Red/Green day Sweet delights

  • Hi.

Anyone doing red/green days on SW have a dessert recommendation that is low sin?

Our class have been asked to bring in a 'homemade' or bought sweet (not my famous raspberry trifle of course!).

I do not usually buy sweet stuff (honest! 1 lapse!) and only have the Green cookbook which has savouries in. I gues I could buy a mueller lite yoghurt...

Personally I avoid most sweet lite stuff as a lot contains non vegetarian gelatine. I find this a lot in low cal stuff.
  • A lot of what I eat for dessert isn't very low-sin, or like low fat ice cream, would be difficult for you to take into class.

How about sugar-free jelly, a sachet of rowntrees or tesco sugar-free jelly is just 2 sins.

Someone in my class described a dessert they made. Very low-fat fromage frais (free) whipped up with a raspberry mullerlight (free) poured over fresh raspberries (free, but they wouldn't be if you baked/pureed them).

Of course, I've just realised that both of these suggestions involve using geletine, sorry. You could probably find another free brand of yogurt which didn't use geletine instead.
  • Here's a recipe that's worth three points.
    Angel food cake (fat free)
    Tin of crushed pinapple (drained)
Mix up the cake mix, add the pineapple and cook.
Eat with fat free cream (over here it's called cool whip free)
It makes about 12 servings when cooked in the equivalent of a small roasting dish (that's what I use) and each piece is three points.
It's quite scrummy too, and last time I made it, I froze loads individually and it was great to have as a dessert by shoving it in the microwave for a min to defrost.
