macdeez~ congratulations on the loss! :bravo: 6.5 for the month! That's great! I should read back through your posts for some tips!
cadwell~ keep us posted on the job! (and good luck again!) theresa~ thanks for the suggestions. I've been alternating btw 1300-1600 so that my metabolism doesn't pick up on the fact that I'm dieting--no since telling it something it doesn't want to know! So here's something funny: I was thinking about how I went to my 1600 limit on calories yesterday and was still hungry so I went back through my food journal and I didn't add correctly! I added my snack in twice, so my true caloric consumption was right at 1400 for the day. No wonder I was still hungry--I went from eating pizza and treats on a lazy Sunday to 1400 cal on Monday with exercise! Say it with me now: whew! That means I can still do up to 1600 cal today, which is good b/c I'm already up to 820 and I've got 8 hours to go until bed! sandisuze~ thanks for posting that calculator, but it said I should only be consuming 2040 with my exercise to maintain. That seems low to me--that means I would need to take in only 1540 to lose a pound a week, right? I guess that's essentially what I'm doing now...but I sure don't see a pound a week on the scale! WI tomorrow morning for me--glad I'm not the only one peeking at the scale, THERESA! lol |
btw, neo~ congrats on the last of the "007" (too funny) weight. :D I saw I think the same article you're talking about on the standing vs sitting thing, only it also mentioned fidgeting. The study involved participants wearing underpants with sensors (can you imagine?) and it tracked how much they wiggled shifted etc all day. Thin people are fidgety. That's right, I said it. We all have to fidget more. My daughter calls it being a wiggle-worm.
|
I must have missed the fidgeting part-drives me nuts to watch it so will have to work on that one. I wouldn't let anyone put sensors in my undies-that just is disturbing lol. I more than burned my calories today cleaning out the pit of despair aka josh's room. I am not even going into what I found in there-needless to say those will weak constitutions and are prone to nightmares would need to run very far away. Makes me wonder how he manages it. I may try to get a walk in also today as I would really like to move that ticker down 1 tomorrow. Weather is very mild today here and I keep telling myself that pretty soon it will just be raining all the time and it just seems like a pain to drive to the mall all the time to walk-especially if I don't have any cash LOL.
|
 you know, I think i would fidget more if I had sensors in my undies!
It's lightly raining here now--I'm hoping it clears up so I can run tonight. The after school care that my daughter goes to is abou 1.2 miles from our house, so it's a really good distance to measure my progress. I run up there and then she and I stop at the park on the way home. She also gets a little personal trainer on me by trying to keep me running, except she only knows how to run in sprints! Plus, I have to carry her backpack because she said it will help to have extra weight for training! I'm sure it's pretty dorky with me fitfully sprinting after her with a fuzzy backpack. |
Okay, Melra caught me, I peeked! I couldn't help it when I woke up and felt thinner...just had to check if I was delusional.
Macdeez---YAY on the loss. Two lbs. lighter and you get to move the ticker! Sandisuze--I bought the 2 DVD set of Kathy Smith Lift Weight to Lose Weight, got it at walmart for $15 and then other people I heard were buying it elsewhere for like $30 :o Don't fall into that trap, it shocked me it was going so high other places. I LOVE the first one, which is titled same as I already typed, but am not so fond of the second one, same name but with a 2 on it. It depends what you are looking for. I am a very beginner with weights, and the first one has 20 min. workouts, one for upper body and the other for lower body. It has a bonus 10 min. ab workout which I can't do, it kills me. There's also some talking part on there about posture and such. It was worth the money to me for the 20 min. workouts, they are not too hard and have different options to progress as you get stronger, and I can feel it the next day but I'm not like throbbing and can't stand up kinda sore. The second one has 4 little workouts meant to go together, 2 for each end of the body. There's a ball workout included where she like stands on her head on top of the ball and I would just kill myself if I even tried that! I don't like the second one and never do it...but have a friend who can't stand the first one and loves the second. So, it depends what you're looking for. Oh, and the first one is designed so you sweat like you're doing cardio, she goes from one move to another at a quick pace so you get a full workout in 20 minutes. It's not confusing or disorienting fast, just nicely paced. And there's a stretch segment in the second DVD which I do like...not part of the workouts, it's a different segment in the main menu. The really neat thing about the second is you can design your own workout by putting in which 10 minute segment you want to go in what order, so you can go upper, lower, upper, abs, lower, stretch, or whatever order you want and it puts them in that order for your customized workout. I do like that feature. Theresa |
I've bee awol for a day. Everyone sounds so good, and I'm glad.
Fitday.com does have and exercise componant. I think it even calculates how many calories a particular exercise uses based on your own weight and lifestyle. I really like that site. I kind of know where I am by supper time, but I enter it and what I am making for supper and sometimes I am suprised that I can have a few more calories. I don't bother with green veggies, but I do count fresh fruit, cause I could easily eat 1000 calories of fruit a day. It's my absolute favorite, especially in summer. Today I've had 4 peaches and 2 cups of grapes and that adds up. We went the fair today and it was easy to stay OP cause the lines were so long and the prices were so high. My grandson has 2 slices of pizza and a drink and it was $10. Then he had a dipped apple for $3.50. Luckily it was just us two, so I didn't go broke. The only OP food for me was a super looking salad from a middle eastern booth, but there were 25 people ahead of me, so I just got a limp looking green salad from another booth. Tomorrow is WI day-good luck everyone. Laura |
Nice to hear you had a good time at the fair. Our day is next week and if nothing else a good motivator for me is that it is the day before weigh in lol. I already decided that i would have subway for lunch as I can half a turkey for only 5 pts and then if there is some fresh fruit somewhere nab that too if I need it. Lots of walking planned too while pushing the darlings along. My son is driving me nuts to go on a walk so I guess no getting out of it today. After dealing with the pit of despair, I am drained from the ordeal.
Totally not weight related but I have Odessa here who insists on wearing her panties but won't go in her chair. I tried explaining that she could only wear them if she goes in the chair but she doesn't-makes the tinkle queen look tame. I am open to any and all suggestions. I am so out of the loop on this one-been years since I had to deal with this kind of thing. See ya on the weigh in Melissa |
Melissa, my daughter was the same way so i just let he wear the panties and wet herself...then she had to help clean up the mess and wash the panties at the end of the day. She didn't like being wet, didn't like the extra work, and it wasn't long before she started running for the potty. I also kept books and toys by the potty, things she really liked, and she wasn't allowed to play with them unless she was on there. Within a week she was completely potty trained, and to this day has only peed the bed twice! Just act like the mess is no big deal, she just has to clean it up with you, and eventually she will not like it and give in. If she's half as hard headed and strong willed as my little girl, the more you battle with her the more she will go against you. So, I just let her have her way until she realized that really wasn't the best thing!
All children are different so it depends on her personality really. I do strongly believe that when they are ready they do it and it's not a problem...it's when they are forced before they're ready that it turns into a big battle. The cat is knocking everything off the table and is going to wake the babes, so I will be back later. Theresa |

