Hello everyone. I just came back from the dr's office, (sigh) Christian has a sinus infection, and Haleigh has a sinus infection and bronchitis. Soooo, it's antibiotics all around, and breathing treatments for Haleigh. The dr said that this stuff is going around really bad here .
Otherwise we are all doing well. I have stayed well within my calorie limits over the last few days, although I havent been getting my workouts in. Will do better after I get done w/ these sick children, lol. Haleigh is supposed to get albuteral (sp?) treatments through the nebulizer every 3-4 hours to break up the congestion in her lungs
Anyways I'll write more later, I hear someone pulling up the driveway.
Amanda, Poor little honeys. Nicole has to have nebulizer treatments so often that the doctor gave us a prescription so the insurance company would pay for the machine. We've been using it on her for almost 2 yrs now. Seems like every cold she gets goes right to her lungs too. The doctor figures she has asthma but she is still too young to really get her tested for it. They just have to use her medical history...i.e. Pneumonia, bronchitis, etc. Does Haleigh have asthma? Well I sure hope you all get to feeling better. My mom calls all the stuff going around the "creeping crud".
Not much happening here. I cut out all my quilt parts and now I can sew it together. My sisters' and I are making quilts and selling them on ebay for some extra dough. It's kind of fun, just hard to find the time to get it all done. I'll be heading back to school next week and there my time will go again.
Amanda - those poor babies. And they're pretty young too. I can only imagine how miserable they are (and you too to see the babies miserable makes Mommy miserable). Hope they are better soon.
Oh...sorry your little ones are sick! Hope they are better soon!
Chris, I'm starting my first 'real' quilt - just finding the fabric right now. It'll be a full size, nine patch for our guest bedroom. Do y'all get a good price on ebay? I have thought about doing wall quilts to sell there. Just wondering.
Not a whole lot going on here either. I woke up tired, and stayed tired all day. Going to bed soon, hoping tomorrow is a bit more energetic.
Amanda - So sorry the little ones are sick. Mine are also sick. It's so bad this year! Get well soon!!!
Alisha - Are you kidding me, relaxing doing laundry?? I loathe the laundry! I give it dirty looks and then cuss it the whole time I am doing it. Glad to hear you are doing good!!
When I was a kid (and it was the 70's, not the 20's), we had a wringer washer and a wash board, did the laundry outside in the back yard by the hand pump. We would fill a bunch of garden hose with water and put it in the sun to warm up, then start doing laundry...hand it all out to dry...it took the better part of a day! Trust me, using stain removers, tossing laundry and soap in a washer, it's not so bad! I always think about women hauling the clothes down to the creek and beating them on a rock.....it could be lots worse!!
Well i didn't mean relaxing doing laundry meaning i am just relaxing in General and getting some laundry done here and there, trust me Cara i am like you i do not like doing laundry.....well i don't mind putting the laundry in the washer, i hate folding it, and mostly i hate folding WHITES!! I hate to have to match everyone's socks....fold the underwear....etc...it sucks!! But hey if i don't do it who will right??
Amanda: Your poor little ones, I hope they're feeling better soon!
Cat & Chris: Me too! I want to know how to make quilts! Is it tough? I'm not much of a sewer (hmmm... doesn't look like the right word!) and I don't even have a sewing machine, but maybe all that will change. I love quilts!
Carafre: You're little ones are sick too? Poor darlings. And how are you, hopefully feeling better. How are you doing with eating and exercising? I'm okay with both right now, but not back to where I was a few months ago. Looking forward to Taebo.
Alisha: I hate laundry, too! I hate putting it away. My hubby usually does laundry, but on Monday and yesterday I did a marathon laundry session; that sucker was running all day long and still running by the time we went to bed. I had a lot of catch-up to do, and now it's done so hopefully hubby will stay on top of it.
I've been walking with the Sir every day in my neighborhood, and it's a really good workout with all those hills. Haven't gotten on the treadmill yet, but I'll be working that into my new schedule soon. Someone (I think Alisha) asked about posting menus everyday. I'll go along with that, although half the time I don't know what I'm making until it's time to cook! Does anyone else here use FitDay? I have an account but haven't used it yet. Maybe that would be an easier way to post our menus because I think you can share with others. But I'm not sure. Other thoughts?
Thanks for the well wishes for the kids They do seem to be feeling a little better today.
Chris- I have had the nebulizer since Christian was about 5 mos old! Absolutely everything went to his lungs back then. Then Haleigh was born and it was the same thing again. its not so bad anymore, but winters are always hard on their lungs. Neither of them have asthma, though, thank goodness
Cindy- kudos for getting that walk in every day. I use fitday, and find it really motivating. I also came accross a free diet website that provides a meal plan and fitness plan just recently called ***********. I just signed up a couple of days ago, so I dont know a whole lot about it yet, but its FREE so i figure i should at least check it out.
Cat: I actually find it really relaxing to hang clothes on the line to dry (when its warm, that is). I think that's because it reminds me of when I was little, and would help my mom hang our laundry. Things were so simple then, LOL The house we lived in had NO plumbing. We had an outhouse, and my mom carried all our water from a spring. (Can you tell I'm country, LOL)
Cara: sorry your little ones are sick. The dr said that this has been a really bad year for kids. I think I'll buy a few extra cans of lysol tomorrow, LOL.
