Day 13 done!
Yesterday went well, with both days 13 completed (991 calories and 30 minutes walking). I'm back in New York for 10 days.
Apple, I'm going to the Barney's warehouse sale tonight after work - I hope I find some good deals! I've been sticking to the lower side of the city so far. I don't think I've ventured above 24th street yet. That should change this weekend though. I hope everyone is doing well on this blustery day (it is SO cold here! and windy!) I should have time to talk more later. By for now. |
:nono:
I didn't exercise last night. I need to find the elusive motivation..... :rain: Stll raining here. Today is usually my long walk/run day but I may be rained out.... Good news, no beer yesterday. I might stealth a no beer challenge if I can avoid the stuff for a few more days. Fish- I was never fond of mid-town. You are in a great spot. Try the Upper West Side if you get a chance, I love it there. And Central Park of course. There is a beautiful garden there, but I forget where exactly. I think East side... Hello Dance! You picked a great challenge! And I like your reward idea. I tend to think up rewards for actual weight lost, but a challenge completed is worth a reward too! I have actually picked up a lot of great ideas here but I never am able to apply them to my own quest. I should really buckle down, keep a food journal, follow a menu... I can't seem to do that kind of stuff. I always fall back on the eat less-exercise more plan. And I can't even stick to that for long enough... Motivation, where are you???? Good to hear from everyone else, Have a great day!:) |
OK. Well . . . . . The good news is that I did make it to the gym, I did do weights today, and I did avoid soda.
:o The not good news? I will be restarting challenges tomorrow. Took "Fat Tuesday" a bit too seriously, and wanted to get that last bit of :censored: in before I started the third challenge. So, starting tomorrow: 1. Follow menu (same rules as before), but get in 3 servings/day each of fruits and vegetables. Level 2 2. Measure (size or calories, whichever I can get) breakfast and snacks. Level 2 3. No chocolate (only time I will list this. Rest of the time it will just be known as :censored:). Heck, this is supposed to be a challenge, so I am making this a Level 1. I will have to get more granola bars, as mine have some chips in them. I guess I do have one other good thing to announce - I finally found a calorie book, so will have an easier time with goal 2. Talk more later all, but have a good day. |
Ok, here we go again......I'm setting the bar low in hopes of finishing something.
Exercise, level 1 challenge: today is Day #1 Push-ups every day, starting with 1 set of 8 reps and 1 set of 4 reps. anything else is *gravy* (no food porn intended) too busy at work....the homestead needs tending, hope everyone else does well too! I need to catch up on the bulk of the thread...see you all tomorrow! |

Seriously, congrats on completing the soda challenge, your weight loss, and the new outfit:cheer: and good luck on your new ones.:goodluck: Red~ Nice to have you back, the new avatar looks great and I hope you get the book deal :crossed: or the other jobs you’re going for.:goodluck: JCT~ I get the other smilies from other sites, just copy and paste the URL.http://bffc.net/icons2/idea.gif Fish~ 20 working hours- may I ask what you do? And congrats on the raise. Cbeta~ 700 calories and you’re not hungry, what’s your secret? I would love to be able to eat 1200 cal. And not be hungry. Curly and Carla~ you guys are not alone on the hot flashes :hot: altho’ I still have my TOMs, can't wait to get them over and done with. Carla~ congrats on completing the no wine :bravo: that’s a tough one. I’m glad to report that I’m on my 9th day and having no problems whatsoever. I had an incident last Sunday when DH and I went out to eat at an Asian :censored: Restaurant. I ordered dishes which were according to my challenges, and while eating my carbohydrate side dish :tape: I noticed a small piece of what some are calling “the other white meat”:ink: and I was totally grossed-out.:fr: :barf: http://bffc.net/icons2/barf.gif Needless to say, I didn’t eat the dish and I didn’t complain either. I never send something back to the kitchen when we eat out, I’m always afraid I will get something worse. So I think that my level 3 challenge is almost a sure thing now.:carrot: :cb: I hope I haven't written anything that is considered food porn.http://bffc.net/icons2/trio.gif Good luck to everyone. It is now 11:00PM here, so almost bedtime for me. Going for my 10th day tomorrow. Goodnight all.http://bffc.net/icons2/sleepy.gif |

I've very hungry, overate only once and not that bad, but salty smoked fish held on to all 4 bottles of water, and food intake... upset and still hunry I survived last two days.... challenges, except for lunch one, which was day 21 yesterday have been let go. Restarting today I guess. Feeling the same with my stomach since morning, could not even eat lunch. One bite and I will puke I think. Same as marbelys, anything to go back to bed, but not an option. Go LIVE is tomorrow morning! |
Hi everyone.... is this where we sign in for our challenges? I have created a challenge for myself. My mom is an excellent nurse and she has "assigned" a diet for me to follow. My challenge is to follow this diet to a T for the next 21 days (and thereafter) not only because I may lose a pound or two :joker: but also because the diet is what my body needs to function better for me. Step one of my challenge will be to not cheat :coffee2: ; step two of my challenge will be to finish off at least 4 bottles - 2 servings each - of water; and step three will be to exercise at the very minimum 5 days a week.... step one will be the hardest because it is a high protein diet with only about 50 - 100g of carbs and no calorie restrictions... I don't like meat and veggie burger isn't the best to eat when you need close to 9 or 12 servings a day...
