We had the opposite of hating shoes. I have one who loves them madly, and now that he is a grownup and earns his own money, that's where it goes. They have an empty bedroom, and there are pairs of his shoes lining all 4 walls. He will even buy shoes that don't fit properly cause he loves them. Luckily, he also loves a girl and not her shoes.

I would let the kids pick out their own shoes and let them wear them even if they are silly, cause these stages get worse if you fight them.
My grandson wanted to try on lipstick, and his mother, my ex DIL, would never let him. Finally one weekend when he was with me I let him put on lipstick and a dress and shoes and he walked around and looked in the mirror and laughed and washed it off and he was done with the whole thing. Now he only wears football shirts.

Odessa will be 3 on October 11. She shares a birthday with my 91yr old grandma and Amanda will be 2 next month on the 24th and shares a birthday with my Dad. Both of my kids are July 20, 13 yrs apart to the day. Obviously I have one fertil day a yr-lol. I got spoiled since my daughter at 18mo just walked up to me and said diaper off yuck mom and only had one accident. I had to calm her down-she was the one who was completely upset about it. It has been a challenge at times to get back into baby mode again after all this time. I am not in my twenties anymore-lol

Donuts are bad, evil, poison, and a lump of lard sprinkled with sugar. I am trying to hypnotise myself.

okay, suzy~ I need to quote neo from yesterday:

I declare them enemies of the thread. :nono: Although, I also admit that I found Theresa's method of confession pretty funny!

I felt really good about my eating yesterday, though I didn't really eat the 6 small meals I've been shooting for. I sort of saved a lot of calories for dinner b/c I knew I'd be super hungry after my workout and my husband made tequila lime halibut and chipotle rice. So good! :D The meal wasn't really low calorie, but it was nutritious and it felt really good to sit down to a "full" meal, if you know what I mean. :hun: I also ate the last of the fudge bars last night and still came in at 1400 calories.

Oh! and my workout went really well! 1 ran 1.3 miles straight last night, then I had a brisk walk for another .8 mi. This was on the treadmill, but I used a random incline program. I'm hoping to duplicate that tonight. I felt I was really working my abs last night, but they're not sore or anything this morning and I sort of expected them to be. Guess I'm tougher than I thought! :wl:

Theresa~ keep up your resolve and stay away from those cookies! :coach: I don't know about you, but those things are serious trigger foods for me. I make my husband or daughter hide them if we have them! (and I shamefully admit that I have indeed gone hunting for them)

melra 08-25-2005 12:38 PM

oh, and neo, your story on Odessa reminded me that my dad always said my first sentence at 18 months was "dammit i want a cup of coffee too". guess i was modeling verbal behavior? (i still say that now, only to my husband!)

neo98292 08-25-2005 12:47 PM

ROFLMBO! Too funny. Both my granddaughters are coffee fiends. I have to keep it up high or they have it, chuggin it down! You guys are going to get a kick out of this-guess what is falling off of me???? MY UNDERWARE! I got up and had to make a mad grab for them! Guess what I am going to go buy today while I am out? I don't think I have ever had that happen. Lost my skirt in the checkstand once when I had lost a bunch of weight. Had to have my boss come bring me a pin or she would have to send me home. Thankfully because I am height challenged, no one got a peak that day but my boss laughed at me everytime she saw me the rest of the day.

LOL I haven't lost my pants all on their own yet, but my son did come behind me and grab and they went down to my ankles the other day :o he always walks behind me and just holds my pants to keep up, but this time they came down! They are finally loose...but the next size doesn't fit yet. Okay, I'm comparing sweat pants to blue jeans LOL I'm smarter than that.

My kids don't know what coffee is because no one here drinks it. I think it's disgusting and hubby just....well, he doesn't drink it and I never asked why. Hmm that might be something I need to learn about him. After five years of marriage, I thought I knew everything about him.

Why don't we make donuts the "D" word and no one say it again. It seems to be a big trigger for cravings in a lot of us...even mentioning it, t hat's a BIG trigger! I won't say it again and will do my best not to eat them again. I swear not to say the "D" word lol

that's funny that these kids actually like coffee. i've heard of kids asking for it because they wanted to be grownups, but being all like, "eww, gross" when they tasted it. my relatives would give me coffee when i was a kid, but i thought it was nasty. i now know that it was because they added cream and sugar (thinking a kid would like that). the first time i had it black as a teenager, i loved it. i get sad thinking about it.. all those years wasted, not having coffee  . well, i have the rest of my life to make up for it :s: .

melra 08-25-2005 02:34 PM

cadwell~ I was a life long cream and sugar gal and now I drink it black--I think it's been like 6 months? My husband likes that I switched b/c he said he could never get my cup right! I still like cream and sugar sometimes, but I think of it more like a coffee treat than my regular drink.

omg you guys, you were de-pantsed! too funny! I've got a pair of pants that I absolutely must wear a belt with and when I wore them last week I noticed that I need another notch on my belt--the oppposite direction from where I used to need a notch on my belt! I tried to make one with a steak knife (yes, i now know that was way dumb) but it didn't work. Now it's just sitting in my closet until I get it done the right way.

macdeez 08-25-2005 02:53 PM

I can't even stand the smell of coffee and won't kiss DH after he's had a cup until he brushes his teeth or chews on a piece of gum. One time we were headed out in search of a Christmas tree and while I was getting DD into the truck, he was in the house making up a to-go mug for each of us (coffee for him, hot chocolate for me). I could actually taste that he used the same spoon to stir both... gross. Needless to say, he remade my hot chocolate! Ok, ok, I'm a little high maintenance! So what?! ;)

Still running on very little sleep. Gah. Tavis convinced me to try Gravol last night (they usually put me RIGHT out) so I did. No go. Not until after 3am again. :stress: This is bloody ridiculous.