Alisha: I have been thinking about learning to sew also. I would love to make dresses, quilts, and all kinds of stuff, LOL . I'd also like to make a quilt. Both of the last ones i bought from a store came apart at the seams, and they aren't cheap either.
I FINALLY got enough $ together to order Billy's Boot Camp. I cant wait til it gets here, lol.
Well, I gotta get off here and finish making chicken & dumplings for dinner. I'll talk to y'all later
Alisha, there are some quilts that are fairly easy to do. I'm still a beginner too. My mom has made quilts before and she's more familiar with it all, so when I can't figure out something, I go to her. The one thing I do have a hard time with is finding colors for them. I did find some really neat ones for my latest. When I get it done, I will post a pic of it so you can see it.
Amanda, Sounds like the kids are doing okay. Nicole woke up in the middle of the night coughing and having a stuffed up nose. Kayla is congested today and my nephew is coming down with something. The little "bugs" floating all over in the winter, just drive me nuts. I'm looking forward to the day when everyone will be "unsick" on the same day.
Cynthia-Quilting isn't too hard. It's time consuming though. There is lots of books out there too that show you step by step how to do the different quilt patterns. Like I told Alisha, I'm a beginner too. My mom is soo much better at it than me. She's been sewing since she was a kid. I guess I have too (since I was 10 yrs old). My grandma was a seamstress and loved to sew too.
Cat-My mom had to use a wringer washer when she was still living at home. She told me all about those little buggers. My grandma even had hers stored in the basement when she died a few years ago. In fact, I think my mom has it in her basement now.
Cara-Sorry to hear your little ones are sick too. These same little germs seem to be all over the place. It just amazes me at the amount of people (in different parts of the country) having the same viruses. Unreal!
I think, I hope, I got a hi in to most everyone. I have the dirty "L" word to do. Mr. Washmore has risen and needs to be knocked down once again. I hate laundry too. Maybe we should all start a club for that.
Hey Ladies i just wanted to post and see if there is anything new going on. How about we all post are menu's starting tomorrow. That way we can all catch up with the new thing that we are starting. Ok?
Cynthia: I hardly use fit day i don't really like it, i think it makes bigger of the calories, carbs, and etc....maybe i am wrong...Plus it is hard for me to get on there everyday to enter what i eat.....what time i do have online i want to spend it here on this board and checking my email....lol.....So your hubby does laundry.....he is defintly a keeper!! My hubby has probaly done laundry about 5 times in the 5 years we have been together...... But oh well.......
Chris: I think a i HATE DOING LAUNDRY CLUB is a great idea I think for me i need to look into a basic sewing class first and learn all the basics, and then i will move onto quilting, but i really think i want to get into that.....i have saved some of my babies clothes and i would like to make it into a quilt for him, to have for his 1st born....so i have plenty of time...hopefully.....
Amanda: Good Luck with the Taebo, i hope you enjoy it as much as i am "now" Just stick with it, it does get easier....and on the excercise plan that you get...depending on how you feel but for me i am doing the Basic Training for about a month before i incorp....the other excercises into certain days.
Well ladies i am going to jump off here i will chat with you all soon! Have a great night!!
Ok - so I have more to type now that the kids are settled. I am doing better with the water!! But I've totally tanked on the not eating after 7:30. Mostly b/c I've been nursing a little more since Talon is sick. But some b/c I am bored. C'mon, someone , anyone? I need to hear the words...
Chris - I really want to quilt!! I have no idea where to start! I can't wait for the "unsick" days!!! I hope your little ones are better real soon!! These bugs are everywhere!!! I asked the Pediatrician today if I am doing something wrong b/c it semms like we've all been sick for 2 months! He said no, lots of kids are staying sick b/c of the strains of virus going around. It made me feel sad about lots of kids being sick, but better b/c it's not just us.
Amanda - I am going to Lysol this house tomorrow if the kids are better!! I am already washing sheets & blankets (More friggin' laundry!). Thanks for the well wishes! I am glad your kids are doing better!! There's hope for us all!!
Cindy - I am better, still a little congested but 150% better than last week. Only exercised once this week. I've let my sweet little girl sleep in my bed so I can keep an ear on her chest - which means no biking. But I did do one great thing - I join Curves Saturday. Hubby is finally on board. Since I can't get it going here at home, I will be going there. I am really excited. Good for you walking again!! I bet both of you are enjoying it!! I know that you really missed it! Yes, Taebo here we go!! Saturday!!!
cat - If I had to drag clothes to a creek to wash, forget it!!!! We'd be the odd naked family on the block!! Wait - I'd have to be in shape to look good naked all the time, hmmm - now to find a creek!!
Hey ya'll...just found this group...I too want to be a slimmer SAHM....I work part time so I hope you'll have me...
counting calories and walking is what I'm doing so far...I didn't have time tonight to read what's been going on here so hopefully I'm in the right place. I'll check w/ ya'll tomorrow.