Odessa is extremely stubborn and strong willed. I will try what you suggest and see if that helps. It would be lovely to get one of them out of diapers. Thanks Theresa!

ok I have just burned off enough calories for the rest of the year- ;)
decided to go to walmart to restock the pantry for just in case TD # 12 turns into Katrina and decides to head north a bit.. (memories from last year) well walmart was insane- I got the last 2- 24 packs of water -Ice is already gone from walmart and the grocery store next door. and the storm isn't even projected to come close to us but that's what they said about charlie last year and we went w/o power for 14 days. anyway I had to fight my way thru carts and little old ladies who just stop in the aisles- and protect my cart from water thieves.. I was exhausted after the aisle obstacle course and then I was thinking gee what can I do to keep OP if we lose power- so I did grab some lf or FF cracker type snacks- I guess the diet will be put on hold in case of emergency. I still have canned spam from last year. :p Theresa Thanks for the video info.. she said she'd let me see it before I bought it from her- she wants 12.00 for them.. Melissa- I had to use bribery for my youngest- She loves to buy stuff -even at a young age and we bought her a piggy bank and everytime she went in the potty she got a coin to put in her bank- she did take forever though- the 2 older ones were quick.. no hassles at all Ok I fidget all the time.. I can't stand to sit still even in meetings I have to doodle ( pretending to take notes  ) so maybe that's why I'm not heavier??? well I have to go call my sister ( my size 0 sister) but i gotta love her- even if she can eat a whole chocolate cake and never gain an ounce.. I just found out 2 years ago I even had a sister so...it's along story.. Thanks for everyones support and info- I am glad our fair isn't till October so I am getting all your wonderful tips before I go to ours.. |
Wally World is enough to burn calories and anything else in its path! I love the place though. I sent out the weekly and if I missed anyone who might be new and you would like to be a part of it, please PM me with your email. I tried bribery with Odessa and it got me nowhere. I am going to let her clean up her messes and see how she likes that one. I know I am already tired of it. People are going to be early here tonight I can tell you that much. Bunch of cranky people. I did get that walk in and I guess it is thanks to Joshua-kid just would not let up about going and I made it around twice again. Might be getting a ping pong table(freecylce of course) and I thought it would ge good fun and help with Josh's hand-eye coordination. I think the last time I played that was when I was pregant with my daughter like 22 yrs ago. Basketball hoop too so we can shoot some hoops. I have been trying to find things to do at the house for excersize since it is hard with two toddlers and plus you never know what is going to set Josh off. Looking forward to seeing emails tomorrow!

Bribery worked for my kids. When the youngest was 2 1/2 I broke my leg and I figured keep him in diapers cause it will be easier for me. His older brothers had underpants with firemen on them and he wanted them too. We told him if you get them, then you must use the bathroom, cause mommy can't be doing washes all the time. He was trained in one day. I couldn't believe it, but here we are, 26 years later, and this stubborn determined man, still astonishes me. We go from such misery to so much happiness and up and down till I'm spinning. Right now things are good. The bride and groom are together, the house looks beautiful, they are working and we all are sitting tight. And thru it all I have stayed OP, which for me is a miracle, and this group helps so much.