Wish me luck and good luck to everyone else also... :m: :m: - gonna miss my chocolate |
Day 11----> 47 carbs
CBETA &Marble : hope u feel better soon.. must warn u tho u think its gone and the next day it sneaks back!!! Welcome new challengers!! |
CBETA, did you take the trip to Denver?

LOL well I have completed Day 1 -- only 20 more to go!!! (For this challenge; lots more after that!!) |
one for the thumb!
Well, Day 5 is done. Got to the gym this morning and knocked out the exercises. Only jogged 3K but it's better than nothing. I really, really, really did not feel like going to the gym this morning. Just felt like staying in bed and crying. But once I jogged I felt better, then had a mega stressful day at the office! :stress: It's war there and things are getting even crazier...if that's possible. It ain't purty! :(
dance -- :welcome: Hi there! Glad to have you aboard. Looks like you've had a successful liftoff already! Way to go! Hope to see lots of you! tia -- :bravo: on another rousing start to a new challenge! curly -- Excellent work! You're one champ, aren't you?! :flow1: aileigh -- Yup, this is where you sign up! :welcome3: Did you read the first post of this thread. If not, please do, that has rules and such. So, are you doing three different challenges or are you going to start all over even if you flub just one component? Good luck! :goodluck: CB -- What!?!?! You blew your challenge on the last day?! No way! Tell me it isn't so?! :yikes: I'm sure you must have an extra pause day in there somewhere, no? ;) And what's this with 700 calories? That's not healthy. I'd be passing out! girlie -- Hello. Nice to hear from you again and thanks for the nice long post. Glad you like the avatar! :dizzy: What is the "other white meat?" Mysterious! Is this dog or something? Sorry, I'm out of it and living in Tokyo I think most anything is game...well, being close to Korea and China, that is. Great going on your challenge. 9 days down! Wow! :woo: marb -- Good luck! :dancer: jolly -- Whoops! Oh well, Fat Tuesday and all that...at least you only fell off the wagon one day...I have been much worse...sigh. You and your level 1s. You're a stronger woman than I! :goodluck: Apple -- Let's see if we can all give you a hand looking for that motivation. I'm sure it's around somewhere. Don't give up! :strong: Fish -- You're smokin'!!! :flame: How DO you do it?!?! Hope you find something fun at Barney's! Sushi -- Got you! You're a challenge machine!! :lol3: Best of luck! :sunny: Others, where are you? carla?! chai, JCT? jen, freaky, tay? shad, you out there? surf? Anyone I missed? |
Hey everyone. Just a quick post before I am off to the work stress of the day. I feel like crap this morning. Food hangover, plus, I moved a 4 drawer wood filing cabinet yesterday - ouch :fr:
So, will head to the gym after work, where I will be sensible and eat healthy, and not drown my stress with :censored:. Have a great day all - and chat more tonight. |
OK, I'm still skeptical...but in the game...
Day #2 one set of 8 push-ups, one set of 5 push-ups 5 mins. of cardio (it's TOM and i am crabby....but someone at work just told me how great I am doing on my *diet*....she was walking behind me). I'll take it! |
Days 14 done
Yesterday was day 14 on both challenges - I had 1588 calories and walked about 75 minutes. There was nothing good at the Barneys sale. Practically everything was ugly, to start with, and the very few items I liked were either still too much money, or were trashed and dirty. I almost bought a Marc Jacobs mini-skirt, it was REALLY cute, but it was also REALLY short:o . And I couldn't justify spending the money because the only reason I would even have bought it is to name drop the designer! I could get something similar from the Gap or J. Crew.
