercise today
