I've been checking to see if our thread still has any life in it. I'm glad to see you, cjlafaye! Good to hear you're still in the fight. I weighed today and was down 2 more pounds!! Things are going slowly, but at least they're going.
To everyone who thinks this thread is dead - just post!! It won't take much and we'll be back strong. I'm sure of it!!

Its hot Hot HOT ! Drinking the water should be a lot easier - it's also a health safety issue, not just weight loss.
Who was doing the pole dancing exercise classes? I havent seen them around here and wonder how it's going. Got to be fun!

Default I'm back

Who all has tried Atkins before. We are having a weight loss contest at work. I decided I was going to give Atkins a try since I've done everything else and nothing seems to work, I am on my 2nd day. I'll keep you all posted. My weight is at 193.5 nothing major still high though, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will work. Anyway I am heading off to bed right now, I am totally tired. Take care.

I've never tried Atkins before. In fact, I've found that "diets" don't really work for me because once I finish my "diet" I go right back to where I was (usually plus some). I read a story in the Goals section that was very inspiring and thought provoking. It's the story of Glory87, and I most enjoyed the section on "Weight loss attempts - Why dieting made me fat". You might want to check it out. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84601
Good luck with your contest at work. How is it structured? What's the incentive? Are there lots of people involved? It's great that you have people at work that you can team up with.
That got me thinking, I wonder how Amanda Mae is doing with her new job. Hopefully she's really happy and finding her niche.
Good luck to everyone

Default Happy Weekend

Hope everyone is doing o.k. This weekend in TN it is TAX FREE WEEKEND on school clothes and supplies so I have been out and about getting stuff for my daughter. I am going strong on the Atkins diet. I have lost 5.5 lbs since this past Monday and I am feeling good. Hope everyone is doing good, wish we saw a little more postings, I am sure everyone is still out there. Take care and I'll write back hopefully tomorrow.

Congratulations on the 5.5 pound loss, Goofgrl!!! That's awesome!! Atkins is pretty popular and it sounds like it's working great for you. Way to go!!
My father in law had his 60th birthday party yesterday. We had a good time, but got back pretty late. This morning I had a heck of a time getting out of bed so no time for a Monday morning weigh-in. I'll try to check tomorrow morning and see what this week's progress is. I'm feeling pretty confident though. The shorts that I bought on vacation at the end of June are feeling looser than they did when I bought them.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the last bit of summer.

4thefuture, You might enjoy a new thread called intuitive eating. Just search those words and you'll find it. We're all really tired of diets, too. Come on over. Carol

Hi Everybody (or anybody)! I just wanted to check in before the weekend. I did weigh myself Tuesday and was down 1 more pound. Not much, but I'll take it! I'm thinking that my body is probably used to the bus stop walking now so I need to work something else into the plan. As usual, I'll probably think about it for a few weeks before I actually do anything...But now I'm wondering, does thinking hard about something burn calories? Just a thought.

4the future,

I hear you in regards to the whole thinking about it and hoping the weight will come off. I get telling myself I need to do more with the hopes that poof it'll fall off on its own after reading my mind. Glad to hear you are walking and having success on your weight loss. Good job on the loss. I myself am taking another stab at my diet plan. I started doing Atkins, I did about 2 weeks of eating the whole meat thing and was getting caught in a whirlwind because needing a change. I decided to attempt my WW again. It is a plan I very familiar with and have tried over 100 times, I am stretching the truth here but I have been on and off of it for awhile now. Anyway I am going to do it again with extra motivation to do my best. I lost some inches with Atkins and was excited with that. I thought if I incorporate Atkins with WW and limit the bread, pasta and potato intake I should see some results. I with coworkers after work for about 40 minutes but I need more exercise because the number on the scale is so still. Anyway I started the thread and have completely abandoned it during the summer but I would like to continue posting daily and corresponding with you. I need the motivation and I will give back 100%. Well I gotta head out. Hope you have a good day.