Marbleflys - good to see you here again! I like the pushup challenges because they are easy to bust out and get over with. GirlieYorkie - it looks as if you are doing well on your challenges - keep up the good work. BTW, I'm an attorney in the securities compliance field, and right now is one of my client's busy filing period. So I get pretty busy at times. Red - I am glad you felt better after jogging. Isn't it amazing how much exercise can be a stress relief? Just goes to show we are definitely doing good things for our bodies, both physically and mentally. I hope all you sickies get better soon. Upset tummies are no good. I have major cramps today b/c of TOM, and that is bad enough. At least everything stays down. Back to the grindstone! I hope everyone has a great day! |
Thanks everyone for the get-well wishes.....I seem to have worked it out of my system quickly with minimal *icky stuff*....several people at work have the same problem, so it's making the rounds.
I hope to get myself in gear to begin some real exercise time....I certainly need to step up the cardio or I'll never get the rest of this weight off! |
glad to hear u are feeling better marble!!

Red, I said that I let go of all challenges except lunch one... And yes I did make to 21st day on Monday, so I am done...it is completed.
Yesterday I only had breakfast, and then a pice of string cheese. Rest of the day I drank water, that's all. Lost a few pounds gained over the weekend. Have not eaten anything since that string cheese yesterday over 24 hours now. Feel a little bit better, but still weak....Thank you for everyone's wishes to get better. NO time to write, no time to workout....Workwise thigns are very stressful. Must run. Take care all. |
lOL I didn't get very far into my challenge - I have to start over... uhm day one is thursday hee hee..... my cold interfered and will be my scapegoat. anyone have any ideas on getting more protein without it being so hard.... I don't know how to cook fish and fish is what I like, but I have been downing some lean ham and turkey... will get chicken breast when I go grocery shopping, but any good ideas that will make this diet easier will be super appreciated.... THANKS!!!!!
Thanks redballoon and curly locks - yeah i read the first post and I hope to follow the rules, but if I break one, I don't mean to!!! I will try to get to know everyone doing the challenge and hopefully be a motivator of some type with good words.... Thanks for the welcome!!!!!!! |
Far as fish goes (and I eat a lot of it) I buy a thickish fillet and either put it on a grill (bbq or bar grill type frypan) and let it cook skin side down for 5 mins and then flip it and cook the other side for less than a minute. I tend to have the grill plate quite hot. Sometimes I will spray the grill so it doesn't stick. This way the skin goes wonderfully crispy and the rest is just done.
I don't put any seasoning on it but you could, and I tend to vary the meals with either a fat free or lo fat sauce (packet) or natural yoghurt flavoured with fresh herbs (mint, oregano, cucumber, taragon, etc. sort of like an Indian Raita) Works for me. Hello to all my 21 day buddies. Nice to see you all posting away and getting through those challenges. Morning Red. |
day 12 ---> 44 carbs
|
Sorry for the lengthy absence. For now I'm taking a little break from posting - just don't seem to have anything much to say. One of these days I'll be back, and will be lurking until then. (Meanwhile, confession time: my tracker is NOT telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth... :o )
Good luck all. |
take care Carla and come back when u are ready... I will miss ya!
|
Thanks Curly, you've been a pal and an inspiration.
|
Oh Carla!:( :( :( I'll be thinking of you! Come back soon!
Day one for exercise. Day 2 actually, because I exercised already today. I'm having a FAT day today. Bleh. Yeah CBETA!!:cp: :hat: :cp: :hat: :cp: :hat: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Nice to finish one, isn't it? I hope you are feeling better and things at work settle down! Hi Shad! Hope everyone else is doing well! |
Hey all. Day 1 complete for all my challenges. Did have to laugh, however. I had to run to the store to pick up different hot cereal, as what I purchased before I set challenge #3 would have broken #3. Ah well
Did not make it to the gym though. I killed my shoes today, and had to go get a new pair. Luckily, found 3 on clearance for the price of 1. I have absolutely nothing to go with the one pair, but boy will I have fun finding something :o. Have a great night all. |
LOL well I completed Day 2 -- but it was funny. I forgot my mini toast crunchie thingies for lunch so when I was in a shopping center tried to tell myself that I could go get a piece of the free homemade bread one of our local bakeries gives out to equal what I forgot. Yah RIGHT.. then I thought, "You do and you will go back to Day 1!!" Since I was only on Day 2 I didn't want to have to go back already to Day 1!! So I skipped it.
