I thought dogs would automatically know which way to stand to have a tiddle in a high wind - George didn't - he got a face full! Typical George.....

Well... you have your induction (is that a fitness assessment?) and then tell us what it was like - then I will make up my mind whether I'm brave enough...

(I loved that bit in the second Bridget Jones book when she had her fitness assessment - all those purple crosses - and then having to get undressed in front of Mark Darcy.)

I'll have to enquire if there's a waiting list for inductions at my new local Leisure Centre... if there is I'll book myself in and it'll give me a target to aim for! It'll have to be at least two weeks - long enough for me to fit with comfort in to my new leotard and other gym stuff .... well that's my excuse!

I've got to go for my proper top to toe fostering medical soon .... not looking forward to that at all! I hate being prodded about!

You put me to shame. Can someone come round and work out with me? Think I need an exercise buddy just to get me going again. Would be like being 7 again when my pals used to come to the door so we could 'chum' each other places.

Must get a plan written. And get out for that walk at lunchtime tomorrow.

Just realised I've made a big mistake - I have shoulder length hair that takes a lot of conditioning, have given it a special heat treatment tonight and just realised I'm taking the boys swimming (exercise) tomorrow night so the cholrine will strip off the conditioner and dry it out as usual - what a waste - feels nice at the moment though.

have to report in that I have got my butt back onto gear - exercise wise. Yesterday I went for a 3 mile walk and then later walked up to the school and back and then round to the shops - 1.5 miles in all. To round it all up I cut the front grass and raked it all up.

Then today I got up and cut the back grass - three times the size of the front, again I raked it all up and then I spent a couple of hours pottering around my flowerbeds. so I am worn out, but a cup of tea will put me back on the straight and narrow and then I'm off for a walk - can't stop now I maybe be getting back into the swing of this.

Just got to master the eating and drinking now.

Went for the walk - another 3 miles - then had to veg out on the couch for half an hour with a pint of blackcurrant juice. Am going to walk again today, not sure where might try a different route. It is absolutely gorgorous out there so once they are all up I'm going todrag them some where - again I don't know where - not very sure about anything this morning ?

Am going to be singing all day

Think we need sarah back to keep this thread going.

Are you all still bouncing on your trampoline things ? Would you reccommend them? I have a birthday coming up you see and I would like something useful rather than a bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers - although Ray if you are reading this I would still love the flowers. You all seem to have fun bouncing about on them one thing that puts me off is would I need to borrow a Russian Shot Putters bra ? if I just used a normal bra would my boobs bounce off the ceiling

Have been more active this week - will get out for a walk today around all the things I have planned - thats if I every leave this site

Where are the millions of posts I expected.... have you all stopped exercising?? Noooo!!!!! Come on everyone, get moving - you know you all feel so much better about yourselves when you do.

I've got my own diet and exercise class going in a small way. I have now got five other women who are joining me for my daily walk and we are weighing ourselves in my house on Mondays before walking, starting this week. Its great.... there's another couple of women who want to join in as well!

Carol - I thoroughly recommend getting a rebounder - its a really good way of getting exercise without it hurting too much! I basically jog on it while I play a CD through headphones. I did think about getting a video, but I am broke after getting the computer fixed, so perhaps next month. Its a shame we can't hire them the same way they do in the US - just so that we can try them before buying one.

TQ - what was your induction to your health centre like? Was it at all embarrassing?? I keep on thinking about joining but its the embarrassment factor that puts me off.

The walking group is good fun although it can be a bit frustrating sometimes especially when we have our 'once a week' lady who sort of ambles along slowly moaning about the speed we are racing along at! I have got a feeling that the group will grow in the summer and shrink quickly when we get some bad weather.

LOL - I wish I could have posted here on Kevin's pay day - I was completely taken aback .... most blokes come home with a box of chocies or a bunch of flowers, perhaps even perfume..... but not Kevin - he came home with one of those Ab exercise roller thingies - and an exercise floor mat.... bless 'im - and he looked SO chuffed with himself!!! Crickey they are PAINFUL! It doesn't hurt at all at the time you're doing it but the following morning I was in agony! It came without much in the way of instructions so has anyone got any idea how long I should be doing it for??

Default induction at gym

sarah the induction wasn't too bad, a few of us had the induction together. We went into an interview room one at a time and were weighed and had our height taken down, we filled in health screening questionaires then were shown all the equipment in the gym. we were given our programmes to follow it is a technogym so it is all computerised, very easy to follow with film clips to show correct exercises etc.
There was no fitness assesssment and no fat measuring calipers thank goodness.
I always go on my own and never feel intimidated as there are people from all walks of life, all sizes shapes and ages.
Not a thong in sight but some women with serious bodies who have every right to show off, I have seen them sweat for it....oh sorry ladeeeees only perspire dont they !!