Regina

Hi Regina, I think it's a great idea to combine the Atkins with the WW. That way you can really personalize a plan that will work with you and your body. I think that's one of the major problem with diets - there is no "one size fits all". And if you can't find a diet that you can live with, it'll never work because eventually you'll have to come off of the diet and then you're back where you started. Good luck !! How's the challenge going at work? It sounds like you're working with a great group at your new job. They seem supportive in all aspects of your life (or maybe I'm reading too much into it because my new job isn't all that I thought it would be ?)
Anyway, I really do hope that you (and others) come back to this thread. I know that I could use the motivation and this is a great group of girls. Good luck to everyone this week!!!

Well how was everyone's day? Here pretty good.

Hey Nicky you mentioned in earlier postings that you started a new job since you moved, what is it that you do? I am loving my new job, it gets hectic from time to time but it is totally better than what I was doing before. We walked today after work is was nice and warm. Then I came home to make dinner. We grilled out tonight. So how is your daughter doing Nicky? Does she attend Preschool? My daughter is on her last leg of Middle school. Hard to imagine she will be a freshman next year....I feel so old, I guess since my B'day is coming up. Well I hope you had a good evening and will talk soon. Take care and drink you water.

Oh a walk and then a cook-out. That sounds fabulous!
To answer your question, I provide technical assistance for medical research. Right now I'm working in a labratory that deals with cardiovascular research. Some of the diseases we're working on are diabetes, sickle cell, and atherosclerosis. My previous job dealt with neurological diseases such as Alzheimers and Parkinsons so I have a lot to learn with this new job. But that's one of the fun things about my job is that I'm always learning something new. After all, that's the point of research...
My daughter is doing great, thanks for asking. She's a 4 year old bundle of energy. She goes to daycare and will for one more year before she starts kindergarten . It's hard to believe that school is right around the corner
Well, I have a ton of work to get to. I really haven't been drinking all the water that I should so I'm going to try to work on that some. My weigh in was up .5 pound, but I'm not going to change my ticker because it wasn't a full pound (Denial ain't just a river in Egypt!!). I'm going to focus on water and upping the exercise this week to make up for it.

Hello to everyone out there. Like I mentioned earlier I stopped the Atkins and went WW/Atkins combined. Anyway my starting weight was 191.5 I am at 188.5. Down 3 lbs, I am not complaining. Our first weigh in at work is this Monday though it is on the honor system, we don't have to worry about actually stepping on the scale in front of everyone, though I don't care I know I am fluffy. Anyway I can see that I have lost some inches from doing the Atkins for a little while.

How is the water drinking going Nicky? Did you up your exercise and did you rid yourself of that stupid .50 though that really doesn't count you know that right. LOL! Any big plans for the weekend?

Hey Cassy I got your PM thanks. Are you still doingTJ? Miss you girl.

Well let me head out to work. I'll talk to you all later.

Congratulations Regina!! 3 pounds is quite an accomplishment! I actually decided not to weigh myself this week. Not really on purpose, I just noticed yesterday that it was Thursday and I still hadn't weighed myself so I decided to wait until next week. I just started a new medication with the wonderful side affect: May cause weight gain. Why do they do that!?

I am doing better on the water though. It's funny. I've noticed that when I'm not drinking my water, I never feel thirsty. But when I am drinking my water, I constantly feel parched. Is that normal?

Well, I hope everybody has a great weekend. I'm going to Richmond to my mother-in-law's house. I need to pick up some boxes and she's been hounding to see my daughter. I conveniently have something to do Sunday though so I won't be able to stay too long

Well, it looks like I'm going to have to adjust the ticker after all. One pound up. I know it's my bodies reaction to my medication, but I'm going to have to work like heck to keep ahead of it. I'm going to go heavy into battle this week - no more allowances for food that I really shouldn't eat, more exercise (not just getting from here to there, but actually exercising), and (of course) lots of water. Hopefully, I can nip this in the bud. I'm going to see my Dr. today so I'll see if he has any suggestions above and beyond what I've already come up with. Well, I hope everybody is starting the week a little better than me.