Dance |
Hurray Joy for a good save.
Here's to day 2 for me. Off to the gym soon - yes, I will make it today :nono: everyone, have a wonderful day! I just had to pop in and get my willpower dust for the day. Talk to you later. |
Just popping to say I hope all of you make it through your "day" today! I am heading into Day 3!! A long way to go LOL.
|
Day #-3
one set of 9 push-ups, one set of 6 push-ups... 10 mins. of Interval training... SOB! Carla got a life, she's leaving...... (i'll PM you) |
Good luck everyone in your day today !!! Thanks for the tip Shad!

Thank you thank you thank you. except work is getting busier by the minute. for now all networks are down which puts me again behind schedule. :-( I am back to being 245 after gaining a few water pounds, which were held up by salty smoked fish. I feel better after not being able to eat anything. All I did is work and sleep last two days. Must get back to normal life, where gym, healthy eating, and personal life exists. |
Someone was asking about fish, so here is my recipie. I make it inside the stove. Normally I use salmon. I salt it, and cover with any spices that you like. I prefer, the 21 spice from Trader Joe's. I spray some lemon juice and then pour a little bit of water and cover with pearchment paper. Stick inside the stove, and take it out when done... I don't remember what's the temp (around 350-375) and how long...though.
|
CB: I know u were feeling bad.. but be careful skipping meals.. it will make it harder for u to lose weight in the long run..
|
Morning, all, Just wanted to say I notched another day yesterday, at the last minute...no, beyond the last minute. I turned on the light again and did my crunches after I had gone to bed! Hurrah for me!
All, good luck and hang in there! And :drill: carla!! I want you back here toute suite!! No AWOL stuff! :nono: If you don't know what to say, you can start with "I am on Day 1 of a new challenge!" :lol3: Come on, if I can be here despite the mess my life is these days, then you can be too! Besides, I NEED YOU!!!! :stress:  |
Days 15 done
Yesterday I completed day 15 of each of my challenges: 1406 calories and a ton of exercise ;) (40 minutes of walking, plus 30 minutes on the elliptical).
It is snowing in New York. It was sleeting earlier, so I am sure the streets are perfectly icy by now. Glad I brought my sneakers so I don't have to navigate the sidewalks in heels. Carla - try to enjoy a little break and come back to us soon. I miss my cyber-drinking buddy:p Red - Good to hear that you squeezed in your crunches! Back to work! One more day without my hubby, and then he is coming up to see me tomorrow and over the weekend! I hope everyone had a wonderful day. |
day 13---> 59 carbs
looks like everyone is moving right along on their challenges!!! i miss carla :( ... now who can i complain about the zelle 2??? |
Day 3 completed for me!!! (Sticking with eating plan)
|
Dang!
 Hi Y'all!
It's been ages since I've been here... and you all have been BUSY!!!!! I was having serious internet problems all last week. I was so sad. But I had the Guy come fix me up and after $135, I am back online! LOL Well I am beat tonight... my son is teething, my daughter's best friend is here while her parents are on holiday.... and I am jsut flat tired. SO I need to cut it short. Welcome to anyone new... Congrats on everyone's challenges.... Thanks Red for kicking me in the butt and missing me! I nixed out the exercise challenge... i just don't put it in my schedule like I should. I had to start the H20 challenge over... but I am on day 5 now. And I am on day 14 for journaling. So I am moving along.... slow but steady. Tomorrow is my weigh in day... :crossed: here's hopin' I've passed the 5# mark! :grouphug: take care all! |
Hi everybody... just waving hi.
What can I say... my week hasn't been going well and I'm feeling quite miserable at the moment  and very sad and disappointed. And worried and concerned and so on. It's not so much about the challenges, as about everything else that has - and hasn't - been happening. :halfempty: I'll be back tomorrow. Either things will be somewhat better or much much worse, depending on what other people do or don't. Won't be saying anything right now, will give the people a chance to redeem themselves... |