Got a disturbing call from MIL the other night... she's coming to visit again. Dun dun duuuuuuun! :fr: I have a month to mentally prepare but somehow doubt that's enough time! It really is thaaaaaaaaat bad. :bomb:

cadwell... How'd your interview go over yesterday? When will you hear about the job? Don't worry about the scale... we all fluctuate throughout the week, focus on WI next Wednesday! That's when it counts! :)

Theresa... Not sure what to tell you about the shoe-fiasco. Although the other girls might be right... take her out shopping and allow her to pick out "ouchless" shoes. Good luck!

Melissa... Yay for Odessa! That is big girl stuff! When Meleigha went the whole week w/out an accident, we took her to get her ears pierced (since that's a very big girl thing to do). :)

melra... Dinner last night sounded delish! I so wish my hubby could cook like that... alas, we're stuck with KD when it's his turn to mind the meal. Good job getting that exercise in! Fabulous job, girl! :)

Sandisuze... I sure hope that Katrina misses you guys! But good on you for being prepared! Better safe than sorry, right? Take care! :)

Everyone else... Hello... sure hope you're having a great day today! :)

Other grandma sent me this in my email.

COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

CONSTITUTION
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart Guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.

TEN COMMANDMENTS
Want to know the real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse! You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians! It creates a hostile working environment.

neo98292 08-25-2005 03:07 PM

Well Dess had an accident but she said oh no and went to her potty and then helped clean it up so I think we are gonna be ok and good here within the next couple of days. Good eating day for me and my son really wants his cable back so is working on not name calling today. He has done remarkably well. I may let him just so I can have my own tv back. I think I ate my weight in popcorn last night though but now it is gone and I am not buying more for long time. I just can't leave it alone and I won't eat it plain-lol

melra 08-25-2005 03:10 PM

neo~I think I read it before--it was credited to George Carlin, but I don't know if that's true or not. Funny though--esp the cows!

neo98292 08-25-2005 06:41 PM

Yeah I got a kick out of it. I am going to need to take all the kids to the store shortly for a milk run-wish me luck!

KayElle 08-25-2005 07:52 PM

Hi everybody...hope everybody is having a good day and staying on their plan! I loved the pants stories! I never have to worry about my pants getting too big...I've been up and down so many times I have a full wardrobe for every size from 6's & 8's on up to 22W. But I just got some extra motivation to keep it off this time. The high school where I work offers a fitness class as an elective for any students who want to lose weight in a healthy way. The teacher wants to use me as an "example" for the class. Nothing like a little pressure! I don't dare gain anything back now! Makes me very nervous but on the other hand it's probably a good thing for me and hopefully will keep me from ever going back to my old ways.

Exercise has been ok this week. I was worried about it with working full time again, but I've been getting in 1 and a half to 2 hours of some kind of exercise every day so far so I just need to stick with it. I also eat less when I'm working because I only get a half hour for a quick (usually Lean Cuisine or something similar) lunch and then I'm busy all the rest of the day and don't really think about eating until I get home and by then it's meal time. The really bad thing is I am not drinking near enough water now. Not even close.

I had a terrible time finding shoes my daughter could wear comfortably when she was little. I don't know what the solution is. Her problem was that her feet were just too thick (not wide...more like tall), and she was prone to ingrown toenails as well so her shoes had to fit perfectly or else she ended up at the doctor. She did finally outgrow that problem...now it's just hard finding shoes to fit her huge size 11 feet!

I am stressing a little about the weekend. Some of you probably remember I posted a whlie back about MIL problems. She still hasn't spoken to us. This weekend is a big family get-together and I am nervous about it. My husband would just as soon skip the whole thing because he knows how nervous I am about it and he doesn't want to put me through it, but I explained to him that I felt us not going would just give her another reason to complain about us to anybody and everybody. So...we are going to go put in a polite appearance and hopefully there will not be any blowouts. My husband isn't one to sit back and take it if she says anything not-so-nice to him or especially to me. I am not looking forward to the whole affair, but maybe it'll all be fine.

Well...that's all for now...hope everyone is doing great and having a great evening! I appreciate this group so much...it is so nice to have somewhere to post about the stuff that I can't really talk about with anyone else...thanks all!

StillTrying923 08-25-2005 08:29 PM

Haven't been on for a couple of days...I unplugged our wireless router two nites ago because of a thunderstorm and I plugged it back into a bad outlet and we've been trying to figure out why we couldn't get on the internet for two days! duh! :dizzy:

I still can't trust my scale even though it is brand new and digital with BIG NUMBERS - says I am 170 - so I have met goal?? I am going to trust it and go with it!

THis weekend will be rough, we are going to the beach for two nites and have already planned dinner out both nites!
I will have a big salad,
I will have a big salad,
I will have a big salad,
I will have a big salad..........

One thing that is good is that hubby and I always walk the beach.

Just read 4 pages of posts to get caught up but can't recall who posted what as usual!

Whoever posted that she ate a donut....
i think this is how you want to post that tiny letters....

I have been trying to use fitday everday and I love it! I like how it calculates all of the information for you and I can really see not only my calories, but if I am high on fat, carbs, etc.!
Who knows maybe that is why I am down two more pounds..that and the fact that I have been working in the basement of a 94 year old building cleaning out the records storage that has not been done in 10 YEARS!
I have been hoisting and moving around boxes!! That was my weight training for the week and I did walk twice too!
I will be the happiest women in the world on Wednesday when the shredder truck shows up!!
O.K., I am thirsty, so that is no good - means I haven't gotten in my water for the day!!!

Have a great few days everyone! - I will not able to check in until Sunday!!

Neo is other grandma a republican by chance??? too funny!!
I am turning into one myself these days when it comes to certain things..
