Hello all! Just reporting in to say that Day 15 is a wrap on both challenges! Yesterday, talking early with carla and Shad about doing things early, I got right down and did my crunches before work since I thought I may be out for the Eve. And I was..didn't get home till late morning..slept a bit..then went to the gym...just made it in time to run 6K! SIX for 2006!! and did my crunches there. So only six more days to go on both and I've still got one pause day for both the caffeine and the crunches. Looks like I's a gonna make thissun!
Red, you are doing great! With all the exercise you have been doing you are bound to be moving that ticker soon! I only wish I had the time and motivation to do the same!
Our New Years was kind of a bummer, we couldn't go where we were planning because the highway was flooded. The kids, especially the oldest, were very disappointed. Today looks like it might be a long one too, the weather is still bad....
Day 3 for exercise is done. That beer challenge will start up again tomorrow. Happy New Year!!!

Also I want to congrat everyone who had many day 1s and who stuck with their challenges this holiday season and especially those who made to 21 days recently!. Clearly you are determined and I would like to apploaud you.
As for me. Around the 28 Red asked me what kind of excersize I did that day.Funny that she asked me that, as my excersize that day was very unusual. Remember my friend T. who is a Master of Sports in Gymnastics? Me and her 18 yr old dataughter ( in shape, but has some tummy weight, which prevents her to wear clothing with open belly) conviced the T. to give us excersize. Whe worked us well for an hour, and the interesting thing, she said that excersise has to be done slowly, not in bursts. One should be relaxing the muscels and only using them to do the lift, and not the push! Most of her suggested excersizes were pretty simple lying on the floor. Of course she did stop by and corrected the form, and I really liked doing them. There were two things I was unable to do at all: one was the bike excersise, I could only do increments of 10-15 secons, and could not do 1 full minute as requested. Second one had to do with lying on the side: either my butt or my belly would push me on to lay parallel to the floor on my back or otherwise.
During it I felt tingeling and got red and tired, but it was not dead on painfull (except bike), and she warned us that muscells will hurt next day. She did not kid us. Normally I consider myself to have a strong muscel base, as I did dancing for half of my life, even coaches who measured me in at my gym said that. This was almost the first time workout was powerful enough for me and gentel on my joints (laying down or sitting) Interesting though that for two days after, I felt how my belly muscels contracted themselves, it was easier to talk with it contracted and it did not feel uncomfortable. I think all normal sized people do exactly that and never notice.
Now about New Year. It was different, I was so not feeling it that forgot to say wishes... seriously I did. I did ok at the table, yes I tried all 4 salads, I ate some styuden, a small piece of bread, one meatball (quite lean - I made thouse myself - should have used less lean meat, but it's ok), 1 piece of meat, and 1/2 of red potatoe, and 1 devils egg with mushrooms. I was proud of myself for not taking seconds! This was before N.Y. After we had tea and here I think I did more than I should, but still i managed to avoid choc. covered waffles, and take only small pieces of chocolate. Overall I did not do very badly, I think I even returned at 4am with a not overfilled stomach. Though I had severeal glassess of wine and champaigne. The host kept refilling the glasses constantly, so I lost track.
At night when I got home, my internet was back on - we lost it due to a severe storm. I read my 2006 horoscope (normally I don't, but I decieded to see). Two major points that i saw for me: 1....you are going to be on a quest to find new knowledge and to grow. Lost of self eval.... 2. Eat in moderation and excersice daily is the best.
So read my next post for the challenges!
A (will make a Level 3): 3 bottles of water daily
B (Level 3, no food less than 3 hours before bed time. If intake is after 7pm, 3 hours should bear some home and/or gym activity.)
C (Level 3, any kind of serious activity. Either 1 h gym or walking & such for a prolonged amount of time)
How did I do today?
A(3) H2O - DAY 1 (Jan. 1) Need to drink it, after all that wine and champaigne
B(3) food - Day 0 (Jan. 1) Ate after midnight!
C(3) excersize - Day 1 (Jan. 1) Plan to do T.'s excersises, as gym is closed today.
curly, I think your scale is broken too. You have been eating so little and for it NOT to have moved is unbelievable. Maybe it's time for a new one?! Do you have a manual one (nonelectronic) or a digital readout?
I'm better, thanks for asking Red, but I'm not sure yet of the status of my challenges... took another free day yesterday - we had a small celebration for New Years and I wanted some sweets
Today I have to decide whether I'm sticking with both of them, or restarting.
A: Level 1 challenge- Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily
B: Level 2 challenge- Stay on South Beach phase 1 eating plan.
C: Level 3 challenge- Do "The Firm" January rotation.
A(1) Water Challenge- Day 1
B(2) SB1 Challenge- Day 1
C(3) The Firm Challenge- Day 1
Good morning, all! It's the morning of the 3rd here. Getting an early start. Just wanted to say I racked up yet another day on both my challenges, which means I am now starting out on Day 17. Day 16 is a wrap! I almost took a pause on the crunches yesterday, but then did them when I came home! Hurrah for me!!
Gotta do my own cheering here since things are quiet.... Heh, where is everyone?!!
Trudei – The MS word split screen business was discussed earlier in the thread – it’s where you put the website on half of your screen and word or another word processor on the other half and reply to individual posts on the word processor, then cut and paste what you’ve typed into the reply field. That way you don’t have to remember everything you want to say to each individual person and type it all at the end, you can type responses as you read different posts. It wasn’t my idea, I think it was Shad or CBeta that first mentioned it.
So yesterday was official day one of my water challenge – got my four bottles down but a little too close to bed time so I didn’t exactly sleep through the night . I’ve been getting moderate exercise (well more than my flabbity self is used to, anyway) in the past couple of days because we are doing spring cleaning early. I can now officially see the entirety of my laundry room floor and am down to the organization of little stuff in the living room. We still have a long way to go before the house is something fit for human habitation, but it’s getting there!!
Rah! Rah! Sis Boom Ba! GooooooooRed!Red Rocks! Only 4.5 Days Left To Yet Another Completed Challenge! You Go Girl!
Is that better?
Sorry for the silence - I've been very busy straightening up and flying right. (English translation: planning new challenges, breathing HUGE sigh of relief at very slight weight gain, changing my avatar - thanks again Curly.). I'll be back later to write a better post, complete with details of the incredibly complex set of challenges I'm contemplating/trying out.
Curly, take that nasty home scale and throw it off the highest building you can find! Being careful, of course, not to hit anyone down below except possibly my ex or his floozie (oops. so much for being nicer in the new year. )
Morning all,
Sorry for my silence, I have been reading the threads and comtemplating the next challenge and cursing the heat. We've been having a heat wave over here and are now on our knees praying for rain! Of course it can't rain over the weekend, nor can it rain on public holidays or when the washing is out or when I have washed the car. So I am pretty picky about when it can rain, you see.
Red, there is almost another challenge under your belt. Good onya. You're travelling well.
My new challenge starting today is to drink water. Now yesterday wasn't hard and I glugged over three litres of the stuff, but that is an exception I think and I have to do it all over again today, which is about to turn into another stinker.
So level one challenge - 2 litres of water per day (or more).
And
Level 2 challenge - Exercise 5 times per week at the gym including those darned crunches.
and
Level 3 Challenge - Portion control. Portions are getting a bit out of hand. So back to cutting back the amount of food that goes in my mouth. Notice I am not saying I am not going to eat xxxx. That is because immediately I say that, I want xxxx. So don't put that temptation in my way.
Okay, out of here, I have people coming to put up the side gate and fence today, they just rang to say they would be late. How unusual.
